CompUSA USB 2.o Card, iTunes 7.02, iPod with Video Problem

I just purchased a new 80 gig iPod with video and had to upgrade my MDD Duak 1 Ghz for USB 2.0, as transfer in USB 1 takes far too long. I purchased a card from CompUSA (SKU 304244) which adds two external ports only. When I attempt to transfer files into the iPod it seems to function at the faster speed, but will then freeze on a file, not allowing me to eject the iPod or sometimes to even force quit iTunes. I have tried this several times and there is no consistency regarding how many files have transferred or their size as to when the freeze will occur.
I originally tried this without adding a driver (using OS X 10.4.8), then I added the one from the included disc - same results. I then re-installed the 10.4.8 updater thinking this might have a more recent driver, but things are still the same.
I don't have any other USB 2 devices to use to test the card.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not all of the USB2 PCI cards out there are completely compatible with Mac as they claim to be.
I tried a two-port IOGear card that had that same problem.
Replace it with a 5 port (1 internal and 4 external) Belkin and it works just fine.
Someone has had a list somewhere of the ones that work best. I know that Belkin is one of the good brands to buy for loading a video iPod on a PowerMac. There are others, though.
You might find more on it in the video iPod board.

  • ITunes not recognising iPod's video capabilities

When iTunes is up and the iPod is connected and I go into the options for the iPod, the options in the Video tab are shaded out. Whenever I try dragging a video onto the iPod it says they can not be viewed on this iPod. I KNOW this is a 5th Gen iPod with video capabilities.

You need to add the video to iTunes first, and then synch with the iPod. I don' think you can simply drag a video directly to the iPod.

  • ITunes keeps saying that my 60GB iPod with Video is corrupted when it's not

I have an 60GB iPod with Video that iTunes keeps saying is corrupted when I connect it to my MacBook Pro. Although it seems to only happen after using it for more than a short amount of time before syncing it. I just watched a 5 minute video after I ejected my iPod and when I synced it after that, iTunes did not say it was corrupted. Although when I used it for over 3 hours earlier today and synced it, iTunes said it was corrupted. When iTunes says it is corrupted, I eject the iPod and resync it, and it's always fine the second time. This issue has been ongoing for a month or two now and it's starting to get annoying. I bought the iPod last June.

it can be some corrupted files or bad sectors on the HD of your iPod, see doing the following helps
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”

  • Why can I login to iTunes from my phone with no problem, but I can't login to iTunes from my desktop.

Why can I login to iTunes from my phone with no problem, but I can't login to iTunes from my desktop using the same login credentials. I can use a different appleID and login to itunes with no problem.

Thanks for your reply.  I mean that only when all of my music in the cloud is shown on my phone can I delete the music stored on my phone.  I should be able to delete music that is stored on my phone when I can view ONLY the music that is taking up the phone's memory.

how do i sync the podcasts on itunes to my ipod with ios7?

Have you updated iTunes on the computer?    If you updated your iPod! but not iTunes, you will have communication errors.
Have you backed up and updated your iPod?   You should back up regularly.   Update to keep your device working well with current iTunes.
Once you have iTunes working well on the computer and have a backup saved (find your back up time and date on your iPod in settings, or on the computer under the iTunes pull-down menu, under "Preferences", choose the Devices tab and look in the box for your backup.
    Next option...
    Restore your iPod from backup

  • SanDisk USB 3.0 Card Reader does not work with OSX Mavericks.

Since updating to OSX Mavericks (10.9) My  USB 3.0 SanDisk "ImageMate All-in-One" Card Reader has begun to fail.
It all seems to work proper at first. The memory card shows up in finder and I'm able to browse the files. But when I try to transfer any files it un-mounts from finder and only transfers the first file.
This does not happen under previous OSX versions. I have tried on other computers since, so the card reader is fine.
My USB 2.0 card reader saved my life this time. It works totally fine.
Is this a known problem? Are you guys working on it?

  • Why doesn't iTunes see my iPod 80gb Video since I upgraded to OSX 10.4?

