Computer freezes when trying to sync ipod touch

I recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 64 bit and I'm not sure if I had this problem. I have the 64 bit version of itunes downloaded and I got a new 32gb ipod touch for christmas today. I plugged it in and set it all up and when it goes to sync, it shows that it gets to the 5th song out of like 500? songs I have and my whole computer freezes. I have my itunes setup so that it gets my songs from my external hard drive. I don't know if that would be a problem by trying to send my songs from my hard drive to my computer and then to my ipod. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

i am having some success with my touch now by right clicking on the itunes icon and selecting, troubleshoot compatibility, troubleshoot program, program worked on earlier versions, then select, win vista service pack2. this is probably not a permenant fix but for the time being it seems to work. hope you have some joy with your setup. • Itunes freezes when trying to sync Ipod Touch

    Hi,
I have just installed the lastest version of itunes (11.2.2.3) after having issues with installing I finally cracked it with help fromn the support forum.
I am now trying to sync my Ipod touch and everytime i try and sync itunes locks up and have to end task in windows task manager.
any ideas on how the fix this?? im running windows 8.1 and have had no issues syncing till instlling the new update.
    any suggestions greatly recived.
    Cheers

    Yes.
The same thing has happened to me. After the hideous update they did a couple of months ago I didn't think they would mess things up like this again. And why, I, as a costumer have to go to all the trouble to create another account to see if the problems persist? If they weren't there in the first time, why should I struggle to fix it? It's APPLE's product and it should respond to the costumer's needs. I guess the best solution is not to install the upcoming updates.

  • My computer crashes when trying to sync ipod touch...HELP!

My whole computer crashes without warning - just powers off, usually when I am transferring a CD into iTunes. But, it will do it at other times as well. If there is an error message - I do not see it as it happens too fast. I just downloaded iTunes last week and started having this problem right away. Any solutions yet? I have the 80gb iPods, although this happens whether or not they are connected.

We'd better check for a hidden blue screen, then.
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
Now try to provoke another crash.
With those settings in place, does a blue screen appear before the PC reboots?
If so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x\[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
If the blue screen mentions a specific file (for example, “ati3duag.dll”), let us know what that is called too. (Exact spelling, please.)

  • Error 14 when trying to sync iPod Touch

Hello. I tried updationg my iPhone OS for my 2nd Generation iPod Touch today and I got and error while trying to do that. I then realized that I hadn't updated my iTunes (update which was released yesterday). I updated my iTunes and then tried to update my iPod Touch again but I keep getting the same error 14, everytime!
I've tried reading Apple's support pages and nothing seems to solve my problem. I've tried restoring my iPod but it just won't let me do it. I get the same error everytime. Plus I've tried doing that on 2 different Macs. On my iMac and on my Macbook Pro. Can someone please help me? I'm afraid I might lose everything I have on my iPod Touch, not to mention the fact that I might not be able to take my music to work with me tomorrow. Please help!

Okay! I got mine to work!
It turns out the only thing I had not tried was restoring the ipod in another computer. I didn't have access to a second computer last night, so there was no way for me to try it. On a whim, I used my mom's laptop to try the restore.
    Turns out it worked!
I didn't download the new version of iTunes on her laptop when prompted to. Maybe it helped I didn't, maybe did not. I don't know but I'm just relieved my touch is working again<3
I hope this helps anyone who gets this problem!
Oh! and my touch is working again with my main pc where I was originally having the Error 14 problem.
So after the restore, I think its safe to go back to the main computer where all your music, videos, apps, ect. are on

  • Error -39 when trying to sync ipod touch with itunes

Does anyone know how to fix this??? I am trying to sync pics to my ipod touch and this is what error comes up. The error comes up when just trying to sync the ipod to itunes?? any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Check this document: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297
The origin of this error is that you are trying to sync with the wrong version of iTunes. However, in this case it might be indicating a corrupt file. Does it always stop at the same picture? If so, try deleting the picture from the folder and syncing again.

  • ITunes freezing when trying to sync iPod...

This problem just recently started, but I can't fix and need help! Whenever I try and sync my iPod it syncs maybe a few songs and then freezes, then if try and force quit iTunes or eject my iPod my entire computer freezes and I have to force restart my computer. It has been fine until about a couple days ago, I don't know if it's my iPod or what, I've thought about reverting it then trying to sync it again, but I don't want to do that and then not have anything on it if it doesn't sync, so that is my last resort. I've seen some other people are having the same problem but haven't seen many solutions...any help would be appreciated!

