Computation Question

Is it possible to call a computation from a report query on the same page if the computation returns more than one row?
The computation is on an item within the same page.
I have been unsuccessful at returning any rows from the query. I've tried both
IN and the LIKE clauses.
Do computations only allow you to return one row?

Ron,
Do you really have tried to compute COLLECTION through Page Computation?
Please let me know, because I cannot see that there is a way of compute anthing but 3 kind of values declared in my first post. And collection cannot be declared in any of these items..
Am I missing something?

    Hi Dalegu219,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iTunes library is on an external hard drive, but iTunes is not recognizing the library, first make sure the right library is selected.
You can use these steps to make sure iTunes is opening the library on your external drive:
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you're using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu, choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
If you're using a Mac, open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option key.
You should see one of these screens:
Pick Choose Library and locate the library on your external hard drive.
    From:
iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one - Apple Support
If the right library is selected, but you do not see your songs, try re-creating the library using the instructions found here:
iTunes: How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists - Apple Support

  • Multiple iPods on one computer question

    Hello,
I know this question has been asked already and I've read all the help topics about multiple iPods.
I've tried twice to use two iPods on one computer and it was not as easy as described. I'm just wondering if I'm doing something wrong.
The first time I tried was on a PC running XP with two iPod minis. I had seperate user accounts and it kept erasing all the songs in one account.
The other situation was on a different PC running XP Pro with a shuffle and a 30gig photo.
I had my 30gig for about a year and as soon as I plugged in my shuffle it didn't recognize it and the next time I plugged in my 30 gig photo it froze and I had to end up doing the hard reset for it.
Tomorrow I am about to try a PC running XP with a shuffle, nano, and a video iPod.
I've read the two ways to do it and am going to try the specific playlist option.
I'm worried that as soon as I plug in the second iPod it will freeze and I won't be able to even get to the "iPod Option" Button in iTunes.
The computer is not mine nor are the music devices. I'm doing it for a friend who doesn't understand computers that well. All devices are new, never used.
Is it as easy as the process sounds?
Also the last time I tried multiple iPods was at least two iTunes updates ago.
    Thanks for any help,
    Chris

    Hello!
Let me explain this in detail for you:
    The Do Not Disconnect screen
It is normal for your iPod to say this message to you when you connect it to your computer.
When you need to disconnect it from your computer, you'll first need to eject it.
There are a few ways to eject your iPod; through iTunes, the Safely Remove Hardware program, and "My Computer".
    Through iTunes
Ejecting your iPod via iTunes depends on what setting your iPod is on for.
Connect your iPod. Go into Edit> preferences> iPod. See what setting your iPod is on; "automatic" or "manual".
    Automatic
If you aren't restoring, or updating your iPod, iTunes should automatically eject your iPod from iTunes. If it doesn't, then right-click the name of your iPod in iTunes, and make sure that the "enable for disk use" is un-checked.
    Manual
If you need to eject your iPod from iTunes if the setting is "manual", click the little arrow that's next to the name of your iPod in the left source list in iTunes.
Through the "Safely Remove Hardware" program
Look at the bottom-right corner of your screen, and there's the system tray icons there. If the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon is there, click on it, select your iPod, and click "stop".
    Through "My Computer"
    Go to "My Computer".
Find your iPod's listing there (it's typically "E:" or "F:").
    Right-click it, click on "eject".
For additional information about ejecting your iPod, check this Apple Support articles about it.
    Safely disconnecting your iPod
About the "Do Not Disconnect" and "OK to Disconnect" screens on iPod
Any more questions? I'll be glad to try to help you again.

  • Multiple iPods for 1 computer, questions???

