Computer fails to start up

I run a HP 6000 Pro Desktop computer.
Upon switching on the powerlight turns on and stays on (fixed)
No HD reading or writing
No cursor on the screen
However after about 10 seconds all ventilators rev up to maximum speed and stay at this speed until the computer is switched off by the on / off button
Power led gives no POST warnings and no beeps are heard
Hard disk replaced with other similar computer, starts up normally, HD OK
Suspect motherboard, however no blinks of the power led
Possibly Power supply, computer clean and just three years old.
Appreciate your suggestions
Regards

Dear Erico
Thanks for quick response.
I have tried both your proposed options;
Firstly disconnected HD (both power cable and SATA cable) no difference,
Cleared CMOS, no difference.
Checked again seating of memory found OK.
Removed an additional Network Card from the PCI connector, no difference.
Removed connections to CD Rom, (both power cable and SATA) no difference.
Removed for sake of completeness battery, no difference.
The start up sequence apperas quite unusual:
Upon switching on by the power button, the powerlight switches on (green) and the HD light switches on for a short moment (Only while pushing the power button)
Ventilators start running on normal speed.
Access to CD rom (trying to read from CD rom) (also with a start-up disk the computer will not boot)
HD appears to rev up (I only hear the sound of revving up, however no read or write indication (HD led stays dark))
Computer shuts down automatic after about 5 seconds. (ventilators stop, power led switches off)
Computer powers up again automatically after a delay of about 2 seconds.
Same starting up sequence as above.
After about ten seconds ventilators of powersupply and chassis speeds up to maximum revs.
I am not sure if the ventilator of the processor also revs up, I tried same with the processor ventilator disconnected, no difference.
This continuous untill shutting down by hand (pressing power button 4 seconds)
While pressing the powerbutton the HD led lights up.
(power led lights continuously during start up, no POST warnings, no beeps, no cursor on screen)
It appears to me that the computer thinks that it is overheated and accordingly wants to cool down the chassis by additional ventilation. However I anticipated that only the processor temperature is monitored.
The problem first occurred after switching on at 08:00 in the morning after being switched off the day before at 17:00.
your further suggestions are appreciated.

  • A305 S6898 power light comes on, computer fails to start up.

    A305 s6898. Windows vista.
Over the past several months, I've gone to turn on my computer, and found that the hard drive would simply refuse to spin. I press the power button, and power comes on. The power button glows, and the indicator at the front of the computer is lit to show that the computer has power.
However, the screen does not light up, and the laptop will not boot. The tiny cylindrical indicator that typically flashes when the computer is working properly initially begins to glow, and then stops. It does not start again, and apart from the power indicator being lit, the computer is, for all intents and purposes, off.
The first few times this happened, I ignored it because the computer will eventually turn on after several hard shut shutdowns. The number of attempts has varied greatly depending on the occasion.
It has been happening more and more often.
Due to the fact that this issue is intermittent, and is not accompanied by an errors. I am convinced that this is due to a physical problem within the computer. Possibly a loose connection or an old wire? I'd like to know if it's fixable and, if it is, how to safely go about fixing it.
    thanks in advance

Product model HP Pavilion dv2911us Entertainment Notebook PC
Problem: failure to start up,when I tried to perform a hard reset, the following symptoms were noticed ( LEDs glow , fan noise can be heard, the display remained black ( except for two lines of function keys information at the bottom of the screen and the computer failed to start up.
F10 key was pressed and the BIOS mode was entered. A memory test was done sucessfully but a hard drive test failed to respond.
What can I do to recover the computer without loosing my data.

You likely need a new hard drive and I would guess your old data is not accessible. Pull out the old hard drive and stop trying to access it because every time you do it lowers the already slim odds of recovering data from it. You need to attach it to another computer with a SATA to usb adapter and see if you can access the data in that manner.

With that one, first try uninstalling and reinstalling your MobileMe Control Panel for Windows, robin. Does that make the error go away?

  • I receive an error message when trying to install the latest Itunes program on my computer using windows 7, 64. I receive the message, "service  apple mobile device fails to start"

What must I do to install the latest Itunes program using windows 7, 64. The program stops when the service portion is installing and states, "Service Apple mobile division fails to start"

Well, shucks, i just spent almost 30 minutes trying to find your model user guide to explain it better, I guess they never got around to making it.....
I would just borrow another Windows disk and try installing it again and if it does it again then you might take it to an Apple Store and see if one of the "Genius' " can figure it out.
Make sure your internet is enabled and click on your blank desktop and at the top of your screen is a Help menu option, enter PRAM and it should give you a list of things relating to Pram. It may take a few seconds to list anything as it has to connect to Apples severs first. It should list the things you may have to fill back in when your done.
"P-ram" stores some common information that is used in the background, your date, time, startup disk, etc, that you don't have to re-fill when you restart, it's a little different for each computer.

  • Windows could not start the FLEXnet Licensing Service service on Local Computer Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

Today I installed Adobe Director 11.5. I received a couple of errors in the FLEXnet Licensing Service. It looks It could not start. I tried to download the Licence fix what I found on Google but that doesn't work, so I checked the 'Service' at service (windows).
It's status is empty. When I double click on the FLEXnet Licensing Service, clicked on start at the opened window and an error is coming:
Windows could not start the FLEXnet Licensing Service service on Local Computer
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.
I don't understand what it says with this message, only that it is impossible to start. However, that is not what I am trying of course, I want to start the FLEXnet Licensing Service, service.
Re-installing of the software, doesn't make any change. How can I start it so Director is also working?

    Hi Don1233,
Please consider seek help at the software vendor side.

I cant download itunes on my computer because it says " service 'apple mobile device' failed to start. verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. what does this mean? how do you verify this?

I am having this same problem. I took Kappy advice on restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service, however that did not work. I got this message in a pop up window that came up immediately.
Windows could not start the Apple Mobil Device Service on local computer.
Error 1053  The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
I have already uninstalled itunes, all the related programs and I cannot reinstall, this Apple Mobil Device message stops the install.
    Can anyone please help?

  • Unable to download iTunes on my second windows computer (64 bit). I got it fine on my first one. After downloading the program and installing it, I keep getting an error message:Apple Mobile Device Failed to Start. This happens wven when my IPhone 5c is t

I am unable to download iTunes on my second Windows 8 computer (64 bit). I got it fine on my first one and have used it quite a bit. After downloading the program and installing it on the second computer, I keep getting this error message: "Apple Mobile Device Failed to Start." This happens when when my IPhone 5c is connected via Wi-Fi and I have clicked on "Trust This Computer." (I have tried to install several times-- It gets hung up when it reaches"Starting Services.")

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.