I am also having a very simalar problem but i am glad to hear it is also happening to someone else.
I still haven't been able to decide what the actuall reson for this problem is, for a while i thought it may have been an "intel problem" as one of my frends kindly put it, but i am now lead to belive that it is a problem with the auto sync.
For a temporary solution i have been updating my ipod manually but even then it does frezze occasionaly. So i would be very intersted if anyone has any solutions or resons why it happens.

  • Error message in Itunes when trying to sync Ipod Touch 4th gen.

I'm trying to sync my iPod and I keep getting the message that "Itunes cannot sync apps to the ipod because the apps installed on the ipod could not be determined". It seems to be keeping the sync from finishing, so I can't access anything new I've added. It shows up on the ipod and looks like it's there in itunes, but I can't select it when I try to open it on the ipod.

Make sure you are using the most recent version of iTunes and QuickTime. They both can be downloaded free of charge.

  • ITunes freezes when trying to upgrade iPod touch software

I just purchased the iPod upgrade software, the iPhone 2.2 software upgrade. As iTunes is backing up my iPod touch, it freezes before it can finish the job. This has happened 3 times now, and I am still unable to update my iPod version.

Sorry. I just needed to restart my MacBook.

  • Itunes freezes when trying to sync ipod

this started to happen when i had to re-install itunes because they deleted all my content. it was the old version anyways, so i installed the latest version. now, whenever i connect the ipod into my computer and itunes detects it, itunes freezes and my new content doesn't get synced. the battery sign on my ipod shows that it's connected, but itunes doesn't respond to anything i do. Only after i disconnect my ipod does itunes start working again. any suggestions?

My 80GB ipod and itunes also freeze during sync. I tried resetting ipod, had Best Buy restore ipod, and have an extended warranty with Best Buy-they sent in my ipod and I got a replacement ipod. I have already checked my anti-virus and have scanned my computer for any problems, which none came up. So my laptop and ipod are good. Did not have any problems with ipod or itunes until I got the new update for itunes 9.2. The problem is with itunes updates, now I have an ipod with no music and cannot sync my music back into it. If they can't fix this, I will get rid of this ipod and never buy any apple products ever again.

  • ITunes 10.0.1.22 still crashes when trying to sync iPod Touch or iPhone 3GS

The crash occurs every time iTunes is syncing with the two devices and at the forth stage when iTunes is copying music to the devices, and it seems to occur when one of the songs purchased at iTunes Store is being copied??? Is there any utility to check the integrety, etc of the mpeg 4 files in my iTunes Library??? IF it is this one song that is causing the crash, am I entitled to get the song again from the iTunes Store without charge?

Two iPhone 2g's crash - iPad works fine.
Me too- Crash on my podcast sync, but I'm able to transfer purchases in. My second 2g iphone is the same. My iPad syncs audio/all just fine. I wasn't interested in upgrading to 10 for this very reason, but I had to. I have it backed up to itunes on a W7 netbook. I then try to use my main computer. I have to setup as a new phone. Everything else syncs until the audio. Same account, same network, same shares but I have to pick a computer. Great Plan! This has been broken for a month. Is there a phone number for support of my 275 apps?

  • ITunes freezing when trying to sync iPod Classic 160

    System stuff
    MacBook Pro OSX 10.5.8
    iTunes 10.6.1 (7)
    iPod Classic 160g
This iPod is only music, no photos, podcasts, movies, anything else.
I have had no issues syncing my iPod on my MacBook Pro, until the last two times, both times coinciding with iTunes updates.
The first time i had an issue, I got error messages telling me the disk couldnt be written to, and told me to restore the disk. I did this, and after 3 times it restored and synced successfully.
Yesterday I began to sync and it worked, but was going extremely slow. In aabout 3 hours it had added about 600 songs out of 2200. (Now I know its a big sync, but I often add a lot of music at once. It's my job.) After it got that far, iTunes froze. I force closed iTunes and that ejected the iPod. I lt it rest a few minutes, restarted my computer, and plugged in the iPod again. iTunes opened, it started syncing and then froze while determining tunes to sync. So I force quit, unplugged the iPod, opened iTunes and set to not automatically sync. Plugged the iPod back in, and restored the disk. Ive done this a dozen times, at least.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it.
    Thank you in advance!!

Try removing and then reinstalling the Apple software using these instructions.
