Computer doesn't detect sound c

Ok it seems I've made a big mistake... I had de-activated my SB Audigy 2 in Device Manager and was planning to un-install to do a fresh install.
Before I un-installed it I forgot to activate it and now everytime I start the installation it says it doesn't detect it... However I managed to install Creative Game Port and Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM) manually in Device Manager but it doesn't give any sound and when I try doing the installation it still says it doesn't detect it.
Is there any way to make it so it detects it again (without having to mess around with hardware by unplugging and plugging card) through BIOS or some software?
Thanks!

Hey, thanks for taking your time to help
> Have you run a test on the card, via the sound test from the Control Panel?
Yes it was simply saying there was no device, even after installing Creative Game Port and Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM). These were installed manually with the Creative Installation CD but they probably weren't the drivers exactly...
> Is the card fully seated in the slot?
Um I guess so... I mean it had always worked before I un-installed it. But games like BF42 and BF2 crashed. They didn't crash when I had my older system.
Since when I've changed to a new one with a different processor, motherboard and graphics card I've had many problems at first, BSODS etc and eventually everything got fried, but only hardware survi'ved, the SB Audigy 2.
The tech guys at the store replaced everything but the Sound Card, which seemed to be ok, and changed the motherboard to a GA-K8NXP Sli and it seemed everything was ok this time, no random BSODs but I was having lock-ups (screen turning black with hissing/screeching and crackling noises), CTDs and auto reboots in BF2 and BF42.
First I went to look at the IRQs, the Sound Card was sharing an IRQ with one of the graphics card. I de-acti'ved that specific graphics card and ran the games with only but I still was having problems. I decided to use WinDbg to debug the MiniDump files that had been created after the crashes.
One of them refered to ctaud2k.sys, which is a driver used by the Sound Card I believe, and that is why I first tried to de-activate the sound card (still crashed somehow) and then finally decided to un-install it (forgot to activate it before doing this).
At the moment I'm using AC97 Onboard audio and had no crashes whatsoever in any of the games. They do have worse audio quality of course (crackling/popping in BF2 and echoes in BF42 if both set to play with Hardware), but no crash!
Perhaps the SBAudigy2 was semi-damaged or something, I don't know. I'm thinking of buying a new one. I hope I'll have no problems with it.
What bothers me at the moment though is that Windows keeps detecting a "PCI Input Device" (Creative Game Port) and "Multimedia Audio Controller" (Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM)) and asks me to introduce the Creative Installation CD all the time so I've de-activated both so it stops asking me, as I am afraid they could conflict with AC97.
Thanks.

  • My Computer Doesn't Detect My Camera

My computer doesn't detect my camera! Can someone help? (If you haven't noticed, I created this account just to ask this question! Help is greatly appreciated!)
I recently had to do a system restore on my computer. After I restored, I tried to upload photos from my Powershot A4000 IS camera to my computer (I had done it before successfully) only to find that the Autoplay window didn't pop up (like it usually did) and the Hardware Fail sound played. I then tried to start my CameraWindow software manually, but it said my camera wasn't connected. I have several Usb ports on my computer, and I tried all of them. Nothing happened! I'm sure that I'm not missing any essential Canon software and my camera isn't damaged; I barely use it, and the Powershot A4000 support page claimed that I didn't need any extra drivers for my edition of Windows! Help!
P.S. My OS is Windows Vista SP2.

    Stupid_Computer,
There are some additional questions I would like to ask that will help me determine what is wrong.
      1.  Have you tried connecting your camera to a different computer?
      2.  Do other computers fail to recognize the camera?
      3.  Do you have any other devices connected to the computer, like a printer, scanner, webcam, external hard drive, etc?

  • My computer doesn't detect my Vision M 30

It started with my player working however the screen was scrambled. I couldn't read anything. So I did the clean-up, format and reset the firmware but now my Vision M turns on and says there is a firmware problem and it says to reload the firmware. The screen is also still scrambled. So I hook it up to my computer but it doesn't detect it. Where is this firmware and How do I get the firmware on my player when my computer doesn't detect it's? I'm lost and don't want to send it in, if I don't have to. Please help!

When you "reset" the firmware, you actually erased it. You can download the firmware from the Creative downloads page. You should check Windows Device Manager to confirm that it is connected, as the Creative programs, like MediaSource won't detect the player if it hasn't booted to an operational mode. As for the screen, something has probably gone bad in either the screen or the main logic board sending the image to the screen, but of course that also brings up the question as to how you were able to read the "Firmware Problem" message.

  • Computer doesn't detect iPhone

I have a 1st gen iPhone and when I plug it into my computer, it doesn't detect it. I know the USB works because the phone is charging. What can I do to get my computer to recognize the device?
I am using a desktop Mac with OS 10.5.7 and iTunes is v 8.2.1.
If you need other info, let me know.

Try re-installing itunes on top of the current itunes (do not un-install itunes).

  • Computer doesn't detect newly inserted RAM

    Hello,
I own a dual core 2.0 GHz G5. I just purchased more RAM 1GB x2. I have inserted them into the memor slots and my computer is not detecting them. What gives? I could use some help trouble shooting the situation. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Sometimes they take some effort. And sometimes you just need to boot into Open Firmware on startup holding down the four keys
    command + option + o + f
then reset nvram using three commands:
    reset-nvram
    set-defaults
    reset-all
... Mac will now reboot and tried to find system startup disk. you may want to use the OPTION key at that point and you will need to reset the Startup Disk.
Give that a try. (And they are in the correct paired slots.)

