Compressor reduces resolution of image sequence

Hello,
I have an PNG sequence with a resoltion of 1920x1080.
When I add a single image to compressor, and doubleclick it, compressor shows the right resolution.
When I add the whole folder of the image series, compressor shows me the resolution 1440x810 and I can't change it. I just can change the fps. When I now render a video file in 1920x1080, it gets blurry.
What can I do?
Thank you!
Greetings from Cologne, Germany.

Hi Russ H,
thanks for your answer. Sorry, my compressor is in german, I hope it helps

  • SSRS, Reduce resolution of image?

I can find lots of posts about wanting to increase or improve the resolution of an image in SSRS. I am looking for the opposite: how to reduce the resolution in order to create a smaller Excel file size when users export to Excel.
Users run the report, export to Excel, and email the file to external users and customers. The report can sometimes have up to 100 images so the file size can be 15MB. The desire is to reduce the size of the Excel file. The users want to keep the image size
as is (3in x 3in) if possible so perhaps reducing the resolution will decrease the size? Of course, then they will complain about the image quality :-/
My report pulls the image from SQL. The images are taken with digital cameras and usually range from 1 to 2 MB each. The image properties are:
    Size: 3in x 3in
    Sizing: Fit
    MIME type: png
Running SQL and SSRS 2008 (not R2).
Is there an SSRS option for this? Ideally it would be report specific, not a server wide setting. Maybe a SSRS code function or even SQL code to reduce the size as it comes from the database?
    Thanks.

    Hi Rdvb,
There is no an option to reduce the resolution of image in Reporting Services. Here has a MSDN article about Image Device Information Settings, please see:

If you have any concern about this behavior, you can submit a feedback at

THe only way I Found ti was take all the image sequences in Final Cut X, changing duration for one frame, and exporting to compressor for create Pro Res.
This image are from RAW fotograms and I exported from photoshop.
I need to use compressor because I have to convert thousands of frames.
(It´s incredible and sad, how Da Vinci Resolve is working better andgetting people from Final Cut... I love Apple).
    Any help?

By menu, you mean you tried to add the image sequence to a batch lby clicking on the plus sign icon and it didn't give you a browsing window, or what…?

  • Compressor 3.0.5 Image Sequence import missing

    I'm looking at this article
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/compressor/usermanual/index.html#chapter=6%26s ection=2%26tasks=true
but I do not have any import option for my version of Compressor 3.0.5. Why? How can I import an image sequence into Compressor?

Nick is right. QT7 is a better choice.
Make sure your images are numbered sequentially.
    Open up QT7.
    Select: File>Open Image Sequence
    Import the files,
    Select the Frame Rate
    Select Export
    Select Quicktime Movie then Options
Set the video codec and audio settings, etc.
    Export.
    Be happy.

  • Compressor 3.5 and Importing Image Sequences

    Hi,
    The marketing says,
    ++++++++++++++++++++
    Image sequence support
Graphics compositing applications and film workflows often use an image sequence format for cross-platform compatibility as well as to keep quality high. Image sequences treat each video or film source frame as a still image.
Compressor 3.5 imports image sequences in standard formats including TIFF, Targa, DPX, and OpenEXR. You can specify an audio file to incorporate with the image sequence as you import it — for example, the original field-recorded audio for a clip that was converted to a sequence.
    ++++++++++++++++++++
But exactly how is this done with Compressor 3.5? Don't see it in the wizard or Add File dialogue boxes.
    thanks!

    Oops, just found it.
Job > New Job With Image Sequence...
However, I can import a SGI file on it's own, but not with the above menu selection - the files are gray'd out.

  • Import image sequence problem

    Hi. I have Compressor 5.3.5.
I'm importing a TIF image sequence (1080p 25fps) to get an Apple Pro Res 422 HQ (using presets). I set the fps to 25 and start the conversion. Then I find the resulting Quicktime clip (Apple Pro Res 422 HQ) plays fast (like fast-forward). Also the clip has the expected time duration (length) but the last frame stays freezed till the clip ends, because the video is in fast-forward and freezes the last to fit the time duration. I tried the same with other presets (iPod h264, no presets at all, etc), but all give the same problem.
Also I tried to get the video file from the TIF sequence using Final Cut Pro and everything looks fine except the color/contrast... that's why I need to use Compressor and not Final Cut.
Can you help me please? I have googled this issue but found no related topics.
    Thanks.

