Computer Crashes after 1.1.1 update??

Has anyones computer crashed after update???
heres wat happen to me!
First i got errors -48. Called Apple had to create new user account to on my computer to work around it. then logged back in to my user account and got error -50 that said unable to sync!
I go to restart my computer hoping that would fix it. It wont restart!!! I push the power button and it makes the little sound and u hear the disc drive then the screen turns gray and stays gray and doesnt do anything else!!!
Whats going on!!!

Well the first thing I thought of was device driver problems, and there is a lot of that being reported here, although I've never seen it reported on a MAC system. I would still say though that it has something to do with your system setup, exactly what unknown, you'd have to troubleshoot that yourself, sorry, but it could be lots of things and you would know your system better than anyone else. I can tell you one thing though, I use my iPhone on my MAC, Vista 32b, and XP PRO with no problems at all. So it's got to be something inherent in your system. USB ports can be flakey on MAC's as well as windows systems, so the first thing I would do is unplug all existing USB devices, accept keyboard/mouse, and try to proceed from there.
I would also try to ignore the idiots that only want to post things like OOOooopppsss.

  • Desktop computer crashes after sleep mode since upgrade to Snow Leopard

Since I upgraded my power Mac to Snow Leopard in December, I've had nothing but problems, all of which appear to stem from when it comes out of sleep mode. This computer and all applications were rock solid in Leopard! I also have a mac book running identical programs and that IS rock solid on Snow Leopard. I have a 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon processor with 10 GB ram.
I did a complete re-install of SL and all programs as per the Apple instructions.
Basically, the computer crashes after sleep mode. I've tried all the fixes I've read on the net. Here is the report thread from the last crash. Does it mean anything or throw any light on the problem to anyone?
    Thanks,
    David Wright

The problem has been identified as the RME fireface400 audio driver. I've spent some considerable time experimenting to identify the culprit. It's clear that this is what is causing all my problems since Snow Leopard. Whether it's exclusively the drivers fault or partly also due to a conflict with apple SL, I don't know, but I have crash reports if apple want to see them.
From your first post, it appears you are using Fireface audio driver version 2.64. RME released a new Snow Leopard compatible driver (version 2.65) last December. It is available at RME: Downloads. (There is also a firmware updater for the Fireface 400 there, which you might want to check out.)
It isn't at all unusual for a new OS version to require new drivers for third party hardware. References to this can be found all over the web, in "read me" files & other documentation, etc. -- it doesn't just apply to OS X but to Windows & other OS's as well. (One of the biggest problems with Vista was poor third party driver support.) In fact, the X-Lab "Resolving Kernel Panics" article specifically cautions users to make sure all such drivers are current. See section 6.1 of that article for more details.
I don't know if you missed all this somehow, but if you haven't already downloaded & installed the new RME driver (& possibly the firmware update as well), then do so now. While you are at it, check for other similar updates for any other third party hardware devices you use, using the info in section 6.1 of the X-Lab article as a guide.
Hopefully, this will resolve your issue, which (as already mentioned) is kernel panics, not crashes. If you still have problems, post more about them, being mindful of the difference between application crashes & kernel panics. Because they are fundamentally different, they have different cures, so we will need to know which type they are to offer effective help.

  • My iPhoto keeps crashing after installing the latest update, can't do anything!

My iPhoto keeps crashing after installing the latest update, can't do anything! It used to crash when importing but now I'm at the point where I open the software and after 2 seconds it crashes (nothing connected either). What to do? Can't access any photos

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If you can create a new library and import some test photos then the problem lies with your original library.
If that's the case make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If iPhoto crashes while trying to create a new library then try this:
Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
If that fails to help a reinstall of iPhoto is indicated. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iPhoto from the disk it came on originally and apply all relavant updaters.
P.S.  If you're still running Tiger, 10.4.6, then the above may not apply.  If you're running a newer system you should update your profile so we have a better idea of where you're at.

