Computer doesn't recognize blank cd
Hi,
My computer was able to burn cds fine until a couple of days ago, and now when I insert a blank disc the icon doesn't appear on the desktop, and the "burn disc" option is greyed out. It appears that if I am in a program with its own burn disc option, such as itunes, I can burn a disc, but I can't burn it from the finder, so I can't burn most of my files. I tried cleaning the cache, cleaning the optical lens, repairing disc permissions, trashing preferences, etc., but nothing works. I think it's probably a permissions problem, because when I repair disc permissions it says it's changed the cd permissions to a new number, but then when I restart the computer the disc permissions actually haven't changed. Anyone have any ideas about how to fix this???
"but then when I restart the computer the disc permissions actually haven't changed"
Repairing disk permissions should not be done using Disk Utility on an external disc or disk, but from the version of Disk Utility located on your internal disk in the Applications>Utilities folder. The internal version of Disk Utility is kept up-to-date when you update your system software.

I have an early 2008 and mid 2010 13 inch macbook pro running iTunes 10.7. Itunes on both machines doesn't recognize blank cds or allow me to import from a music cd when I insert it.
iTunes does not use the .xml it uses the .itl
If you are sure your old library file migrated across (does the file size and modification dates suggest it has?) start iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and guide it to the .itl file to get it to use that one. -

My Windows 8.1 computer doesn't recognize my iPod nano 7th generation. Why?
My Windows 8.1 computer doesn't recognize my iPod nano 7th generation. Why?
When I connect my iPod to my computer, nothing happens. I've read the tips in the section "support" and I noticed that maybe Windows 8 is not one of the operating systems that are compatible with an iPod nano 7th generation. If I'm right, what can I do if my only device is a Windows 8?Hi, Grafiti.
Thank you for the question. Below, I have attached a couple troubleshooting articles that will help resolve the device not being recognized by iTunes.
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows

If the issue still persists after processing these steps, see the section in the article below labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

I have an 11" MacBook Air. When I plug in my VGA adapter to my Thunderbolt port, the computer doesn't recognize it ... unless I reboot the computer. Is there another way to get the computer to recognize the adapter? (It works with my MacBook Pro)
Thanks for the useful feedback, Knucklesmac. I agree. I must have blown something on the logic board -- because I had a faulty old KVM switch that would not switch between computers without some nasty hot-plugging/unplugging the VGA video cables. (wince!). It's like when Dizzy Dean ruined his arm because a line drive hit him in the foot and he readjusted his mechanics around the injury. I take the blame because this has been a great computer, and does not deserve any blame.
If it will help anyone else reading this thread, C2G (née Cables to Go) has some interesting ideas for still getting external video out of this computer:
-USB-to-VGA
http://www.cablestogo.com/product/30545
-Convert s-video or composite video signals to high resolution VGA
http://www.cablestogo.com/product/40971
The price range is $75-$85, which doesn't make horse sense to me for such an old computer -- which has a lot of life in it anyway, because its own 15" monitor is not chopped liver.

My computer doesn't recognize my Zen Creative Vision:M (30 GB) anymore
? I still use XP and I have this mp3-player for a year now and it has been working fine until yesterday. I ripped Stefani's first album and tried to drag one of her songs on my mp3-player, but the player couldn't handle the file it seemed. So it fell out, on, out, on and I just unplugged it. Then I plugged it back in, but ever since my computer doesn't recognize it (in the media explorer it also says it's not plugged in). The videos in my library also seemed to be missing all of the sudden (only the maps remained).. and?I re-installed every programm, including windows media player, and the only outcome of it is that my computer now labels it as a MTP Media Player. So now it does connect, but i still can't transfer files or get into the player's system.
It's strange, because many people have encountered this problem and the solutions seem to vary; one even solved it by simply re-installing WMP, which didn't work for me.
Help would be awesome, guys! From the recovery screen do a Clean-up,reboot. If you have copies of all your music you may need to Format the player (do not choose reload firmware or anything like that)? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...scending&page=

Latest iTunes update: computer doesn't recognize DVD drive
I updated iTunes and my computer doesn't recognize my keyboard and my DVD drive.
I was able to get the keyboard back by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
I had to do a system restore to get back the DVD drive.
I don't want to reinstall the update until I'm sure this won't happen again.Hello matthewfromwindber,
