Computer crash!!! how can i restore my files?!!!

last nite i dropped my laptop while it was on and the battery fell out. it took forever to get it to restart and when it did all my pictures, music and videos were gone!! is there any way i can get them back?

Sure we do, they cost about $50 and I believe they're by a name of Black Widow or something.

Computer Crashed - How can I restore Ipod Library

My computer crashed and I needed to replace the hard drive. I have re dowloaded I tunes, but when I connect my Ipod it says my Ipod is connected to another PC. I had spent months setting up my Ipod and loading ALL my CD's onto it not to mention my purchases music/games/videos the thought of starting all again is killing me. Is there a simpler answer out there? Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. Relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

HELP! How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?

I am having a few problems with bootcamp on my imac. When i tried to move the bootcamp partition on windows 7 into free space, it crashed and turned off. Ever since i have had the error 'Missing operating system' and it fails to boot. I have some very important files on the bootcamp partition. Is it possible to recover these files or even to restore the bootcamp partition to it's original state? I do not have a backup of my bootcamp partition. Another problem i have is that ever since i tried to expand my macintosh HD partition into free space, when i hold alt while booting up (to choose which partition to boot like i normally do), the bootcamp partition has stopped appearing. This means that i cannot even boot the windows 7 bootcamp partition anymore!
So basically here are my 2 questions:
How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?
How can i make the Bootcamp partition appear in Startup Disk and when i hold the option key while starting up my computer to allow me to boot windows 7?
Any solutions are very much apreciated!

I know that bootcamp (disk0s4) hasn't been fully deleted since it appears in disk utility (i cant do anything to it though)

WinClone 3 is OS X and saves Windows image it makes for restore - that should work but you will have to try and you would need to make a new image unless it also works with a native Windows system restore image. It is now supported and has come a long way.

Paragon Clone OS works and does disk-to-disk clone just like CCC you end up with two bootable drives. But does not work with your setup. It would let you clone and move your Windows install to an SSD or another disk drive though and be bootable.
During its clone process it checks for errors which is very helpful and lets you know - something CCC and others should adopt more of.

There are a number of things to do like chkdsk and others as well as Windows DVD to do automatic system repairs and find out why.
AppleHFS - the abilty to mount and read HFS volumes can be notorious.

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications. I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone. I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups. I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either. On how many computers do you already have this same purchased activated serial number? Assuming just the computer that crashed?
If just that one crashed computer, then just install the program from your installation files or installation disc.
But, make sure your installation files or installation disc for the crashed computer will be supported by the new computer.
If you already have the same purchased activated serial number on two computers (crashed and another one), then you will need to deactivate
this purchased activated serial number for the other non crashed computer before trying to install on the new computer.
We can give you more details on Deactivation once we know the program version.
Adobe allows the purchased activated serial number on no more than 2 of your computers. And you cannot use them at the same time.

Are you using Photostream? If yes, then you will be able to see your 1000 most recent photos on your Mac in iPhoto.
All your contacts, calendar events, emails, etc. will still be on your Mac as part of iCloud.
If you didn't import your videos from your iPhone to your Mac, then you've lost them unless you can restore your cloud backup to another iOS device.

If the music was purchased from the iTunes store you can transfer it by connecting the phone to your computer and choosing "transfer purchases" from the File menu. For photos there are programs for your computer that can allow you to view files on the iPhone and transfer them, but the photos are reduced resolution so if you took them with a good camera the quality will be much lower than the originals that you didn't back up.
BTW, there is absolutely no excuse for not backing up photos; there are so many free Internet photo archives (Picasa, Flickr, etc).

Check the Windows recycle bin, you may be able to recover the files from there. Right-click on the recycle bin icon on the desktop and select Open. This will open Explorer, if the files are listed there, right-click on them and choose Restore.
If the files are not in the recycle bin, you can try a file recovery utility such as recuva - http://www.piriform.com/recuva

My computer crashed last night, so now I'm on my mother's. I'd like to sync this iPod to it so that I can back up all of the files, just in case something happens to my iPod.
However, iTunes has sensed that my iPod is synced with another, which I can't reach anymore, seeing as my computer can't even turn on.
How do I get around this? I really can't afford to lose everything. I've already lost about $10 of music that I never got around to putting on my iPod...

Playing from iTunes without downloading is streaming during play. iPod can't stream unless it is a version with wifi. So you need to download files then syn iPod with iTunes.
I do this for my iPod since my wife and I use same iTunes account. If I allow auto syncing it mixes my podcasts with hers, subscriptions, plays, and deletes.

1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

Yes, you should still be able to use your iPod Mini on your new Windows 7 PC. Simply download iTunes from Apple's website and you should be good to go. You don't need the original software that came with it anymore as it's now bundled with the iTunes application.

My computer crashed last week and I had Photoshop Elements 9 installed on it. It has been quite a few years since I bought the program and I have since lost the disc during the multiple moves I've went through. Is there any way I could redownload it somehow without paying for it again? My computer is basically trash now so there's no real way for me to get the program off or deactivate it.
