Computer crashed...how do i get back music i purchased?

I had to reinstall everything on my laptop, and I lost I Tunes. I have reinstalled it, but is there any way to get back the music that I paid for through itunes? Do i have to repurchase it? Surely not......right?

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

when your computer crashes how do your get the music on your iphone back on your new computer?

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases

My old computer crashed how do i get the music from my ipod to sinc with my itunes library?

You should be able to copy iTunes purchases to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. For music that you've bought from other sources or copied from your own CDs then have you not got a backup of them on, for example, an external drive that you can copy onto the computer ? If not then you will need to find a third-party program to copy them off - this post mentions some that were around a couple of years ago, whether they still exist and work I don't know.

My computer crashed, how do I retrieve all my tunes that I paid for?

Try Restoring the tunes from icloud by: 1 click itunes store in itunes, 2 on the home page, click Purchased, 3 in the music tab, hit the button with a cloud and an arrow on the tunes you want!
    YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN!!!!!

Use the backup of the computer to put all your media and other important data on the new computer.
If for some ridiculous reason you have failed to maintain a backup, some content can be redownloaded from the iTunes down.

  • Whole Computer crashed , How do I get back my Lightroom info???

My G4 crashed and I retrieved the all the data on the disc. Then I had to erase and install os 10 again. I backed up every thing on the hard drive to an external hard drive. I installed Lightroom again and updated to the latest version. Now I have no Idea how to get back to where I was. I spent months organizing in Lightroom and have many collections I would like to access again. Do I have to import the pictures again. Where do I start???? I do not understand the Iscrat files?
    thanks!

Find your .lrcat file; this is your catalog file where Lightroom keeps track of all your images, folders, collections etc. (You may find multiple .lrcat files: if you had Lightroom do catalog backups then you will see the backed-up catalogs as well; they will also be .lrcat files).
Start Lightroom and open the catalog that you have found. After you open the catalog, you may find many folders coloured Red, indicating that Lightroom no longer knows where the folders are. However, this will not be the case if you have restored all your pictures to their original folder structure that existed before the crash.
So, find your catalog (.lrcat) file, open it and post back here if you have further issues. I am not using a Mac, but I am sure there are other here who will help you with specific Mac issues.

My desktop with iTunes crashed, how do i get my music on my phone to the new Itunes on my laptop?

Have you not got a backup of your content on external drives and/or CDs/DVD ? If so then you can copy that onto the computer and load them into iTunes. Have you tried doing File > Transfer Purchases in iTunes with the phone connected to see if any of you purchases transfer over ? If you are in the US then you should also be able to re-download past music purchases : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
If you havn't bothered backing up your content then you could see if any of the utilities mentioned on this old post still exist and work : https://discussions.apple.com/message/11014893?messageID=11014893#11014893

  • I have signed into a new account on my itunes on my computer. How do I get the music from the new account to be displayed in my library, because I can only see the old accounts music.

I have signed into a new account on my itunes on my windows computer. How do I get the music from the new account to be displayed in my library if only the old account's music is showing up?

You can transfer the music purchased from iTunes Store to the computer but not music acquired somewhere else.
Syncing is one way street, computer to iPhone. You have to use 3rd party tool to transfer music not from iTunes Store to the computer.
