Computer fully charged and turning off

My computer is completely charged. When I take it off the charger, it turns off after a few minutes. When I plug it back in, it comes on by itself. What's wrong? It's not even a year old. It shouldn't be doing this!!!

If it is less than a year old, the warranty is still in effect therefore make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have them correct the problem.
My guess is that there is a problem with the battery or the power circuit.  You could try a SMC reset and see if that has any positive affect.

    maybe but
    most likely no
if you have many apps running and using data and localization at the same time yes maybe
but batteries get worse and worse and worse over time until they die a software reset will not change that

can anybody help me? i was charging my ipod touch and it was almost fully charged and it randomly shut off and will not turn back on, anybody know how to fix it?

    Try the remaining items of:

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Macbook Pro Mid 2014 Retina Flashing green light on charger when fully charged (macbook turned off or lid closed)

    Hi there,
Just got a Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2014. I have noticed that when the Macbook is turned off or the lid is closed the green light on the charger is blinking. It seems it does this when the Macbook Pro is fully charged and I am not sure if it is a fault with the charger or if it just does this when its fully charged? When the laptop is open and plugged in it doesn't do this.

You tried the SMC Rest right?

  • Charge and turn off player

Hi!I started to initial charge my new sansa clip+ by wall charger and after 30sec I turn off player on power button. 4 hours later I disconnected player from charger and turn it on. Info page show 92% battery status. Am I did anything wrong, or it is OK?

You might leave the player charging longer to see if it charges any more.   Likely, it's fully charged--the Sansa Clip battery gauge can be a bit, um, "approximate."

  • My 6 will not open or show a screen.  Was completely charged and turned off. When turning in it flashes an apple and then goes to a very dark grey screen. Unable to get anything.

My 6 turned off with a full charge and will. It turn back on. Have tried resetting, flipping mute switch and all recommended Apple suggestions.  It very briefly flashes the Apple logo and then nothing.  There is a slight color change of the screen, but no suggestion of working. Tried recharging,  Nothing.

ALso, I can't get into the phone to get a serial number so can't chat with Apple about this problem.
You can find the serial number of the device in multiple places:
    A) Engraved on the back of the device is the IMEI number.  That corresponds directly to the Serial Number.
    B) On the box it came in.
    C) If you made a backup to iTunes previously, you can find the serial number in the Preferences window, under Devices.

  • Ipad charges and turns off, turns on then turns off again

HI, i am suddenly having problems with my iPad. its approx 1 1/2 years old. Last night it went flat, while playing candy crush. so i put it on charge last night, this morning its saying its flat (so a full 7hrs on charge). so all day from 8am to 1pm its on charge, but still saying its flat (comes up with a battery thing thats red). so i noticed during charging, it will turn on for a little bit and then suddenly turn off and will do this a lot of times. i have tried the different cords and charges. plus i have connected it the iMac as well. when it suddenly "loads up" to turn on i have tried the "resetting" but it turns off quicker than i can do it. i have even tried it while its off, but to no avail.
so it is recognising charging but won't charge. it will turn on, then off, then on, then off. is there anything i can do really? iTunes won't recognise it. when its plugged it.
    any ideas or help?

    Howdy Stevie,
As someone who uses my iPad daily for everything from work to recreation, I know I would be unhappy if mine acted the way your iPad is, apparently not charging and being unable to turn on. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.
I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • My macbook will not charge and turns off completely when I remove the power cable.  can anyone help?

The battery is sitting at 75% and has not moved even though it is plugged into the mains.  It will not switch on unless connected to the power cable and turns straight off when disconnected.  The wee green light is on the cable is on when plugged in so its not the power cable.  Could it be my battery?  the I only bought this two years ago.
    Please help.

You posted your question in the "Intel iMac Forum".  You should repost it in the appropriate "MacBook Forum" in order to get an accurate response.

  • My iPhone 4 is no longer recognised by my laptop, and no longer registers being plugged in to charge, even though it will charge slowly if plugged in and turned off. It's not a cable problem or a computer problem, as I've checked these.

Hey, over the past couple of days my iPhone 4 (GMS, Model A1332, EMC 380B - running on iOS 7.1.2) has begun inexplicably intermittently not recognizing being plugged in to charge or being connected to my laptop. As of today, it has complete stopped recognizing being plugged in to charge or connected to the laptop.
If I plug it in to charge, whilst it is on, nothing happens and the battery drains.
If I plug it in to charge and turn in off, it will charge very very slowly - though it will charge fully after a long time.
When I connect it to my laptop, nothing happens - it doesn't appear in iTunes, and it doesn't charge or recognize being connected to the laptop (there is no charging symbol, no noise from either phone or computer registering the connection as it usual did, or another sign of any connection between the devices, though, again, it will charge very slowly if turned off).
I've ruled out the possibility of it being a cable problem, by using a friend's cable and finding that didn't allow it to recognize being plugged into the wall to be charged either, or being plugged into the computer.
My friend's cable does work on their own iPhone (ie, when plugged into the wall with their cable, their iPhone acknowledges this and charges properly, and when plugged into my computer with their cable both my computer and their iPhone recognize the connection).
So, it's definitely a problem with my iPhone itself, but I don't know what.
As I say, it will charge very slowly, if it's switched off whilst it's plugged in, but it won't acknowledge being plugged in, and will only drain if it is turned on whilst being plugged in - and it will not recognize being connect to my computer.
Please help me figure out what is wrong with it, as this is beyond annoying and I'm literally banging my head against the wall - the iPhone is little over a year old.
    Cheers.

  • My nano is fully charged and when I use the earphones it comes with, the nano stops playing my music after a few seconds and turns off.  But when I use another earphone, it's okay and stays on. How do I keep the nano from turning off after a few seconds?

I've tried everything in the article "Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista and Windows 7 video playback performance issues''. Here are my results.
    My computer meets the requirements.
All software (Windows, iTunes and QuickTime) are up to date.
As for updating my drivers, I found nothing labeled 'Video'. The closest thing I found in Computer/Manage/Device Manager was to click + next to 'Display Adapters' under that I found 'Intel (R) HD Graphics Family' which I right-cicked. From the menu, instead of 'Properties', I selected 'Update Driver Software...', then I selected 'Search Automatically for updated driver software'. I saw the messages "Searching for Software... Searching online for Software... The best driver software for your device is already installed. Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date." I got these same messages when I searched for updated audio drivers.
My computer is already at the highest display resolution. (1366 x 768 recommended) That's as high as my resolution will go. Hmm, I noticed the article's example shows '(1920 x1080 recommended)'. Is my max 1366 x 768 resolution high enough?
As for QuickTime, deselecting 'Enable Direct3D video acceleration' had no effect. Disabling the DirectX entirely (Safe mode (GDI only)) allowed the audio to play, but there was no video, only a black screen.
As for turning on DMA, the only item under 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers' is 'Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller' So I right-clicked, selected 'Properties'. There's no 'Advanced Settings' tab in there. The tabs are 'General, Drivers, Details, Resources' no 'Advanced Settings' anywhere. So much for that.
'Readyboost' was already set at 'Do not use'.
No 'NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA (SATA) controllers' exist in my computer.
The problem still exists. Please help.

my phone was fully charged and suddenly shut down and wont turn back on

    Hi there,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps for unexpected power off issues found in the article below.
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
    Issue not resolved
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