My computer crashed after an attempt to upgrade to Yosemite. I can't quit the installer and my MacBook keeps on restarting

I Have a 2008 Macbook Pro 15". It was running issue free until I upgraded to Yosemite. Now my logic board is fried and apple will not fix it. It started with mail accounts unable to send mail, just had to delete accounts and re- install to fix that. But, at the same time as the download, I started intermittently getting a green tint over the screen along with a snowy static like an old TV set. Fearing that my download was corrupt, I re- installed Yosemite over-writing the previous version .  The green haze kept coming and going, but I also started getting strobe style white flashes in boxes in the 4 corners of my monitor. I had to do power button forced shutdowns because of pointer and keyboard function failure. Apple Genius desk told me it appeared to be a logic board failure but my computer was too old for them to work onand referred me to a Mac Specialist Center. I was told by both places that Apple installed defective logic boards back then due to changing solder formula. They extended product warranty by adding 1 yr but that still expired in 2012. I tried to post a warning on Mac Forums twice about Yosemite being a poison pill to certain platforms and my posts were pulled. The second attempt was responded to in my personal email account stating that if I don't stop posting derogatory comments, I will be blocked from forum. I am just trying to insert warnings in posts where I can. They haven't discovered that yet. Spread the word!

  • Crashing after 9.1.1 Update

iphoto has crashed on me twice since 9.1.1 update. Hadn't experienced any issues with it before 9.1.1 update ( well , apart from being a bit slow when moving between images after edit, but no crashes). Both times crashed after adjusting Canon raw images, which wasn't a problem before update. Using 2010 core i5 iMac.
Anyone else experiencing crashes after 9.1.1 update ?

After not having any issues at first.. my 9.1.1 iphoto is now crashing after 10-15 seconds when starting up. From the crash log I can see its the face detection thread thats dying.. I'd be happy to disable it to be able to access my library again.. but can't find anything online on how to do that.
I tried using library manager.. to create a new library.. which worked fine at first.. until it presumable got to the same photo/face detection place and now that crashes just the same as before the whole rebuild exercise..
I can't see from crash log which file its processing.. any ideas how I could tell that ? Adding files one by one is not an option ( there are many thousands )

  • 4G iPod touch KEEPS CRASHING AFTER 6.1.3 UPDATE

Okay, so I live in an area with rural internet. Because of this I have only just downloaded the 6.1.3 iOS update this week for my 4G iPod touch. I have only just discovered how bad an idea that was.
Safari crashes every half-minute, the iPod is now INCREDIBLY slow, Twitter, YouTube and almost every app I have keeps crashing after a minute or so...
I have gone over all the 'fixes' that google has presented to me.
Clearing the multitasking bar doesn't change jack and I can't roll back my iPod to the backup on iTunes because I just got a new computer. And the first thing I did was move all my music over and SYNC THE IPOD AFTER IT HAD BEEN UPDATED.
So what am I supposed to do? My iPod is USELESS to me now as an internet-capable device OR music player, and no matter where I look the only help anyone can offer is "Apple doesn't support downgrading"???
So Apple updates the OS with a faulty patch and I have to deal with the failure?
Is there anyone who can actually HELP me? What do I do? Jailbreak the **** thing? I've never jailbroken anything before, but surely it can't render my iPod any more useless than it already is! It's not like the thing is covered under warranty anymore! (Really convinient, that...)
Can some please help me get my iPod WORKING again?! I paid $300 dollars for a music player with internet access, not a paperweight!
Either way, I'm officially done with Apple devices after this nonsense. I hear Galaxy Tabs actually work! Imagine!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Everything crashes after 10.9.4 update

MS Office crashes, all web browsers crash, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign crash, Finder crashes. I don't even know what doesn't crash anymore because even when I just turn on the thing and haven't done anything yet it crashes. Luckily I ran Bootcamp so I can still work on Windows (which still run smoothly, thanks God). I'm so frustrated I want to dump my MBP for a Dell now. Before that everything worked fine on 10.9.3. I didn't have any problems while updating, I don't understand why it turns out like this.
    Please help,

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.4 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update (Combo).
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.4 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update (Combo).

  • ISync crashes After 10.4.4 update

Everytime iSync is opened and you push the sync button you get the spinning beachball cursor and then iSync crashes. The bluetooth connection between the address book and the phone work fine, as well as the connection between salling clicker and the phone (it's a 6600 btw.). iSync started crashing after the 10.4.4 update that was release just a few days ago. iSync preferences were trashed and computer restarted. I started from scratch and repaired the phone as well as paring and trying to sync on a user that never gets touched.
Anyone having the same problem or know a solution?

