Computer crashes when trying to burn a cd in itunes
I have read many threads on this error 4280 but mine seems a little different. Every time I try and burn a cd from songs in my library something bad happens. I have had my computer crash several times. One time it crashed and then went into a scandisc mode. Once it crashed and then when my computer restarted everything that was supposed to load at startup had errors and wouldn't load. Yesterday, I tried to burn a cd again. This time I used only music that I had ripped from my own cd's through itunes. I have authorized my computer yet it said it wouldn't burn any of them because none of the songs were authorized? They are my songs, from my cd's! A few weeks ago I tried the same thing and it wouldn't burn the tracks because it said 2 of the tracks weren't authorized. Again, they were all ripped from my cd collection, not downloaded. I decided to restart my computer and try again. Same problem but this time it selected 2 different songs as the ones that weren't authorized. I am having serious issues with itunes crashing my computer. Anyone else have problems like this? I am using itunes 7.6?
Thanks,

My computer crashes when trying to sync ipod touch...HELP!
My whole computer crashes without warning - just powers off, usually when I am transferring a CD into iTunes. But, it will do it at other times as well. If there is an error message - I do not see it as it happens too fast. I just downloaded iTunes last week and started having this problem right away. Any solutions yet? I have the 80gb iPods, although this happens whether or not they are connected.

+But, it will do it at other times as well. If there is an error message - I do not see it as it happens too fast.+
We'd better check for a hidden blue screen, then.
1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
Now try to provoke another crash.
With those settings in place, does a blue screen appear before the PC reboots?
If so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x\[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
If the blue screen mentions a specific file (for example, “ati3duag.dll”), let us know what that is called too. (Exact spelling, please.)
Here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:

Computer crashing when trying to render
My computer is crashing when I try to render. I have plenty of memory. I may have conflicts with other loaded programs but do not know what ones. Any ideas?
Steve,
Thank you for that clarification.
In that case, I would look at the second link down in that article, "Finding Clues," as it talks about using Event Viewer, to start troubleshooting the System, or Applications. There might be some useful clues on what is happening, when the program quits. For ALL warning, or error messages that have links, please follow those.
Also, do you get any Windows error messages, and if so, what are they?
I would also gather up your computer's information, the info on your Source Files, plus the details of your Project's settings, and post those, to give folk here material to help you troubleshoot the program.
I am glad that you are not getting a BSOD, but that article does have some other, useful troubleshooting tips in the links.
Good luck, and there will likely be a few more questions.

Computer crashes when trying to awake from sleep mode
Hi, the last few days when I'm trying to awake my computer from sleep mode I can't do it from the keyboard (as set by me). When I push the power button the computer awakes from an unexpected shutdown.
Looking in the Event Viewer I see it logs the critical Kernel-Power event when the computer awakes from the shutdown.

GilWe do need the actual DMP file as they contain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
We prefer at least 2 DMP files to spot trends and confirm the cause.
Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here
If you have any questions about the procedure please ask
If you are using Blue screen view, who crashed, or a similar application, don't. They are wrong at least as often as they are correct

A stale or corrupt kernel cache
A damaged OS X installation
A fault in a peripheral device, if any
Corrupt non-volatile memory (NVRAM)
An internal hardware fault (including incompatible memory)
An obscure bug in OS X
You may already have ruled out some of these.
Rule out #1 by booting in safe mode and then rebooting as usual. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
You can rule out #2 and #3 by reinstalling the OS and testing with non-essential peripherals disconnected and aftermarket expansion cards removed, if applicable. Sometimes a clean reinstallation may solve a problem that isn't solved by reinstalling in place.
Corrupt NVRAM, which rarely causes panics, can be ruled out by resetting it.
If your model has user-replaceable memory, and you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts. Clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket memory must exactly match the technical specifications for your model.
The Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test.
In the category of obscure bugs, reports suggest that FileVault may trigger kernel traps under some unknown conditions. Most, though not all, of these reports seem to involve booting from an aftermarket SSD. If those conditions apply to you, try deactivating FileVault.
Connecting more than one display is another reported trigger for OS X bugs.
If your system is not fully up to date, running Software Update might get you a bug fix.
In rare cases, a malformed network packet from a defective router or other network device can cause panics. Such packets could also be sent deliberately by a skillful attacker. This possibility is something to consider if you run a public server that might be the target of such an attack.
If none of the above applies, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you know how to restore, and you have at least two independent backups.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed. -
Computer crash when trying to register my software
Hello. I've used Adobe Flash CS3 Professional for about two months now, and every time I've opened the program I've automatically just pressed "Register Later". But today I had to open/close the program many times, and I eventually grew tired of the register screen. At first, I tried the usual "Register Later", but Flash doesn't respond. And it seems I can't close Flash at all after hitting any button. I use Windows Vista when I work with Flash, and to be able to close the program I have to use the task manager and end the process. This means I can't use Flash, which I really have to right now (I'm in class).
I didn't know whether to ask for help on a Flash forum or a Windows Vista forum, because I don't know where the problem lies. But the problem only occur while using Flash.
Edit: OK, I've now managed to fill out the information, press "Register", but I only get this:
Error
Direct access to this page is not allowed. If you have any questions please contact Customer Service by clicking here.
And I'm still not able to close the program without using the task manager.Try here.

