  • How do i get a different mac computer to recognize my ipod?

I have recently gone to college and did not take the computer that I had used at home, which happened to be a dell, and now I am using an iMac. When i tried to plug in my iPod shuffle a window popped up saying that it had to delete all the songs to recognize the iPod in iTunes. How can I make this computer to recognize my iPod without deleting all my songs?

You can't, it is designed to work with only one computer/library.
After you tell it no, you can download 3rd party software (such as el ipodo) that will let you copy the songs as files to the mac, Add them to the Library, then, if you want to use iTunes, connect the Shuffle again and say Yes to link it. Your songs will be on the Mac and you can copy them back to the Shuffle.

Did you do everthing here including removing and reinstalling all the the Apple software using the instruction within?

I can't get my computer to recognize my iPod 4 touch after I do a software update.  The iPod goes into restore mode and the the computer won't recognize the iPod no matter what USB port I'm pluged into, or if I reboot the iPod, the computer, or iTunes.

Alright, Im not an idiot and I read every post related to this subject. I reviewed each of the following links and did everything they told me to do:

I recently upgraded to the newest iTunes version and now my older Ipod is no longer recognized by my computer. iTunes doesnt open, it just gives me an error message in the bottom right corner saying Unknown Device. Ive tried looking for / updating drivers, reseting, everything and nothing works. I tried every USB port on my laptop as well. Running Win XP. Can anyone offer any other suggestions on how i can fix this???
    Thanks

Its been working perfectly for 4 years until last week. I have the USB/FireWire combo for hooking it up to my computer. It worked with all the older version of iTunes and now that 7.1.1 is on there, it wont recognize it at all. The computer is convinced there are no drivers for the "unknown device" and all searches performed for the missing drivers come up empty. The computer cannot see the iPod as an iPod, and none of this happened until I downloaded the most recent iTunes.

  • My ipods are no longer recognized after I installed my Iphone I have 2 ipods that I have music on and still want to use them so how do I get the computer to recognize the ipods again?

I recently got an Iphone and after I installed it on my computer my 2 ipods are no longer able to sync to the computer how do I get the computer to recognize the 2 different ipods so I can still use them?

Since you already had two iPod before getting the iPhone, what exactly did you need to "install" to use the iPhone?  Doesn't it use to the same iTunes installation you already used with the iPods?
So, I guess my question is, what changed on the computer when you started using the iPhone?
What happens now when you connect the iPod?  Is the iPod still seen in Windows device manager?

  • I can't get my computer to recognize my iPod.

Hi everyone. Ok, here's my problem: I had this iPod [not video, just photo] and it died, so I got an iPod Video with my guarantee. But when I connected it to the computer, the computer did not recognize it. I've tried everything but it doesn't matter what I do, neither my computer or the iTunes program will recognize it. What can I do? Please help me. Any help will be thanked and used.

  • Neither iTunes nor my computer will recognize my iPod

My iPod has a white screen and will not turn off until the battery dies.
I suspect it needs reformatting but, when I connect it to my computer, Windows recognizes only the USB Mass Storage Device aspect of the iPod and nothing else...So, it doesn't show up in iTunes for reformatting.
I haven't seen anything like this before and I can't find any similar discussions. Please help! (I have already completed the first four "r"'s so, please don't suggest them!)

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.

  • Can I get my computer to recognize my iPod w/out losing music???

An iPod (60GB) given to me by a friend, with about 500 songs on it, will not be recognized by my laptop (I get the iPod Updated launched and the only option it gives me is to reformat). I use another iPod (mini) on this laptop too. How can I get my computer to recognize it, or is it possible, without reformatting and losing all of the music already on it? I don't have any of the paperwork / drivers / cds that came with it, but it is still under warranty (88 days left). Please help!!! Is there a way to get the music saved off of it before I reformat it?

  • I can't get my computer to recognize my Ipod nano

I'll plug my Ipod up and it says it's charging but it isn't showing up on itunes..it won't show Summer's Ipod when I plug it up

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
Then try with the iPod in forced disk mode.

  • My computer wont recognize my ipod touch, when i go into the devices list (windows 7) it comes up but its under unspecified and says it needs troubleshooting. what can i do to get it to connect properly again?

when i plug in my ipod into the right usb port it makes the connecting noise but nothing pops up and itunes does nothing. then when i look into the devices list it is under a category called unspecified and says that it needs troubleshooting. if i run the troubleshooting program it says it could not find a solution to the problem. i want to know how to fix this.

I was struggling with this since my latest Itunes update.  Fiirst it would not recognize my IPad as a device, after correcting that, it would list the Ipad in my device but my Sync had no options (summry, info, etc). and it kept saying it was "Accessing Itunes store".  reading your question I suddently tried deleting the itunes task (alt-ctrl, delete, processes) and delete Itunes.  (By the way, I had rebooted my computer several times over the last few days).  I opened up Itunes, and voila. Device is there. No "accessing windows" and my sync has the normal options.