I upgraded to Tiger from Leopard a couple of weeks ago and haven't been able to sync my iPod since. I've rebooted both the iPod and my Mac, Re-installed iTunes, replaced the ipod.plist and DRM key, and done everything on the Apple Help:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61937 "Mac OS X 10.4.x-Install the latest available Mac OS X 10.4.x update. If you are already using the latest version of Mac OS X 10.4, or if updating does not help, perform an archive installation of Mac OS X 10.4.
I didn't do the "Archive installation which I can't do because there isn't enough room to copy the internal hard dive data onto itself. Please tell me why my iPod appears in the finder, but iTunes just won't recognize it!

    Hi mattweb,
Windows is probably confusing your iPod with a USB network device. In this case, definetely try assigning your iPod a different drive letter.
If "My Computer" recognizes your iPod, then try performing the steps below:
1 - Don’t plug in your iPod yet.
2 - Go to "START -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools (if you don't see this, click on "classic view" button on the left panel) -> Computer Management."
3 - Click on the "Disk Management" button in the left panel area.
4 - Now, with "Computer Management" and Control Panel windows opened, reset your iPod, and connect it.
5 - Right-click on your iPod's listing there (after a few moments when it gets recognized in this drive window), and click on "Change Drive letter and Paths". Then the "Change..." button.
Here's what it should look like:
Assign your iPod the letter "M" "N", "O" or the like (further along in the alphabet).
For more details, see this article:

    I hope this helps you,

  • Itunes/ipod with colour problem

recently, ive been having problems with my ipod. i accidently dropped it onto concrete a couple of months back, and since then, it keeps coming up with the sad ipod icon. fortunately, tho im sure it doesnt do it any good, a swift smack to the back of it, and a restart usually gets it to work.
a couple of days a go, i had a pop-up on itunes saying that my ipod was corrupt, and needed to be restored. i clicked cancel the first time, but it came up again when i restarted itunes. i done this, and everything was fine. no sad ipod icon. however, now itunes wont open when my ipod is connected, but when it isnt, it'll load fine. i've tried it on my other pc without the internet, but that says about the ipod software not being installed properly.
i also cant access it via my computer on either computer, they both freeze, and stop responding.
i didnt buy my ipod from apple, so im pretty sure i cant just send it to them to get it fixed/whatever they can do. is there anything i can do, or would it be easier just to get a newer ipod?
ipod with colour   Windows XP Pro

if still does not solve try this
. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    Tips
    a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iTunes 7.
    b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
    c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”

  • ITunes 11 and iPod Classic Playlists - Problem?

I have an iPod Classic dedicated to use in my car [lives in the glove compartment]. A couple of days ago I decided to completely refresh the content, so plugged it in to my Mac Mini and set to work. First step was a factory reset, then a check for updates [none - it was running the latest OS] and then I loaded up about 156Gb of music data [all Apple Lossless].
Returning this to my car, I have discovered that it now plays music as before, but that it no longer recognises playlists. So for example, in my iTunes client, I have a PlayList folder called "_Compilations" [the underscore, _, brings it to the top of the list], in which I store about 8 or 9 playlists I have dedicated for use in my car. I can no longer access any of those playlists from my in-car stereo.
***Nothing*** has changed in this configuration, except the fact that I have upgraded to iTunes 11. There have been no changes to the configuration or firmware of the Pioneer in-car system, which is an AVIC-920BT
    http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/GPS-Navigation/AVIC-X920BT
and the factory reset of the iPod did not result in any firmware or other updates. I have re-loaded the iPod with the exact same load-out as I had before, but this makes no difference. I have tried a variety of different things, but for some reason, within the "_Compilations" folder [which the Pioneer can see and let me navigate to] the Pioneer can only see a huge collection of individual songs.
I bought the Pioneer new with the car in May 2011 and it has given me no trouble since then.
I would be very grateful if anyone can suggest if anything has changed, in iTunes 11, with respect to playlist management, or if they can think of any other reason why I would suddenly see this unusual [and wrong] behavior. Oh, for what it's worth, if I remove the iPod from the car and use it with earbuds, all my playlists are present and correct and work perfectly via the wheel controller. This looks very much like some form of config change...
Any feedback or suggestion would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • ITunes content on iPod with 2 computers

