Computer Broken Down Due to Skype?
So I’ve been having problems with my internet and computer for some time now, and I believe it was ever since the beginning of the year. I heard there was some sort of virus at that time. Recently, our computer had suddenly broken down and wouldn’t allow us to even start it up. I’ve been accused for being the cause of this just because I mentioned the Skype virus and for the excessive use of Skype on my phone. Is this the problem or is it something completely unrelated?

In addition, many people still use too much thermal paste and this can actually prohibit adequate heat sinking (it becomes almost an insulator!). The purpose of thermal paste is only to fill in the microscopic "valleys" on the surface of the CPU and HS metal (even the most mirror polished finish looks like peaks and valleys when viewed under magnification). So use Arctic Silver putting only a small rice grain or BB sized portion on the CPU and spread with a finger wrapped in plastic wrap (to prevent finger prints). Before adding paste clean off the old using thermal paste remover and clarifier solutions, available at Newegg.com or elsewhere. Do not get finger prints on the metal surfaces. X-((Spread the paste across the entire surface of the CPU- it doesn't have to perfectly even.
I hope these ideas help.
^^^^
I use an old credit card and cut a piece off about 1/4 wide to spread the thermal paste on the CPU die, but I do use your method (plastic over finger) to "tint" the heatsink.

My iphone is synced to a broken down computer, how can i sync it to a new computer?
Hi,
I want to update and add music to my iphone 4S but my iphone 4S is synced to a computer that has recently broken down....
I have another computer with an itunes library but when i attach the iphone 4S via USB the itunes library doesnt pick it up as a device and so i am unable to add anything to it......
How do i unsync my phone from the computer that is broken and re-sync it to the computer that is working?
is it even possible to do that????!!
I am not worried about backing up etc because i saved all my purchased songs to an external hard drive.
I really appreciate your help!
ShanaeYou may be able to extract the hard drive from the broken computer, mount it in an external drive bay and recover the library from it. Otherwise see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

how do i deauthorize a computer i no longer have? or has broken down on me and never had a chance to deauthorize it
If you did not deauthorize before selling, you have to deauthorize all from your actual computer:
Remember to deauthorize your computer before you sell it, give it away, or get your computer serviced. Also, make sure you deauthorize your computer before you upgrade your RAM, hard disk or other system components, or reinstall Windows. If you do not deauthorize your computer before you upgrade these components, one computer may use multiple authorizations. -
I need to deauthorise a computer that has broken down and have already recently used my deauthorise all, what can I do?
Go to the Store menu in iTunes, and select "View My Account..." When you get to the account page, click on "Deauthorize All." This will clear the list of computers authorized to play your songs. Then you can go and reauthorize them one at a time.

Just updated my RAM and now iMac shuts down "due to error" when in FCPX
Hi there,
So, I just purchased FCPX last week. Edited one of my projects only to find that my RAM is overloaded and isn't allowing my computer to handle to workload. Therefore I upgraded my RAM today to the max (16GB). Get my iMac home and up and running, everything looks good. I start up FINAL CUT PRO X, load my Library.....then boom.....shut down "due to error". THREE TIMES. Below is my system and info on new RAM. PLEASE HELP ASAP AS THIS IS TIME SENSITIVE! I upgraded my RAM due to the suggestion that it would solve my slow rendering/choppy video playback in FCPX.
Thanks. Ashley

Why does an email sent from an iPad or iPhone to ms outlook appear with attachments? Example: signatures at the bottom of the mail tend to be broken down into a series of unwanted attachments!
It worked for me. I took a picture with the iPhone's camera. Then opened the Photos app and selected the picture, and emailed it from one of my IMAP accounts to my gmail (also IMAP) account. When it showed up in the gmail inbox (on my iPhone), I forwarded it to my yahoo mail account (choosing the "inlcude attachments" option). When that showed up on my iPhone's yahoo inbox, the picture was there just as it should be.
So I guess the next thing would be to try it with non-iPhone pictures to see if it is a problem with image size or something. I have some 6-megapixel images in iPhoto I can try (taken as RAW/DEC format pictures with my dSLR).
Just tried it sending a Photo from my computer's iPhoto library - picture is 728KB, 2272x1704 jpeg. I emailed it to my gmail account, and it showed up on the iPhone just fine. Then I forwarded that to my yahoo account and again, it showed up just fine on both the iPhone and reading my yahoo mail via the web page.
Don't know what to say - I don't mean this to be just another "works for me" post. I was hoping to see something maybe depending on the size and origin of the picture.
By the way, my 3GS shipped with 3.0.1 on it, and I've updated it via iTunes normally to 3.1.1 and currently 3.1.2. Sorry I don't have anything constructive to add. -
HP Laptop Quickly Shuts Down Due to Thermal Overheating
I have an HP laptop that quickly shuts down due to thermal overheating. If the laptop has been sitting for hours to cool off, it will shut down in <= 5 minutes.
Laptop Details:
Model: HP 2000-239WM
Processor: Celeron(k) Dual Core CPU T 3500
bios #: F.19, 6/16/2011
Things tried:
Took the computer apart and cleaned the fan with compressed air. As soon as you turn on the laptop, you can hear the fan running like mad.
Booted the system from a Live USB Drive version of Ubuntu
I would like to run a hardware diagnostic but the system responds saying that it will take 27 minutes and the laptop shuts down well before then.
Any ideas about what might be the problem or what else to try?
I would appreciate any help you could me.You could try buying a external fan to set the laptop on when you use it to prevent overheating