In fact, Compressor create an XML file in ~/Library/Application\ Support/Compressor/Scratch/
In this XML, you've got sound, framerate and field dominance information if you set it in the inspector panel :
    <key>audioLocation</key>
              <string>path://to/audio/file.aif</string>
    <key>fieldOrder</key>
              <integer>2</integer>
    <key>frameRate</key>
              <real>25</real>
But nothing if you don't set it. So Compressor believe that your image sequence is at 29.97 even if it's a 25 fps sequence...

  • Sending image sequence job to compressor in command line : how to set the framerate?

    Hello,
In Compressor, when you import a image sequence, it's possible to set the framerate and add an audio file before choosing a preset and lauching the encoding task.
I want to dlo the same thing with command line. I know how to send a compressor job with command line, but no how to add theses settings.
In the compressor command line help, we've got this :
Job Info: Used when submitting individual source files. Following parameters are repeated to enter multiple job targets in a batch
-jobpath <url> -- url to source file.
-- In case of Image Sequence, URL should be a file URL pointing to directory with image sequence.
-- Additional parameters may be specified to set frameRate (e.g. frameRate=29.97) and audio file (e.g. audio=/usr/me/myaudiofile.mov).
So there are also framerate and audio parameters in command line but i've no idea how to write the command line with theses parameters
Here is an example of command line for Compressor (by Apple) :
    ./Compressor ‑clusterid tcp://127.0.0.1:51737 ‑batchname myBatch ‑jobpath /Volumes/Source/ShortClips/NTSC24p.mov ‑settingpath /Users/stomper10/Library/Application\ Support/Compressor/PhotoJPEG.setting ‑destinationpath /Users/machinename/Movies/myDestinationFilename.mov.
    Thank you for your help!

You can see in the command sh running-config command
show running-config : Displays the current access point operating configuration
Use the guest-mode SSID configuration mode command to configure the radio interface (for the specified SSID) to support guest mode. Use the no form of the command to disable the guest mode.
    [no] guest-mode .
Here is the guideline for usage
The access point can have one guest-mode SSID or none at all. The guest-mode SSID is used in beacon frames and response frames to probe requests that specify the empty or wildcard SSID. If no guest-mode SSID exists, the beacon contains no SSID and probe requests with the wildcard SSID are ignored. Disabling the guest mode makes the networks slightly more secure. Enabling the guest mode helps clients that passively scan (do not transmit) associate with the access point. It also allows clients configured without a SSID to associate.
    Examples
This example shows how to set the wireless LAN for the specified SSID into guest mode:
    AP(config-if-ssid)# guest-mode
This example shows how to reset the guest-mode parameter to default values:
    AP(config-if-ssid)# no guest-mode

  • Size of Add Image Sequence in Compressor is too small?

    Hello all,
i tried to import an image sequence into Compressor (20 Tiff files sequentially numbered with 1920x1080 aspect ratio) so i can export it to Apple ProRes. I want to do this through compressor so as to be able to use the batch option in the future...
Problem is, after i import the image sequence, in the inspector window under the A/V attributes tab i see encoded bounds: 68x40 and display bounds: 68x40 and the image appears to be 68x40 in pixel size. I tried to export the sequence to Apple Pro Res 1920x1080 to see if it was just the compressor preview that looked bad. Now i have an ugly 1920x1080 image that originates from a 68x40 image, You can imagine the pixel size!!!!!!
Am i doing something wrong here? Is there a limit to what size of images can compressor handle?
    Thanks
    Tolis

Well, i am replying to myself...
my original tiff files were slightly longer than 1080 pixels wide (1128 pixels) and that is why Compressor could not work with them!!!!! Once i used a tiff file that was 1920x1080 all worked fine...
    Thread solved....

  • Rendering very high-resolution image sequence

I'm in the process of rendering a very high-resolution image sequence (8k, 2:1 aspect ratio). Yes, in this case it really is necessary to render such a large image.
Not entirely surprisingly, I'm getting an error during rendering. "Unable to allocate space for an 8000x4000 pixel image buffer."
I have a relatively powerful machine (Mac Pro, 8 cores, 16gb ram, plenty of hard drive space)
How should I tune the memory settings for this process? Also, are there any "under the hood" tweaks that I can make in AE to optimize it for rendering these large files.
    Thanks!

We get questions like this often around here and I, too, will be interested by the destination for this rendering.
Such a mosaic cannot be displayed from a single device so it's not necessary at all to render it as a complete frame. If you are going to a digital signage system, there are workarounds for importing the source video that should be provided by the signage driver's mfr. If you're going out to several synced display systems, render them as individual movies.

