Computer clicking and sleeping

"Is the problem my power adapter or my computer?"
My computer went to sleep. I watched the power slowly dwindle so I kept re-inserting the power adapter and the power kept going down then went to sleep.
I noticed that my Macally power adapter light was blinking which I never noticed before. The blinking conincides with an audible click - like a real fast heart beat.
I also noted that when I ran my finger over the top of the computer (closed) I felt the power running throught the computer. When I unplugged the power adapter I did not feel the power.
Is it my power adapter or my computer?

Computer Name and Sleep

I have been able to let my iMac go to sleep in recent days, but it causes a new problem: Duplicate network name. There are no other computers on the network with the same name. There is a G4 Cube running 10.4 (which has never had this problem) and a Time Capsule. Right now its at -3 and presumably will increment to -4 the next time I wake it from sleep. How do I fix this?

I tried changing the computer name, and this resulted in the issue becoming intermittant. Not sure what to make of this, but ultimately I get the same error using different computer names.

NEED HELP: My computer clicks and clicks and then does other stuff

I'm hoping someone can help me.
I know this sounds like my HD is on it's last legs, but something doesn't seem right.
I have an iMac Intel Core 2 Duo and after tipping the screen back to view the RAM slot, suddenly my computer has clicks.
During start-up, it will click 6 times, stop, click again and then repeat this sequence until it reaches a grey screen with a file and question mark.
Now, I've heard this from others, but it takes just one restart and the computer is fine.
It started a week ago with just a couple clicks as it started up, but now it's every time.
I have backed up, done disk utility checks, done a SMART test, upgraded to leopard then snow leopard and NOTHING appears to be wrong.
I asked a local tech and he says that the tipping movement might have just set off my HD to kick it to the last days of it's life, but he NEVER asked me about the tests or offered an alternative solution (like, have you tried this test?...)
It was just "Ok, that will be about $200 to get a new hard drive in"
Does anyone have any thoughts or advice?

It's difficult to tell what is wrong with your computer but I'd suggest running the Apple Hardware Test, follow the link and use the instructions in the letter then report back what you found.

Try a hard reset. ( holding Power til it restarts)
Once to your desktop. Click the Apple icon >> About this mac >> More info>> Storage
Once you see what you have the most of. Try to see what you can delete.
Open up any folder>>all files>> or buy an external to store more data.
Once deleting make sure you empty your trash.
If you are new and its a new computer, you might need to bring it to a store for further assistence.

I just recently got back from iraq and bought a iphone 4 like 4 months ago. I finally got my computer back and I hooked up my phone to the computer to sync and register my phone. I clicked on restore previous settings and now my phone has all my old stuf.

I just got my computer yesterday and I hooked my iphone to the computer. Instead of hit set up as a new phone, I end up clicking on restore previous settings. Now all my new pictures, contact, videos, etc, are gone. I have my phone with old stuff from over a year ago. Is there a way for me to get my current stuff back. Did itunes save it somewhere and I dont know how to get it. Please help me out. Let me know if I can get it back or not.

Had an iPhone 4 updating the OS when it was interrupted by the computer going to sleep and now is frozen on "plug into iTunes" screen. Home/Power button combo will not reset, iTunes does not acknowledge the phone is plugged in.

I recently upgraded to the 5s, so I delegated my old iPhone 4 to a music player/daughter checking instagram and email. Three days ago I plugged the iPhone 4 into iTunes to update it, the OS began updating. During the update my computer went into sleep mode, interrupting the OS update. Now the phone will not do anything but show the screen with the graphic indicating to plug the phone into iTunes. I've tried a hard reset (holding down power button/home button), plugging the phone into iTunes before/during holding down the home button, holding down the buttons for various lengths of time in various permutations according to info I've found online, etc, and nothing happens beyond a brief showing of the Apple logo and then back to the same screen. iTunes will make a connection noise when the phone is plugged in but otherwise makes no indication that a device is plugged in (no iPhone button in the tool bar, etc.). Any ideas or do I need to take it to an actual Apple store and hope they don't tell me it is completely bricked?

Yep, done all that. Repeatly. Don't get any sort of recovery mode message or the phone showing up on iTunes at all. iTunes is most current version, all diagnostics show everything fine, and it works fine with my current phone. Just....nothing.

Do you still have all toolbars visible (View > Toolbars)?
Did you use an extension or the standard zoom buttons that you can find in the toolbar palette in the View > Toolbars > Customize window ?

I have OS X 10.5.8 on my iMac, I'm trying to install Snow Leopard. When I insert the disk and click install it will start to install, then once it gets about 1/4 of the way done my computer restarts and it spits the disk back out.

I bought the Mac OS X Snow Leopard Install DVD from the Apple Store.

When I connect my iphone and open itunes the iphone icon shows up but when I click it nothing happens and the icon disappears. I have uninstalled and re-installed itunes. Turned my computer off, and turned my iphone off. Restarted everything.

My computer won't shutdown and sleep

I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and my computer won't shutdown and sleep. When i try to shutdown pc, everything shutsdown (hdd etc.) but only fans and led's stay on. I have to press power button to shut it down. Even i try to sleep the pc everything shutsdown
but fans and stuff is still on i have to press power button to completely turn it off. I tried to write powercfg -energy code to command prompt and i got 8 errors and 7 warnings. How to solve that problem?

How long does migration of data/files from iMac to Mac usually take? And does it matter if the computer goes to sleep mode? Will it still transfer data?

There is no stock answer.....the time to transfer depends on computer speed, amount of data...and so on.
I set my computer to never sleep when I am migrating data.

I did not download any upgrades or anything else, and I have Norton 360 version 3. I can open Internet Explorer, but that's not my default browser, so I have no problem with the Internet connection.
What could be the problem, how can I restore my browser without losing my bookmarks, settings, etc?

Computer freezing and making clicking noise

Hi,
Every time click Safari, iMovie, or iDvd my computer freezes and starts to make this weird clicking noise (that i think is coming from the top right corner, but I'm not completely sure). Has anyone experience this problem before.

Just these applications? Typically, a clicking noise comes from a failing hard drive. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you should check this out.

Why would you not want to set them and then find out? If Apple advises not to let the computer go to sleep when it is inactive during Migration, it probably will and mess things up. So just temporarily set it to never sleep and set it back to your usual setting when the migration is done.

HT1338 My mac book pro has three updates ready to install. When I select all three of them and click install it shows them downloading, the computer restarts, and when the computer turns back on and I go to updates again they are still there to install.
