Computer crashed, reloaded CS5, says serial number not for qualifying product

Loaded CS5 on new computer successfully.  loaded updates successfully.
Trying to load CS5 on 2nd computer (old computer with new Windows 7 installation) and after it loads and I try to install updates... the updates fail to load and I get the following error message: 
Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product" | CS6, CS5.5, CS5
any help is appreciated.

Missiejackson the error you are experiencing is likely due to a previous installation of Adobe Creative software.  Please use the available uninstallers in the Programs and Features control panel to remove any installed software.  Once this is done you will want to run the CC Cleaner Tool to ensure complete removal.  You can find instructions and a download link at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
Finally if you need a fresh copy of the installation files they are available at Download CS5 products.

    So, please explain.
    You should have a serial number specific to Premiere Elements and another specific for Photoshop Elements. Excuse the
    question but I do not want to take anything for granted. By any chance are you using the Photoshop Elements serial number to install
    your Premiere Elements 4?

  • Upgraded from CS5 to CS6 - Serial number not for a qualifying product. Chat not available

    I get a page saying "serial number not for a qualifying product. Please try another. " during install. I upgraded from Design Standard CS5  to Design Standard CS6 .
    Also, Chat is never available to me. 6 tries to no avail so far.
    Any help would be most appreciated or if someone knows how else I can contact Adobe as Chat is never available.

    I attempted to reslove via CS chat but was unable to get assitance due to it being "outdated".
    In so many words: That's BS. Only support can look into the customer database and they have to sort it out. Contact them again, escalate the case to the next level until you get someone qualified enough to resolve your issue.

    I installed Adobe Creative Suite Production Premium (CS5) on a new PC (Windows 8.1).  Installation was successful.  I uninstalled it on old PC and de-activated it.  My problem is that I can't Update.  Without Updates, I can't read newer Canon photos (so I can't use Bridge or PhotoShop).  In doing the install the first time, I put in an incorrect Adobe product number (I think from Elements 8.0, which I purchased years ago).  I have re-installed twice using the correct serial number, but same result:  I can't Update the programs and get a "Serial Number is not for qualifying product" error..  Please help.  Dave

    It's asking you or prompting you to input the old serial number of the version that you used to upgrade to your new version.

  • Issue with CS5 deactivation on old computer and reactivation on new - serial number not working

    Please help - we are owners of Creative Suite Design Premium CS5 - I just recently switched my wife to a new computer using migration ( we have macs), when I try to deactivate the old license on the old computer it gives me an error, thus preventing me from activation on the new computer. At least, I think this is what the problem is, because I've tried every serial number I've ever received from adobe and none of them work.
    I know you want everyone to go to CC, but we've paid Adobe thousands of dollars over the years and I expect this software to work. Please help - this is the only way I can contact you with my problem. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. 

    This was the only available option to me, according to adobes site. Their lack of support for older software is mind boggling. So the only way for me to get to talk to someone is by fibbing on their extensive question list before the process actually begins. I guess I will try that if I don't hear from an Adobe team member here...

    I use CS 5.5 Production Premium for quite some time now.
    Today I tried to start Audition for the first time.
    It gives me a choice to continue to use as a trial or provide the serial number.
    When I enter my regular CS 5.5 s/n, it says "the serial number is not valid for this product".
    All other products work.
    What do I have to do to make Audition start?

    I recently upgraded to CS6 Production Premium from PP CS5.5.  I'm running the programs but everytime I open one of the programs in the suite I get this message: Serial Number Upgrade "serial number you provided is valid, but a qualifying production could not be found on this computer."  I then choose Production Premium CS5.5 from the product list and enter my serial and then I get "this serial number is not for a qualifying product.  Please try another."  I quit the adobe registration program and I can still use my CS6 programs but it constantly pops up. 

    I've seen this sometimes when the languages do not match, between the earlier and the new product. Could you verify that you selected the correct language.