Hi, I'm hoping I can explain myself in this....
Okay, a coworker brought in her iPod yesterday. It has a small amt of songs (100 maybe??) on it. She doesn't even have a computer, so the songs that were on it, were put on it by her ex-husband. She brought in some CD's and asked if I could download them onto her iPod for her. At first I was like, sure no problem. But now I am wondering what is going to happen when I try to do this??
I already have 4 iPods in my family using the iTunes account. So is it, correct to say that we are only allowed 5 iPods per iTunes account? I am personally hoping to get an upgrade for myself soon, but plan on keeping my old one too. So when I get my upgrade we will then be a 5 iPod family. If I add my friends, will she cancel my chance of being able to use another iPod? Also, when I hook her iPod up to my computer will it delete off the songs she has?
Sorry, can someone tell me if A) it is possible to help my coworker out and/or B) what will happen when I do hook it to my computer. thanks

I am not trying to share MY music. I don't want the CD's she wants me to add to her iPod, it is some Spiritual/Inspirational/Motivational CD's that I am not interested in.
I hate when I come in here and ask a question and people assume I am trying to screw the system. I am asking honest questions just trying to understand what I can do! Call me naive or whatever, I don't sit in here and study all the do's and don'ts of iTunes/iPods, but I thought that was what this forum was for...asking questions.
Please quit accusing me of illegal activity! That is why I am asking because I am trying to avoid that. So was it illegal for her ex-husband to buy her an iPod and load it with some songs for her???

  • A Varation on the How do I move my music to a new computer question.

I have a new (Win 7) computer with which I want to use my I-Tunes music library.  Currently the library itself resides on an extern (USB) hard drive connected to my old computer (Win XP).  However, the library files (itl and xml) reside on the internal hard drive of the old computer.
My problem is that part of the transfer is easy and obvious, but the rest of it seems unclear to me.
I'm pretty sure I could just plug the external drive into the new computer, and in ITunes on the new computer, set the folder location on the hard drive as the location of my library and then add the content to the library and have access to my full library.
Except, I would not have the play-lists.  They are sitting in the itl file on the old computer.
So, my question is:  How do I move that information as well?
I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
    John

  • Connecting Playbook to computer question

I know you can take your playbook and connect it to a screen and output what ever is on your playbook to the screen but is it possible to do the opposite like connect it to your computer and output your what ever is on your computer to your playbook. Is it possible to use your playbook as a touchscreen to control your computer? do i need an app or program if possible?
If this is not possible does anyone know if an adobe illustrator app is coming to the playbook any time soon?
    Any reply would be helpful.

No, on all questions... I have not seen any app that will allow you to control your PC from the Playbook.
As far as Illustrator... nothing that I have read would indicate it is being made made ready for the Playbook.

  • Basic TV/Computer question

I have a MacBook Pro. I am retiring and thinking of ways to save money. One of these is to eliminate cable TV.
Now, here is my question: Most of the TV programming I enjoy (PBS, Daily Show, etc.) are available over the Internet. Is there a way to connect my Mac to my TV, so I can watch those programs on a bigger screen than my computer monitor?
Sorry if this is a question a fourth grader could answer.

I have connected my old PowerBook G4 to my plasma HD TV and gotten good results using an S-video cable. Once connected, I make sure I'm not in mirror mode (showing the same thing on both laptop screen and TV). On my PowerBook, F7 toggled this mode. Next, to get best results for playing video full-screen, you need to go to System Preferences and choose Displays. A window should appear on the TV screen, and the third tab (I forget the name) gives you two check boxes. Turn both on. (The mysterious-sounding "Overscan" one makes the picture stretch to full-screen.)
Now, you have a MacBook Pro, and therein lies the problem. My new MacBook Pro does not have S-video, nor does the F7 key do the same thing it did on my PowerBook. I have not used my new MacBook Pro with a projector or TV, so I don't know what the equivalent steps are, but I'm sure they're there. As to connecting it without S-video, there are apparently adapters available that can plug into your MacBook's DVI jack (where you plug in an external monitor). You can easily find a DVI-to-HDMI converter at Radio Shack, I've seen them there. You can also get a DVI-to-component video adapter, but I was not able to find that at Radio Shack. (I looked just recently, but decided it was easier to stick with using my old machine and S-video cable than to buy a bunch of stuff and then have to figure out how to plug it in to the back of my TV, which is hanging on the wall...)