I really do not understand what is going on with my iPod.  I normally get iTunes store content on my Mac at home.  However, today I did not do that and while at work on my PC downloaded a new TV show using iCloud.  I then tried to put this TV show on my iPod touch but got the strangest error message.  iTunes told me that this iPod was linked to another iTunes library (which it is, my Mac at home) and that if I wanted to transfer this content from my work computer, then I would have to link my iPod to this library.  Doing so  I am warned will wipe my iPod clean of all the other TV shows.
What is this error message all about?  Why can't I transfer a show I bought from Apple onto my iPod using my work computer without wiping my iPod clean?  Just exactly what is going on here?
    Thank you for your help.

    lllaass wrote:

Thank you for the link.  However, even if I follow the directions, and tell itunes that i will manage files manually, I still get the error message that my iPod is linked to another library and if I want to transfer over files from my second computer, Itunes will WIPE clean all the other content from my iPod.
VERY VERY frustrating.  I cannot use my new iPod with two computers.
    WHY?

  • Reviews keep disappearing from iTunes!  Anyone else with this problem?

In the good old days, one could always bring back up a review for further editing.
Now, often, the reviews disappear--one can labor over a multi-paragraph review, click submit--and then it's vanished-- even before being reviewed by Apple or being posted or being there to edit.
This has happened especially on the iPad Air-- in fact, this morning, I tapped the wrong place--outside of the dialog box--and the review vanished.  Another time, the keyboard was blocking a pop up and when I tried to move the keyboard, iTunes vanquished the review!
I'm now taking to typing out the reviews in other apps; ones that I know are reliable.  I then copy and paste.  It's not a bad system; indeed, it's a good one as you then have a local copy of whatever you submit.  But, I keep getting caught from time to time-- have Siri help me write a review directly in the App Store app and then losing all my hard work!
So, I'm wondering if others have seen this or not--or, if there are some tricks I'm missing about writing reviews on the App Store!

Fair point as well...however...with AppleTV coming down the pike some of us are trying to move iTunes library over to a network drive to stream through AppleTV to TV or Stereo. In my case, having iTunes on the network drive means I do not need to be connected to the network in order for someone to stream to AppleTV or their Mac since up to five users can share a library. In addition, the 3.5GB and growing iTunes library frees up much needed space on my MBP. If I can get this set up working I can rip all the CDs we have all over the house and stored on the networked drive.
To answer the earlier questions. I have an OWC 500GB connected by USB to the AEBS (n). It has never disconnected. I have also found that all 500GB drives are not equal. As an example, I purchased a MyBook500GB. It connected easily but I would receive an error when trying to transfer files over roughly 3.5GB. Some of my archived FCP files are much larger. I never received a response from Western Digital as what was happening, took the MyBook back to the Apple Retail store and purchased a OWC 500GB drive from OWC which was shipped that day. I have had no problems with this drive staying connected to the AEBS(n) or transfering very large GB files. I have noticed this drive does not spin down like my OWC250GB does.
The only problem I have is playing the ripped iTunes CD music. I have described this in another question on the board. Also talked with Apple's customer support which referred me to a person in the AEBS area. Looks like I am the only one experiencing this issue at present.
My suggestion is to try switching out your AirDisk connected to the AEBS(n) if you have another one of a different make/model at your location...or contact the Drive manufacturer and see if they have anyone else having issues with the drive and AEBS(n).

  • ITunes only play audio with videos. regular songs won't play

I have tried everything from updating, to uninstalling and downloading a new version. Music videos, movies, TV, etc. as long as there is video sound will play but plain audio won't play. I audio diamond won't move either. Everything transfers to my iPod fine. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Itunes won't update ipod with videos.

Everytime i go to upload videos, my Ipod itself won't have them on there, although they'll be on my computer/itunes. Also, my ipod will delete every single video on there within a few days. How can i solve this?

iPod touchs (and iPhones and iPads) do not have a disk mode and thus the article you cite does not apply.