  • Exporting PNG Image Sequence in Compressor?

    Hi everyone!
Can anyone help? Any Compressor pro's out there?
I can successfully export sequences via Final Cut Pro using Quicktime conversion as .PNG Image Sequences retaining the alpha channel (millions+). However in Compressor the Image Sequence settings seem to ONLY support targa or tiff, IS there a way to export the image sequence using compressor as a alpha channel PNG!
You can export the sequence as a .mov with the png codec.. but I must have it as the image sequence!
    Any ideas anyone?

Sorry, but I have not been able to find an option for exporting image sequences with Alpha channel in Compressor either. I submitted a bug report about this a few months ago.
Why do you need to use Compressor? If it is for deinterlacing or resizing, you could export from FCP using Compressor, and choose to export a QuickTime movie using the Animation codec at 100%. After that, you can export your Animation file to a PNG image sequence using QuickTime Pro.
It is the only workaround I can think of at the moment.
I would recommend submitting a bug report: http://www.apple.com/feedback/compressor.html

Make sure your images are numbered sequentially.
    Open up QT7.
    Select: File>Open Image Sequence
    Import the files,
    Select the Frame Rate

  • Compressor 4 drops frames when converting 25fps image sequences

I am using Compressor 4 to batch convert 30fps and 25fps 1080 tiff image sequences to Uncompressed 10bit 422.
I have created custom presets for both 30fps and 25fps.
    The 30fps conversions are fine.
But the 25fps conversions have missing or dropped frames and the resulting clip is too short. For example a 106 frame image sequence becomes 88 frames when converted to Uncompressed 10bit 422 QT. (which suspiciously similar to the 83.33% difference between 25 & 30 fps)
I have double checked my setting and can not find a problem (see grab)
    Any suggestions much appreciated.

Update: I have found a work around for this problem, but it is not pretty!
By using the 30fps setting even for 25fps sequences, every frame gets included in the resulting QuickTime. But it plays at the wrong frame rate, so I then use Cinema Tools to change the frame rate to 25fps. Then everything is fine.
As Compressor 4 has been around for while, I can't believe this hasn't come up before!

  • Compressor outputs stuttery QT's from image sequence

    Hey all,
I'm having an issue when trying to batch image sequences from compressor. The resulting QT is 'stuttery' and 'jumpy'. The source image sequences are .tga's and the destination formats are ProRes 422 HQ @23.976/ 23.98
The attributes pane recognizes the seq as progressive and 23.98 before putting my settings on and I've not enabled frame controls.
I did have this working at one point during testing, and I remember having to do something mundane to each image sequence so that it came out alright - I thought it was choosing the 23.98 fps setting in the attributes inspector, but that doesn't seem to be doing anything.
This is on a mac pro1.1, quad 3ghz and 12 gb ram.
Any questions or help would be grteatly appreciated-
    Thanks all!

It's perfect when I put it through FCP: as was the previous workflow. It'd just be a heck of a lot easier to batch all the shots I deal with ^^
I think that re-selecting the 23.98 in the atributes window for each image sequence seems to get it. Any other ideas?- it'd be great if I didn't have to. boy- I sound lazy
    Thanks a bunch!

  • 4:2:2 and image sequence resolution question.

As I understand it, 4:2:2 is the best res to work with when compositing. If I pull a image sequence say from something other than 4:2:2, say DV, does the image sequence still maintain the res? Or since I am dealing with an image, .tiff, the res does not make a difference as long as the image is not compressed. Any insight would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Ed

    Wolf359,
"4:2:2" denotes the luma/chroma channel compression.
Compression (image sampling quality) is independent of resolution (picture size). Those two variables together determine file size.
Check out these two sites for in-depth info on compression & video formats:

  • Large image sequences in Flash - How to reduce memory usage?

So I'm trying to publish a looping animation in Flash with a large amount of image sequences in it. (around 3000 frames all told). And I'm having problems with the swf using too much memory when it's played.
The swf is about 80mb, but the file uses an excess of 2gb of ram when played. I don't know why that would be. A memory leak?
My understanding is: that Flash will just load all images in a swf into memory unless you dump the memory somehow. Can anyone explain how to do this? Is it possible? I can't seem to find a solution online.
    Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I think I was being just overly ambitious trying to get this to play in swf form on sub 4gb ram machines. I've resorted to external video.
