I am new at the Flash thing. I am currently trying to develop
CBT and was wondering if there are any Free template available. I
know nothing about Action Scripting, so I guess I am looking for
the easy way out.

Computer based training (CBT) for Hyperion Planning

We would like to know is there any computer based training (CBT) for Hyperion Planning that can be delivered to end users either in DVD video format or CDROM interactive format? We have checked with Oracle and they do not provide such training material except for formal classroom training offered by Oracle University.

General framework for computer based training using Labview

Hi, I work as an instructor and I am a beginner in Labview-programming.
I want to use Labview vi's that I've found here and there, in a tutorial framework, so that the student can get access to vi's in a consecutive mannner.
I believe that by adding text to simulations found here, I can make a solid tutorial in let's say signal processing for my students (military).
I would need a framework which allows me to insert vi's in a structure containg buttons "NEXT" , "BACK" and "Back to Top".
Archangel, helped me with an event structure found here, but there one can only return to the top-level. I want to be able walk back and forth from subvi to subvi , with "NEXT" and "BACK".
If one has a tutorial with many parts, it would also be nice if one could go directly to a submenu directly from the top. So that the students doesn't have to click "NEXT" a bunch of times, to reach there.
See the attached, if you don't understand what I mean.
Can somebody help me with that?

The solution will depend on how many steps you have and how easy you want it to be to modify them. The classic way to do this sort of thing is to use a tab control with hidden tabs. Each tab is one step. As you go from one step to the next, programmatically change the page of the tab control which is visible. This works for small numbers of steps which do not have lots of code behind them. For larger numbers of steps, the tab control is replaced by a subpanel control, and the steps are independent VIs loaded into the subpanel. I would recommend this architecture if you want a generic one. You can find information on using subpanels in the LabVIEW help and here.

802.1x computer-based network authentication (machine certificate)

Hello,
I am using my MBP for work and want to connected to my work's network.
We are using 802.1x network authentication, based on a computer certificate. I joined my computer to our Microsoft Active Directory and created a computer certificate, which I imported successfully to "System" store.
Only "Error description" is, that my MBP tries to authenticate as "User".
How do I configure my network settings, to use "computer-based authentication" and use the computer certificate?

Thanks, but in my case there is no administrator who send me that configuration profile. I have to create a configuration profile for myself.
I could create a configuration profile for my client and basically it uses a computer certificate to authenticate with the network. But finally the process is cancelled by the client. I tried the steps at OS X Server: How To Configure RADIUS Server Trust in Configuration Profiles when using TLS, TTLS, or PEAP - Apple Suppor… but finally the authentication was cancelled by client, with error ".. server certificate not trusted"
How should the computer certificate look like?
Is there a manual for the CA template?

Registry startup script for computer-based proxy configuration

I am attempting to deploy computer-based proxy server settings via importing a .reg file to user PCs as a startup script. It has appeared to work on some PCs but not on others. We have a mix of Windows XP Professional x86 and Windows 7 Professional x64 PCs
in our domain.
I am not sure whether to use "reg import" or "regedit /s" in my batch script.
Before trying the batch script method, using "Computer Configuration > Preferences > Registry" settings did not work.
I have created a GPO, applied it to an OU containing computers and used the following settings:
Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Scripts > Startup

You mentioned you have tried to configure the computer-based proxy settings via GPP but it didn’t work. Before going further, would you please let me know how did you configure the settings?
In order to narrow down the cause of the issue, I suggest we’d better collect the following information.
GPMC.log

a. On domain controller, click Start ->Run, type GPMC.MSC, it will load the GPMC console.
b. Right click on "Group Policy Result" and choose wizard to generate a report for the problematic computer and user account (please place appropriately). (Choose computer and select the proper
user in the wizard)
c. Right click
the resulting group policy result and click the "Save Report…" => save report to save the report to a HTML file.
Once we get the GPMC.log, please check the detailed report logged in it.
You said you have created a startup script to edit the registry key to configure the proxy setting of the computer but it worked on only some of the computers in the domain. Have you tried
to run the script on the problematic computer manually to see if it works? If it still fails to run, it could be related to the script issue, then we’d better ask in the script forum.

There is no free lunch anywhere in this world, and the same is true for the training as well of Oracle modules. If you can't get time out to attend an Instructor based training, you have two choices,
1) Self Study CD Roms Oracle offers the trainining in a self paced learning format with CD Roms which have all whatis needed to make one start and grow with the learning of a specific module. You can check which module you need and can order the cd rom for that. Learn more about this from here,

2) Live Virtual Class This is the newest standard that Oracle has introduced in the training formats. As the name suggests, this is a class which is surely taught by an instructor only but this doens't need you to come and attend a course at a specific location , for example at Oracle's education office. You can attend the prorgam while being at your home/office as well. It offers rich video/audio expereince which doesn't make you feel that you are just learning sitting in front of a computer. That said, both the options mentioned above are NOT free and there is NO free event happening anywhere which goes from the start to finish of a module. There are some small web events but they can't be called a training class as there are just some topics discussed in them. So once again, don't look for free lunch, its not there anywhere.

