Computer Authorization Maximum

I have reached my five computer maximum for itunes. I just bought a new laptop and moved to switzerland but my last two computers (which broke) are in the US and I am not sure what other three devices have been authorized. I read that i can deauthorize all once per year but my question is will i lose all of the music i have purchased or is there a way to recieve it back on this device once i have re-authorized?
thanks

not because you deauthorize a computer, no.
deauthorize all, then reauthorize those you are using. your purchases will play/can be used just fine.

  • I need to deauthorize three computers I no longer own, but keep my computer authorization for my current computer and add a new laptop. Is there a way of doing this without having to unauthorize my current desktop which is my main music storage devic

I just purchased a new Win 8.1 laptop and want to authorize it for my iTunes library. I operate this library on a Win 7 desktop. I have three other Windows computers that I no longer own which were authorized under my iTunes account, but I can't unauthorized them because they are broken or sold. I want to have Computer Authorization for just my current desktop running Win 7 and my new laptop operating Win 8.1. How can I selectively unauthorize a computer if I no longer have it in my possession, and if I have to unauthorize all of my computers, how do I get my iTunes library of music back onto my current desktop system?

Deauthorizing the computer will not remove the content from your library. You deauthorize all, then authorize the ones you want. See this support document. Deauthorize your computer using iTunes - Apple Support

I had this exact issue.  Spent over an hour on the phone with apple support, they couldn't resolve.  Here is what I ended up doing, that worked.
    1.  Turned iTunes match off on all my iOS devices
    2.  Deleted the offending playlists from the iOS device they originated on
    3.  Started iTunes, let it run (literally) for an hour before it became responsive.  First thing I did, before clicking anywere else was disable iTunes match.  If I clicked anywhere, it would clock for another hour.
    4.  Let iTunes run overnight, by morning it had cleaned out the repeating play lists.  This got my Mac/iTunes back to an operable state.
    5.  Restore iPhones from backup in iTunes.
What was causing my issue was a single playlist that was created on an iPhone, then suddenly showed up with several thousand duplicates on my other iPhone.  The culprit playlist did not, for some reason, duplicate itself on my two iPads.  Apple support seemed to think it was because the problem iPhone tried to sync the playlist to iCloud over and over again unsuccessfully, then it finally went through and populated the thousands of blank/failed playlists which then tried to propigate to iTunes and my other iOS devices.  Seems like a reasonable theory.
I have not yet re-enabled iTunes match.  So, no idea what will happen if I decide to go back down that rabbit hole.

  • HT204074 Is "Deauthorize All" my only option for Computer Authorizations?

According to the support pages I have read, I should be able to "Manage Devices" on the Account Information page. But I only have "Deauthorize All" as an option. I'm I missing something? I'm I not looking in the right place? Is "Deauthorize All" my only option for Computer Authorizations?

I have two lines, one on AT&T and one on Verizon.
On AT&T, 450 minutes, 200SMS (200SMS is no longer offered) and unlimited data for $80.40 after taxes.
    On Verizon, I have 450 minutes, 1000SMS and 2GB Data for $86.
There are pay as you go retailers out there such as Cricket but you will pay full price for the phone but less per month to use it.

  • Delete computer authorization of a stolen computer from an other computer.

My wifes computer got stolen a few days ago. Can I delete the ITunes computer authorization of that computer from an other computer?

The only way to delete a computer you haven't got is if you have reached the limit of 5 authorisations, you can de-authorise all computers once a year from a single one: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and possibly there is something that can be done from their end. You can email them from any of the links on this page: iTMS Customer Service

  • Confusion on iTunes Plus Files and Computer Authorization

I wonder if someone could help me alleviate some confusion surrounding iTunes plus files and computer authorizations.  I personally also have iTunes match on my account.
Reading online it appears that all iTunes Plus files do not not have DRM. I have this setup on my main iMac in my house. Now, I am copying music to my wife's laptop via home sharing. She is not using iTunes match because she has her own iTunes account. The home sharing is using her iTunes account. What is confusing me is that her laptop asking me to authorize the computer for playback of the audio files under my iTunes account. Why is this occuring if there is no DRM on the files?
I understand that I need to authorize machines for my iTunes match account, but these all should theoretically be DRM files that I am dragging and dropping via home sharing to her machine. Can anyone clarify what is going on in this situation?

Go to Store -> View Account. Log in to your account and click Purchase History. Then click Report a Problem. Then choose your upgrade purchase and explain your situation.

