Compressor renders mpeg-2  correctly

I'm trying to compress few videos to mpeg-2 for broadcasting but Compressor 3.5 makes them all black. I used the same settings as with older Compressor. The audio is not playing right eater. Can anyone help me a bit? I'm in a hurry here.
Thanks
Mikko K

Ok, i have found a way to make changes to the audio settings. First create a customized MPEG2 setting of your liking. Copy the setting to the desktop and open it with textedit. Locate the 48Khz sampling rate and have it changed to the sampling rate of your choice or in my case the audio data rate which by default is at 38400. Save the setting file and drop it back into the custom settings folder and viola. Be sure to delete the old setting file first prior to import.
Hope this helps.

  • No sound in my rendered MPEG video -  Premiere Elements 8

    I edited an .avi video...  deleted some scenes, added some effects and titles.  There is sound when I playback the edited video project in Premiere Elements 8.  Then I rendered the file by selecting "shared to be viewed on personal computer"  and selected MPEG file type.  When I playback the rendered MPEG file in Windows Media Player, there is no sound!  What is going on?    I am not a computer geek,  just trying to convert some old videos.......    THANKS in advance for any suggestions you may have!  gf

    Thank you for the suggestion, Steve.  I didn't know what other program to use...    I downloaded VLC and then played the vido in it.   It has audio.  I still don't understand what this means.   Why won't it play on Windows Media Player?  Is there   something "WRONG" with the rendered MPEG file?   If I burn this to a DVD will I be able to playback on a DVD player??
    Also....  yes it was captured over a firewire from a Sony Video8 cam that had legacy playback.  The original video was analog, recorded back in the 1980's.   I bought a more recent (90's?) Sony videocam on ebay, that had legacy playback in order to convert to .avi
    Thanks for your help.    I am going to try to burn to DVD later today, and see if I can replay...

  • Envy Touchsmart 15 not rendering IE graphics correctly

    I have an HP Envy Touchsmart 15 (15-j151nr) that has both the Intel 4600 and the Nvidia GT 740M display adapters. The desktop graphics is done by the Intel chip.

    However, on MY computer, it looks like this:
    If I go to the IE settings, in the advanced section and check that I want to use software rendering instead of GPU rendering, then IE displays correctly.

  • Safari not rendering a page correctly

    A webpage I created in Dreamweaver uses drop down menus that are supposed to display just to the left of the link they drop from. In all other browsers they work correctly, but since the latest upgrade in Safari to 3.0.4 as a part of OS 10.4.11 on my Macbook, they are not rendering correctly. Instead they are appearing much further to the left where it's difficult to move the cursor to them before they disappear. Until I changed the color of the drop downs they were disappearing into the background. Any ideas why Safari is not rendering them correctly? I'd like to keep Safari as my primary browser, but if it won't render my own page correctly, what other pages might it be messing up? Address of the page is http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/woottonhs/ The drop downs are connected to the central column list that has small arrows beside the words. They will probably work correctly for you, but won't for me in Safari. What can I do to fix it?
    Thanks,
    KWolfrey

    Hi,
    I'm running 10.4.11 with Safari 3.0.4 and as far as I can see the menus seem to work just fine here.
    Do you have a custom stylesheet set in Safaris advanced preferences? (Some Safari enhancer applications set one even if you didn't manually set one so double check to make sure.)
    Also, do you use PithHelmet?
    One quick test you can do to help narrow down things is to try Safari in another user account. This will help us to know whether your problem is local to your account or system wide. If you don't have another account you can use System Preferences -> Accounts -> \[+\] to create a test one (and \[-\] to remove it if needed)
    Lastly, I doubt these [errors|http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.montgomeryschoolsmd. org%2Fschools%2Fwoottonhs%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&g roup=0] have anything to do with your problem since it seems to work fine for me, but you might want to look into them at some point.

