Compressor WMV duration error

I export Quicktime reference movies from FCP and take them into Compressor to convert the file to a WMV movie. After the WMV is created it is consistently SHORTER than my original. My work around is to lengthen my black slug at the end to ensure that the WMV movie will end in black. This seems to be a silly problem and I don't like the trial-and-error of my work around.
1) Has anyone else experienced this?
2) Work-around / solution suggestions?
Thanks!

Okie dokie. Looking back over your entire thread, I need to ask what the production timeline is and what are the exported format settings?
AFAIK, there's no reason for Flip to treat your clips any differently than all other codecs. That is, if you export a 4 minute clip out of FCP and Flip only processes 3:29:15 of it, every other codec should do the same thing. Do they?

  • Compressor: Failed: QuickTimer Error: 0

When compressing with Compressor I get error message: Failed: QuickTime Error: 0
This happens when I am exporting from Final Cut Pro HD (photo Jpeg video), and also when I am compressing from Final Cut movie file (with current settings and not self contained).
Does anyone know what this error message means?

    On G4 dual 1Ghz, 768 MB ram, OS X 10.3 works OK.
    Thank you!

Use the System Profiler to review what is in the system and console logs. You may find a message or error there that will tell you more about what is happening. Note, there will almost certainly be other warnings or errors in these logs, that's fairly normal, you want to look for something that is related to QuickTime or Compressor (et.al.) or one of the files you are trying to process.

  • Project duration error requiring DVD+RDL disc

When going to burn a project, I encountered a project duration error. It read: "Your project is too large for a single-layer disc. Insert a double-layer disc." So I ran out and picked up a stack of DVD+RDLs, came back, and popped one into my SuperDrive. Alas, I am still receiving the same error message. Ideas anyone? (The DVD+RDLs are the Memorex brand.)

Did you tell iDvd you are now using DL Media as opposed to SL? (This is one item the app doesn't yet detect on it's own).
Btw .... if you are still having issues even after addressing the correct settings, then you may wish to consider trying Verbatim or Maxell as opposed to Memorex. The 2 former brands are a bit more reliable on most macs than Memorex.

  • Content duration error

When I export to iDVD I get a content duration error on my IMovie file -  any tricks to fix this error?

    Hi
    Two problems
    • Do not "Share to iDVD" - BUT "Share to Media Browser" and as Large (Not HD or other resolutions as the result then will suffer)
and in iDVD Import from Media button then Select Movie and here find Your movie and Drag and Drop it into the Menu window.
    • iDVD - Doesn't care about size in Gbs or Mbs at all only in Duration
Duration is added Movie lengths in time PLUS Menu time and this can be 15 minutes or more
iDVD 08, 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities. (version 7.0.1, 7,0.4 & 7.1.1) and iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST (but not always for short movies e.g. up to 45 minutes in total)
    • Best Performances
(movies + menus  less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD (Can be best for short movies)
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6)
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
Menu can take 15 minutes or even more - I use a very simple one with no audio or animation like ”Brushed Metal” in old Themes.
    About double on DL DVDs.
HOW long in time is Your Movie/s ?
    Yours Bengt W

  • Xmlgen duration error

I'm trying to get the XML generated by xmlgen out to an oradynaset, and I always get the duration error. This seems to be true for any temporary CLOB, not just the CLOB xmlgen creates. If I create a new temporary CLOB and copy the xmlgen CLOB to it the result is the same. I can get persistant CLOBs back.

I believe the problem is that the CLOB is being created with the wrong duration so it is being freed as soon as xmlgen.getXML() returns. To get around this call xmlgen.setLobDuration( DBMS_LOB.SESSION ) before calling xmlgen.getXML and all should be well.

