Computer crashed forcing me to reformat which cost me my files.
So due to a deadly virus that my computer contracted, I ended up having to completely reformat my computer. I was no longer able to start it up so I had no way to get in there and save any of my files. My iTunes library and my backups were included in those files. My library, however, is still on my iPhone. However, when I plug it and and try to sync it to my computer, it threatens to erase my iphone of everything because it is synced to another library. Is there no way for me to get the phone to sync up with this new installation and transfer the library that is saved on the phone to the computer?

That's nothing anyone can find out. The activations are anonymous in such a manner that Adobe never knows which machine they were used on, only that they have been used and the serial number was valid. Your only option is to deactivate all installs, draw up a list and then reactivate one at a time and have support reset everything on their end.

Computer Crashed! How do I set up itunes w files on an external hardrive?
My notebook has a corrupted hard drive and went to junk when I tried to install Service Pack 3 for XP and I cannot get it to run. How can I set up itunes on a new computer when I cannot open itunes in my old one and use the ipod to synch or burn CDs as support suggests? I have all of my music files on an external hardrive and am hoping I can use this to set up on new machine; however, I cannot find any guidance on how to do this or if possible.......

OK so my computer crashed. I know I have all the music files so no biggie on that end of things. However, how am I supposed to get my apps back??? I've got the ones on the phone but if I sync it to the new computer it will sync whats on the computer on to the phone right? Thus leaving me with none... SOMEONE slap me in the face and tell me there is a way.... :-/ Thank you in advance!
When you get you computer running again, log onto the same account you had and you can download previous apps.

Not if you first do a sync and have iTunes make a backup. However, if your only copy of the iTunes data is in the Touch, then you need to first copy the data to a new iTunes Library using third-party software such as Phone To Mac.

Hi, I am not able to restore my ipad (I have tried different techniques but it stays frozen at the Apple logo level). If I try through my computer, it forces me to reset factory settings erasing my Media content which I haven't backed up. Ideas please?

My computer crashed a few months ago and my IT guys were not able to restore my music files.. at least I can't find them. When I log into Itunes, all of my music and play lists appear but when I click to play a song in Itunes on computer, it says the files can not be found. My Ipod obviously has all of my music but I'd like to add more (without deleting what I've got on there) and to copy back whats on my Ipod back to my computer. If I plug together and my computer sync then I will loose all music... needing detailed instructions please.from what i understand, the procecess is similar on both mac and pc, so i'll try help you here. have you set your preferences to "automatically update all"?

if this isn't working, maybe try moving one that you are certain is in the correct format, manually. import it from scratch to your itunes, and then copy it to the ipod.
If i click 'import files' the only files it comes up with are text file. Should it be doing this?' So the only files i can import are written documents :/
If i select 'add files' it dosnt add them to my libary at all.
I tryed what you said, i deleted my movies then loaded one into my libary which i no is in the right format but it still said that it is unable to put into my ipod.

ThanksLucky for you, I just found out how to get the music stored on your iPod by messing around with it. I'm not much of an Apple user (I only have a shuffle), so I'm not 100% sure it would work the same way as yours.. but it's worth a shot.
if your iTunes didn't sync with your iPod yet,... that would be great..
1, Make sure your iTunes does not automatically sync with your iPod (I don't know if this would help..)
2, Click on your iPod and go to settings, check "Enabe Disk Use"
Your iPod should now have a partition on My Computer called AFJCHAW's IPOD or whatever you named your iPod... If you go to that disk, you'll notice there's nothing in there.
3, Click on Organize at the top right part of Windows Explorer(Windows 7, don't know how in XP..), go th the Folder and search options, view tab, and click on show hidden files, folders, and drives.
If you go back to your disk, you should be able to find a folder
4, It'll be pretty straightforward then. Go to iPod_Control/Music. You'll find folders there. Inside the folders are each of your music files (they're renamed but the Details would still be about the same).
If you did get your music files back from this procedure, then, yay! it worked!!
If you didn't,.... it should've worked.. -
often for no apparent reason the computer crashes and nobody available to any command (keyboard or mouse), the images disappear. I am forced to shut down and restart the computer.
open console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem for clues.

My computer crashed and has recently been reformatted and unfortunately itunes has been deleted. I don't have my itunes backed up anywhere but i did manage to retrieve it when a similar thing happened a couple of years ago. Unfortunately the link is now outdated so i wonder if someone can send me information or instructions on how to reload my itunes library from my ipod.

Our old computer crashed which had all the kids ipod touch library on it. Now when I try to connect them to new computer it says I need to erase all data, apps, etc. to sync with new computer. It is saying that it can only be connected to one library at a time. Is their anyway around this without having ot erase all their stuff?
- Transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other music by using a third-party program like on of those discussed here:
newer copy
- Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music. -
