Compressor Won't Add Files to Source

For some reason my Compressor won't add any files to the source.
For example I'm trying to add a ~30GB .mp4 to the source so that I convert it.
Not sure what other details I can give other than this.

When you open the files in QuickTime Player, do they have a buffer bar that needs to load before they can be played back?  If so, Compressor likely needs to fully load the video before it can work with the file. I've run into this with .mkv files, so maybe the .mp4 files sourced from .mkv have the same behavior.
In these cases I generally save a referenced .mov file from Quicktime 7 Pro and drop that in Compressor for a smoother workflow.  It still needs to fully buffer in QT7 Pro before you can do a Save As, though.

  • ITunes won't add files or folders

For the last couple of days I've been having a problem where iTunes won't add files or folders for no discernible reason. Yesterday I was able to add a few videos, then I wasn't. Today after reinstalling iTunes it added my music just fine, but when that was finished and I wanted to add something else, nothing. I don't know why it's doing this. Drag and drop doesn't work, either. When I try to bring a file over, I get a little red circle with the line through it saying it can't do it.
    Help?

Ok. So its finally working again. Not sure why, but maybe my experience will help someone else.
All I can say is that I have been trying a relentless combination of mounting and mounting the drive, checking and unchecking the 'copy files to iTunes Library', running 'consolidate library', and everything in between. One of them finally kicked it back into action.
Nice Apple. 9.2.1 isn't buggy at all...that's sarcasm.

  • 11.2.1 won't add files to library

When I updated to 11.2.1, I found that I can no longer add files to my iTunes. I'm trying to add mp3 files by double-clicking on them, right-clicking and "opening with iTunes" using the "Add to library" function off the file menu...to no avail. Sometimes, I'll see the status window showing that files are being added, but I cannot find them in my library. Repeated searches of all kinds of failed. While it implies that they are being added, I do not see them.
So, in essence, I can play songs that are currently in my library, but not add anything new. This ***** because I just bought a bunch of stuff and can't listen to it, nor get it on my iPhone.
Not sure what to do to solve this. I've of course restarted my computer several times and that makes no difference so far.
    Please help.

    Hello there, LoveSavesLives.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great guidelines in regards to importing content to iTunes:
Adding music and other content to iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1473
    Particularly:
Adding content on your computer to iTunes
iTunes helps you add digital audio and video files on your computer directly to your iTunes library. You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format. If you have unprotected WMA content, iTunes for Windows can convert these files to one of these formats. You can also add video content in QuickTime or MPEG-4 format to iTunes. To learn how to add these files to iTunes follow the steps below.
    Open iTunes
From the File menu, choose one of the following choices:
    MacAdd to Library
    Windows
    Add File to Library
    Add Folder to Library
Navigate to and select the file or folder that you want to add
If iTunes is set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library," iTunes will copy all content that is added to the iTunes library to the iTunes Music folder. To adjust this setting or change the location of this folder, go to the Advanced tab in iTunes Preferences.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Cannot add files to iTunes - iTunes won't add files

I have just purchased a new Macbook Pro. I then used an external hard drive to transfer music files from my desktop PC to the Macbook Pro. I copied the files directly to the iTunes Music folder on the Macbook, and then through the "Add to Library" option in iTunes added the entire "iTunes Music" folder to iTunes. I then noticed that certain files did not show up in the iTunes Music list. I verified that the files had been copied to the iTunes Music folder on the Macbook Pro, which they had, but they will not add to the Music list in iTunes. The problematic files will however open with the Quicktime player. I have also tried the following:
    - dragged and dropped files to iTunes (result was simply nothing. The files did not show up in iTunes).
    - Uninstalled and Reinstalled iTunes (didn't help)
    - Cleared the "Music" list in iTunes and then re-added all of the files again. (same files still would not show up in the iTunes Music list)
    - Tried moving the files from my desktop PC to the Macbook Pro with a different external hard drive. (still no luck).
I have found other posts with the same problem but have not found a solution. Please help!

Same issue, on an OS X machine.