  • Invalid Duration error in MS Project 2010

    Hi,
I have a user who has brought an issue to me.  He is a regular user of MS Project.  When he opens up his .mpp file he instantly gets an error of "Invalid Duration.  This is not a valid duration or it is outside the range for this field".
He has tried out every validation resolution option there is, he has looked at unpublished work items, he has also checked it through Excel.  He has re-entered the data, checking the format of every single piece of data.  Nothing was wrong and none
of these checks have made any difference.   If he clicks on the Ok button on the error message, the file does then appear to operate normally with no issues, but he can't be 100% sure this is the case due to this message re-occurring every time he
opens it again.  Is there anyone that has any ideas why this might be happening.  Please could someone throw some light on this ...?
    Thank you,  Lisa

Check if using Macro on the plan. Similar issue has been fixed in June 2013 for project 2010, not sure which version you have seen the reported problem.
    Project 2010 hotfix package (Project-x-none.msp): June 11, 2013
    'http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2817385'
You run a macro that sets the duration of a custom duration field for a task in a project in Project 2010. When you save and then reopen the project, you receive the following error message:
    Invalid Duration
This is not a valid duration, or is outside the range for this field.
Type a duration in the correct format: for example, 4 hours (or 4h), 12 days (or 12d), or 2ed for elapsed days.
If its 2010, test with the above cu as its latest one.
If this isn't case, please try using XML and check if that helps.
If above doesn't help, provide information on project version and past history of plan, like was it created in past version and now opened in other version, etc.

  • Project Duration error message when loading short iDVD 5 project in iDVD 6

My iDVD 5 project is very short - a total of about 7 minutes (including video and an audio loop for the menu). The video clips were exported as DV NTSC non-self-contained quicktimes from Final Cut Pro.
When I attempt to load the project into iDVD 6, I get the following error message:
    Project duration
Your project exceeds the maximum content duration. To burn this project, remove some content.
Twirling down the triangle for more info gives:
    Project:
    - total project duration: -2147483648:-2147483648 minutes
    - total project capacity: 429496729 GB (max. available: 4.172 GB)
Also, trying to open the Project Info window crashes iDVD.
I haven't attempted burning, but I'm pretty sure it'd be a waste of a DVD.
My only thought is that iDVD 6 somehow is misreading the non-self-contained quicktimes, but I've never had an issue with them before, and it'd be a drag to redo all my projects with space-hogging self-contained versions.

Many people had trouble opening iDVD 5 projects in iDVD 6 when it first came out. My one iDVD 5 wouldn't open at all.

  • Windows bad image in Vista playing wmv file error

I have created a multimedia file with movieclips and audio. The file plays perfectly on XP2 and XP3 machines. However I have one Vista machine which reports a bad image error when clicking the play button for the movie. This error will display after three attempts after which the file will play without problem. The file embedded in Acrobat 8 is a WMV file.
The error message is as follows: Exception processing image
    0xc000007b parameters 0x75AD023C 0x75AD023C 0x75AD023C 0x75AD023C
The vista laptop is the one we use to demo files so it would be great to establish what the problem is. Do not have access to another vista machine to compare.
    Many thanks

I tried the 8.1.2. upgrade but for some reason it made no difference...however installing Acrobat 9 Reader helped and cleared the error. This is a little disturbing because companies are not as ready to install updates (some are still using Acro 5) so it is difficult to acertain what the receiver is seeing. But yes 9 fixed the problem.

  • Compressor 2 - Quicktime error 0 revealed

After upgrading to the latest version of QT, FCP5, DVDSP4, and Compressor 2 with all the latest fixes I could not compress a 1 hr 46 min video on my quad G5 without getting the dreaded quicktime 0 error message. I spent days trying to get around this and finally settled on getting the job done through DVDSP, (see my post "compressor 2 what works for me").
I finally decided to track down the problem by spliting my project in half to see which half was failing. Then I spilt that half in two and so on for hours until I found the problem video. Turns out I had a "spin 3D" transition between a slow motion clip at 50% and a clip at regular speed. I added 1 sec of regular speed to the slo mo clip so the transition would fall between to clips at regular speed and the problem was solved. My 1hr 46 min video compressed in 3hrs 30 min. (still not as quick as the 1 hr 10 min from DVDSP4 but thats another story).
Conclusion - "Quicktime error 0" seems to be Compressors way of saying "sorry this is too complex for me." I am sure there are other combinations of transitions, filters, etc. that will cause this problem as well so APPLE, IF YOU ARE READING THIS we need a fix.
I will try more expirements but complexity in the time line seems to be the cause of compressors failure due to quicktime error 0.

