Computer is messing up on extensions.

When opening a certain file after downloading, quicktime opens. The file I want to open has NOTHING to do with Quicktime.
I tried deleting those certain files off my cache but it didn't seem to work. Any other suggestions?

When you click on the up/down arrows on the right side it should also say "other." Select that and navigate to the application you want to open the file.

Sorry, bud....didn't mean to confuse you. I plugged in my phone to my computer and uploaded 3 video files from the phone to the computer. The apps that I have on my computer (Windows Media Player, QuickTime, Irfanview, etc) will not play the files. The file extension is .3gp. I have associated .3gp with each one of the players and they just will not open a .3gp file. I downloaded several video converters to see if I could change the extension, but the converters will not recognize the .3gp extension either. I'm thinking that there is a codec (not really sure what a 'codec' is????) that is missing from the original phone files and my computer software(s) cannot 'unzip' the files. Guess I'm just screwed. I've tried everything I can think of.
Since my phone is dependant on Google, I thought maybe the Mobile Video Player Pro app would go thru my gmail and I would be able to copy it to my computer. Wrong!!! The app downloaded directly to my phone, so, 'screwed', again...lol.

I just recently bought Photoshop CC.
I'll be deleting my Photoshop CS4 off my computer soon. Is it possible to delete that off of my computer and instal it on a laptop?
I read somewhere that I can deactivate my Photoshop CS4 and then install it on another computer, however, I don't want to mess up the Photoshop CC.

The programs have nothing to do with one another, so just go ahead. And you don't have to uninstall, just deactivate. uninstalling potentially may break shared components like PDF libraries, so either just leave it in place or be prepared for having to reinstall CC.

Is it itunes or my computer thats messed up? ITUNES WONT OPEN!

my itunes used to work perfectly. then it stopped working so i reinstalled only to find that after using itunes the first time i opened it, it wouldn't open anymore. so i tried removing the program and installing it again. now it won't even open once. it doesnt show up in task manager, and there are no pop ups or anything. i've tried re installing it at least 4 times. and still nothing.
so i'm thinking it might be my computer thats screwed up?

When I connect my ipod touch to my computer it does not show up. Like when you plug in a flash drive a message pops up asking how you want to access the stuff on it. I know that it is possible for that to happen because it used to. I dont know if the problem is with my ipod or with my computer but it's weird.

I have a new computer, I want to install i-tunes so I can purchase more music, but I'm afraid to attach my i-pod to the computer, because I want the music already on it saved. If there are no restore points, it may be difficulty to restore.. If it is windows 8 you may look for windows refresh/reset.

Computer all messed up

everytime that i turn on my ibook it does not remember any of my preferences nor will it allow me to open some files although it will allow me to listen to music. but it does not recognize any external drive or cd. it still turns on but there's not much i can do. i am afraid that the hard drive is failing. any advice on what might be wrong?

Welcome to Apple Discussions
Do you just have one account? I suggest using Disk Utility on your install/restore discs to see the S.M.A.R.T. status. You have 10.3.9 right? If it says verified I would do an Archive and Install and see if that helps. Don't forget to back your hard drive up; its better to be safe then sorry.

Call the Apple Store or an AASP and ask them. No one here can answer that for you as this is a user to user forum. Plus you did not say how your computer is "messed up."