Computer crashes when trying to update
every time I use the software updater everything works fine except for 10.5+ up dates anyone know why?
Then, there's either serious corruption in the Installer.app or you have a hardware problem (the usual thing when getting kernel panics, faulty RAM). First, run the Apple Hardware Test program that came with machine, extended tests, at least two times. If everything passes, download and run Rember. If the hardware passes, then reinstall Leopard using the Archive & Install option, saving user and network settings. Since your profile says 10.5, you haven't been able to install any updates.

Hi milopie,
To find out what iOS you are running on the iPad, go to Settings>General>About. About half-way down, you will see a Version number. That is the iOS version.

Remote Desktop Crashes When trying to log-in after changing password on the remote computer
Hi.
I use cisco VPN to connect to my work computer.
I can use RDC to connect to any computer on home network without issue.
Yesterday I changed to password on my work computer and now every time I try to log from my home computer RDC crashes.
I've disabled printing/clipboard on local devices and resourses, and I've deleted all the RDC cache files on the computer but I continue to have the same issues.

I didn’t found relevant settings in remote desktop connection manager, I checked the “Use multiple monitors when necessary” under tools->options, but seems like it is used for span a full screen over multiple monitors. For now I’d suggest figuring out
why your remote session keeps crushing.
I suspect the crash is not related to password changing, similar cases normally occurs after some local device driver, please try to disable the local printer in Remote desktop connection local resources first.

D. Wu

Lightroom 4 crashes when trying to open the slideshow module. I spent over three hours with both Adobe and Apple tech support and we know it is a permission issue but have not been able to get it solved. It started with the last upgrade to 10.8
Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
{ sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -Rh $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2 (optional)
The first step should give you usable permissions in your home folder. This step will restore special attributes set by OS X on some user folders to protect them from unintended deletion or renaming. You can skip this step if you don't consider that protection to be necessary.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
resetpassword
That's one word, all lower case, with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select
▹ Restart
from the menu bar. -

Now i generally only have am administrator account because this is my computer for work (i have my own business and im the only one who uses it) It used to work perfectly and one day it didnt work so good... things in the store were missing like images and text. then one day CRASH. and ever since CRASH.
I created a TEST account and when i logged in and activated Itunes it accessed the store no problem.
Does anyone have a clue?
I have uninstalled an reinstalled my itunes... I have all the latest software updates. Its not the proxy server thing that so many have problems with... i don't have a proxy server....i've created a new location .... its not that... i don't have parental activated... its not that. I have backed up all my music.. uninstalled and reinstalled itunes... i have gone thru the plist thing nothing is working.
why does i tunes work in the test account and not the administrator account?
HELP PLEASE! anyone? I have tried calling apple but they hung up on me twice..:(
this forum is all i have to find a solution.
this is the error log i get when i tunes crashes.. i dont know what it means or how to read this thing.

It also crashes frequently running ad-related JavaScript on a financial newspaper's web site. Stack traces of the crashed thread in the crash logs are what make me think my issue is JavaScript-related. Here's a stack trace from a crashed iTunes:

Resetting all iTunes preferences hasn't fixed this and neither has running on another account on the same computer. My private MacBook Pro is fine. I suspect a corrupt file somewhere (I have repaired permissions). -
Crashing when trying to open a project / forgetting where media files are
I spent all day manually locating hundreds of missing 'offline media' in a project, saving as I went. Premier Elements crashed when this was complete, now I try to open the project after rebooting and it either cannot find them again or crashes when trying to open the project. Anyone got any clues as to how I can fix this?
alex peatfield
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
How long has this issue existed?
Are you moving, deleting, renaming files and folders that go into a project after the project has been saved closed?
If you have source media stored on an external hard drive, determine if the external hard drive is malfunctioning, including if its drive letter
changing.
Lots of drill questions...
a. Running the program from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
b. Latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer?
c. What are your computer resources and is your computer optimized?
d. What are the properties of your source media that are involved in this issue?
e. Where are the Scratch Disks directed and how much free hard drive space is at those locations?
f. Do the problems exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Let us start here and then we can decide what next.
Thanks.

Applications crashes when trying to print
A number of applications such as iwork,PDF, etc. crashes when trying to print, I can print test pages and use other printer utilities functions on my HP 970 CXI.
Creating new printer queue had no effect can any one suggest a solution. Thanks
Imac G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6)DariusT,
This may sound elementary but I turn off all print spoolers - print monitoring, background printing, etc. - as the very first test. This eliminates a whole class of issues, including some memory related questions.
The version of the operating system can also be a factor. If you turn off the printer, delete laserwriter 8 preferences, turn on the printer, select the printer in chooser and try printing again you may solve some problems.
You posted your question in the old folks home. Are you using an old computer? An iBook G4 processor is as new as a Mac Mini so I am assuming that this is a question that predates OS X. If this is an OS X printing problem, we need to shift mental gears or you may want to post your query again in a more modern forum. Post back will more details and we will try and help out.