  • [solved] Pulseaudio doesn't detect sound card after system update

Before a recent system update I had pulseaudio working flawlessly, but after doing a recent system update with pacman -Syu,
pulseaudio no longer sees my sound card and only displays the Dummy audio device.  Among the packages updated that I can
remember off the top of my head are the Linux keneral, udev, kmod, instead of trying to roll back my system I figured I would try
to fix the issue.  The only thing suggested in the Pulseaudio wiki is that a asound.conf directory is overriding the /etc/asound.conf
file which is not the case on my system.
Looking at the output from lsmod I can see where the kernel modules for the sound card is getting loaded
    snd_hda_intel 23375 0
    snd_hda_codec 89160 3 snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_codec_hdmi

    snd_page_alloc 7153 2 snd_pcm,snd_hda_intel
    snd_timer 19544 1 snd_pcm
and looking at the output from the ps command I can see that pulseaudio is getting started
    1190 ? S<l 0:00 /usr/bin/pulseaudio --start
    1195 ? S 0:00 \_ /usr/lib/pulse/gconf-helper

Digging into this further aplay -L gives different output based off of whether or not I ran is as my normal user or with sudo/as root.

  • Problem: My computer doesn't detect my Creative dev

Hello,?I was getting a new laptop from acer that has Windows Vista installed. I?also have a Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra mp3-player that I bought a few years ago. I have already installed Creative MediaSource Organizer (version 2.02.06)?to my new computer but when I connect my player to the computer Windows tells me that"Creative MediaSource player has stopped working" and then says"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."Because of this error I can't connect my mp3-player to my computer an sync them.Windows points out?the solution for me to go to the [url="http://www.creative.com/swupdate/oca">Creative Technology, Ltd.[/url] website. When I do that I find some downloads but only if I got "Creative MediaSource player 5". So I tried to download and install "Creative MediaSource player 5" but couldn't do it because the installer didn't detect my Creative devise (the same problem that I began with!!!)Can anybody help me? Point out a download or a upgrade?that can fix?my problem? Thanks in advance?SteiBi

  • Doesn't detect sound card

"Setup is unable to detect supported product on your system. Please make sure product is properly installed before running setup.
    Setup Will exit"
Basically I bought an Xtreme gamer and I fitted it into the PCI slot nicely. Then I disabled onboard sound in the BIOS. When the PC loaded up, it didnt detect the new software. So I put the CD in anyway, and it let it load up. When the software installation loaded, it had the option of installing "Sound Blaster X-Fi" and "Creative Media Source". I tried to install them both, it tired to install the "sound blaster x-fi" first, but then as it reached the end, it had the Error message first quoted in the post. Then it installed the media source no problems.
Anyone know why it wont show up? PLEASE HELP ME!

  • Vista: computer doesn't detect iPod

I got my iPod 2 days ago, I went home and connected it to my PC and everything worked fine, I had my old iPod Nano connected at the same time, and both worked just fine. I put the songs on my iPod. I tried connected it to my PC a few hours later (just the new one) and it's not being detected by Windows, or iTunes. I'm using my old iPods USB cable, I'm not sure if that would affect it though because I used that cable for it when I connected it the first time.

I can't restore my ipod because it is not detected with the ipod updater either so resotring is unavailable.

  • Computer doesn't detect Visio

I just got my Vision M and my PC won't detect it. I have tried everything I have seen on the forums and nothing has worked for me so far. I tried editin the registry, I changed it so the USB ports don't turn off to save power and alot of other things. I am getting really annoyed with this. Please help me.Message Edited by noodles90 on 07-29-2006 08:08 AM

Try re-installing itunes on top of the current itunes (do not un-install itunes).

  • HT3669 Hi! I just bought an old printer, an Epson stylus color 740 and my computer doesn't detect a driver to install it.

I tried with download.com and the drivers seem corrupted. And this model is listed on the apple website. Where can I find a reliable place to download this? I have a macbook pro.
    Thanks a lot everybody!!

Well. Peter Bannon is correct in that you can download the Epson drivers (although they're 1.05 GB in size). My previous suggestion was meant to just get the small portion of that 1.05 GB file that you need.
The "try later" usually means that Apple's update servers are temporarily down, and that often gets corrected within a few minutes.
    Restarting can never hurt.
Unfortunately, I think that you do need a specific driver for the Epson 740. I don't think you can use a "generic USB driver" (as you _can_ for many network printers).

  • Live Monitor doesn't detects my updates

    Hello all
Been browsing arround the forums, but could't realy find this issue
    Question #1
I have installed a brand new windows, and the first thing I installed was LiveMonitor ver 3. I leted LM (LiveMonitor) detect what drivers needing updates, DL:ed them and installed them. After several reboots I had installed them all I though  . So I rerunned LM and did another autocheck, and I got exactly the same result!
I went in and checked the driver versions manualy in DeviceManager, and there all drivers look updated.
    The system I have is:
    MSI RS480M2-IL
    AMD Athlon 3500+ (130nm)
2*512 MB kingston KHX3200UL HyperX (I can't understand if that is an OK mem or not)
    Question #2
Should I be able to run a 64-bit OS on this machine? I tried both Microsoftand Novell (SUSE). The Linux fails initializing a table while mounting SWAP, and stands in a DoNothingLoop. Numlock and CapsLock works fine though. When trying to boot from MS 64 bit CD, the computer doesn't detect it sa bootable . I even tried DL and ISO  , burned it and got the same problem
    well, thanx in advance and

Live Monitor and Live update only properly detect MSI's own drivers. If you installed Windows without using the MB CD with MSI's drivers or got them from a site on the web other than MSI then they won';t be properly detected. No matter as most of the drivers at MSI or on the CD are dated anyways. Better to roll your own setup than to deal with older drivers.
