Computer Gone Haywire- Please Help
So, I just got a macbook aluminum 2 weeks ago. 2.4 Hz, 4G RAM. This is my first apple product. I switched from a PC/windows laptop because I believed that apple makes a better product and has less problems than a PC.
During the last 2 weeks I unexpectedly got a few messages telling me that I needed to re-start, which I did. At that time I ran a First Aid check in Disk Utilities and there seemed to be no problems. I also noticed that iTunes would not quit unless I did a force quit.
Today, I tried to turn on the computer and after opening an application (internet), I got the same message that I needed to restart. So I did. After 3 times of the computer failing, it stopped turning on. After holding the power button, I get a grey screen (with apple logo) and the fly wheel spinning, and nothing else. So I tried starting up from the CD that came with it, went into Disk Utility and ran a verify disk. The following is what it said:
Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”

The option to repair the disk is grayed out so I can’t use it. Apple care had me run the exact procedure without any results. They told me that I have a hard drive problem. However, because the computer is only ~2 weeks old and it was working fine just yesterday, it’s hard to believe that’s what going on. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I am not currently in the US (and will not be back until Dec 2009) and shipping it home is going to very big major problem.

You need to boot the system from the installation disks that shipped with it. Then you can run Disk Utility from the menu (Utilities, if memory serves) and you should be able to get it to attempt to repair the disk.
If it will not successfully repair, you may wish to try a more sophisticated disk repair utility such as Disk Warrior from Alsoft. If that can't repair the drive either, or you don't want to pay for a repair utility, you can try reformatting the drive and reinstalling Mac OS X. This will of course erase all the data on the drive, so I hope you have a backup of any important data. But if the system won't work now, you won't be any worse off.
If reformatting the drive doesn't work either, then you probably have a failing hard drive and will need to get it replaced. Any Apple Store or authorized Apple service center should be able to perform the repair; no need to ship the system back to the US.

You have 10.6 on that machine, I suggest you stick with it for performance, third party hardware and software reasons as long as possible.
Consider 10.8 (not 10.7) when it's released, because 10.7 and 10.8 will require a new investment in software and newer third party hardware as it requires newer drivers the old machines won't have. (forced upgrade because of software, really nice of them)

Far as your Safari problem do these things until it's resolved:
1: Software Update fully under the Apple menu.
2: Check the status of your plug-ins and update (works for all browsers) also install Firefox and see if your problems continue. You should always have at least two browsers on the machine just in case one fails.

I have not been able to actually view anything I create with Java on my new computer. I have tried installing the latest update of Java but it didn't help. Sun Java was already installed on this computer.
I use Front Page to create web sites and have never had a problem before.
When I create a Java effect, I can see the Java Icon in normal view but as soon as I try to preview... nothing shows up.
The Java effects i created on my other computer show up on this computer...

You're both synchronizing Safari with iCloud while signed in with the same Apple ID. On one computer, sign out of iCloud in its preference pane and sign in with a different ID.

Ipad does not charge on being connected to a computer or itunes. please help

9 years of photos gone! Please help!
I have always uploaded ALL of my photos onto my work computer.... 9 years going on 10. Our tech guy realized my machine was never being backed up. The only connection I can make is they disappeared when he started backing up via Time Machine. I have tried everything I've been suggested to do on the forums and nothing has worked. It's as if everything dated before August 1, 2013 is gone forever. All of my files in my entire computer are still there, only Iphoto was affected. When I go into time machine to restore... the latest I can restore from is August 1, there are no backups before this date. Can somebody PLEASE help me??
Were the photos in an iPhoto Library? If so what version of iPhoto and system are you running? What do you see when you launch iPhoto to open your library? What size is the library as determined by the Finder?
There's a good chance that your image files are still in the library package but the library is damage and can't display them. Your answers to these questions will tell us how to proceed.

a update version of firefox came up.. tellingme to update to new version of firefox. So I did.. it loaded the current version. I always have my 'history' showing. (in the VIEW title on top of screen I go to SIDEBAR, and have history showing. It is on the lest side of screen at all times. Adobe flash player crashing my whole computer could anyone please help?