  • New Computer Questions

    Hi
I have two clients who are asking me to upgrade my computer. The type of work I do is slightly different from most people, in that I do content for video projection. Almost everything I do uses a non-standard resolution. For example the current project is 1920x3240. Currently the slowest part of the workflow is previewing and rendering. Typically the final rendering is a photo sequence of some type and encoding is done on the media server and is not part of my workflow. I used limited amounts of video footage, with most of the content created in Cinema 4D and After Effects. I use a fair amount of 3rd party effects like trapcode with high particle counts. Content is almost always broken down into small segments that are then played back through the media server, because of this, the amount of video used is pretty small.
One of my clients is willing to split the cost of a new system, so I'm willing to spend more than I normally would.
Based on reading this and other forums's here is what I'm looking at:
    Case
Fractal Design Define  ATX Full Tower Computer Case                                          $129.99
      CORSAIR AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31                                                  $329.99
      Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 140mm and 120mm SSO CPU Cooler                          $89.99
      Fractal Design Silent Series R2 FD-FAN-SSR2-140 140mm 140mm Fan          $17.99
    System
      ASUS P9X79-E  WS                                                                                                                                    $499.99
      Intel Core i7-3930K Sandy Bridge-E 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 2011 130W Six-Core                 $560.99
      G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 64GB (8 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000)     $679.99
      EVGA GeForce GTX 680 FTW+ w/Backplate 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16               $539.00
    Drives
      areca ARC-1882I-MS PCI-Express 2.0 x8 Low Profile SATA / SAS RAID Controller Card                  $640.00
      Western Digital WD WD5003AZEX 500GB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" (Qnty 4)   $299.99
      Corsair Force Series GT CSSD-F240GBGT-BK 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC - (Qnty 2)                         $479.00
areca CB-R87SA-75M Right Angle SFF-8087 MiniSAS to 4 SATA Breakout                                        $39.98
From a drive setup I would do the following:
    SSD - Boot
    SSD - Cache
    HD Raid - Content
    HD Raid - Content
I have an external raid that has backup data.
I have a number of questions regarding the system.
Does the GTX 680 make sense or should I consider a Titan?
Will the Areca Controller make a big difference in the system for the type of work that I'm doing?
I looked at the WD VelociRaptor10K drives, would that get much of a peformance gain?
    Thanks
    Martin

    The Areca ARC-1882i-8 has 8 internal ports, so you could go for two 4-disk raid3 or raid5 or even easier for one 8-disk raid3 or raid5, possibly with a hot-spare. Roughly, a n-disk raid3 or raid5 will give a sustained transfer rate of around 0.85 x (n - 1) x T. So a 4-disk raid3 or raid5 will give around 380 - 400 MB/s. A 8-disk raid3 or raid5 will have a transfer rate of around 900 MB/s. This shows the advantage of more disks in an array.
Software raids, whether in BIOS or in Windows are limited to striped or mirrored arrays, parity raids are way too slow. Striping is too risky and mirroring does not help speed.
Rendering for previews are helped by hardware acceleration for accelerated effects only. But the effectiveness of the video card depends to a large degree on the speed of the CPU, memory and disks. Unless the CPU is significantly overclocked to 4.5+ GHz, memory runs @ 2133 and the disk setup is very fast (400+ MB/s) a GTX 660 TI will not noticeably be slower than a GTX 680.
Rendering for export is only helped by a CUDA card when scaling, blending or blurring are applied. If you start with HD source material and export to HD resolution, there is no scaling and thus no acceleration by a CUDA card. It is all done by the CPU, memory and the disks.
If you are talking about Velociraptors 10K, no they are not faster than the HGST Ultrastars.
If you are talking about 15K SCSI disks, yes they are faster but require a SCSI controller, both of which make them much more expensive.
Despite having made the feature request for a render farm numerous times, I think since CS3, this has not yet been effected for PR. A render farm like you have in Vue would be a nice addition, but alas...
If you want to have more room for future growth, I would have a look at the 12+4 or 16+4 port ARC 1882iX controller cards. Not only do they expand on the number of ports to 12 or 16 internally, they also add 4 external ports and most importantly, they can accept up to 4 GB cache on the card, where the 8 port versions are limited to 1 GB fixed cache. Do not forget to add a BBM battery backup module to the Areca controller.
If you were to take this step and have all those ports available for future expansion, then it could be wise to have a look at the GTX 780, provided overclocking is applied. The GTX Titan is just too costly to justify.

