Computer hard drive crashed and lost all photos
Is there a way to retrieve the photos from my iPod back onto my computer harddrive? The files that show up in the iPod photo cache on my hard drive are .thmb extensions and can't be opened by my system.
- If the photos were synced to the iPod they are gone
- If they were taken by or saved to the iPod gp to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and look at the date/time of the iPod backup. If it is when you synced then restoring from backup should get the photos back.
- If you had turned on Settings>iCloud>PhotoStream, then set up PhotoStream on the computer and get the last 30 days of photos from PhotoStream. You should also be able to get them back by simply turning one Photostream on the restored iPod.

My computer hard drive crashed and all my i-tunes were lost - can I re-load them from my iPod?
My hard drive crashed and destroyed all the i-tunes that I had burned from my CDs and purchased. The are still on my iPod Classic, can I load them on the computer, I have re-installed the i-tune program and the last purchase I made was re-installed, but nothing else. I don't want to sync my iPod, iPhone and Shuffle and lose them. What should I do?
Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the reloaded PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

Computer hard drive crashed and rebuild but lost itunes library.
My computer crashed from a bad hard drive. After I put a new one in and rebuild the Vista OS I attempted to sync my Iphone.
Itunes prompted my device is already tie to another library and gave me a option to erase and startover.
Is it possible to push the content from the Iphone library back to the itunes desktop? Or do I have to restart from scratch.
From googling I learn it is important to backup *.itl and will do so from now on.I just want to point out that it's important to back up C:\...\Music\iTunes\. This contains library data files as well as the music files themselves.

What can I do to see items that I have purchased but upgraded to iTunes Plus? They are not showing in my iCloud as purchased, but I still can see the original protected versions from old backups. The original was downloaded with my iMac but the computers hard drive has burned out and needs to be replaced.

Thank you.Thanks for the reply although I'm not too happy to hear it. What's awesome about the cloud is no longer having to keep up with any physical media. The promise of that is realized with everything else (my work, music, books) besides movies and TV.
I wonder how Google Play will handle movies/tv that becomes unavailable? Google Play does allow you to download media in some circumstances (on Android and iOS) but is generally intended for streaming. Maybe relying on a physical copy as I do with iTunes should make me more comfortable with it and not less.

i have a 3rd gen ipod nano the first ones with the camera. its a full 16 gb and i cant seem to figure out how to put my music back on my macbook. my macbook is also like 7 years old maybe more hence why it crashed.

My hard drive crashed. Lost Photoshop 11 software. When hard drive fixed, I bought and downloaded Elements 12. Trying to get photos in 12. All I have had for several hours are hour glasses. Photos are there if you click on hour glass, but cannot get photos to show up on the grid. What should I do?

I have a similar issue. My hard drive crashed, so I had a new one installed and I'm basically starting from scratch on my computer. My iPhone has a lot of my stuff on it (photos and music in particular). When I plugged into iTunes I did a "back up" of my phone to the computer....this transferred the photos in my camera roll, and music purchased through iTunes.
So....I still have a ton of photos (saved in folders, not my camera roll), and music (older stuff not purchased through iTunes) that I want to get to my computer. I am scared to "sync" my phone in iTunes for the first time.....if I do this, will it make my phone match my computer (effectively erasing the stuff on the phone?). What I want is for my computer to match my phone (thus transferring the additional photos and music). Is the third party software the only way?? Does it really work well/is it worth the money? I am looking for help and maybe someone can help me please. My hard drive crashed and dell installed a new one. I have two iphones and an ipad with all my apps, music, amd photos. Can anyone indicate me what to do so I do not lose everything when I plug in my phone. ThanksNaturally you should have a recent backup of your "crashed" hard drive. If you don't, well, hopefully you've learned a lesson but that doesn't solve your current problem.
If all your apps and media were purchased from the iTunes App Store, don't worry about them. Redownload all your apps and media, then allow iTunes to sync with and wipe your iOS devices - which will also put all the apps and media on them. You'll lose your settings, and any data which resided only on the iOS devices, and of course you'll need to organize your iOS folders and home screens and whatnot. But you won't really lose much, and without a backup this is your best choice.
If you have media from sources other than the iTunes App Store, look at Senuti or similar applications designed to copy media from iOS devices to computers. Use that first, then sync as I described in my second paragraph above. (I mention Senuti because it's popular. There are other options which work just as well, and some are even free.) -

My hard drive crashed and I had to wipe my computer. When I plug my iPod into my computer, it asks if I want to sync my (empty) iTunes account to my (full) iPod, but doesn't give me the option to put my iPod music onto my empty iTunes account. All I want to do is put my iPod's music back into my iTunes account, but can't figure out how to do it. I had some music backed up, but when I put it into iTunes, it won't play the songs (has an ! next to it) even though I purchased the songs from iTunes. I've tried authorizing my account, but nothing brings my old account back. Any help would be appreciated.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just this reason.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases -
