Computer authorization / deauthorization

I've just installed Mountain Lion on my iMac - previously i've been using home sharing, but after the upgrade iTunes ask for computer authorization. When I'm trying to authorize - i get the message that "either my credentials are wrong or I do not have the correct permissions on the shared folded" this is a translation from Danish - but You'll probably get the messages.....
I get the same message no matter if I try to authorize or deauthorize....

Okay. On some rarer occasions, the message might also be caused by damage to the SC Info folder. If you remove your SC Info folder, does that allow you to authorise? For instructions see the following document:

I just purchased a new Win 8.1 laptop and want to authorize it for my iTunes library. I operate this library on a Win 7 desktop. I have three other Windows computers that I no longer own which were authorized under my iTunes account, but I can't unauthorized them because they are broken or sold. I want to have Computer Authorization for just my current desktop running Win 7 and my new laptop operating Win 8.1. How can I selectively unauthorize a computer if I no longer have it in my possession, and if I have to unauthorize all of my computers, how do I get my iTunes library of music back onto my current desktop system?

Deauthorizing the computer will not remove the content from your library. You deauthorize all, then authorize the ones you want. See this support document. Deauthorize your computer using iTunes - Apple Support

So, I bought a new Macbook Pro which i cannot authorize my itunes for. I don't even have the button indicated in the support section to authorize or deauthorize. I only have one device authorized to my account. I cant remember my security questions and cannot figure out how to change them; I think this might be the reason why i can't authorize my new device. The only way to access my itunes from my Mac is to have my iphone plugged in. Someone please help! I am a complete tard and would like to avoid a trip to the actual Apple store.

Call Apple Care for your country and request that they assist you in resetting the security questions.
To authorize/deauthorize a computer, go to the Store dropdown menu in the iTunes app.

  • HT204074 Is "Deauthorize All" my only option for Computer Authorizations?

According to the support pages I have read, I should be able to "Manage Devices" on the Account Information page. But I only have "Deauthorize All" as an option. I'm I missing something? I'm I not looking in the right place? Is "Deauthorize All" my only option for Computer Authorizations?

I have two lines, one on AT&T and one on Verizon.
On AT&T, 450 minutes, 200SMS (200SMS is no longer offered) and unlimited data for $80.40 after taxes.
    On Verizon, I have 450 minutes, 1000SMS and 2GB Data for $86.
There are pay as you go retailers out there such as Cricket but you will pay full price for the phone but less per month to use it.

  • HT1420 i need to authorize my current computer and deauthorize one of the other five.  I cant get to the point of just doing one it says deauthorize all

I need to deauthorize one of mu five computers but it does not allow me to select  only option is to deauthorize all

You may only de-authorize a single computer from that computer. If you don't have access to the other authorized computers then you must deauthorize all of them.

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • ITunes computer authorization failure ( tried all fixes )

    Computer authrization problem in iTunes
Hi to all. I am having the common problem of computer authorization in iTunes, so i can't sync my iPad and transfer my purchases. I have read about all the "popular" fixes and none of them worked. I am listing them here for others to try ( google them for more info as i will not describe in detail ) :
    1. Delete the SC info folder ( Users/Shared)
Comments from my problem : I do NOT have an SC info file!
    2. Deauthorize/Reauthorize this or all computers and sign in again..
Comments from my problem : Did that, did not work.
    3. Uninstall and reinstall itunes
Comments from my problem : Did not try that. Any comments on that?
This is a real problem of the apple community and apple should do something about that, as we are paying gold to buy their products. The support should be faster. This has been going on for a while now.
    Thank you in advance,
    George

I now have 2 computers that have crashed and no longer useful. How do I deauthorize these computers?
I can find no help in this area.
    Thans

You need to be on the computer to deauthorize it.
However, once you have reached 5 authorizations, you have an option to deauthorize all 5 at once. This can only be done one time per year.

  • I want to remove 1 of 5 Computer Authorizations?

I want to remove 1 of 5 Computer Authorizations? All I see is to remove all 5 I have.

If you have physical or network access to that computer, go to it, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If not, you need to use the Deauthorize All function and reauthorize computers as needed.

  • I backed up my movies and rebuild my computer, and after making sure i'm using the latest version of itunes and quicktime and and making sure i still had spare computer authorizations, i still get error 23132.  Please help.

I backed up my movies and rebuild my computer, and after making sure i'm using the latest version of itunes and quicktime and and making sure i still had spare computer authorizations, i still get error 23132.  Please help.

I had this exact issue.  Spent over an hour on the phone with apple support, they couldn't resolve.  Here is what I ended up doing, that worked.
    1.  Turned iTunes match off on all my iOS devices
    2.  Deleted the offending playlists from the iOS device they originated on
    3.  Started iTunes, let it run (literally) for an hour before it became responsive.  First thing I did, before clicking anywere else was disable iTunes match.  If I clicked anywhere, it would clock for another hour.
    4.  Let iTunes run overnight, by morning it had cleaned out the repeating play lists.  This got my Mac/iTunes back to an operable state.
    5.  Restore iPhones from backup in iTunes.
What was causing my issue was a single playlist that was created on an iPhone, then suddenly showed up with several thousand duplicates on my other iPhone.  The culprit playlist did not, for some reason, duplicate itself on my two iPads.  Apple support seemed to think it was because the problem iPhone tried to sync the playlist to iCloud over and over again unsuccessfully, then it finally went through and populated the thousands of blank/failed playlists which then tried to propigate to iTunes and my other iOS devices.  Seems like a reasonable theory.
I have not yet re-enabled iTunes match.  So, no idea what will happen if I decide to go back down that rabbit hole.

  • Delete computer authorization of a stolen computer from an other computer.

My wifes computer got stolen a few days ago. Can I delete the ITunes computer authorization of that computer from an other computer?

The only way to delete a computer you haven't got is if you have reached the limit of 5 authorisations, you can de-authorise all computers once a year from a single one: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and possibly there is something that can be done from their end. You can email them from any of the links on this page: iTMS Customer Service

  • Confusion on iTunes Plus Files and Computer Authorization

I wonder if someone could help me alleviate some confusion surrounding iTunes plus files and computer authorizations.  I personally also have iTunes match on my account.
Reading online it appears that all iTunes Plus files do not not have DRM. I have this setup on my main iMac in my house. Now, I am copying music to my wife's laptop via home sharing. She is not using iTunes match because she has her own iTunes account. The home sharing is using her iTunes account. What is confusing me is that her laptop asking me to authorize the computer for playback of the audio files under my iTunes account. Why is this occuring if there is no DRM on the files?
I understand that I need to authorize machines for my iTunes match account, but these all should theoretically be DRM files that I am dragging and dropping via home sharing to her machine. Can anyone clarify what is going on in this situation?

Go to Store -> View Account. Log in to your account and click Purchase History. Then click Report a Problem. Then choose your upgrade purchase and explain your situation.
