Compressor to Final Cut

Hi everyone,
So I was having trouble with laggy video playback so after clicking around through forums, I discovered that it was due to the fact the my voice-overs were recorded in 44.1khz as opposed to 48khz, which is what the rest of my audio is.
I was happy to discover the solution to my problem, but now have another to solve. I will record my future voice-overs in 48khz but I already have a good deal done in 44.1khz and need to convert them (hours of voice-over work done there).
Sooooooo.....
What is the best way to convert 44.1khz audio to 48khz?
I am currently sending the files to compressor, converting them to AIFF 48khz 16-bit, and then re-importing them into my timeline. This process is very time-consuming, especially due to the hundreds of files I must convert.
Is there an easier/more streamlined methd of converting 44.1khz files into 48khz files?
I hope someone knows the answer to this and maybe will solve others' questions about why their video is so laggy.

If your sequence settings are set for 48khz, then all you need to do is render the non-48khz audio as you have placed it in your sequence/timeline.
Make sure your render options are checked to include rendering audio (I usually turn all rendering options on):
Once you have rendered the audio, as far as the timeline is concerned, the audio is 48khz. If you have rendered the audio and still have "laggy" playback you have other issues.

You don't need to use Compressor. In FCP, Share>You Tube and then choose the quality setting you want.
Alternatively you can use Compressor to give you more control over your settings. If so, choose Share and either export a master file and bring that into Compressor…or SHare>Add Destination>Compressor settings.

I just purchased Compressor for Final Cut Pro X. Won't complete

Help please. I was so looking forward to Compressor working simply and effectively. I have an hour video in HD edited in Final Cut Pro x. Pulled down Compressor which I just bought. Every time I try to render it in a smaller compressed file from 1920 to 540 it starts the process but slowly starts off with an estimated completion time of 26 minutes to a day later still going at it and now estimates 48 hours!!!!!! It just gets longer and longer and doesn not complete. I tried numerous different settings and everytime the same result. Driving me nuts. Help please anyone. I will make you a cup of coffee!

HI Duane, it's worth trying to isolate the issues if it is compressor.app. If you have time you might expand a little in your procedure that you are using to use compressor so that others may offertheir advice.
Procedure;
see if the FCPX project is having issues being rendered within FCPX.
determine if you can export a master with FCPX.
see if compresor.app without Qmaster will transcode a distribution
Questions:
Are you using QMASTER? IF not that's a good start to help isolate your workflow issues.
FCPX Have you COMPLETELY rendered out the Storylines in your FCPX project? (do this first... yeah I know BG procesisng)... but try this first before procedding to step 3..
FCPX : WHen this is done (step 2), try and EXPORT | SHARE the project using the DEFAULT codec (Prores??) to a separate MASTER FILE...
Compressor.app: add the MASTER file from Step 3 to compressor.app as a batch and submit WITHOUT using QMASTER (This Computer) to make you new distribution ..
see if you get some satisfaction from the above.
IF you get through these steps then you may elimiate your FCPX project as the error cause and focus on compressor..for any errors (console.app) ..
Lastly, appreciate that FCPX must render some tranistory (intermediate) "master" in order to "Send to Compressor" (if that's what your workflow is) . It will render this first first. Check activuty monitor.app for "promsrenderer" subtasks. THis pre-flight renedering may take time and is managed by FCPX before is appears in Compressor.app. THis is why I ask you to try above procedure first.
If this work or doesn't let this thread know. Yell out if you need help.. plenty on this forum!
(BTW.. my coffee = beans for the Netherlands, ground locally in my machine served super strong with Japanese milk... frothy .. loll

Instructions: Create Blu-Ray disc in Compressor with Final Cut TImeline

I searched mightily for simple instructions on how to do this. The Compressor help files are woefully inadequate in providing a simple walkthrough to do this. Burning a Blu-ray directly from Final Cut does not allow one to optimize the conversion like compressor does. So:
1) Right click your chosen sequence in Final Cut
2) Click "Share" The Share dialog box will come up.
3) Choose "Blu-Ray" in the destination drop down in the top-left corner of the Share window (don't forget to choose the destination location of the files at the top of the dialog)
4) Click "Send to Compressor" in the bottom-left corner
Compressor will open and a job will automatically be created with Blu-ray video
and Dolby ac3 audio. Set options and submit as usual in Compressor

The send to compressor option occasionally creates problems. Most people would recommend exporting as a self-contained movie, then bringing that into compressor and using your workflow from there.

Compressor Closes Final Cut Pro 6 Project

This problem has just started happening: when exporting a sequence from within Final Cut via Compressor, using established built-in and custom settings (that worked last week!), Compressor begins to process the batch, but then Final Cut's window flashes and closes the project being exported! The resultant movie is empty black.
Any thoughts?

