Compressor stuck in cancelling

After doing a clean install of Mavericks, Compressor is no longer working.  I sent a job for processing and it remained in "waiting" status for 10 minutes.  I tried to cancel the job by clicking the cancel button and the status shows "Canceling".  I went to Preferences and clicked "Reset Queue/Cancel Jobs.  It remains in canceling mode.

Quit (force quit if necessary. Go to your Home library/Application Support/Compressor/History/v4. Find the batch that's stuck and delete it.
Download Digital Rebellion's free Preference Manager and use it to trash the preferecnce files.
Hopefully that will get the app functioning the way it should.

Photosmart Plus B210 series printer is stuck on "canceling job."  I have tried deleting and adding it back on. Printer is working on its own and appears to be recognized by my iMac but I can't access the supply levels or print anything. Under printer setup the location is blank...suggestions? help?

Hello @Amiera , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I can see you're running into compatibility issues.  I would like to help.
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • IPad stuck in "canceling sync" after downloading 2.1

After downloading the 2.1 version of the software for iPad, the iPod function is stuck in "canceling sync." I have read everything I can find on here and it seems the answer is to sync with iTunes on my computer. Unfortunately, when I try to do that, I get the response:
This iPad cannot be used because the required software is not
installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install
    the 64-bit version of iTunes.
I already had the 64-bit version of iTunes loaded but I deleted it and reloaded it again. I reset the iPad, reset my computer but still can't sync.
    HELP!!!

    Hi ...
Could be your USB connection. Follow the instructions here.

  • Compressor Stuck @ 99% for the 4th time...

I successfully got project 1 of 2 out yesterday, workflow went like this:
(From FCP) "Send to: Compressor" Select destination/compression settings. Submit batch (3 different timelines to be encoded." In this instance, Compressor successfully completed all but one of the three videos to be compressed, the first time. I had to resubmit the smallest clip of the three, a second time. Compressor than completed the job.
    Next project (2 of 2)
Submitted two timelines to be encoded, via FCP>File>Send to>Compressor. First video encoded, second video got to 98% after 12 hours. Cancel encode, resubmit. Additional attempt....got to 99% after 3 hours. For third attempt, I first exported the clip as a "self-contained" quicktime file. Took that file into compressor, same result: 99% @ 3 hours.
It seems that my only experiences with Compressor have been this way. Crazy long encode times, and can't depend on it to finish any job I leave for it overnight.
For my 4th attempt, I will dump Compressor's history and restart.
Just finished my 4th attempt. Same failure...
Also, here is a sample of the log:
    <mrk tms="314175845.019" tmt="12/15/2010 23:04:05.019" pid="393" what="service-request" req-id="8F0A772D-93FB-4BA7-BFEA-3D3B9A6439DC:1" msg="Error: unrecognized request."></mrk>
    Here are the stats:
Macbook Pro 2.2 intel core 2 Duo,
    4GB RAM,
    OSX 10.5.8
    500GB Drive w/140GB available.
Graid 2TB Drive w/1.35TB available, all media held here.
    FCP 6.0.6
    Compressor 3.0.5

The format of my source clips is an ugly blend, as I used 3 different cameras to capture the footage. It was a wedding, shot with 2 panasonic cameras outputting DVCPRO HD 720p60 960x720, and one canon 7D doing close-ups and pickup shots, outputting apple prores 422 at 1080x1920. However, I transcoded all of the prores clips ahead of time, into the same codec and dimensions as the others.
Sequence Settings are DVCPRO HD 720p60, with a 23.98 editing timebase
I'm compressing into MPEG-2 for DVD playback.
I am trying compressor repair right now.
    I will un-instal/reinstall if this doesn't work.
I was curious how the multiple codecs might alter the output, but had successfully completed 3 other timelines with similar/identical content (relative to the codecs).

  • Compressor won't cancel batch job

There was some sort of error while compressing a batch of clips. "3x Crash service down" not sure what that means... but anyway trying to cancel the job and it won't cancel it just stays there hung up. I have gone to /var/spool/qmaster and deleted all job folders and restarted compressor but it is still in the que. How can that be? Does anyone have any ideas how I can remedy this problam?

