Computer crashed, songs on iPod that I would like back in iTunes

My computer crashed a while ago and, obviously, I cannot get my songs on my iPod back into my iTunes library. I was wondering if there is a way that I am not aware of that could help me do this.

Yeah, and I had backed some up, but there are still tons on my iPod that I would like to get back onto my computer. I have a friend who had used some downloaded software, but she can't remember what it was, so I was wondering if anyone knew anything about that.

I have an older video ipod that I would like to take the songs off of and put on my new iphone. I haven't used the ipod in a few years. Is there a way to do this?

Yes.  See this article from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different ways to copy content from your iPod over to your computer and into iTunes.  Once you have successfully done that, you can go ahead and sync the content over to your iPhone.

  • Computer crashed, have photos on i pod, would like to transfer back

I lost everything on my hard drive and had to start over. There are many photos on my i pod that I would like to have back on my computer. Any way to transfer them back??

Unfortunately, you can't transfer the photos that you've synced to your iPod through iTunes. However, you can use a utility, like [TouchCopy|http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy> to import them back to your computer. The photos that are transferred back to your computer will not be identical to the ones you synced over originally. They will be lower quality because they've been optimized for the iPod's screen with a resolution of 640x480.

  • I have an iPod video. My computer crashed, I have reinstalled iTunes, luckily I had back up of music so that's ok. I have photos on my iPod that I would like to transfer back to the computer as I lost them!! But it is a database file and I cannot open it.

My computer crashed and I lost my photos, but had a backup of my music. How can I open the database file to transfer the pics back to my computer? Help please.

You won't be able to, just by navigating out the iPod's photos folder in iTunes. You'll likely need the help of some sort of third party software to get the job done for you.  One thing you'll want to keep in mind about these photos is that they are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnail versions that were optimized for viewing on your iPod's Video smaller 2.5" LCD display.
    Here is one such product.

  • I have songs on my Ipod, that I would like to upload to my itunes. Some of the songs are from my own cd's i've uploaded.  But can't seem to transfer my Ipod to my Itunes.  Help!

    Can anybody help me?
I had a computer crash that I had my Ipod synced with.  So I lost like 10,000 songs.  The problem is, my ipod is full of songs that i no longer have synce on Itunes.
I'm trying to transfer my songs from my ipod to itunes.  But it won't let me transfer.  I have also tried to "copy" the music files from my ipod to my desk top.  I may have done something wrong there, cause the music file did transfer to my computer at home, but when i try to copy to a different computer, when i look at the ipod (as an external drive) it doesn't show as being there. But my music is still there.
I don't want to loose the music i have on my ipod now.

  • Old computer crashed - songs on iPod only - - HELP!

My old computer crashed, luckily I had recently synched the iPod so I have all my sonds. Now is there a way for me to load them from the iPod to the new computer? Don't want to risk just plugging it in for fear that in syncing it will put the blank iTunes library the computer has in place of the iPod songs.....
I'm sure this is easy to fix, but can't figure it out on my own...thanks.

My suggested fix: download a shareware called Podutil - it downloads quickly. It may have a couple of pop-up's asking for $15, but other than that it has been fantastic. There are others but I tried this one and it was easy to follow. Hopefully you won't have to use it more than once. (Maybe back up library to DVD's (1,000 songs per DVD) or other method of backing up your songs. Once downloaded - plug in iPod, double click PodUtil to open and you will see all of your songs and playlists as listed on your iPod. Check the boxes that you want to download and where you want them to be stored on your computer hard drive. If you want to test it --- just check a few songs, and see if it works for you. Hope that helps....

  • Deleting songs on ipod that playlist no longer exist in itunes

I share the itunes with my son and we use to use the auto sync function. I figured out how to manually sync but deleted my original play list some how in between. Now I have playlist on my ipod that is not in itunes. I can drop song into my play list but I cannot figure out how to delete the song no longer wanted on my ipod since I no longer have playlist in itunes....please help.

If you are updating manually, connect your iPod and when it shows in the iTunes 7 source list click on the chevron (the little triangle) to the left of the iPod icon This will display the various icons for the iPod itself, Music, Movies, TV Shows and Playlists. Click on Music and you'll see the traditional song view. Find the files on your iPod that you want to remove, highlight them and either press the delete key on your keyboard or or right click and choose Delete.

  • I have a new ipod that I would like to share my itunes library with. Is this possible?

Can someone help me and give me an idea as to whether or not is possible to have multiple Ipods and a shuffle share the same Itunes library on the same computer.  I attempted to drag the music on my itunes to another IPOD and it will not allow it.  Please help.  Thank you.

Just plug the iPod in and open iTunes. It will the iPod will show in the devices section of the iTunes sidebar. Click on the iPod go to the summary tab and set you syncing options. You can do this for as many iPods/iPhones/iPads as you like.

  • HT204266 There are some apps that I have on my Ipod that I would like to put onto my Ipad2. I searched the app store for them but the search came back with no results. Why???

If an app is available for an Ipod touch shouldn't it be available for an Ipad2?

There are some apps that are device specific....ipad only, iPhone only, etc
Go to your purchased tab in iTunes, and then look at the top and you should see 'iPad apps' 'iPod apps' etc. Look around in there and see if you can find your apps to download onto your iPad.

    See:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
Basically you will have to transfer its contents to the new computer and then restore the iPod and then resync. An iPod can only sync to one iTunes library.
BTW you posted in the iPod touch forum.

I have many CD's that I would like to download on my iPod. How do I do this??

If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing and follow the instructions.

  • HT1351 I have an IPOD that has not been synced to Itunes for several years. I no longer have the same computer or e-mail address.  How can I sync my old IPOD material to my new itunes account?

I have an older IPOD that has not been synced to Itunes for seceral yeras. I no longer have the same computer or e-mail address. How can I sync my old IPOD material to my new Itunes account?

Your email address (used as your Apple ID) does not matter, because iPods are not directly linked to a particular Apple ID.
NOTE:  You can still use your old Apple ID, even if your that email address is no longer valid.  As long as you remember your Apple ID password.  Go here and click on Manage your Apple ID.
    https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
You can change the primary email address used by Apple, although the Apple ID remains the same.
Back to the iPod.  iTunes syncing is generally in one direction only, from the computer's iTunes library to the iPod.  You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your new iTunes library.  After confirming everything is there, sync your iPod to that library.  If there is any content purchased from the iTunes Store that uses DRM (copy protection), such as audiobooks, videos, and very old song purchases, iTunes may prompt you to authorize your computer with your Apple ID (the one you used to make the purchases).

Had to restore my computer and now have music on the iPad that I would like to transfer back to the computer. How do I do this? (Operating system is Windows Vista)

This depends, if the music was purchased on the iTunes store you can transfer purchases. If it was not then you would need a 3rd party program in order to rip these files to the computer.

If you have a Mac OS 8.x or 9.x CD (depending on the iMac model), look for a Drive Setup utility somewhere on that disc. Boot from the CD while holding down the C key. Initialise the hard disk with a 'Zero all data' option chosen.
