Computer "beeps" with each midi event. Any ideas?

I have GarageBand 08. I'm using a small M-Audio keyboard via USB connection to a MacPro. Audio output of the computer goes out to a home stereo system. I hear sound fine from the keystroke through the stereo system. Problem is, that with each input from the midi keyboard (including the pitch bend and modulation wheels), I hear a little beep from the CPU. It's kind of crazy-making. Any idea what this is and how to stop it?

WAIT! I figured it out. It was caused by the Audio MIDI setup application. I had enabled Test Setup when I plugged in the keyboard, but had not turned it off when I started GarageBand. So every keystroke was being "tested" and producing that nice little beep. I'll leave this here in case anyone else has this problem.