I am having the same issue. I have recently purchased quicktime pro and updated to lion, I dont know if that is that causes the failure but this *****! it's the 4rth time i try to compress a 15 minute file, it takes about 3 hours and when there is 10 minutes to go.... pooooof!!! game over!

  • IDVD 6 and "menu duration" error

I have created an iMovie and then an iDVD project. When I attempt to burn an .img file I got an error: "Total menu duration exceeds 15 minutes" The Loop Duration goes to 12:14 minutes. How do I correct this? I'm really getting frustrated on this.

    I apparently missed this.

  • Compressor Quick Time error: 0

I was sending a sequence from FCP7 to Compressor, but kept getting  Failed Quick  Time error : 0. Went back to the time line in FCP7 tried to render the sequence but it failed too, after sometime I narrowed down the clip with the problem and found there were frames missing or shifting( not sure what they were doing, take a look at the screen shot you can see right at her shoulders a split screen effect) and a few frames latter the audio dropped out. Here are some screen shots of what it looked like. Because it would render the audio I just cut out the effected video and replaced it with some B- roll and it worked.

    no any audio mp3

  • "Project Duration" error -- preference does not affect message

"Project duration: Your project exceeds the maxiumum project duration. To burn your DVD, change the encoder setting in iDVD preferences to Best Quality."
but it doesn't matter if it's set to Best Quality or not. i still get the error message and can't burn my DVD.

    Hi.
Had he same problem. Changing the setting in the preference did not help. What solved my problem was to open project info (Menu -> Project -> Project Info , or Apple - I) and change the setting there. It immediatly readjusted (and also had to re encode from beginning of course).
Hope this helps you as well.

  • "Project Duration" error when burning

I have a 2x Superdrive in an iMac G4 800Mhz, and I am using iDVD (ver. 5.0.1) to burn a iMovie HD (ver. 5.0.2) file to a 2x DVD. When I hit the "burn" button in iDVD, I get the following error message:
"Your project exceeds the maximum allowed content duration. You will not be able to burn your DVD while your Encoder Setting is Best Performance. This can be changed in your iDVD Preferences."
First of all, my project is only 29 minutes long. So, the project duration should not be an issue. Second, when I go into the iDVD Preferences and change the Encoder Setting from Best Performance to Best Quality (as the error message suggests), I am able to begin the burning process, but I eventually get this error message:
    "Error during rendering/encoding."
I have 21 GB (out of 60 GB) of free space on my internal HD, and I have 29 GB (out of 60 GB) of free space on my external HD. The external HD is where my iMovie HD file is located, as well as my iDVD project.
Can anyone help me burn this to DVD?

I can think of two factors that might lead to this problem. the first is that, since your project length is under an hour, iDVD will probably try encoding it using "Best Performance" settings. Check Preferences>General>Encoder Settings to see if this is the case. A quick fix might be to simply change this to "Best Quality" instead, which accomodates longer DVDs.
As for how a 29 minute DVD can exceed the maximum duration of a disc, there is a problem a few people have had with transferring iMovie projects into iDVD (myself included) where the project length mysteriously doubles in iDVD. Annoying for small projects like yours but deadly for those exceeding 1 1/2 hours.
...check your status tab and confirm that your project is indeed 29 minutes still and not something like 58. if your footage has in fact doubled in length please see this post:

  • FCPX Export Compressor Settings QT Error -2045 and more...

I have a 56 minute FCPX project that won't export. I've tried standard h264 and using Compressor settings for HD 720 for YouTube / Video.
Most recent error is QuickTime Error -2045 - can't find this error documented anywhere.

    1) What is -2045 error
    2) What is the proper decoder to use for XVID
    3) I do get a warning that there is missing media, effects, titles or generators - and I can see the inspector tell me that these are related to motionVFX Project 543 (see error above) but I can't find any instance of these effects not implemented. So, how can you quickly find any missing media (redzone) or other in a FCPX project without scrolling or playing through it. If something is missing I would expect that I should be able to quickly have my playhead jump to the missing media segment within my project. But I can't figure out how.
    4) I need to deliver this project and can't get a suitable export and I'm on deadline, so any thoughts are appreciated. My ideal output is a file to load to Vimeo; secondly a good quality Quicktime movie would be nice. The file is about 50GB (my guess) I need less than 5GB and 720p HD
    Thanks
