Computer froze while download purchases....some songs are lost

While downloading the album "Broken Boy Soldiers" by "The Raconteurs" my computer froze and had to be restarted. When this happened, two of the songs were at the "processing" stage so according to iTunes they were already downloaded when I restarted, however the song files are nowhere to be found. When I did the check for purchases it started downloading the non-downloaded songs, with the exception of those two songs. How do I get them back?

What actions, if any, did you take to transfer your iTunes Library from your old computer to your new one?  Unless you do so, the only songs that will automatically be available to you are your previous iTunes Store purchases - and even then this is dependent on both where you are (not all regional versions of the Store provide this facility) and whether the songs you've purchased are still available from the Store.
As leofanti points out, iTunes Match is not a backup service for your library.

  • I bought a Mac and transferred my music from iTunes on old computer to new mac- now some songs are only partly on- song stops before finishing song...whats up?

My itunes on my mac and a lot (not all) of the songs that I transferred are not in complete...it shows the correct time of song but goes to next song after a certain amount of time...I have found at least 20 but know there are more as I havent checked every song...

Yes, and because of the number of comments I see about this I will say this seems to be a bug with recent iTunes.  Apart from rebuilding the library from ground up I don't know of a sure cure for it.  Are you running the newest version of iTunes?

    Hi gdogk,
If there was an interruption during the initial iTunes Match process and you are now having issues with playback and album art, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful. In particular, you may want to turning iTunes Match off, then back on again, as noted here:
If iTunes Match is already enabled on your computer or device, try turning iTunes Match off and then on again.
Mac: While holding down the option key, choose Store > Turn Off iTunes Match.
Turn iTunes Match on by selecting Store > Turn On iTunes Match.
Windows: While holding down the shift key, choose Store > Turn Off iTunes Match.
Turn iTunes Match on by selecting Store > Turn On iTunes Match.

  • TS1362 I downloaded two cd's last night and I am un able to play some songs cause it tells me I am this computer is unauthorized to play some songs,I did what it said about going to store to get authorized and still will not work, not happy at all!

I downloaded two cd's last night and I am un able to play some songs cause it tells me I am this computer is unauthorized to play some songs,I did what it said about going to store to get authorized and still will not work, not happy at all!  I NEED HELP OR MY MONEY BACK NOW!

There seems to be an occasional issue with downloads from the store. They prompt for authorization when they are in fact corrupt/incomplete in some fashion. Try deleting the problem tracks (do not hide from iTunes in the cloud), close iTunes and reopen, go to iTunes Store > Qucklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer. Select a few tracks to download then click the icon that appears at the top-right of the iTunes window.. Untick the box that reads Allow simultaneous downloads. Proceed with the rest of your eligible purchases.
If you still have a problem use the Report a problem links in your account history to contact the iTunes Store support team.

  • I purchased some songs on my mac book air and they are not available on my Mac even after some days and running Match

    Hi,
I purchased some songs on iTunes using my mac book air. I tried to play them some days later on my Mac but are not available. I tried updating /  running Match no joy.
    any ideas?
    thanks,
    Kim Johnson

Thanks for the response. That was helpful. However, I still want to know why did the songs I purchased yesterday appear on my IPod for downloading but the those I purchased today did not? After you rassistance I went to settings and turned on automatic downloading for my ipod. So if it wasn't enabled yesterday, how was I able to see the purchases I made yesterday on my computer on the ipod and then download them to the ipod? That is what I expected to see today but all I was seeing were the songs I purchased yesterday and not the ones I did today.

  • My wife purchased some songs from itunes for her iphone.  If I go to sync her ipphone with our itunes library will her purchases be wiped out.  They do not show up in our library on my computer.

My wife purchased some songs for her new iphone from itunes on the phone.  They do not show up in our library on my home computer.  When I go to add new songs to her iphone from my computer are her purchases going to be wiped out.

Is the computer authorized for her iTunes account? If not, sign her in in iTunes and then go up to: Store>Authorize this computer. You say "our library", does that mean she does not have her own computer login? Has she ever synced to this computer/iTunes before? Once she is logged in & the computer authorized for her account, you can transfer purchases on her phone without syncing. With her phone connected, iTunes running: File>Transfer Purchases.

While downloading purchased items, message pops 'There was an error downloading some purchased items stopped err = 3259'

You'll have to check your security software settings, iTunes has to be able to connect to Apple servers during the download process.

  • Some songs are not longer available and an ! exclamation mark appears before the song. What should I do?

Some songs are not longer available and an ! exclamation mark appears before the song in iTunes. What should I do?

When you open iTunes it opens a database file that contains the locations of the media files you use to play the music.  If something has happened to invalidate where iTunes thinks that file is stored you get a !   There are many possible reasons.  Sometimes a computer can start to lose files.  In other situations it is something you did such as renaming a folder or drive iTunes uses, or moving the files manually.  If you can give us hints we can start working our way down the long list.

  • Some songs are distorted after transferring to iPod....

I have a unique problem, some songs are distorted and occasionally sound like they are skipping when I transfer them to the iPod, yet if I play the files on my computer in iTunes, they play fine. Any suggestions as to what might cause this?

OK, so I went back and listened again to the tracks in iTunes, and it turns out that for some reason even though I thought I checked the "use error correction" box on my home computer's iTunes, error correction wasn't turned on after all. I noticed because I did hear the distortion on the playback of one song when played from iTunes. I am in the process of re-importing a couple of cd's with error correction turned on, and I am pretty sure this is the problem. I re-imported the one song I noticed it on originally and it got rid of it. I listened to one of the cd's back this morning in iTunes and didn't notice the distortion, but apparently it was there and I just missed it. So, chalk this one up to user error/self pwnt, haha!