IPod shuts down due to "low battery" even when fully recharged
OK..
I got big problems with my iPod battery.
I've already sent my iPod to Apple once, but they returned it saying nothing is wrong and giving "helpful" tips about turning the backlight off in order to make the battery last longer..
Well, I sorta disagree about there not being any problem. And I did feel a bit insulted about the claim that my iPod is not malfunctioning as well as the hints about me being a retard who needs to be told that using the backlight continuously might have an affect on battery life.
(but in case my retardedness is to blame for all my problems with my iPod, please let me know. )
During he last 2 months or so, the iPod keeps shutting down due to "low battery" even though it's been connected to the USB port for, like, 20 hours straight.
Tried different ports and computers without any luck.
The recharging-icon is usually moving while connected to the computer, but I don't get the "battery is fully loaded" message (or icon?) anymore.
Sometimes when the iPod has shut itself down due to low battery, it can still be used for ~10 hours by turning it on/resetting multiple times. When that happens, the battery icon is at first "empty", but then bar suddenly goes to half full.
I also suspect that resetting it 7 times before plugging it into a USB-port helps. Occasionally.
No way to tell if there's 15 hours or 15 seconds life left in he battery. I just got got home from a 2 x 8,5 hour flight and the iPod shut down right after the first take-off So.. yeah.. I'm ****** off atm.:/
I've tried all the tricks I've found on the net (resetting, software updates etc.) but nothing helps.
Don't know if it could have any relevance, but it seems like the problem appears more often when playing audio books - long mp3 files, that is...
Help, anyone? Pretty please?
PC Windows XPI have the exact same problem. About 2 weeks before the end of my 1-year warranty, I contacted Apple about the problem. They sent a box with prepaid shipping (I paid for it) and I sent the iPOD back to Apple. Today, I checked the status of my repair and the screen reads:
Step 1 - Request
Product received (05-Apr-2006)
Step 2 - Service
No trouble found (11-Apr-2006)
Step 3 - Return
Original product shipped (11-Apr-2006)
I contacted Apple Customer Service and was told that they ran diagnostics and nothing was wrong with the unit. I asked them if it mattered that I noticed problems with the iPOD that they don't seem to see and they said no. They said the problem could be with my charger, but I told them that I recently lost my charger and had used several different chargers that work with other peoples iPODs just fine. I even left it to charge overnight and the next day I could barely play one song. The woman I spoke with told me that if I had any problems with the iPOD after it was returned to me, I would have to send it back (they would not provide the box) and pay $225 since it is no longer in warranty .
My problem is that the unit was in warranty when I sent it, they didn't fix it (they couldn't find this very obvious problem), and now it isn't in warranty. The only way I can listen to music is to plug it into an A/C outlet while it is playing. My other option is to buy another mp3 player.
Has anyone else had this problem? Have you found a solution? Thanks! -
My computer shuts down unexpectedly
I bought my computer about 2 years a go, its an 13 inch aluminum macbook . In the last two months I have had to repair my UNTITLED DISK due to a "volume issue". In the last 3 weeks my computer shuts down unexpectedly.
Dont know what to doNote the exact time the event occurs, and then check your system logs in your Console application for clues to the cause. You may have a thermal issue. Look for lines with thermal in them.

I cannot download new itunes, my computer says unable due to MSVCR80.dII.I don't know what to do. I am old, so any answer will have to be simple.
The most thorough explanation of resolving the iTunes issues is found in the user tip https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6562 and just print that out and start working down through it step by step.

tried PRAM and tried unplugging all external devices, but it did not help
even did standard and deep diagnostics as well but no problems surfaced - now i have an onsite visit scheduled
i read in another post that this could be due to using HDMI for the display but i havent been able to ascertain what the issue could be - ill post what the outcome of my onsite visit is on oct 1 -
My macbook pro no longer connects to my TV with the mini dvi to hdmi adapter. A while ago the computer fell down and hit the cable. How can I tell if the computer is working ok. Doesn't show mirroring any more. Was working while watching a movie but when I pulled it out from the computer and put it back in the system would no longer mirrorr the screen on the TV.
The best option is an appointment at an Apple store genius bar. The evaluation will be for FREE!

Computer shuts down without going to sleep
hello,
i've had an increasingly swollen battery with a corresponding diminished life. to a point that it barely fit, lasted ten minutes on its own and when it became depleted, the macbook pro would just shut down without a warning.
so i bought a new one and although it lasted about 2h30 on its first cycle, when it displayed the low battery warning, the computer shut down without going to sleep...
tried resetting PRAM, and SMC to no avail.
i charged it back up a bit and it shut down again.
it's on its 3rd cycle and battery health already dropped from 100% to 94%.
anything i can do?
thanks...Are you sure it is shutting down and not going to sleep "permanently"? I say this because I have (and others) a somewhat similar problem but it's not shutting down, it sleeps forever:

Also, I was going to suggest maybe your battery has died out, but you said it is plugged in, so probably not your battery as the problem. -
Can someone tell me how to unlock ro un freeze my touh, my computer powered down whilethe touch was in sync and now it is locked up with the usb symbol showing on the screen
see if this link helps http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 if that doesn't help you may need to put your phone in DFU mode while connected to itunes.

Delay before startup chime: bad sign?
Recently I (sometimes) have an unexpected delay between pressing the power button of my macbook and the startup chime (quite a few seconds). Scary. Then everything works fine. Is there something that I should worry about? Patrick Belgium Earth
