Computer Doesn't Want To Restart?

Hey guys
Was wondering if you could help me with a little niggle.
Having formatted a few days ago it ocurred to me 30 mins ago to turn on cool'n'quiet and everythings fine as regards stability etc etc.
But the problem is when it comes to restarting. The computer powers down as it should, monitor goes black and then....nothing. I have to press the restart button to complete the reboot.
However the moment I turn cool'n'quiet off (whether its in the bios or I change the power management setting in windows) it reboots fine again :S
Anyone have any suggestions??? I think my sig covers any hardware related questions that might arise.
Thanks in advance

If you are wanting to use C&Q because of temp readings, id suggest flashing to bios v1.4 to see if that helps, as it did me. Also you may want to use the hidden bios value under PowerManagement called hammervid by pressing shift+F2 and alt+F3. These processors seem to work fine with lower voltages which will help your temps and the life of your cpu. The new bios v1.4 automatically lowers that value to 1.45, thats why people have noticed fluctuations in their voltages. I recently read posts where people were running at voltages as low as 1.4. Either way your temps will be lower. Im personally not a big fan of C&Q. It would never let my processor go beyond 1800mhz- i thought it was a waste to pay for the 2200mhz to only use 1800 of that.

Have you tried any routine maintenance or troubleshooting? For example, a safe boot, a test user account, repairing your hard drive, repairing permissions?

  • Ipod or computer doesn't want to connect.

I bought my Ipod 15 GB from a friend, when I received the pod, there were no problems at all, when using HIS computer. I connected the ipod to my computer, installed and such. It work, Ipod downloaded the music and everything were super. One day it wouldn't connect to my PC, I tried to restart it - didn't work. What the ****, I didn't think more about it, and another day it just worked.. hmm strange? And from that day it was like "god" choose which days it would work.
Now i formated my computer and my IPod connect with no problems at all - the first time. I didn't have anything in my Itunes and Musicmatch, so I disconnected it and started to import my music to Itunes. My ipod will NOT connect in anyway now. The only thing I can use my firewire card to now is to recharge the batteries. Well I got my Laptop too, so I could check out if it was the firewirecard? - Still no response from the pod.
Any of you have any suggestions ? In two weeks or so I'll be able to borrow a USB wire instead.

Okay, just one more thing to try for now, Resetting your Home Hub to its factory settings, all personal and saved data will be removed.

  • Ipod doesn't want to restart what should i do?

i don't know what to do

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • New computer doesn't want to connect to the intern...

I just got a new computer, Installed windows 7 on it and the computer won't recognise the connection from the ethernet cable. It works perfectly when plugged into my windows xp running laptop but it says there are no avaiable connections. When going to troubleshoot it says i need to download drivers ect for my internet but i'm not 100% sure if that's just a junky troubleshoot or it's what i need to do. Either way I don't have the internet on the computer so i can't download them anyway. Does anyone have any advice or even just a reason as to why my computer wouldn't pick this up.

    Hi Dubbster,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your MacBook Pro is not booting when you have the Mac OS X Install DVD inserted. Do you get any boot options when you hold down the Option key during startup? Please reference the following article and let me know if you need further assistance.

  • ITunes configures then wants to restart; again & again itunes doesn't open

If I want to open iTunes my system is telling me to wait untill windows has configured itunes, then its asking mo to restart, so that the changed configurations can work. so I've restarted, but now iTunes doesn't open. It just configures and wants to restart again. Can anyone help me with that problem??