This is my problem:
The newest flash player crashes everytime I open certain web pages like failblog or tinychat which requires a webcam
I'm not sure what is causing it but it's only when i'm on those webpages that it crashes...
I can go on youtube kongregate steam and I can play tons of games the only thing I cant do is go on certain websites that messes with the newest version of flash for some reason...
I can use ANY other version of adobe flash and it won't crash at all but the problem with using the older versions is that I can't use my webcam on certain sites.
Will there be another update release for adobe flash that will fix this problem? The previous version was fine I don't know what was changed but will it get fixed?
And yes I have also been into the error logs but it doesn't show anything and the codes that it does show, people don't know what the hell it means lol just a bunch of binary number like data...I could post that but I doubt it would be of any help it's just a few short lines of numbers on each crash...I have purposely crashed my computer about 2 times to check if error logs popup and to see what is crashing the flash player but nothing changes in the crash log..
So to sum my problems up into a short paragraph....newest flash player crashes my computer when I go on webcam/webchat/certain websites with flash videos on it, also if I right click and try to tamper with the settings it also crashes my computer...I would like to know if there's a possible fix for this or will there be another update released anytime soon?
Please help and thank you for all future responses I will continue to use older versions of flash player till this problem is resolved, also on my newer i-7 620 processor 5850 ati laptop it crashes but rarely although I can use my webcam on msn on that computer but this is one has problems....Sorry I wasn't able to respond for a while I work two jobs so I really don't have time for this although I would still like to get this solved very much.
In the event viewer all it says is that there was an unexpected shut down.
I have checked and updated everything on both computers I tried to disable hardware acceleration and that still didn't change anything.
Sometimes when I try to just right click on a flash player and change the settings it crashes, if I try to load certain pages it crashes, if I try to use a webcam chat on a webcam site it crashes. Though I can still view other people's webcams in chat ex: tinychat I could be in there chatting away with some friends from across country and nothing will happen until I click webcam and flash player asks to allow, it will crash if I try to right click anywhere and that little flash settings popup it crashes.
All of this happens when I use the most current version of flash player any other previous version will not crash when doing any of this although I can't use my webcam since the website is running an updated version which is why I would like to get this problem fixed.
The new firefox update didn't help at all it still just freezes. There is no blue screen, no crash error report, no event log. The event viewer just says it was shut down unexpectedly.
I also tried uninstalling all webcam applications unplugging my webcam and that didn't affect it at all. I've done everything that people have been doing on here to solve there problems, I used the search button and tried options from various threads but none work for me.
I can do everything normally that requires flash player like play games, watch videos, and other stuff but it just crashes when I do those certain things as stated above. It's weird that there is no log, no anything just a freeze and I can't do anything to the computer i've tried letting it sit for about 15 minutes but it didn't respond. I used ctrl alt del after a while, alt tab, alt f4, holding down certain keys, holding the power button in for a while and nothing will happen. It just sits frozen untill I unplug it.
Is there anything I can do to get an error log of the crash since event viewer isn't working? -
Hello, this is my first post.
Well lately I've been experiencing some connection issues with my iPhone 5s. I was on my iPhone just watching Youtube when my iPhone 5s disconnected, I tried to connect again by going to settings> Wi-FI> and then select my network as usual, but the weird thing is that my Wi-Fi network has changed it's name to Wireless, it used to be Wireless710. Also the password has been changed.
My computer can easily connect due to the fact that it is hardwired to the Wireless Cable Modem Gateway.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate.

And now I am confused because when I open the small tab with the computer and a plug on the bottom right corner next to the speaker icon it says I'm not connected :/?! Here is a picture of it:
Note that I can not connect to it but am connected on my computer. It just disappeared on my phone and computer, I even unplugged my router waited for 20 seconds and connected it back in. Did it wok? for my computer yes again because it is hardwired, but my phone? No. Wireless 710 still won't show up. Is this a possible hack? If it was WEP that's about as secure as no encryption. It should be WPA or WPA2. There has been an exploit reported in Netgear and Linksys routers that allows someone connected to the router if Remote Access to the console is enabled to take it over and install spyware on it.
Is it your router, or the cable providers? If it is yours it has been hacked. If it belongs to the cable provider they may have changed it to make it more secure. Call them.
And if it has been hacked and is yours the best thing to do is to throw it away and get a new, more secure router. Or you can try reflashing the firmware by going to Netgear's site and downloading a clean copy. -

Hmm, and antivirus software could be scanning your iPod, and blocking it from being recognized by your computer. Try disconnecting your iPod, turning off your firewall/antivirus software, then try connecting it again.
I suggest resotring your iPod, by the way. This formats your iPod to this current computer. Wheny ou were mentioning "I don't have all my music backed up", remember that restoring only affects your iPod. Restoring should only delete the songs on your iPod, not in your iTunes library, though.
If you need help with transferring music from your iPod to your computer, backing it up, I'd be glad to help.