[iPhone] Navigation-Based Application template / UITableViewController

I'm new to development for both Mac OS X, the iPhone and Objective-C, but do have decent experience with C/C++. I'm trying to put together a series of simple iPhone applications to help expand my knowledge and wanted to ask whether or not I've got the right idea regarding my next test application.
I've used the Navigation-Based Application template to create an application that loads a Table View and populates it with a few items. I'm considering this Table View as the root menu for my application. Selecting an item from the Root Menu will take the user to a sub-menu (that is specific to the Root Menu selection). Selection of an item from the sub-menu will take the user to a view that'll let them perform a particular action.
I'm wondering the best way to go about structuring this kind of application? Should I create a controller class and accompanying xib for each of my sub-menus? If this is the case, would I have to use the didSelectRowAtIndexPath method to detect which menu item has been selected in order to determine which sub-menu view to push?
I'm happy to get my hands dirty and experiment (which is why I'm taking these baby steps), but I'm hoping someone with a little experience can come along and shed some light on how a relative professional would go about doing something like this?

Sounds like a good approach. You can use initWithNibName to load a view from a nib / xib. You can also re-use the same xib for different instances of the submenu view by parametrizing initWithNibName and do any customization to the controls in viewDidLoad.

Can the license manager load the computer-based license first, instead of the user-based license?

We have several machines in the lab with computer-based licenses on them and a number of techs with user-based licenses. When a tech needs to occassionally sign in as themselves, instead of the generic service account, the license manager attaches the machine to their user account. Not a problem until they try logging in to LabVIEW from their own PC again and they get the 14 day trial period notice.
Is there a way to have the license manager look for the computer license first instead of the user license?

Hi Joe,
In the license file hosted on the license server, you may be able to manually change the "sort" tag in the file to modify the order in which VLM checks out licenses. Licenses are checked out in descending order (2, then 3, then 4, etc.). Typically, your license file is set up in a default order, but in special cases such as this, it may be beneficial to alter the order. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Open the license file with a text editor (such as Notepad)
2. Search for the "sort" tag. For instance, the "VLM_Core" entry will have a sort tag value will appear as "sort=first". Do not alter this value. VLM_Core should always be first.
3. Change the sort tag value for the named-computer license to a value that is lower than the sort tag value for the named-user license. (e.g. "sort=2" for named-computer and "sort=3" for named-user).
4. Save the file and reinstall the license.

How to get a computer based certificate on ipad

Hi all,
As the search function keeps loading i will ask here.
I need a way to get computer based certificates on ipads in order to grant the ipad a VPN connection.
I already got it working with a computer based certificate of a laptop, but of course i need certificates that are bound to the ipad.
Maybe this is more Microsoft related, but is there a way for a user to obtain a certificate from <URL of PKI>/certsrv that automatically assigns a unique (host)name to the certificate? Or is it possible to open that website on the Ipad and obtain a certificate from there?
i saw an article (http://mobilitydojo.net/2012/01/31/certsrv-vs-mobile-devices/) where they had to do alot of tweaking to get the site working. That is not what we want. But maybe its working on the current version of the Ipad?

Well, it's been over two years since I wrote that article and it was obviously on an older version of iOS. So, I decided to take a new stab at it.
Unfortunately it seems it's still not supported on iOS to use the keygen tag. (It is an HTML5 tag so it's nothing "special" in that sense.
The "hacks" performed to do this are slightly hackish, that's true, and that is a Microsoft thing There are however other approaches you can take for interfacing with certsrv as well, so if modifying the original certsrv isn't your style you can code up something that will do the request for you (an intelligent proxy if you will). But as long as iOS doesn't play along it doesn't really help.
The weird thing is that the docs state that it's been supported since iOS 1.0, but I can't find anyone who has gotten it to work. Typo in docs, or bug?
I don't know if you're using MDM, or you would be ok with deploying through iPhone Configuration Utility, but have you considered if SCEP is an option for getting certs to the devices?

Do I have to use computer based mail app to send mail through Safari?

Can't believe I am confused on this...but....if I click on an email link in a web page that I am looking at in Safari, does sending email require opening and sending through a separate computer based mail app? My email accounts are through AOL, but doesn't seem that even if I sign in at AOL's website, that I can access a web page through them, and in turn have mail links link to my online AOL email page. That means that I have to use a mail app that people who access my computer and open and look into?

Nav based app template question (iphone)

Hi,
I have used the navigation based application for a hello world type application, but want to extend it to support 2 tableviews on the first screen.
It seems like the one automatically created is called "tableView" in RootController.xib).
I can create a view and then put the 2 tables views as children, but I don't know how to name them topTableView and bottomTableView.
Can I still use the nav based app template for this?

sorry, I'm a bit new to this as well, but I believe you would add two IBOutlets to your view controller (name them bottom and top) and then connect them via the interface builder to your actual table views. i don't think you get to name them in the properties panel like you would in visual studio, but this would give you access to them from your code.