There may be a corrupt render file in the sequence. Or in the project, or in the preferences. Try exporting a QT reference movie, then close FCP and send the reference movie to Compressor, see if it quits that.

Can I use motion 5 and Compressor with Final Cut Pro 7?

Hi, Guys and Girls:
After reading a lot about the new Final Cut X I decided not to buy it. I´m not gonna say anything about it, pretty much everything has been said so there´s no point in being redundant about it.
So my question is this:
Can I use the new version of Motion and Compressor with the old Final Cut Pro 7?
I heard the new version of Motion is nice, not so sure about the new Compressor but any improvement would be nice.

Compressor in Final Cut Express?

I picked up a copy of Final Cut Express to do my video editing, and realized that it doesn't come with Compressor! Any idea how I can pick up a standalone copy, or is there a third party software that will do the same thing?
Is it even necessary, or will exporting with quicktime conversion work just as well?

Compressor greatest strength is that it's a batch processing tool. If you're doing a single podcast at a time that you want to encode for iPod, then there's no advantage to using Compressor. It'd be easier to do an export using QuickTime to an iPod formatted MPEG4.

Re-installing Qmaster and Compressor on Final Cut Server

I need to re-install Compressor and Qmaster on an xServe which is our Final Cut Server. I'm reading that re-installing from AppleQmasterNode.mpkg will not work, I have to do it from the Install Final Cut Server icon.
I'm wondering what effect, if any, re-installing Final Cut Server on our xServe will have on our client computers that run the Final Cut Server client application.

If you only remove Compressor & Qmaster by following http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1888, then running the Final Cut Server installation will only reinstall those items you removed. If you're on FCSVR 1.5.2, You will also need to run software update afterwards to update Compressor to 3.5.3.

Compressor without final cut x not working

hi I just bought Compressor 4 stand alone (with out installing Final Cut X) and I can't get any window to start draging files to work on it. I installed it on a MacBook Air 1,4 gha Core 2 Duo... Do I need FCX to make it work? is it the MBA the problem? is it me?

When the OP states dragging to any window, I'm confused, as you don't drag to any random window. You can drag appropreate files to the Batch window only. And what specific type of files are being dragged there?

Exporting to compressor using final cut studio

All user and sequence settings are correct prior to placing video files on the time line in fcpro
When exporting to compressor to render for mpeg 2 for dvd pro - compressor changes my setting from 16:9 to 4:3 regardless of what ever else I do.

1-what version of FCS?
2-How are you getting the elements to Compressor?

Is there anything like compressor for FCP´s little brother FCE? I need to encode Movies into MPEG 1 Muxed (Mpeg 2,4 and Flash) and bug them.
Are there any applications that allow batch processings and so on?

There a number of other applications that can do what you want, Sorenson Squeeze, Cleaner, Telestream Episode. They all have demo versions.

Problem exporting from final cut pro to compressor

Hi,
I'm trying to export to compressor from Final cut pro, but every time i do so, I keep getting the same error message 'Selection contains no media' but it does. It will export to Quicktime fine. I'm only trying to export to compressor so I can save it as an mp2 file.
I'm using FCP V5.0.4
Compressor V2.0.1
Mac OS X V10.4.8
Also on previous versions of FC I could output to Mp2 and it would include the chaper markers, my last sucessfull project, it did not.
Any help would be greatfully recieved.

Quicktime Export Components in Final Cut Server

Our company has purchased a number of Elgato h264 encoders and we're loving them. They reduce our h264 compression times on average from 15-20 mins down to 2-3 mins. It usually compresses our videos faster than real time. Which as a news organization is great for us. These encoders work great on all our Macbook Pros & Mac Pro systems. I've now installed one onto our final cut server and set up a custom compressor setting. Under the 'encoder' tab the file format had to be set to "Quicktime Export Components" instead of "Quicktime Movie" to use the Elgato. And it works great when I send a single file threw compressor. BUT I can't get this custom preset to show up or work inside Final Cut Server. I have other custom settings that do show up and work (but they are all "Quicktime Movie" file formats). I've rebooted multiple times and looked under multiple Responses transcode settings, but the new one I've created to use the Elgato never shows up.
Is it possible to use Quicktime Export Components in Final Cut Server?
I couldn't find any mention of this in the FCS admin manual or any other posts in the forums regarding this.

I have seen on MediaSilo.com a tip to get Elgato H.264 working with Compressor, but I can't seem to be able to find it. Basically, the trick was to create a duplicate setting in Compressor that Final Cut Server is able to read ( not as Quicktime Export Component), associate it with a Final Cut Server's compression setting and later reassign that setting in Compressor to Elgato.
I will keep diggin' for this tip, it was actually a screen recording.
