Computer Crashes Upon Sound Blaster Installat

I have installed the Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum EX on other systems with no problems but after installing on my new HP Pavillion PC Model a50n, the computer crashes at startup. I have disabled and removed the OEM sound cards and modem as well as diabled the Onboard Audio but still no luck. I have also un-installed and re-installed the sound card itself 'til I'm blue in the face and nothing.
I'm at my wits end...what could be the @#!$%! problem?!!! I'm running an up-to-date OS of Windows XP.
Thanks for any advice. Jayski45

  • Computer crashes and sound loops while playing a game

My problem is similar some others i have seen in this forum and others. I have been struggling with this issues since i made the computer.  The problem is while playing counter-strike after around 30 min to 2 hours the screen freezes and the sound loops and then the monitor turns off and the computer restarts.  I have made possible attempts to fix the problem starting with buying a thermal take volcana for my cpu and a artic cooler for my video card.  I also have my cpu underclocked  from a 3200 to a 2500 i found that helps delay the problem a bit(i think anyway).  I have 4 fans in my case also.  I also thought it might be the onboard sound so i bought a logitec usp headset but that didn't fix the problem so i recently bought a sound blaster live 5.1 ls. I have also switch powersupplys though both were around 350-400 watts.
Any help or feedback it greatly appreciated.
    my specs are:

  • New computer crashes upon start-up

Bear with me as I am not all that computer literate.........I have a new, as in barely two week old, laptop Toshiba A500-ST5601 that started crashing on start-up 4 days ago.  I get a blue screen that says "DRIVER.IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"  I did a search on here and found a message that asked for certain error info and I searched my event viewer and found this info just from todays event.  Any help to resolve the issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • Computer Crash upon turning on

    Dear Help
Can someone help me with my problem? My Power Mac G5 keeps shutting down when I try to turn it on. There are time when it will take me a dozen time before I am able to keep it on. It seems to say on after it warm up , but after a half hour the fan get louder and I shut it off. It started about a month ago and has gotten worst
Please anyone with this problem let me know what to do.
    Thank you
    Wu Wei 18

I would start by doing the following:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • MIDI on Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMu

I'm trying to connect an external MIDI device to my computer via my Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card. It doesn't have a MIDI IN port. Do I need to buy the I/O console or I/O dri've to do this? If so, do these connect to the 26-pin input? Or is there a cable that can connect MIDI to this port without the need to buy a separate piece of hardware? Thanks in advance for any assistance!

You may be able to prepare a MIDI I/O and connect it to AD_EXT connector found on card board but it's much easier to buy a 30-40$ USB MIDI Interface (or a I/O Dri've intend for your card). Here are some USB MIDI Interfaces I would suggest: M-Audio Uno or MidiSport (there are many cheaper ones available too like T-Box USB to MIDI Interface). Here are some more listed.

  • Problems With Sound Blaster Audigy: New Sys

I just received my new computer from Dell:
    Pentium D 3.0ghz
    Geforce 7800 GTX 256mb
    2 GIGs ram
    Windows Xp Prof x64
    SoundBlaster Audigy
My problem occurs in my game called Nascar Racing 2003 Season. The sounds play fine, however when It comes time to load more 3dimensional sounds (like cockpit), the sounds turn into a high pitched buzz, and then freezes my computer so that not even ctl-alt-del works. Sometimes this happens when exiting the game as well, and my system does a complete memory dump and then shows this file: ctoss2k.sys..
I've reinstalled the drivers, the game, and I'm out of ideas. I don't have any other games to test this one, but I've run the Dell diagnostics and run the dxdiag for the sound and it passed with flying colors. If nothing can be done here my next idea is getting on the phone with Dell and having them fix my new computer!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Computer Crashes with Creative Labs Sound Blaster 5.1 Live Card

Several weeks ago when I booted up my computer a msg apeared saying new device found(the sound blaster card mentioned in the title) even tough it had worked for months beofre then and even the night b4. Shortly after I get a beep from the mother board and the computer crashes several seconds after start up.
I thought maybe their could be some conflicting driver issues or something so I checked the BIOS and it said the onboard sound was disabled. Restarting the computer several times it kept crashing. I removed the card, booted up the computer and everything worked fine (except the sound) and it did not crash. I tried putting the card in the other PCI slots thinking that was the problem but it crashed each time.
Right now the card it ploped on the desk and I have the Creative 5. speakers running off the onboard card on my Is7-E mobo but the sound is **bleep**ty as hell and the speakers are ligned up corectly and I am having all sorts of trouble with that. I am getting basic sound though. I havnt had time to pursue the matter untill now. Do you guys think the card for some reason is damaged or Its an issue on my computer Crashing it's
    Thanks,
    -Mark

Heh, srry about using the S word. Ah, I whiped all the audio drivers etc...from the guid in that link. I poped the card in, booted up the computer...alas it still crashed. So now I have to get my temp sound working again. Is their anyway to tell if a compenent is phsicly dmged? I can not be shure if this is a software issue(which I dont think it is because I followed your whipe guid) or a hardware issue. I dont understand what could of hapened to it, it simply stoped working. Im not shure why my computer crashes at start up as mentioned above and doent simply not work. Any more thoughts would be great.