LSO Web based training with Final Test

Hi,
Our requirement is to have E-learning course with a final exam in it, qualification should be imparted after successful completion of the exam. We have been able to do it by creating and structuring E-learning course in Authoring environment as multiple learning objects. Final test is attached to the learning net as a test element created in the learning net. With this way of course structuring, we have been able to achieve our objective of offering the E-learning with an exam in it for compliance certification, but system does not store the test results (you will get test feed back as pass/fail and final % score, but not at the item level as you can get in On-Line exam).
Figured that if you create exam as Post test (for Learning net), results are stored, but course can be passed/completed or reached to 100% as soon as you complete all the objects in the learning net (without the final exam). Post
test is linked to the learning net, but not as learning object.
My question is, how to make post test mandatory to set the course completed. Learning progress should not reach 100% before passing the final exam.
Really appreciate your help to figure this out.

Hi Ravi,
Delivery method we have used is 'Web based training'.
I also tried using Learning objectives on the learning net and on the Item group of the test. Set the course completion specifications to account for both Learning objects and learning objectives. Now learning progress is getting stuck at 50% even though final all objects and final exam is successfully completed.
Noticed that learning objectives are not being transfered to the participant in the backend.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can't get internet access to computer based DVR

I have a computer based DVR (security cameras), that I want to be able to see through the internet. I have done a lot of reading on the net for how to set port forwarding in both the router (Linksys WRT54G) and the modem (Westell 6100G). I can access the camera computer from other computers on the LAN using the camera computer local IP or by using the router IP, but can’t get to the camera computer from the internet. The modem is bridged and I created a port forward to the camera computer both in the modem and router. What am I missing?

This is a similiar set up and linksys requires that you put a port number for the start.

App is user-based rather than computer-based?

One thing I am really concerned about (and I really hope I am wrong) is that FCPX and Motion seem to be user based now rather than computer based. The structure for effects and such which I am concerned will affect how multiple accounts on the same machine will access the same features.
Has anyone played with this or noticed any change in the directory structure and placement of plugins, effects, generators etc. from the main librbary/application support/ that would affect this? Have some things been moved to the app package instead?
Moving forward I just want to know that when I have effects, plugins, generators, etc. that they are accessible to everyone on the computer. Perhaps I have a funky install and need to reinstall.
Tell me I am wrong! Please.

Thanks Tom. I thought and was hoping I was wrong. The few I have installed were setup for user-based installation except for FXFactory. Just wanted to be certain. I thought that would have been a change almost as bad as dropping FCS for sale the day of the FCP X release.

Video-based training and Captivate

I'm new to Captivate. My company focuses on film production
and we have been asked to create video-based training modules for a
large customer. We do all of our production work in Final Cut and
then we transcode videos to Flash (.flv).
We intend to create online courses that are video-based ( we
will add audio voiceovers) plus we will want to add still images
with audio and text (assessments, additional content, etc.).
Finally, we will need to upload our modules into a tier 1 LMS
(Saba, SumTotal, Oracle iLearning, etc.).
Is Captivate the tool for us?

Overall, Captivate is probably a good choice for you,
especially if you're already publishing your materials as FLV.
That said, you should probably be aware of the following when
using Captivate in the manner you've described:
1) Per some recent forum posts, a few folks are having
trouble getting FLV files to play all the way through. The video is
being cut off at the end for some reason. I suspect it's a case of
user error when configuring the slide timing, but you might want to
do a search of the forums and see if those folks ever got things
resolved.
2) Audio seems to be hit or miss in Captivate. Some folks
have problems, others have none. It seems mostly to do with how the
audio is brought into Captivate (recorded directly in the product
vs brought in as externally-recorded WAV or MP3 files) and where it
is placed (inserted at the slide level, or attached to a specific
button, such as a "Play Audio" button. I don't use audio in my
projects so I can't comment on the actual details, but again, a
search of the forums might be helpful.
3) Captivate publishes FLV files to the web as external files
that are dynamically loaded when the content is accessed. This
could potentially be a problem if the LMS doesn't allow a SCO to
consist of more than one file (seems unlikely, but worth mentioning
just in case).
4) Captivate offers a preloader that ensures enough of the
movie has downloaded prior to starting playback (and the preload
percentage is customizable if you own Flash). However, I don't know
if the preloader takes embedded videos into account, which could
impact your user experience if your movies are big and take a long
time to download.
5) Captivate advertises compatibility with SCORM-compliant
LMS products, but the published files often require tweaking to
work with a particular LMS. The forums will be helpful in this
regard, but there may also be some trial-and-error finding the
exact changes you need to make to support your specific LMS.
6) Captivate does not support multi-SCO SCORM manifests. If
you plan on deploying a multi-SCO course via SCORM, you'll need to
use a 3rd-party tool to create the manifest file. There's a number
of free and commercial products available that support both SCORM
1.2 and SCORM 1.3 (2004). A fairly comprehensive list can be found

Hopefully, other folks will chime in and offer assurances for
some of the issues raised above, but those are the main issues that
I've seen in the Captivate forums that might affect you.
