Computer crashes and sound loops while playing a game
My problem is similar some others i have seen in this forum and others. I have been struggling with this issues since i made the computer. The problem is while playing counter-strike after around 30 min to 2 hours the screen freezes and the sound loops and then the monitor turns off and the computer restarts. I have made possible attempts to fix the problem starting with buying a thermal take volcana for my cpu and a artic cooler for my video card. I also have my cpu underclocked from a 3200 to a 2500 i found that helps delay the problem a bit(i think anyway). I have 4 fans in my case also. I also thought it might be the onboard sound so i bought a logitec usp headset but that didn't fix the problem so i recently bought a sound blaster live 5.1 ls. I have also switch powersupplys though both were around 350-400 watts.
Any help or feedback it greatly appreciated.

Athlon 3200+(underclocked to 2500)
Soundblaster Live 5.1 ls
1 stick of 512 mb Ultra
350 watts not sure of the company came with the X-Dreamer II case

Qosmio X305-Q701 - Black Screen and sound loop while gaming
Hi,
My Qosmio X305-Q701 has recently started crashing while playing any games. Never had a problem out of it until the past month. All games now from WoW and F.E.A.R. to solitare. It will just randomly go to a black screen and the last sound byte while loop over and over requiring a hard reboot.
Graphics card is Nvidia geforce 9700m gts series.
All drivers and directx is up to date running windows vista. I am not very tech savy so any help or expierence with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.I have the exacrt same issues, and have had them for some time. I tried all the software solutions, and mechanical solutions that I could perform myself ( cleaning the airflow vents, and cooling fan ) Nothing has worked. Sad thing is, no real solutions are ever given to this, so let me lay it down like this. The video card is a P.O.S. and is at fault. Only way to fix it is to replace it. Preferably with one equivelant, but from a different manufacturer. In all honesty, this is the worst computer I've ever owned. Even sadder is its the most expensive one I've ever bought. I've tried for help through the place I bought it ( Best Buy, which I am having my own difficulties dealing with ) and Toshiba support as well. No one has offered an explanation as to why this model isn't recalled, and or replaced because its a lemon. Good luck in getting it fixed. My own solution is to cut my losses, get a new computer ( which will never be a Toshiba again ) and chalk it up as lesson learned.

Freeze on blank screen with sound loop when playing steam games

Playing games on steam*, at some point, sometimes 5 minutes in, sometimes 2 hours in:
- Screen goes blank,
- last sound loops continuously,

- updating steam and OS X
- closing all apps besides steam
- disabling Vsync in the games
- running games in very low quality
- updating to latest flash beta (steam uses flash for in-app advertising)
- reinstall steam and redownload and reinstall games
- verify and repair disk within OS
- SMART check, RAM test, Video memory test with TechTool Pro, all Pass
- removing peripherals ie. Microsoft bluetooth mouse
- hardware test with OS X install DVD on reboot, detects no problems
- stressing the GPU doing intensive 3D effects in Adobe After Effects, no crash
- stressing GPU using CINEBENCH, no crash
- monitoring temp with Temperature Monitor, Last crash GPU was at around 80 and CPU at around 85

- Machine is still under 1 yr warranty
- I'm overseas studying design and I really cant afford to to take it in and not have a machine for 2 weeks. I'd really like to exhaust all options before taking it in. I'm also worrying that they will run the hardware test as I did and tell me: no problems found.I'm so ****** off that it's been weeks and no solution has been provided for this. In the middle of video editing, watching quicktime videos, youtube, or playing any games the computer hard freezes with a black screen and looping audio of about 1/2 second.

xI realise there have been a number of threads like this now that I have started looking, the problem is the back-ups i made were saved to a server network which has now also gone down, a case of dreadful luck really. Is there any other way to get the music back?

I have m4v files that have subtitles and sound options they play fine on my computer in itunes and but when i watch them on my apple tv there is video but no sound ... why ? all my other videos are fine and they in mp4 format.
Mov is a container format, you'd need to look at the codec used by the movie file inside the container to know whether it will work with the Apple TV or not.

i have a 27inch mac and recently upgraded to operatiing system 10.09. i game d3 and while playing the game it freezes sometimes and then shuts down the computer and restarts for no reason. sometimes with minutes, other times its after many hours. Any ideas would be appreciated.

my computer crashed and i had to reinstall intunes. i have 1144 songs plus some playlists on my old 60g ipod. my itunes library on my computer only has the songs that i purchased from itunes and none of playlists. how do i get this content form my ipod back onto my itunes program on my computer.

I remember reading something here about people having trouble with their systems locking up and then getting a loud static noise then a sound loop when playing games.
I am getting this about 2-3 times a night now and it is driving me nuts, I do not have temp problems of any sort and I have all of the latest drivers for everything on my system.
Any ideas?