  • ITunes 10.5 won't add to library OR play any audio files prior to update

I recently updated to iTunes 10.5 on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8, and iTunes won't add any of my old music files to the library, regardless of what directory they are in. The permissions on all files and folders of interest are read and write. I've tried directing the library to sevral different places, deleting the library files, etc. etc. Nothing works. Not only this, but iTunes won't even open ANY of the old files when I click on them, even though they all have the iTunes icon. Additionally, when I move the files in the library but don't tell iTunes in preferences, they still play (there are two songs in the library I just downloaded from the store to figure out what's going on). Anyone have any ideas here, this is a mess. Oh, forgot to mention I reinstalled iTunes as well and that didn't resolve any issues. Have tried restarting the computer also. Thanks for any thoughts,
    Brad

  • Can "Add w/o copying" add metadata to source files on HD?

    Hi all.
I wonder, is there a way to add metadata to source files on a hard drive that you are copying into Lightroom without adding?
    Bill

    Bill Truran wrote:
I have 2 Lightroom catalogs of about 65,000 images.
Therefore, I only import by copying (with metadata) without moving.
My question is: If I import in this way, can I write the same metadata to the files on the hard drives?
the simple answer is YES, you can write metadata to files. (I don't know what you mean by "same" metadata)
What I don't understand, because you probably need to explain in more detail: why 2 catalogs are relevant to this issue? and what the word "same" is doing in your question?
It sounds like you are trying to synchronize the metadata between two catalogs. If that's what you are trying to do, it would simply be easier to put everything into a single catalog, and not have this issue at all.

  • ITunes won't add large files to the library

I use software to convert my personal DVDs into Apple TV format via H.264 decoder for 720p resolution. The resulting files are typically larger than 3GB for a 2 hour movie. Now iTunes won't add them to my library so I can't sync them or stream them to my Apple TV.
Any advice? Is there a setting in iTunes that I overlooked?
I have tried the mpg4 conversion setting for 480 resolution and those files will load into iTunes and stream to Apple TV, but they are grainy and a horrible quality. So for those saying I don't need to use the H.264, I am picky and want a high quality resolution.
Thanks for any advice and help.

It is possible that there is something else wrong with my files. Several mp4 files worked fine prior to getting a new iMac and transferring the files over (using ext HDDs, not the migration wizard). Quicktime won't even open the files in question. It states that they are not movie files.
Sounds odd, they may be corrupted.
Try enusring the file extensions are either .mp4 or .m4v (or .mov perhaps).
3GB+ for a file intended for AppleTv 2 hours long sounds excessive and may exceed AppleTv playback specs but it shouldn'tbother quicktime. If the files don't open in QT they may well be corupted.

  • ITunes 7 won't add more than one file at a time

Hello everyone. I have a weird problem with iTunes 7.0.2. Every time I try to add multiple files to the iTunes library using the Add File To Library feature, it doesn't do anything. Adding one file at a time is possible, but tedious. Adding multiple files from a folder (using Add Folder To Library) does work, but shouldn't be necessary. I haven't had this problem with iTunes 7.0.2 on the Mac, and didn't have this issue with iTunes 6.0.5 and before on Windows. Any idea what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.
    -Adam

Maybe I misunderstood your post, but this sounds like a suggestion rather than a problem.
You can provide iTunes feedback here:

If your post was a question, post back and I'll see if I can help.
I hope this solves your problem!

  • Won't add more than 3 video files at a time

I had 22 episodes or a TV show in mp4 format, average size 124MB, to add to my iTunes. When I go "Add file to library" and select all 22 episodes, nothing happens. I search for the files in iTunes and they are not added. If I add 3, not MORE than 3, at a time, everything works fine. Is there an add limit? Why?

In what program? What model mac? How much RAM? How full is your disc?

