Compressor times getting longer and longer...what is going on?

I burn two game dvds per week about the same times (1hr-1hr 10min. I have been using compressor preset of 90 min best(mpeg-2) and then upping the bit rate to get 3.4 to 3.8 gb per dvd. The times to process are getting ridiculous. Normally it would take 2-3 hrs to process but in the last week the last 3 compressor processing times were 5hrs, 7hrs, and then today 22hrs. As far as I know I haven't changed anything. What could bee going on and where should I check first? Im' using FCS 2 Thanks!

In case you haven't already, try some of the things outlined in the Troubleshooting Basics for Compressor.
For your scenario, I would try to the Clear QMaster Cache first. If that doesn't seem to solve anything, try Repair File Permissions, then Delete Preferences.
Or are those roads you've travelled already?

You really don't need to do "secure Empty Trash." Just empty the Trash. If you don't have permission to access some items that means you shouldn't be trying to delete them or you are trying to delete a file you don't own.
If your external drive is used only on your Mac, then it should not be formatted ExFAT. It should be prepared as follows:
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Try restarting the computer. Then again try to Empty the Trash. Do you still get the error? What are you trying to delete?

  • When ever we opened HFM Application through workspace, getting struck and through client is going good

When ever we opened HFM Application through workspace, getting struck and through client is going good. Any guess on this.. please share.
We have tried to Reset IIS, Recycle Services & Reboot Servers -- After this some time will works good , Then again isue repeats.
    Appriciate your help!
    Regards,
    RSV

Yeah the issue seem to be with IIS,
Try launching the application through the url
http://hfmwebserver/hfm/logon/processlogon.asp?workspace=false&username=admin&password=password  replacing hfmwebserver with web server you have in your env and username and password respectively to see if there is some improper registration of Web Server with HFM.
Also check IIS worker process settings.
    Thanks

I am getting a plug in failure when trying to do certain things.  My flash player and quic time are up to date.  What is going on?

What are the "certain things" you are doing, when the problem occurs?  What is the error message, or indication, that the "failure" occurred?

  • When using my iPhone (i5) at home with wi-fi i get an error every time I attempt to access google, I also get gmail errors. What is going on?

When at home using my wi-fi connection, anytime I try to connect to google I get an error that says "You attempted to reach google.com, but instead you reached a server identifying itself as icloud.com"
I also get prompted for my gmail password and regardless of what I put in it won't accept it, and I still get mail.
This only happens on my home wi-fi.
Does anyone know what's going on

Sounds like a reboot of your router is what you should try.

  • Weird load balancing and paging: What is going on?

    Hi,
We have EP 7 installed in our environment.  The Portal has a Central Instance and two dialog instances.  We are using NetScaler 7 as a load balancer.  Our load balancer is currently configured with a weighted round-robin of 3:3:1.  For all requests, 3 connections are set to each of the dialog instance with only 1 connection sent to the central instance.
We have recently received a monitoring report which indicates that, despite the load balancing configurations, one of the dialog instance (DI1) is having a higher CPU load.  We assume this means that more requests are being sent to one particular instance.  Comparing this report with the past reports we have received, this particular instance has been consistently getting higher CPU loads, which is puzzling.  The dialog instances in our Portal setup do not do anything else, other than serving Portal requests.  In other words, no third party applications are installed on these servers.  We do not know why this particular instance is having a higher CPU load.  Is there anything that we can do to find out why this instance keeps having a higher CPU load?  Is there something we should be doing at the load balancer's end?
On a different note, the other dialog instance (DI2) is having high paging activities.  From one of the posts in the forums, it seems to indicate that the high paging might be an indication that the Portal is undergoing some garbage collection activities.  However, it does not make sense that only ONE instance is having high paging if garbage collection is carried out on.  How is it that the rest of the instances are not having high paging issues?  Has anyone come across this situation?  What should we do to find out what is going on behind the screens?
Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated.
    Thank You.