Who do I stop the freezing hang-up or crashing,it happens daily while playing in FB.
In the last few weeks firefox keeps freezing, hanging up or crashing on me mostly while playing on FB. It will not let me close the page or get out of firefox. After I get it to close & I try to restart it ,it can take anywhere from 2-10 min. before it will reload. Ever at times; when I start up the computer, it can take 10/15min after I try to open firefox, for it to show up. I got a message the other day saying," skype was a malware & creating the problem" should I uninstall skype & reinstall it ? frankly I'm getting pretty much ticked off with this problem, & the meassage from firefox saying"well, this is embarassing" is not helping

I just got a new iPod Nano for Christmas and I need to transfer the music from my old one to my new one but I can't figure out how to do this because my iTunes does not have the music that my old one does.

my computer crashed and I had to re load my operation system. now, when I try to open my itunes all I get is a message that says "can not be read because itunes was created by a newer version" what does that mean and how do I correct it. I need my music back!
As iTunes is uopgraded the newer versions require that the iTunes database be upgraded to match. It sounds like you now have an older version of the sftware attempting to load an upgraded library which it can't do.
What version of OS X are you running?
What version of iTunes are you currently running?
What versions were you running when your system crashed?

If ALL your music is on the iPod and it's ALL iTunes purchased content, you log into iTunes with your account on th enew machine and reverse sycn the music back.

Recovery options:
A: If Windows isn't booting:
You need to boot the computer from a "recovery disk or USB" that has a operating system on it and a graphical user interface to transfer files from your boot drive to a external drive.
I suggest using the Easy USB Installer to install Ubuntu 10.10 onto a 2-4 GB USB key.

burn a ISO of Ubuntu 10.10 or PartedMagic to a cd-r with ImgBurn or Win 7 right click and burn
You can use Disk Utility in OS X to select the ISO and burn to cd/dvd as well.
Once you have it installed, consult this page for your BIOS boot key to hold to get into the BIOS.

Plug the USB into the back (if possible) of the computer, connect the external drive and enter the BIOS, set the USB (or CD) as first boot and SAVE.
Boot off the USB/CD and "Try Ubuntu/Run from disk" DON'T INSTALL. (Parted Magic loads into RAM and ejects CD)
Once in, go under the menu Places > Computer and transfer your files to the external drive just like you would in Windows, drag and drop.
(If using Parted Magic double click on the Mount Drive left icon twice, use the two GUI windows to transfer files to external drive, unmount drives, log out/quit in the lower left corner menu option)
B: If the computer hardware isn't working, but the drive might still work:
You'll have to remove the power cord and manually extract the hard drive. This might result in some damage.
There is a powered IDE/SATA to USB adapter for sale online for $20 that you can take that internal hard drive and use it like a external drive to access your files from another Windows machine.
C: If your iTunes content is deleted...
It might be recoverable if it hasn't been overwritten yet by fresh data. Undelete software works by reading the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, not what the OS says.
You need to use undelete software pre-installed before the iTunes content was deleted, or while on a bootable cd/USB and a external drive to transfer the recovered files.
You can also install undelete type software on a new machine and USE STEP B above to "undelete" the files and recover them directly to the new computer.
You can't install undelete software or recover files to the same drive your attempting to recover from or it overwrites the deleted data.
D: If the hard drive doesn't work and...
The data isn't worth spending $2000-$3000 in a ATTEMPT at platter dissection recovery, then your finished
If the data on the drive was encrypted, data recovery efforts may be futile, unless it's a encypted file and you transfer it successfuly and have the password to de-crypt it.
E: If you have a "iDevice" with any content
It can be synced back into iTunes, check at iLounge what third party software works reliably now and for your version.
(Once you log into your iTunes account, you can sync ONLY iTunes purchased content back from a iDevice)
Third party software can recover just about all the items on a iDevice, regardless of it's origin. (can't recommend such software here)
F: If any of the above is too hard, or the data is of "critical importance"
Then seek professional computer or forensic level recovery services.
Get help from someone who has done this sort of thing repeatly and can almost guaranty 100% results.
There is Linux software that can "rip" all data off a iOS device if that level of attention is needed, seek a professional service.
Hope this helps in your data recovery efforts.
Please, backup your data, it's the only thing us IT professionals can't recover. -

Depending upon which store you use you may be able to recover some of your past purchases. See HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.
Go the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked. (This should reduce the risk of corrupt downloads.)
For the future backup your library regularly with this User Tip.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone. Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos,etc) , your contacts and your calendars. So do NOT sync yet. This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data. Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync. They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup.