First try going into Compressor and under the Compressor menu chose Reset background processing. You'll get a dialog, choose reset and cancel. If that doesn't work (it should). Restart you computer and open Compressor or the Batch monitor right away. The job will restart and if you cancel right away it will be able to be canceled.

  • Help! My iPhone 4 is stuck on 'Cancelling sync'!! Can I Unplug the phone?

iTunes is stuck on 'Syncing iPhone' and the iPhone Will not open 'iPod'. A message pop's up saying "Cancelling sync"
Can I unplug the phone? Its 4:20AM now, I am tired and the phone has been attempting to cancel for an hour!
Is the sync just to check the music? I put half-a-million songs on there..
Hope you can reply ASAP.. My head hurts.

I had this happen to me on the 25th when my sync kept popping up with errors and I couldn't do anything to iTunes except click ok on the error pop-ups, so I tried to cancel it from the phone ... After a little while of waiting, I finally unplugged it and when I reconnected it, it forced me to do a restore. After several attempts to get by without having to restore (restarting computer/phone, trying different USB ports, etc) I finally caved and restored from my latest backup. Usually a restore only takes a few minutes, but this one was going realllllly slow. It ended up failing with some error code. So I unplugged it, plugged it back in, and this time it didn't say I had to restore... It ended up syncing fine this time around. Hopefully yours worked better

  • Foxtel on Tbox channel stuck on cancelling for around 2 weeks now

I tried to cancel the sports channels around 2 weeks ago or so now, and it still says 'cancelling'. I added entertainment and that went through almost straight away, both requests were done within a minute of each other so not sure why the cancelling part is taking so long? I don't want to be paying for a part of the subscription that I'm not using and haven't used in a long time, which is why I tried to cancel it. haha. Any idea if this is an issue that's going to be resolved soon?

  • Stuck on Waiting, Can't cancel unless through Compressor Repair.

Whenever I try to submit a batch, it just gets stuck on waiting.  If I try to cancel, it stays stuck on cancel.  I'm only able to clear the queue by running the Compressor Repair app from www.digitalrebellion.com.
Has anyone found a solution for this?

Ive just tried using the exact same settings a you described.  Single computer, single instance, and disabled any network sharing on it.
THIS appears to be working (transcode is still in progress as I type.) This is the first time Ive seen anything other than "waiting."  Whether it's using the GPU or not, I can't say yet.
I'm transcoding a 163GB movie and 3:30 minutes into the process it's already 1/8th done on the progress bar.
Thanks for sharing this, I hadn't tried this combination of settings yet.  Till now, it just wouldn't work at all for me.
I may have to do a timed test on both 4.0.5 and 4.1 to see if I'm seeing any improvement or not.
I am running this on a 2008 Mac Pro 3,1 with Dual 3GHz Quad-core processors, 16GB of 667MHz ram and a Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 TI Boost video card with 2GB of video ram.

  • Compressor won't work when submitted to Cluster

I've set up my Qmaster preferences to open 4 instances of Compressor 3 on my Mac Pro about a month ago. Now, out of the blue, I'm getting a strange error message when I choose the local cluster and Compressor will not submit the batch. I have not updated any software or changed any Qmaster settings.
The error message is: "Error: An internal error occurred: NSException raised by 'NSPortTimeoutException', reason = '[NSPortCoder sendBeforeTime:sendReplyPort:] timed out'
When I submit to "This Computer" Compressor works fine.
In the preferences pane, my Qmaster settings are
Share this computer as: Services only
    Services: Compressor
    Share CHECKED
    Managed UNCHECKED
    Options: 4 Instances (on a dual Quad-core)
    Services: Rendering
    All UNCHECKED
    Everything else set to defaults.
I've also noticed in the Activity monitor compressrd shows as (Not Responding)--I'm guessing that's not good!
Like I said, I had applied the 3.0.1 update when it first came out and it seemed to work fine since then.
I think my next step is going to be to wipe the HD and reinstall everything, but I'm hoping there is a quicker way. Any suggestions?
    MacPro 3.0 Ghz 2x Quad
    Mac OS 10.4.10
    Quicktime 7.1.6
Final Cut Studio 2 (all the x.0.1 updates)