  • MainStage crashes upon launch after moving sounds to external drive

I had been advised to put all my softsynth sounds (Omnisphere, Ivory, Sonik Synth, Sample Tank) on an EXTERNAL drive to free up my computer's CPU and hard disk. I discarded the sounds from my computer and put them on an external Rockstor Firewire 800 drive. Now, Main Stage crashes upon launch. Can anyone help me?

Try building a Concert from scratch, using your external drive sounds. It could be that your instruments can't find their prior samples (wrong paths), but you would hopefully get an error message for that. That would be my #1 suspect.
Is your drive a fast one, properly installed, any current drivers, etc, and have you had a similar problem with other file intensive applications (audio, video, etc) since moving files? If your drive or bus is too slow to provide the required bits, this would also be suspect.

Everything seems to be OK so it's propably the drivers for your modem that is causing the issue. Just try if updating them helps anything.
Also, you can turn the MPU-40 (onboard MIDI/Game port) if you dont need it.

  • SB04100 Sound Blaster Card not working after computer rebuild

=SB0400 Sound Blaster Card not working after computer rebuildZ I did a full disk format and reinstall for a friend on a Dimension 3000, running XP SP3. There is no sound at all. Speakers are good, tested on another system. Model number on the back of the sound card is SB0400, so I assume this is an older 24 bit PCI SoundBlaster card. Although I reinstalled all drivers from Dell, I found no drivers for this. The Creative site has no listing for this model.
Computer does not seem to recognize the card. Have not opened the box yet but I assume if I were to remove and then reinstall the card it would be recognized (?) I then have to find an SB0400 driver.
Does anyone know where I can find an SB0400 driver ? Does the strategy of pulling and reinstalling the card make sense ? (I have really avoided tampering with any of the hardware on this box -- since it is not mine.)

Re: SB0400 Sound Blaster Card not working after computer rebuild? Thanks much for your response. Problem solved for now. I removed the board and then reinserted it, after which I was able to download the drivers directly. Some of my difficulty with this whole process has been ) I didn't know there was no working speaker in the computer and 2) I apparently misunderstood the BIOS settings for this. I re-set it up as an add-on board during the troubleshooting process. After loading the driver, I went back to the original setting (don't recall what it was but it was for integrated sound). The setting for integrated sound works fine, with external speakers and the new 24 bit driver. Still some noise (popping and static) but this board shares the bus with 2 other cards one of which is a wireless network card. May be a PCI latency issue but I'm reluctant to change that because the network card is a bit shaky anyway.
Everything works for now -- I'll be glad to get this particular computer out of my house !

  • Solution who encounter 'Setup does not detect Sound Blaster .....' error msg during installat

For those who encounter 'Setup does not detect sound blaster audio in the system' error upon installing from the installation CD. You can try the steps below that work for me. It seems Windows have lock on to the sound card with an incorrect ID thus the installation CD are not able to correctly identify the card. Be sure to do a backup copy of the registry first incase something goes wrong since we are editing the registry.
. Go to Start-Run and type in 'regedit' to start the registry editor application.
    2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\P CI.
    3. You should see listing with 'VEN....'. Expand them by clicking on the + icon and then see if it's listed as unknown or Creative related stuff. Keep note of them.
    4. Right click on those 'VEN......' listing that you have noted earlier and select full permission. Ensure that full control are selected. Now delete all those listed as unknown or Creative related stuff.
    5. Exit registry editor and reboot. Try using the installation CD again.
    Hope it hel
    ps.

  • How to use 5.1 computer speakers with PS3 via Sound Blast

    Hi,
i dont have the money to buy a second set of surround sound speakers to use with my PS3. I already have a set of Creative 5. surround computer speakers that connect via 3.5mm jacks into my sound card, there is no optical port on the speakers.
Is there a way to use these speakers with the PS3 as well. I was thinking along the lines of could i buy a new Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme audio card which has an optical-in socket and connect my PS3 to the sound card via optical cable, and use the new Sound Blaster as an amp to redirect the sound to the computer speakers back out along the sound cards 3.5mm jack connections.
I have no idea if this would work or not so before i buy the new sound card i could anybody confirm or deny whether this works. And if not any suggestions?
Thanks alot, i appreciate any help.

thanks again but perhaps i didnt explain clearly enough. I dont want to have simultaneous optical input and output, other wise there wouldnt be a problem. The speakers i have are 5. computer speakers. The computer is connected to them via 3*3.5mm jacks from the sound card to the sub, the other sattelite speakers are connected by audio rca to the sub. My speakers have no optical-in on them, hence having to to re-route the sound through a sound card (if it would work). Essentialy using the sound card as an amp or as a big optical to 3*3.5mm jack adaptor.