  • ITunes computer authorization failure ( tried all fixes )

    Computer authrization problem in iTunes
Hi to all. I am having the common problem of computer authorization in iTunes, so i can't sync my iPad and transfer my purchases. I have read about all the "popular" fixes and none of them worked. I am listing them here for others to try ( google them for more info as i will not describe in detail ) :
    1. Delete the SC info folder ( Users/Shared)
Comments from my problem : I do NOT have an SC info file!
    2. Deauthorize/Reauthorize this or all computers and sign in again..
Comments from my problem : Did that, did not work.
    3. Uninstall and reinstall itunes
Comments from my problem : Did not try that. Any comments on that?
This is a real problem of the apple community and apple should do something about that, as we are paying gold to buy their products. The support should be faster. This has been going on for a while now.
    Thank you in advance,
    George

  • Computer authorization / deauthorization

I've just installed Mountain Lion on my iMac - previously i've been using home sharing, but after the upgrade iTunes ask for computer authorization. When I'm trying to authorize - i get the message that "either my credentials are wrong or I do not have the correct permissions on the shared folded" this is a translation from Danish - but You'll probably get the messages.....
I get the same message no matter if I try to authorize or deauthorize....

Okay. On some rarer occasions, the message might also be caused by damage to the SC Info folder. If you remove your SC Info folder, does that allow you to authorise? For instructions see the following document:

  • Computer authorization help

I cannot authorize my computer. Adobe Reader says there is an Activstion Service Error. Please help.

De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • ARGH!! Computer authorizations

How do you get music purchased on itunes onto more than one computer???
I have a PC and a laptop. (PC has all the music, laptop is new & without music). I have purchased many songs from my PC and can NOT access them from my laptop :((. My PC was down, so I used my laptop to purchase an album on itunes. My PC is back up and of course, I can NOT access the album on my PC...ARGH!!! I'm so irritated.

haha, yes it's so confusing this things of computer authorizations, but don't worry, i can tell you how you can have your music in your new laptop:
1.- search for the folder where all your music purchased is located
2.- if you have an ipod do this:
    - open iTunes
    - open iTunes Preferences - this blocks iTunes from seeing an iPod connection; leave the preferences window up and running
    - connect the iPod to the computer, wait about 15 seconds before continuing
    - open 'My Computer'
    - open iPod icon in My Computer
    - copy-paste the folder of "my music" to the ipod, and wait to be ready
    - Close that explorer window
    - eject iPod from System tray "Safely Remove Hardware" icon. This icon looks like a small gray rectangle with a green arrow floating above it. It's only there when a removable device (like the iPod in this case) is attached to the computer. Right-click & select 'Safely remove..', then click 'Stop' in the next window, OK in the next window, and then Close to complete the ejection.
    - disconnect the iPod from the computer
now almost the same process but now like this:
    - open iTunes
    - open iTunes Preferences - this blocks iTunes from seeing an iPod connection; leave the preferences window up and running
    - connect the iPod to the computer, wait about 15 seconds before continuing
    - open 'My Computer'
    - open iPod icon in My Computer
    - copy-paste the folder that is in the ipod, and put it on "my documents" and wait to be ready
    - disconnect the iPod from the computer
then, open itunes and click on:
file - open folder to library, search for the folder and click once and click ok
then wait for itunes to finish
then you have all your music on itunes, but you need to authorize the laptop, so play whatever song, and a pop-up is going to appear.. with your username and they ask for you password, to authorize the computer, then you write down the song must play, and now every song that you purchased can play on the laptop!!!
easy?? well not that easy but really cool and works.. try it and for sure will work.. i made it like 3 times.. work very good, if work, made my reply the best answer
    thanx!

  • Computer authorization dialogue box frozen

I am trying to transfer books between old and new laptops.  Having copied them to a pen drive I get a computer authorization dialogue box asking for my id and password.  However it won't let me enter anything into the boxes. What am I doing wrong?

Is the ADE on the new machine authorized with the same AdobeID as the ADE on the old machine? If so, you should not need to reenter your id and password on the new machine.

  • ITunes repeatedly prompts for computer authorization for only one song

I already tried apple recommended resolutions but unfortunately they were not my resolution. Only one song after purchasing lots of others cannot be played because it asks computer authorization. I'm using windows 7 and itunes is the most recent. Now no one in apple is replying to my email. Did anyone have the similar case like this and solved,, please suggest the solution!

I just solved by myself. I signed on to another computer's itunes and downloaded the song. It looks like no better solution out there. I hope anyone else who encountered the same problem - for the first time and frustrated badly like me - get help from this.

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