  • Datagrid Item Renderer not displaying correct data

    I have a datagrid that displays information from a web service, which is refreshed every 60 seconds.
    When the status is no 0 for a line a corresponding color is used to fill in the background.  I created a Item Renderer to fill in the background color.
    When the table is initially created, the colors are correct.  After the data is refreshed, then the background color value is carried over to the next row.
    The Spark DataGrid works better than the MX AdvancedDateGrid or DataGrid.  This was working in Flex 3, but I used an function which replaced the DataGridColumn that doesn't work in Flex 4.

                        bgFill.color = backgroundColor;
                        dataContainer.setStyle("backgroundColor",backgroundColor);
                        lblData.setStyle("color", labelTextColor);

    I added an "else" statement to make sure that a color was always added, even if the level was 0.  I also added a backgroundAlpha style to both, to turn the value off or on.
    So far, this seems to be the solution.
    if(showBackground) {
    var bgFill:SolidColor = new SolidColor();
    bgFill.color = backgroundColor;
    dataContainer.setStyle("backgroundColor",backgroundColor);
    labelDisplay.setStyle("color", labelTextColor);
    dataContainer.setStyle("backgroundAlpha",1);
    } else {
    dataContainer.setStyle("backgroundColor",backgroundColor);
    labelDisplay.setStyle("color", labelTextColor);
    dataContainer.setStyle("backgroundAlpha",0);

  • Not Rendering Some Pages Correctly

    My site has been working correctly for several years. Yesterday, when trying to update only a couple of the pages, iWeb made me republish the whole site. I did it overnight by publishing to a folder, then using Cyberduck to upload the folder.
    Now my Welcome page looks normal but some of the other pages do not render correctly. Appears to be related to the photo template pages (click on the "Bills Photos" link on the Welcome page to see the problem).
    When I publish to a folder and open with Safari all pages render normally. When I compare the html on the PhotoGallery page in the folder with the one on my iDisk, they appear to be the same.
    I've been changing things and retrying with no success. Can anyone tell me what's going on and how to fix it.
    My URL is: http://web.mac.com/billspaulding/BillsHome/Welcome.html
    Thanks for any help.
    Bill

    Bill-
    First of all I am noticing that you are using non-web safe fonts (futura comes up in safari and something serif, maybe a Garamond? in firefox). So that could be one reason why your type is off...
    I can see the type redrawing as the page renders. I have also found that when you adjust with the type character spacing settings in iweb it renders differently on different browsers. Also be careful of overlapping text boxes. That can mess up your type as well.
    As far as the gallery photo pages... just a guess... but your site is very narrow. Did you make sure all files (including the gallery pages) fall within the page width you have set up? I noticed when I click 'back to album' the page corrects itself to view the slideshow but you lose the other options to download, etc. Weird but it almost looks like you have 2 copies of the gallery on each page.. with 2 buttons for each (play slideshow)
    Have you checked all your links?
    Hope some of this helps. I have been working with iweb recently, teaching myself and viewing forums.

  • FCP 'autosaving' project while Compressor rendering?

    A 90 minute docu. Thirty hours of rendering. I just noticed FCP 'autosaving' the project file. Which took a long few minutes. Now Compressor is going again ... but there seems to be no diminishment of the 'remaining time' in the History window. I can't tell whether Compressor is stalled or not. I can hear the computer occasionally working.
    Could the FCP 'autosaving' have frozen Compressor somehow? Though there is no spinning beach ball. I realise I should have turned off the 'autosave' function in FCP ... but never have before, and never had Compressor SEEM to stop before.
    How can I know if the render has somehow come off the rails. Ooops!
    Just 'hid' FCP to see if I could find the little indicator that Compressor was rendering. And when I tired to move the Compressor history window aside ... the Apple Cinema screen just went black. And I can't seem to refresh it or bring it back.
    Help!
    Ben

    Thank you Alberto,
    To my surprise ... the reason FCP was autosaving was because Compressor had actually finished the render ... even though it was still saying there were fifteen hours to go. Go figure. I'm not sure why the screens went blank. But with a reboot I went to look at the folder where the master was to be exported ... and there is was, complete and pristine. Mmmm. Wonder why Compressor was showing fifteen hours to go ... perhaps it was thinking it was compressing video and instead was doing the Dolby sound, which went through so fast ... mmm, that doesn't sound right either. A mystery.

