Hi friends,
I have some doubts regarding the CATT mode in Processing BDC(SHDB transaction).
1) What's the use of this CATT mode in BDC Processing?
2) What is use of"NO CATT, CATT WITHOUT INDIVIDUAL SCREEN CONTROL, CATT WITH INDIVIDUAL SCREEN CONTROL" these three modes in Processing BDC?
3) What is the difference between the three modes?

PMU reset does not get rid of it sorry to say and logic board replacement does nothing to cure it. They all have this problem I believe, and it could very well be the battery that is the culprit, and a recall might be on the way for the batteries or a firmware update. Who knows at this point, this is an inherent reality of first gen Apple portables (products also), they are never bug free, if you buy a MBP now, you should know what you are getting into and try to deal with it as best as you can, if you don't have the "stugots" to deal with these issues and document them, wait for the 3rd and 4th gen, those are usually bug free, but end of life also.
Take it easy and don't worry, they will fix it soon, they just need documentation of the problem, half the battle has been won.

I have no experience with Java 3D and am wondering whether it can be of benefit to me.
I need to develop a system where users can visually assemble a product to be made to order.
I will have to have features such as rotating 360 around the product be able to apply different colours materials and accessories etc.
Could someone tell me what tools, api's or other software I would need to develop such a system or give me any links to other tutorials etc.

BW Quality Testing
We have not used any tool like Mercury Quality center for testing. In our case we created some test scripts and based on that we proceeded further.
All the testing is done in quality before moving into Prod.
Testing like Integration and unit testing are done in quality.
You need to test if the extractions are working fine, data is getting loaded into targets, post load activities like activation, rollup, compression etc are successful etc.
We test the PC chains also in Quality.
We schedule / trigger the chains and monitor them. We ensure that all the process types are happening successfully.
One major area we concentrate on is to identify decencies in the chain. This will ensure less errors and also reduce chain timings by a great extend. Dependencies should be kept to a minimum wherever possible.
Also in cases where we use events/third party scheduling tools to trigger BW chains we check that out.
Executing reports to check the definitions are correct.
The volume of data will be lesser in Quality compared to prod.
Also activities like Change runs, Deletion, Selective deletion etc are done.
Almost all the activates in Prod are done in Quality.

WE19 - Test tool for IDOC processing

Hi:
As we know WE19 is the test tool, and it has downside that it translates everything into upper case.
Even SAP has a note for it, stating that it is not going to change. but it gets changed everything in upper case .
In Our requirement; some fields` value in lower case (or partially lower case) are required by using this tool, it converts these into upper case and hence our process does get failed.
Let me know if any exit or bapi or some other solution for it.

Hi,
Do I understand that correct that SAP says in a note that the data will not be converted to upper case in WE19, but it is getting converted anyway?
In this case I would definitely raise an OSS message because according to SAP WE19 is not supposed to change the entries into upper case.
If I misunderstood your comment then the only possibility would be to hook into one of the user exits. Every IDOC that is created uses a function module that processes the IDOC and passes the data to the application. The user exit you can use depends on which IDOC type you are using. The import function modules start with IDOC_INPUT_*. Once you find out which function is used just look into the coding to identify the user exits. Use an exit at the beginning to convert the data before it is passed to the application.

Is it possible to use external testing tools in SAP XI

I have been working on file to file transfer of large size more than 1 GB. I have many doubts like:
1.Can I use Data compression techniques so that my files can be processsed(my scenario involves a lot of mapping)
2.Can any of the engines be stopped so that processing speed increases.
3.Can any of the third party testing tools like Load runner be used in to monitor the process.
Please help me with sloutions.

One GB is a very huge file. First of all check ur XI hardware configuration.
1. U may write ur adapter module to zip the message.
2. It wont affect the performance much if the file size is 1 GB. Also u cant stop adapter engine (File Adapter) and the Integration Engine in ur scenario
3. U can do the load testing on XI using load runner

Free load test tool

Hello all,
are there any free load testing tool for sql queryl ?? We have this sql that i want to change and use a parallel hint....so i wanted to load test...maybe 50 concurrent user executing that at the same time....and see how the performance is on the server ...are there any freeware tool for that or anything that i can do ?? i am on 10.2.0.3 (AIX)....

I'm a bit confused.
Parallel query improves performance by allowing one session to use more of the database's resources than a single session could normally utilize. That makes it ideal for data warehouse environments where there are few concurrent users each running very resource intensive SQL statements. Parallel query is poorly suited, in general, for OLTP workloads because letting one session spawn multiple slave processes takes resources away from other sessions. If you really have 50 users simultaneously running a query, it should almost certainly not be parallelized. Even if each session creates only 2 slave processes, that's 100 simultaneous slave processes which probably overloads anything below, say, a 64-core box. Hopefully, your database is configured, in that case, to disable parallelism to avoid overloading the server. But if the database is configured to disable parallelism in that case, adding the PARALLEL hint will have no effect at high load.

AII Test Tool

Hello,
PML messages sent from AutoID test tool do not reach AII. I am trying to send the PACK command. The logs slg1 and all the Queues donot show anything. I am not getting any error messages in the test tool. I have configured the RFC for AII (AIN) which is used in sending the messages. Also the rules, commands and devices are added too. In the ICF recordings I can see some of the messages. I think the messages are not being processed at all or maybe not reaching AII.
The document search screen doesnot show anything against the document for which the messages were sent.
Have i missed any step in configuration? I have followed the Config guides available.
Any suggestions would be of great help!