    Just had the same problem.
Compressor was stuck on "cancelling" and never completed cancelling.
Other jobs just did not start because cancelling was in progress.
Quitting and restarting all programs did not work.
I finally killed all batch processes using compressor/reset background processing menu item.
Then I encountered this NSPortTimeoutException problem.
I threw away all compressor settings but that did not do much.
    Quit/restart still no effect
Then I set the Apple QMaster prefs to 'services and cluster controller'.
    Did not do much either.
Then I quit & restart all processes again. This time it seems to work again as it should.
No idea what really was the problem though...

  • Compressor 4.1.3 Fills Up My Startup Disk

I am exporting to and working off of Thunderbolt externals on the new Mac Pro.
Literally one of the fastest systems out there yet everytime I use compressor it fills up my start up disk.
I am pretty hopeless and need to export these things to clients asap... help please.

I have a few videos (25 min, 1hr 30min etc..) some DSLR wedding stuff, some c300/animation documentary stuff, all in FCPX that I send to Compressor.  All my Libraries, backups and everything are on my externals.  Im trying to send out a Master (ProRes 422 HQ) for Archive then a few online deliverables (H.264 1080p/720) as well.
I am having it all exported to my externals, It seems though that Compressor just eats up the 50 gigs I have open on my start up disk.  As soon as it notifies me its full I cancel the batch (leaving me with no results) and then my start up disk frees up again...
Super confused, literally subscribing to every tutorial I can find right now from MacProUser to Lynda to see if I am missing something here...
    Does that help?

  • Unable to stop compressor

My compressor has been cancelling a file since yesterday, i've done everything i can think of. Force Quiting, restarting the computer, Pausing. Everything. Is there a way to stop this, i'm stuck and can't compress anything while this is going on

There's a reset services item in the Compressor menu in Compressor, and you can also open the system prefs, choose the Qmaster prefs, hold down the option key and choose Reset services (if you have Qmaster sharing on, turn it off in that window first).
one or both of those will do the trick for you (I usually do both and then restart).

  • Trying to install CC apps, Progress bar stuck

I have spent most of my day trying to get the Creative Cloud desktop application installed (I have had to now create a new user on my computer which has seemingly fixed that), and when I tried to install Audition as a test, the progress bar got stuck at 40%. Since it wasn't going anywhere, I tried to cancel it, but it got stuck on cancelling for ages. So what I did was close the application, end all the Adobe processes and open CC Desktop up again. It crashed twice, and I then tried running it as administrator. It is now running, but my Audition download is now stuck at 11% for no obvious reason.
Has anyone had similar problems? Is there any way to fix it? (I've tried deleting the adobe files in %appdata%).
This is a 64-bit computer running on what should be fully updated Windows 7 with 8GB of RAM and an i5 4670K.

if you've already gone through all the help on that page, you really need to make sure your cc app is properly installed.
    i would uninstall it.
run the cleaner to see if it can find anything, http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
    restart your computer.
then reinstall the cc app and make sure it installs without problem.

  • Job Won't Start Processing

I'm running Compressor 3.0.5 and Snow Leopard. Everything's been running smoothly until yesterday. When I submit a job, either from Final Cut or by adding a file directly to Compressor, the job's message quickly changes to "Unknown time remaining" but it never starts crunching.
Batch Monitor shows a job that's stuck on Canceling. I can't remove it from the list. I'm assuming this is what's clogging up the works. How can I get around this?

Ah, I forgot about that thing! That cleared it from the list, but so far hasn't solved the problem of not actually starting to process my files.
Right now, I dragged a PhotoJPEG movie file into the window like I've done a million times before. I then hit Submit (already have my custom default setting) and wait.
Usually, it will think for a second or two, then quickly the progress bar would jump to 33%. This type of job should only take a minute and a half. It's now over 10 min. without a single blip on the progress bar.
    Very frustrating.