  • Compressor making MPEG/AC3 files of different lenghts when running 8 cores

    Hey guys, first off I am running Compressor 3.0.2 on a MacPro 2.8 GHz 8 core machine. My problem is that my files come out to a different lenght when I use my qmaster cluster to access all 8 cores while encoding mov's to MPEG2 & AC3. The difference between MPEG and AC3's are normally between 3 and 12 frames.
    What I have found is that if I use "My computer" instead of the cluster that files are exactly the same. It makes me think there is an error in the joining of the files at the end. Using my computer right now is an okay solution, but I rather use all 8 processors as it cuts compressing in half.
    Matthew

    hi matthew,
    seems a lot of people are having similar problems with compressor 3.02 (see the thread i started a couple days ago..) for me it's sending uncompressed mov's to compressor that are 23.98 fps. what is the framerate of your movies?

  • Image Quality loss when exporting to compressor's MPEG-2

    Hello peeps.
    My issue is that once I've finished my ridiculous 1 hr (anaorphic) edit with FCP I wish to put it onto DVD (4.7GB) and have choosen 90min best etc on compressor but when I come to view the footage again from the newly created file it looks like someone's gone to it with a knife around the edges.
    Does all the footage need to be de-interlaced? Surely not.
    It seems to mostly effect any movement within the screen.
    Yet as a quicktime file it looks fine but that happens to be over 10GB and thus will not fit onto a normal DVD.

    What are you viewing it on...the computer monitor? Are you simply opening the M2V file and playing it on the computer? If it's interlaced material, you're probably seeing the jaggies that can happen when a progressive display is showing a raw interlaced image without deinterlacing it for playback like some programs do automatically. If this is so, burn your DVD and watch it on a TV or NTSC/PAL Monitor, and check to see if it's still funky. Chances are it will be fine, otherwise, you may have something going on with incorrect field rendering somewhere along the line.

  • Compressor and MPEG-2 GOP Settings...

    This one is kind of an odd problem, but according to tech support, if there is an answer, i'll find it here. For those familiar with theatrical lighting fixtures, I am working with a HighEnd DL2, which is essentially a moving projector with a built-in media server.
    I am trying to upload some custom content I created in Final Cut. HighEnd lists the specifications needed for the content on their website....http://www.highend.com/support/digital_lighting/CreatingCustomContent.asp.
    I have been able to create an MPEG-2 video with all the spec's they require EXCEPT the GOP Structure. The fixture requires an MPEG-2 that has a GOP Structure of all I-Frames. Does anyone know how to make Compressor do this OR does anyone know a long way around to accomplish the same thing? Thanks much :-D

    I don't believe this is doable with Compressor's default MPEG2 encoder, at least not through the available options in the Compressor interface. The codec itself can probably do it, but Compressor won't allow you to select that option.
    If there's a way to do it with Compressor I'd love to hear about it. I would imagine that force-feeding config data to the codec (hand-modifying the xml going out from compressor) would be the avenue to get there.
    Anyway, You might want to look into the CinemaCraft MP encoder plugin for Compressor which gives you better control over I frame placement, or hop over to a Windows box and use TMPGEnc.
    There are a lot of MPEG encoders out there with granular configuration that will allow you to set 0 frames between I frames, effectively generating an IIIIII pattern. Look around and find something you like.
    If you have a VERY short video, say a short logo loop, (99 frames or less), you could try setting a compression marker on all of your video frames in Final Cut, which should in theory force Compressor to set every frame to an I frame. There's a 99 marker-per-project limit, though, so that will get ugly fast if your video is longer than a couple of seconds.
    Alternatively, and this is really really nasty, you could place a CUT at -every- frame in your video. Compressor should create I frames at cut points. This will also blow up in your face pretty quickly, but if it's a very short video it might be worth a shot.
    Ugh. Nasty hacks.