Flip4Mac works fine with various iApps. You do not have to remove it. There is a conflict between 3rd party Quicktime Components 3ivx and Divx and Flip4Mac. Just put the ones you're not using on the desktop and everything works fine. Swapp them by hand as needed.
    Everybody,
    Surprise, surprise.
I have figured it out (at least for my machine)
I remembered that since the last time I used iSync I
had done 2 things to my system: Installed 10.4.4 and
also installed the new Flip4Mac windows media codecs.
Well, since redoing iSync did not help, I decided to
try and remove Flip4Mac and what do you think? iSync
started working and keeps chuging like a charm.
So, if you have Flip4Mac remove it and it should work.

  • Photoshop CS2 crashes after Colormunki (X-Rite) update 1.1.1

I have resolved this issue through the x-rite tech support (who called me back within 4 hours) but since I posted it on a different thread I wanted to share my experience.
I am using cs2 with snow leopard (10.6.1) on a mac book pro 2,2 and immeditately after updating to colormunki photo 1.1.1, cs2 began crashing after "save as" and not saving with "too many windows open" messages.  It was also not able to save to preferences even if no image was opened.  Right after installing the update, I received a message that cs2 would have to be reinstalled, but I wasn't been able to get that message back.  I did actually reinstall cs2, but the problem persisted.  X-rite tech support told me to repair permissions and the problem has gone away.

CS2 is not supported in 10.6.x If you had it running at some point you were lucky. Keep in mind you are running in Rosetta since CS2 is not Intel native. Do yourself a favor and get CS4

  • Safari slow-launch, crashing after 3.2.1 update

After installing the new update (3.2.1) for Safari yesterday, the application has difficulty launching. The icon bounces in the dock for a long period of time (sometimes 2 minutes) before the application finally opens or crashes or I force-quit. I have repaired permissions, restarted, moved/deleted the history.plist and the historyindex.plist
I'm running on a Macbook, OS X.5.5. I do not have any third-party hacks/add-ons, and I do not have a wireless mouse or keyboard.
    Here is the crash report:

There's much more to the report than this; this is all that would fit. If there's something specific I should include, tell me and I'll add it. Also, the optical drive tries to eject each time I force-quit Safari.
Any help would be AMAZING. Thanks in advance!

Why has Apple done absolutely nothing to correct the Safari crashing/hanging problem? I have always loved my Mac computers. We have 3 in my home now, but if they continue to do nothing to resolve this problem, I may jump ship. If they are release something so lousy, they might as well work for Dell instead of ruining Apple's good name.
I--we shouldn't have to keep deleting files and such weeks after they release such shoddy software. Their is a reason we mac addicts pay more for Mac products. We think they are superior to other computers, but they are going to quickly go the way of the U.S car makers if this continues.
I'm sure this will be deleted immediately. Shouldn't they be focusing on correcting the software problems, rather than silencing those who complain, and having the buyer of their product putting bandaids on their browser?

  • My friends computer crashed after installing itunes??

Hello, my friend got a new nano for x-mas, but after downloading itunes her computer crashed and it now can't start.
Its a quite new laptop which had up to date virus protection.
So has anyone com across this problem.. and is there a simple solution apart from re-installing the drivers??

Does the computer meet the minimum system requirements?

  • Adobe Flash crashes after 9/7/14 update.

I updated Adobe Flash a few days ago (9/7 if I'm correct)  and since that time Adobe Flash frequently stops operating and crashes constantly in Firefox (about 15 times according to my crash report function) -- showing a dialogue screen that says it has stopped operating and querying if I want to continue using the plug in or stop it.
(I specifically have Flash set on manual download  to figure these kinds of things out because the last time something like this happened after an Adobe update the audio shut off on Youtube -- and it was an Adobe problem.)
The Firefox forum has a long thread on this current problem.. trying to figure out if it's Firefox -- .but I suspect it may be Adobe (as it was in the Youtube case.)  May I recommend that Adobe install a "feedback" site for crashes after updates so that you can find these faster -- if indeed they are Adobe issues?  The Youtube problem took almost two weeks to fix and I think it was because you didn't know.
Thanks..   If you have another answer that would be great -- in the mean time I'll keep using Chrome until I get an answer...
p.s. I have already disabled protect mode and hardware acceleration in Firefox to see if that helps.  It doesn't.

Thank you Jeromie -- I will update...
Here are four most recent crash reports -- with oldest first  -- There are about 15 of them and it takes about a minute to get each of them -- I don't have time to retrieve and copy all of them right now...if you want more let me know and I'll do them this evening.  p.s. why does the report say 'bp' automatically after I've retrieved it?  Just curious...