Hi All,
I have read various blogs/threads regarding eCATT Testing tool. I can see how to create eCATT scripts but my questions is how do we open eCATT tool.
I ve read that we have to enter "SECATT" as tcode, but where?
I ve SAP Netweaver Application Server 7x and Developer Studio installed on my M/C, please let me know if there is anything else to be installed to get started with eCATT, if yes then it would be great if you could provide me with relevant URLs as well.

SAP users use CATT frequently to upload master data or to make changes to master data records. SAP Consultants and Abapers tend to use it for creating test data. The transactions run without user interaction. You can check system messages and test database changes. All tests are logged. The CATT records your keystrokes while performing the actual transaction. You then identify the fields that you wish to change in that view. Then export this data to a spreadsheet to populate with the data required. This is uploaded and executed saving you keying in the data manually.
To perform CATT, it has to be enabled in your production environment (your systems administrator should be able to do this - SCC4). You will also need access to your development system to create the CATT script.
The process of uploading data with a CATT:
Activate CATT in your client
In transaction code SCC4 - click the change button
Double click on the client number
In the Restriction section, tick Allows CATT processes to be started.
Upload data using CATT
1. Create Import variant for the fields you need
Transaction SCAT
Goto Parameters
Create Import Variant
Goto Variant -> Edit
Goto Variant -> Fast entry or F9

2. To change the MRP Group for a list of Material
Assuming that I want to change the MRP Group for a list of Material.
My text files should look something like this:
[Variant ID] [Variant Text] &ZDISGR &ZMATNR
--> Parameter texts MRP group Material
--> Default Values M1 A001
Changes to the default values displayed above not effective
#01 M1 A001
#02 '' A002
#03 M1 A003
Note : '' denotes a blank in the field. e.g. Material A002 MRP group will be replaced by a blank.
3. Configure the recorded entry fields to read from the imported text file data
In the CATT : Maintain functions test case Screen
Double click on the Object Name
Double click on the screen number with your desired fields
Park the cursor on the fields
Click Edit -> Details
Fill in the Parameters Name and Field Contents
Finish Save it.
Assign your text file data.
In the CATT : Execute test case Screen
Click External from file and choose your text file
CATT will now read from your text file and update whatever data you have specified.

Error while using Test tool -WE19

Hi All,
When I am trying to use Test tool for IDOC processing ( WE19) in R/3 System for any Basic Type ,for example: PEXR2002 and select the Standard Outbound Processing, I am getting the message as Port does not exist in the table of port descriptions.
Is this error something where port configuration is missing or some standard error.
Please provide your inputs.

Step by Step Procedure..
Create the tRFC port definition
Refer to the following steps to create the tRFC port definition.
1. SAP transaction code: WE21 Type /nwe21 on the SAP input window and press the
Enter key.
2. Highlight Transactional RFC.
3. Click the Port pull-down menu, which is located in the upper left corner of the SAP
screen. Click Create (or press F7).
4. Select the own port name radio button.
5. Type a port name such as ALEport. If you use a port name different from this, update
Table 2 at the beginning of this chapter for future reference.
6. Click the green check icon to continue.
7. Fill in the description field with tRFC port (You are free to write anything you want here).
8. Fill in the RFC destination field with ALESERVER. This must match the name you used on the previous RFC Destination step. If the name you enter here does not exist, the
system will flag an error and you will need to provide an existing RFC destination.
9. Make sure that IDoc record types SAP Release 4.x is selected.
10. Click on save.

Conext Sensitive Help Test Tool Not Working

I have been trying to test my map files with the context-sensitive test tool, but am unable to get it working. I am running TCS 3.5 on Windows XP Pro.
I created a map files for Java in the project file and then created several test links with Map IDs. I am working with an offline WebHelp system on my C drive. I open the CSH Test Tool and located the index_csh.htm file for the WebHelp help system and then choose the Map Number. But when I click "Show Help," nothing appears. The hourglass comes up for a brief instant, as if it's going to load the page, but then nothing happens.
Can anyone help?

However, I was reading a bit more of the information on your site, and am still unclear why the deafult RH CSH Tester would not work. I was only using map numbers. Very frustrating.
I also had a few other questions, since this is the first time I'm creating a mapping file in RH:
- Is there any way to batch test? Or, if the icons appear blue (indicating they are correctly linked) in the Edit Map IDs dialogue box, can I just use your C# API to test a few and assume that they others are also working?
- Is this API set to open up the pages in IE by default? Mine is doing that, but I wasn't sure if it was your app or my computer settings. I'm in an corporate environment where we are supposed to use IE as the default browser, although I have FF installed, too. It keeps opening an IE window with a security message that says JavaScript is not supported and I have to click the bar at the top to allow ActiveX controls to work. I'm pretty sure that last part is a security setting I can't change here, but not so sure about the default browser choice.
-I haven't downloaded your API testers in other languages. Are they all the same with the difference just being language preference for the person testing it, or do some of them offer more functionality?

sure there is
any tool that allows you to test message flow in XI as
BPEL definitions describe integration process
so by testing the process in XI you test it
unless you want to validate BPEL definition - you can do it from
any tool that allows to import BPEL - ARIS etc.