  • Rendering MPEG 4, Composition size is 2266x240

    Client Specification
    Display Number: 1 Unit

    Pixel Pitch: 12mm
    Pixel Dimension for individual Banner: 2266x240 Square PIxels
    Format: MPEG 4 Video Basic 30mb/s: 30fps

    Problem
    Now when i render in MPEG 4 it give me error of ("Setting mismatch", Warning: Output file wil be resized from 2266x240(1.00 PAR) to 720x240(1.00 PAR) to meet the format constraints)
    And unfortunately my client wants that in same size and format.
    I have done enough RND on that in last 8 hours but failed to get that rendered. Can anyone come up with EXPERTS OPINION how can i render with client specification. I would be really thankfull to you all. After working on this project i am guess i need some serious learning
    Thanks in Advance

    Sir Big Thanks for the info just one thing MPEG4/H.264/MP4 all are same right, Becuase my worry is my client requested for MPEG4 so if i render a movie with H.264 format output to mp4 is it going to be ok right?
    Becuase i saw one wiki link it says that its a same (MPEG4/H.264), i just want experts opinion on that.
    And that long strip movie problem has been solved with AME Many thanks for that.

  • Compressor rendering time

    I am using Final Cut Studio 2.
    I am rendering HD footage in FCP for use in DVD studio.
    I am using compressor to compress the footage for DVD
    DVD Setting in compressor: 90 minute best video
    Rendering time is approximately 7-8 hours per hour of footage?
    Is this normal?
    My computer is:
    iMac 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo (2008 model)
    4 gigs of 800 mhz ddr2 sdram (this is the max ram for this computer! )
    NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS 512 MB
    Hard drive: 465 gig (I use mainly external drives for editing)
    Would an older Power PC G5 be any better as a friend suggested that it would.
    Thanks
    Bill

    NO!
    My workflow is for a finished DVD of up to 65 minutes.
    That 65 minute video would pretty well fill the DVD.
    So it would be impossible to get any more on.
    When you do 90, 120 or 150 minute DVDs you have to compress the video more so that it will fit on. This reduces the quality of course.
    You could use the "Fast" settings rather than the "Best".
    This would get it done in less than half the time but the quality would not be as good.
    However, I don't think there will be a tremendous difference and it could well be good enough for your requirements.
    NOTE: Just to be absolutely clear, if your finished DVD is 2.5 hours long you will have to use one of the 150 minute presets.

  • Compressor Or MPEG Streamclip To Make Files Smaller?

    I currently use MPEG streamclip to make my mov files smaller and mp4 as it doesnt allow good quality MP4 exports from FCP and I was wondering what most use as Ive had trouble making the mp4 with XCam footage for a mov file from Streamclip as the quality is pixelated.

    Time to read the docs for Compressor. You can use the inspector to see just what size of file to expect. Make sure you click on the compression setting of your clip...

  • Compressor renders to a 4 kb file only?

    Hi all. I am rendering a file with my unchanged vimeo codec. But the last few times I have rendered like this Compressor takes the time to render the file then says it was successful but when I look at the file it is only 4 kb. Can anyone help?

    Check the History window, it will tell you if the file is still being transcoded or if it's done... it may be getting stuck. (this may happen if you cancel in the middle transcoding or if you import a reference movie)
    Go to: Compressor > Reset Background Processing.
    If this doesn't clear the issue, how are you sending the file to Compressor? Share? or are you exporting a self-contained or reference movie from FCP?
    (what will also give you a clue that your movie is done, is that if you are exporting to the same location as the source, a yellow exclamation mark will appear next to the applied settings in the main job window)