  • Computer question please help

Hello I am in the market for a computer I want it be able to run Adobe Suite effortlessly I will be doing alot of video editing so I need either a laptop or a desktop as soon as possible and I hope the people in this forum can help me
I pefer to buy a laptop becuase it is easier to travel with but I am thinking a desktop is easier to upgrade with over time.
I am not tech savvy so I am assuming a laptop is more difficult to upgrade parts on
    my questions are as follows
    1. Would you pefer a desktop or a laptop and why one over the other?
    2. If you have a desktop how do you travel with it?
    3. I am looking at at the newest Macbook Pro
the specs are what I copied from the site
Would this be enough or I need something more powerful?
2.9GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.6Hz
    8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2X4GB
    512GB Solid State Drive
    SuperDrive 8X (DVD/CD-RW)
I have read the other threads on here of people asking for reccomendations on what computers to buy and the replies would be what Adobe's minimunm specs are
Knowing what the minimum specs are is foriegn language to me as I said I am not tech savvy
Budget is not an issue as I want to buy something that will last me many years so I ask you to please reccomend me specific laptop models and computer models that will work very good for all of Adobe's products
    Thank You for your time

    1. Desktop always. At least 3 times faster than a laptop, more expansion capabilities and a laptop still needs a wall outlet to operate.
    2. I don't.
    3. Better have a look at the new Dell Precision M6700 with up to 4 drives, 32 GB memory and i7 Ivy Bridge CPU, combined with the new Kepler K4000 or K5000 cards and Gorilla glass screen. Prices have not yet been announced, but it looks like a great laptop if luggability is something you like.
Before deciding which way to go, can you tell us what kind of material you will be using? It has a huge impact on what is feasible. Look here: Adobe Forums: System requirements for CS5
Also have a look at the FAQ section and the Featured discussion at the top of the page. There might be some interesting articles there.

  • Multiple iPods, One Computer - Question

I currently have a Classic 160GB and I'm looking into getting a Nano or iTouch soon. I have the ability to use more than one computer or more than one account to sync them both that way, but I was wondering about a different method not mentioned in this [article|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300432].
If my Classic 160GB is set to sync automatically when it is hooked up, syncing all checked items, as it does now; And then I set a new iTouch to let me manage it manually, can't I use the same library file and not worry about iTunes making multiple copies of things when it 'manages my music folders'?
It seems to me this would be an ideal solution if possible, because managing 8-32GB of space which will most likely be mostly videos, is not a hard thing. If I can have one iPod "manually managed" and one "automatically managed" by the same iTunes on the same computer, please let me know!
And if so, Apple should add that as a fourth method in that article.

iTunes will recognize each iPod as unique. You can manage each one differently, as you wish.
I would suggest you consider "Sync selected playlists" for your Touch. I find that you get all the benefits of syncing (playcounts, ratings and last played get synced) with most of the control for manually managing your music. It can be as simple as setting up a smart playlist that limits the amount of music to a size the Touch can handle to more complex, multiple playlists set ups. I have a playlist that selects 1000 songs, a few special playlists and then playlists of recently purchased albums (no, Chris, I don't make a playlist for every album). I also have a playlist for video. I find this is much less work than manually managing. But, to each their own.
Best of luck and enjoy your Touch.

  • Sync Ipad to a different computer question.

I will try to explain this the best I can.
My wife had a Dell laptop that she had her iTunes account on. She has an iPad 2 and a iPhone 3S that were synced with this account. She got a new Mac Book Pro about six months ago. I decommisioned the Itunes account off of that laptop, and we set up her Mac Book's iTunes account with here same iTunes account information she used before. She no longer has the Dell laptop.
She hasn't synced up her iPad or iPhone since she got the Mac Book, but now she really does need to get that iPad plugged in. She has taken a lot of pictures and videos with the iPad.
I am afraid to plug it into the Mac Book's iTunes due to thinking it will erase and reset everything.
I fear the same on her phone.
I would appreciate any advice on how to proceed so she doesn't lose anything. We plan on upgrading her phone when the new ones come out, so her phone will be an issue soon as well.
    Thanks for any advice!