I am experiencing the same problem with iTunes 8 too.
Here's what I know so far about this problem:
    1. It is not fixed by uninstalling and then reinstalling iTunes.
    2. It is not fixed by replacing the current iTunes icon I use with a new one from the original program in my Start Menu.
    3. It has something to do with the lack of administrative powers on my computer account that prevents iTunes from changing settings/reconfiguring/gathering infromation. (The iTunes on the Administrator's account works just fine.)
    4. It probably has something to do with the recent change from DRM-protected to DRM-free iTunes music. That's my theory. However, it could just be that iTunes had a structural or graphical update and needs to reconfigure in order to complete the redesign. Or something to that extent.
Regardless, iTunes is reconfiguring in such a way that strictly regulated computers won't allow. Something needs to be done so that iTunes can work around this.
I hope someone can help with this problem.
    Much thanks,

Ok, I had a glitch, forced to restart, and lost my train of thought.
Reinstalling iTunes should fix the major issue that might have gone wrong, perhaps your explaination points will disappear and everything will be peachy again.
But if they don't, you can open the XML file in iTunes Folder using a Text edit program to see what the common pathname is to the iTunes Music folder or where your content is located.
If you moved the itunes folder, it needs to go back.
I can't  download iTunes to my Vista virtual machine to test it out right now because iTunes is down, so I can't verify the pathname, perhaps your issue and the iTunes being down are related somehow?
You don't want to import all your music again, but it's a option, but you lose all your playlists, that's what I'm trying to recover.
If oyu don't have a whole lot of playlists, then simply select all the explaimation point music and delete, select File from the menu and import your itunes folder again.

  • Can anyone please tell me why the "Do you want to restart your computer now" window keeps popping up every two minutes? Please help! Its driving me nuts?

    Hi all.
I need some help. I have recently installed a new Hard Drive in my Macbook and have re-installed Snow Leopard. Since doing so there have been a few things that haven't been quite the same.
    1) Certain buttons decided they didnt want to work anymore. These being the Space Bar, the Tab key, all four arrow keys, Caps lock, Volume up, Eject, and a few others.
After putting up with this for a couple of weeks and looking at numerous forums, they all of a sudden came back to life (Hence why I'm actually able to type this message) THEN, they packed up again. Then started again, then packed again, and so on. They seem to have a mind of their own.
Please... does anyone know whats going on? Is it a hardware prob? Is it something to do with the way Ive installed the Hard Drive? Have I forgotten to do something?
    2) Ever since my buttons initially came back to life, the "Do you want to restart you computer?" window keeps popping up every couple of minutes.
It's the window that says "Restart, Sleep, Cancel, Shut Down"
It's driving me insane and I can't help but think that the two probs are related.
If anyone out there has any ideas at all, they would be most welcome.
    Many thanks in advance
    MadDogSnaps

Have you tried reinstalling the original drive? Same symptoms with it?

I just purchased a new computer that runs windows 8 and it doesn't want to recognize the time capsule as an external hard drive (ie doesn't show up under my compter).  I've downloaded and run airport utility, but it seems to have a hard time finding the time capsule...maybe one out of 10 times it will find it.
What's more, when I look under network infrastructure under the control panel, it shows my Broadcom ADSL centurylink Router...so I'm wondering if my modem/router combo is overriding the router function on my timecapsule and the time capsule is not being used as a router...
    Any help much appreciated!

In this case the TC should be in bridge mode.
Win8 is still problematic. Try using ethernet instead of wireless. I think the drivers are poor still and it is well worth having a try via ethernet if you haven't already.
Otherwise you will need to wait for apple to release bonjour for windows 8 and airport utility.. which is not out yet.
Also make sure the windows is set to home, not work or public.. even turn off the firewall.
Open windows explorer and type the TC ip address into the address bar.. (none of which is perhaps the same.. I gave away windows at vista.. shudder)

    Hello sallay Amir,
Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you would like to erase your MacBook Pro and install a new copy of OS X, but the Mac does not boot to OS X Recovery when you hold the Command + R keys during startup.
If your Mac came with OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) or earlier, I recommend referring to the steps in this article:
Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard: How to Erase and Install - Apple Support
For a newer Mac (OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite), try reinstalling OS X by using Internet Recovery, as described in the "OS X Internet Recovery" section on this page:
OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support
    All the best,
    Jeremy
