Computer Freezes at PW screen
So my iBook G3 Dual USB Firewire running OS 10.2.8 started completely freezing off-and-on a couple days ago. I'd start it up and nothing would be wrong after that. Now it's gotten so bad that when I turn on the computer, my password screen comes up, but when I click my name to log in, I type the first key of my password and everything freezes up. I tried resetting the PMU, I tried restarting in safe mode (it grey-screened with no "thinking" wheel for like twenty minutes before I turned it off), but nothing has worked. I have gotten my logic board replaced three times already but the symptoms are very different from before in that before, there was always the intermittent issue with screen not turning on at startup but everything working correctly, or having a complete freeze accompanied by lines on the screen. This is just a complete freeze. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.
It sounds like a hardware problem. You have two choices.
1) Get it repaired for around $300
2) Sell it for parts and buy a new/used computer and move on.
Most iBooks Dual USBs don't last much more than 3-4 years. Beyond this it will require some TLC.

My does my computer freeze and the screen go black when I try to look at online videos?
It does not matter what site I am on, if I want to look at online videos my computer will lock up and not respond. It does this on CNN, etc when looking at iReports or other online videos.
Quit the Videos app completely, restart the iPad and then try again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button
If that doesn't work, try this.
Swipe to the right from your first home screen to get to the iPad Spotlight search. Type in the name of any of your movies in the field at the top. when the movie appears in the search - tap on it and it should hopefully start to play. Let it play for a minute or so - hit done - go back to videos app and see if all is OK.
And if that doesn't work, You can try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -
Computer Freezes at apple screen.
So okay i was online today and was trying to access a file.. when all of a sudden safari just went dead.. then every program i tried to start after that would pop-up in the dock but then shut down ASAP with out ever really starting.. so i figure i restart the computer. Did so.. then the screen with the apple logo and the loading image came on and after 5 minutes didnt go anywhere.. the fans kicked in OVER time and i just shut it off.. did the ram rest thing by holding control, option and p and r and that worked..but it didnt solve the problem..
Any ideas.. this is a G5 imac without the intel chip.. and i know i am running OS X but not what versionYou have a problem -- however, you may be suffering from a power supply failure, see if you serial numbers are listed in this program power supply or video and power issues, and if they are, call Apple, who will repair your machine free.

Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If the above fails, then it appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

Computer freezes when I plug in Nano
Whenever I plug in my Nano into this computer, this computer freezes.The iPod screen looks like it's only charging, without the "Do Not Disconnect" screen. I have tried plugging in the iPod into two other computers, a PC and Mac, and it worked fine for both of them, "Do not disconnect" and all. However, I have tried almost everything on this computer. I have disabled all programs that load at start-up, I have reinstalled iTunes about 3 times, I have restored my iPod twice and formatted it once through the "My Computer" window and I have scanned for both spyware and viruses. I'm going absolutely insane over this whole thing, as nothing seems to be working and this just happened unexpectedly for no apparent reason.

Be sure to only connect your iPod (to a rear USB port on your computer) keyboard and mouse, and disconnect all other USB devices, including printers, digital cameras, scanners, thumb drives, flash memory, external hard drivers, threshers, etc. prior to changing the drive letter. Also, if you are on a network, disconnect, and use a much higher drive letter like M or P or Z.
As for viruses, etc., make sure all of your antivirus/spyware software preferences are set not to scan iPods. If you are manually managing your music, or have enabled disk use on your iPod, you will also have to set it to not scan removable storage devices. -
Have a problem where I'll occasionally shift my computer (i.e. physically move it, say from the coffee table to my lap on the couch) and it will freeze and the screen will turn into a bunch of horizontal multicolored lines (closer to 100 lines than 5). Usually restarting (by holding the power button to turn it off) works. A few times that has resulted in the three beeps (RAM issue? -- I've since replaced my RAM [it *seemed* to stop it for a while, but maybe not]), but the second time it always works. Attempting to SSH into the computer during this state does not work. Please advise as to what to do/what reports I can run and post. I will take a pic next time it happens.

OS 10.6.8Sounds like a problem with your GPU. Do you have an external display you could connect your machine to in order to test this? If the external display renders the same way, then your GPU is damaged. If the external renders fine, then the CPU display is damaged.

iphoto causes half my screen to be reversed (screen split with the right side half now on the left side and the left hand side on the right.) and screen gets multiple blurry copies. Also the computer freezes. Any suggestions about a fix? Can I delete iphoto and reinstall? If so, will I lose my photos?

I have a MacBook Pro running mavericks. Sometimes the screen glitches out, gray lines appear on it then my computer freezes and must be restarted sometimes it will beep 3 times when restarting and other times it won't. Is this a virus, software issue, water damage, etc? An error message usually appears after being restarted. It does it all the time please help.
No Virus. You have a Hardware Problem. 3 Beeps means a RAM problem. You could try Reseating the RAM is its sockets.
But that wouldn't necessarily cause the screen to Glitch Out, as you say. -

Thanks in advance!I just did a little test and changed something in my Screen Saver settings and looked to see what changed (just had a Finder window open in my ~/Library/Preferences and had the "Date Modified" column selected so that the most recent change would appear at the top) and noticed that the file called com.apple.screensaver.xxxx.plist file changed (the xxxx is a hex number that is part of your UUID, or perhaps the whole UUID, as have seen it both ways). This screensaver preferences file is located in ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost which makes sense, as every user would need their own set of screen saver preferences on each host.
Looking at this file in TextWrangler it looks like this:

One thing I did have a question about is how to find the UUID. On a Mac Pro system the command:
system_profiler | grep -i uuid
returned the expected number that was part of the com.apple.screensaver.xxxx.plist file, but this did not work on a MacBook Pro. No luck trying to find out why so far. Anyone have any ideas? There is also a UUID associated with a disk volume, that appears to have nothing to do with the UUID associated with the system. So the UUID I'm talking about here is for the system, not a disk.

Computer freezes upon trying to activate screen saver?
I recently went on vacation and downloaded some pictures to use as my screen saver. But everytime I go into Prefrences to choose a picture to be used as my screen saver, my computer freezes on me. Does anybody know how I can resolve this problem?

A drive that's too full can cause all sorts of problems, but I doubt that freeing up space will, in itself, resolve it. Let's hope I'm wrong! We'll soon see, once you free up some space on your startup volume. If this is the only abberration you're experiencing with the operating system, I'd go ahead and resolve your drive space issue first, keeping this issue open for some suggestions from the Members.
BTW - The reason I previously asked if you can launch System Preferences and change the Screensaver to one of the standard ones (without crashing) is to eliminate the files in that particular pictures folder - as well as the slideshow routine that drives the screensaver - as the cause of the problem.

I have tried to install and reset my Internet explorer several times and still have the same result, my computer freezes and then goes to blue screen and resets. I am running windows 7 64 bit and windows Internet explorer 8. I have tried to go through the adobe trouble shooting and end up with the same problem. Does anyone have an idea were to go from here, this is getting very frustrating.

Youtube video loss on Safari 5.0.3 in 32bit
When switching Safari 5.0.3 to 32bit mode (Applications->Safari->GetInfo) to "support" using Xfinity (comcast) MoveNetworks plugin, I lose videos on youtube (audio only). Workaround is to run Safari in 64-bit and use Firefox to view Xfinity.com using