    Hi Dagfinn,
    Many thanks for your reply.
Question1: How is NetScaler configured with regards to stickyness?
We have NetScaler Persistence turned on, so that users' requests are served by the same dialog instance from the beginning to the end.  We found that if Persistence is not enforced, a user's request could be sent to a different dialog instance, which will cause data inconsistencies.  Can this be counted as stickyness?  I am not sure how Persistence is maintained.  It could be possible that it is done via IP...I will find out more from my colleague, who is maintaining NetScaler.
I guess we will need to have monitoring tools in place to determine the actual load distribution, as you have suggested in Question 2.  I guess we will have to consider the viable actions to be taken from what we shall observe...
Question 2: Can you get some data one how NetScaler is distributing the load in practice (not in theory, ie. configuration) ? (usually is a monitoring tool for this in such a product)
I believe my colleague has such tools.  I will try to obtain the relevant data and make the appropriate analysis.
Question 3: How many server nodes do you have for the central instance and for the two dialog instances?
We have 1 server node in the central instance and 3 server nodes for each of the dialog instance.
Many thanks again on your suggestion to choose a better score other than weighted round-robin.  We'll do the necessary analysis and decide a better score to use on NetScaler.

  • Freezing on start-up, odd display glitches and streaking: what's going on!?

    Hello all,
Recently the condition of my MacPro's performance has steadily declined and I have no idea what is going on. Upon cold start, the macpro freezes up when the desktop hasn't even properly loaded. Frequently, after having a normal start-up, I see odd graphical stretching and shearing of the display, as if someone were stretching a part of the display like rubber.
There will also occasionally be odd horizontal streaks (very thin, about a pixel or two wide) running across the screen.
To add to that, some video has not loaded properly in Safari and has caused frequent application freezes.
Can anyone pinpoint what is going on with my investment? Is it a graphics card issue, an issue with the HD, an issue of corrupt files/viruses, start-up items, or even dust?
It seems to be getting worse and its become really annoying.
I'm not even sure if turning it on is doing it any good anymore.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated!

Thanks, sorry I didn't post the specs but I was in a rush. I pulled the side off the tower tonight and I have the ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB card in my Mac Pro. It had been running fine since 2007.
I noticed it had some dust in it so I took everything apart on the tower and cleaned the whole thing. After I put it back together, I do not get the black streaking now. I still get some very small colored specs, but no freezing up of the system either.
If that card is prone to failure or dust issues = bad performance. Is there an option someone can suggest for the older dual core mac pro's?
    Thanks,
    John M.

  • My MacBook Pro force shut down three times in a row. What is going on?

I just updated my MacBook Pro from the app store and now my MacBook force shut down three times in a row.
I need to know what is going on. I am a college student and can't afford to waste time to figure this out. If it happens again I am just going to take it to a repair store to find out what is wrong. If it ends up that it can't be fixed then I will have to buy a new one on the spot.
I hope I don't have to buy a new MacBook Pro.

Reboot in safe mode and test again,

my band recently got our album on itunes, but now it is saying that the album is unavailable. but the artwork still pops up and everything. people have bought the album and you can even listen to previews of it... but it wont let you click on the album art or title. what's going on?

You would have to talk to itunes or your label about this.

  • My iPad just went black and the black travels up and down or side to side and I can't force it to close I don't get the red bar what's going on

My IPad just went blank/black/gray sometimes lines cannot force close as the red bar does not come up
The blank screen color travels up and down or side to side
    What is causing this
Either way when plug in or not the battery level is at 70%

    Try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Sometimes when I open a new tab, I get a blank burgundy screen that covers up the window and sometimes I can get rid of it and sometimes not. At this point, I'm ready to totally get rid of Firefox. what is going on?

When I click on the plus sign by tabs, a burgundy blank screen appears over my window, blocking the tab groups except for the top portion. I can still see the URL address field and the tabs above but when I click on a tab, it comes up beneath the blank burgundy new screen on my window. I then have to open a new window but I have to start over on the tabs. I can't use the ones behind the burgundy screen. sometime when I click on the home icon the blank screen goes away, sometimes not.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

  • My Apple TV menu keeps flickering between the standard menu and one that only has "Internet, Computers, and Settings" What is going on?

I will be watching a movie or tv show and it will just quit working, reverting back to a three selection menu. Then it will go to the standard menu and back, doing this a few times. I cant seem to get it to stop and it didnt happen when i first got the ATV.

I had this issue with both our Apple TVs and it turned out to be a bad router.
The router was generating enough radio interference on the Wi-Fi channels the Apple TVs used that they could not hold the signal, and were constantly associating/disassociating with the bad router.
I figured this out by monitoring the status logs on the Time Machine - Advanced tab, and seeing an associate/disassociate message every five seconds or so.
Removing the bad router fixed the problem.