  • Specific mp3 files won't add to the iTunes library

First off, thanks if you try help me.
I ran into a problem a while ago where 10 songs in the album "In Rainbows" by Radiohead simply wouldn't play in iTunes but had previously played without a hitch in the past. These songs were downloaded through radiohead's site and were not DRM'd and were all mp3s encoded at 160 kbps. Strangely enough, the songs continued to play just fine on my iPod. Anyway, I thought I would just try to remove the songs from the library and bring them back just to see if it helps at all. To my dismay, none of the songs would even populate the iTunes library no matter what I did, I tried using File>Add folder to library, File>Add file to library, and even simply dragging the songs over, but all to no avail.
At this point I tried to reinstall iTunes, but this didn't fix the problem either, but strangely I don't think that the xml file (or whatever the **** iTunes uses) that contains information about the library was removed because all of my other songs were listed in the library as soon as I started iTunes after the uninstall-reinstall.
I'm really perplexed now, as the songs all play fine in Quicktime, VLC, and WMP, but don't seem to want to work with iTunes. I was thinking it might be an iTunes-Vista problem, but I'm not sure.
Sorry for the extremely long post, I'm just trying to provide any useful information.

Hey, I found a way to fix this from a post in another thread. I downloaded a program to remove the id3 tags (just google id3 tag remover), removed them all, then added the files to itunes. No problems so far, but who knows if they'll mysteriously stop working again.

  • ITunes won't add pdf file to library

Using iTunes 10.7 on Mac OS 10.6.8
Simply trying to add a PDF file (created in Word for Mac 2011 v. 14.2.4) to my iTunes library so I can upload it to my iPad.
I have done this many times before with no problems. Suddenly my iTunes will not add my files to the library.
I did just run an automatic Mac software update (not sure what it was), and an recent update from Microsoft, but nothing out of the ordinary and I can't see why that would affect whether iTunes adds files.
Tried looking in HELP function but fould nothing remotely related.
Have no idea what to do now.
Any suggestions?  This is something that I do a lot of so I'm having a real breakdown here!
    Thank you for any help.

  • I-Tunes 7 won't add more than 9 files at a time to library

  • HT1473 I click "add file to library" and then the song i want, but it doesn't come up

Im really POed at the new iTunes on so many levels. first, the iCloud makes all songs i bought when i was 11 and deleted when i was 13 again. me and my little sister share the same account, but we have different computers so we don't have each other's song. now, thanks to iCloud, we do. i do not want carrie underwood or justin bieber, abd she doesn't want david bowie and led zeppelin. right now, the icloud isn't working, which is fine right now, but it's not right.
ok, about "adding music and other content to iTunes." you used to be able to drag a file from your documents to your library and it would be copied onto it. i am under the impression that that isn't the case anymore. I've tried a billion times and it hasn't worked. even when im on the led zeppelin section of my library and i drag "over the hills and far away" it won't budge; there's still only 6 albums and 10 songs. so i clicked "add file to library" and then the song i want, but it doesn't come up. and i did this a zillion times with a bunch of different songs, and nothing.
another problem is that the files are screwy. "houses of the holy" is on the album physical graffiti, not houses of the holy. if i edit the song's info to physical graffiti, all the other songs that are supposed to be on houses of the holy go into physical grafitti. when i go to song info, they still say houses of the holy. i just tried changing it again, and now all my led zeppeling albums are labeled houses of the holy. WHAT IS THIS MADNESS!?!?!?!?!
    #NewiTunesSucks

    Go to edit-preferences-advanced-
uncheck 'keep itunes media folder organised'
Then  make changes and see if itunes keeps the new info...
But warning! if you allow iTunes to organise your files in the future  these change will be undone I believe.

  • How to add a data-source.xml to the project to config DB connections and to be SCM'ed

I'd like to explicitly manage a data-sources.xml for my JSP + BC4J project.
Any helps on getting the released Jdev to add a data-source.xml that would then
be what the .ear deploys to OC4J?
    Thanks, curt

    I have a JSP + BC4J project:
So far my naive experiments to explicitely add data-sources.xml to a
project that is picked up by the deploy to .ear step and put in the
root of the .ear have failed.
Is this one of those gaps like the orion-application.xml file, that has no
    solution at present?
Or is the back-door via adding an EJB component to my project, then deleting it??
    Thanks, curt