    Syncing with a "new" computer
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11527071#11527071
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
    That should do it.

  • Transferring Premiere Elements 11 from Windows 7 to Windows 8 computer question

Do i have to use my backups to reinstall Premiere Elements correctly, or can i simply add the internal drive i used in Windows 7 strictly for Premiere, move it to the new Windows 8 computer, reinstall the Elements program, and direct it to the proper hard drive?  I have current incremental backups on a NAS drive, but it seems like i should just be able to use the internal drive that already has everything on it.
    Thanks,

    awgriffey2013
What do you have -  purchased installation files/serial number from an online purchase from Adobe direct or installation disc with serial number purchased in boxed packaging from an authorized reseller.
If you do not plan on using 11 on Windows 7 thereafter,
Deactivate 11 on 7, Help Menu/Deactivate - close out of there
    Uninstall Control Panel Route
Deactivate and uninstall are not the same thing. Depending on your plans, you may not want to uninstall, just deactivate.
You are simply going to install Premiere Elements 11 to Windows 8 computer, using installation files or installation disc.
Do you have Premiere Elements 11 Windows 7 projects that you want to salvage? If so, how many? I would archive them
File Menu/Project Archiver/Copy Project and transfer the Copied Folder via USB to the Windows 8 computer.
For Elements Organizer considerations, please review the following
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/backup-restore-move-catalog-photoshop.html
At this time I have no comments on your backups on NAS and how it might relate to your end goal.
Please review the above and then let us know if any of the above works for you.
    Thanks.
    ATR
Add On...Just in case note, Adobe allows you to install/activate the purchase serial number for a given product on no more than
2 of your computers.  Then use these same products with the same activated serial number one at a time.

  • General Computer Question

Hello,  I am about to buy a "bare-bones" new computer, and would like recommendations on what hardware to fit it with.  I will be using it 90% of the time to burn DVDs from Prem. Pro.CS 3 and Encore CS 3.  What I would like to know is 1.) Processor, type and model,  2,) memory, type and amount, HD drive/s, type and capacity, 3.) Video card, make and model, and 4.)  DVD burner, make and model.. in or exturnal, and any other information you may wish to share.  I read the the Intel I7 processor is best, but am not sure.  Don't know the best burner to get, and wodering iif memory and processor speed have a large effect on rendering and transcoding time.  DVDs will run about 1.5 hours..   Lastly, I am not an idiot!  I just want good advice before I jump and make costly mistakes.  Thank you for your time and any advice,,

My old+new computers are discussed in my notes http://www.pacifier.com/~jtsmith/ADOBE.HTM
Old computer with CS3 worked... but was very slow... 4-6 hours to have Encore create an ISO to burn to DVD
New computer is not only MUCH faster, I can edit HD and not just SD
As the line went in Smokey and the Bandit... "speed costs... how fast do you want to go?"
Look at what I built... price out the components (ATI graphics card instead of the nVidia GTX 285) and decide how much you want to spend
Since you will be using CS3 you will want WinXP and the max (I think) of 4 Meg of ram it will use

  • HT5868 Update software for the Mac and now my phone keeps asking the Trust Computer question.  I tap trust and nothing.  It asks me repeatedly

My phone will not allow me to connect to my computer.  It asks me repeatedly if I "trust" the computer and I tap trust each time; and nothing.  I did upgrade the computer to Snow Leopard yesterday and was able to connect the Ipad mini, but not the phone.

I finally was able to solve my problem. I'm not sure why it happened but after updating my iPad to the most recent iOS, it works just fine. I had iOS 8 before, but it was the first release, not the update. I have the latest iTunes on my computer so maybe they weren't compatible. Anyway, if anyone else is having this problem, make sure everything is up to date.
