Computer issue - green/purple pixels in videos before and after rendering and bios shutdown

I built a new desktop for editing video during the summer.  In the past week or two I've encountered some serious issues.
Ex. A:  http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8476/8374160517_0bb791f218_c.jpg
While  editing in Premiere or AE CS6 I've been getting these weird lines appear randomly.  If I close the program and re-open it, it'll disappear, and sometimes reappear at another point in the timeline. Really strange.  I also have active backgrounds enabled and green or purple patches of pixels will sometimes appear.  If I tell windows to go to the next background, the pixels usually go back to normal.
BIOS blue screen shutdown
I  could be watching vimeo or youtube or doing video editing and suddenly  get a shut down error.  It also happened while playing the CRYSIS demo,  although I had a perfectly smooth experience until that happened.
Here are my specs:
Windows 7 home premium
MSI 7751 mobo
Intel i7-3770S 3.10GHz
16GB G.Skills Ripjaw RAM
NVIDIA 560 Ti 1GB
500w PSU corsair
WD 1TB caviar black HD
Asus xonar audio card
128 GB sandisk SSD
Do  you guys think this is a graphics card or PSU issue?  My computer is next to a metal cabinet, but has plenty of room for air ventilation. The graphics card and CPU temps have generally been between 30-40 degrees  Celsius, and always under 50 C (even when rendering), so I doubt overheating is an issue.   Checked with HWMonitor.
ESET Nod 32 doesn't detect any viruses

>suddenly get a shut down error
What is the text of the error message?
Read Bill Hunt on BSOD http://forums.adobe.com/thread/772169
My best GUESS is that you have a power supply problem
>NVIDIA 560 Ti 1GB - 500w PSU corsair
According to some notes I made http://www.pacifier.com/~jtsmith/GPU.HTM the 560Ti draws 170 watts
Use the Power supply calculator http://extreme.outervision.com/index.jsp (the PRO version has more options) to determine your power supply needs
Even if the calculator says you are "somewhere" under 500 watts, you MAY simply have a "weak" power supply

  • IMac 2010 11,3 Green/Purple Pixels

    Hi Guys,
Been browsing the internet for ages, including the apple forums, and always come across similar issues, but never seem to fit mine 100%.
    I've got a 27" iMac 2010 11,3 i5.
Basically, about a year or so ago, it started to get these slight green and purple pixels on the screen, more square artifacts than anything else, but it was no problem, because if i'd 'select' them with the cursor, they'd go, as time progressed they've gotten worse and worse, to the point where they would take over the whole screen, again, a simple 'select' all of the screen would remove them for a short while, they never appeared doing anything specfic, but would be guarenteed to turn up.
The system now is only really usuable during Safe Boot, Under normal boot conditions, it will last between 15 seconds and an hour tops, Until it just hangs, the entire GUI is locked, however the Cursor will move, I've left it for a while to see if it will reclaim itself, but to no avail, the only option is to hold down the power until it shuts down.
Now, this only started happening after upgrading to Lion, I've since moved to Mountain Lion, and it still persists, So i decided to do an Apple Hardware Test in Extended mode, I received an error regarding the HDD, which was a 1TB Western Digital Drive, Don't get me wrong, it was slow, but it never seemed to give me issues, so I replaced the hard drive (No Apple care & out of Warranty), with a 2TB Seagate Model, Installed Mountain Lion, instant issues, Straight after succesful install.
I've since done several other Hardware Tests, and the only issue i get is the Hard Drive Sensor, Which I understand because of the 3rd Party hard drive.
So, within the last 3-4 weeks i've reinstalled, Re formatted, Zero'd the hard drive around 15 times, just to see if anything changed.
With Regards to the Safe Mode Boot, Its perfect, never get artifacts, never get a hang, nothing! Same goes for anything other than Normal Boot Conditions.
These pixels can be screenshot and still remain there! They also appear over Screen Sharing.
The system was bought for Graphic Design use, and thats what its needed for, But with it getting to the point of me only being able to work under safe mode, I've run out of options!
From what I know, someting under normal boot conditions is causing the issue, a kext maybe, but I've no idea on which one is causing the issue.
Even if i can get it working with something disabled/removed it's fine, But Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign are my work, and without being able to use them i'm pretty much limited!
I've obviously tried resetting the SMC/PRAM again, no changes, I've changed the RAM, bought new, swapped out, Nothing no changes.
The system is currently running 10.8.3.
One thing i did notice, is that the system often lasts longer before it hangs under the 64 Bit Kernel, rather than the 32 Bit Kernel (Not sure if thats expected or not but thought it would be worth a mention)
Thanks for all and any advice given in advance!
    Ethan.

    Hey,
Sorry for a delay in reply!
Well no, i never solved it, I've since stripped the machine and tried to see whats going on, and everything seems perfect.
A company has suggested its the graphics chip, and has offered to re-ball it, but i'm not sure on that yet.
But to add injurt to insult, hald of my display is now flickering every half hour or so.
I think i'm at a loss with it.
Only thing its being used for now is a Target Display Mode for a Mac Mini, which ironically works perfectly, and the hard drive is set up as a shared drive, So it's just a really expensive screen!
    Ethan.

  • Display issue: green, flashing pixels, low resolution on my new MBP 17"

I just bought my MacBook Pro 17" on December 2010 from Authorized Reseller in Dublin.
After couple of days for the first time and now every 2-3 days my MBP's display goes suddenly pixleated with green, shiny pixels and all display appears like low resolution. After closing the lid and opening it again the problem disappears. During that display problem my computer has no issue with performance like: video playing, opening and closing applications, rebooting, etc. Here are some screen shots made by my photo camera during this display issue: http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/809/dsc03872j.jpg http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6670/dsc03879x.jpg http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/7914/dsc03885z.jpg http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/3830/dsc03881g.jpg
I should mention that I also made a screen shot with Shiftcmd3 combination of keys during this display issue and it appears, as you can see http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/8618/screenshot20110123at204.png as it should be - sharp and clear. One of my friend said that maybe I should reinstall operating system, but my guess is that it isn't software (Snow Leopard) issue. By the way, I have all the latest updates.
Please, can you tell me what is the problem, what is causing it and what should I do?
    Thank you.

Ok, guys, I should update my main post about screen issues on my MacBook Pro 17" 2010 model, because it was quiet a big issue. It was actually problem not with display panel (which was completely replaced and which didn't resolved that screen issue at all) but with motherboard which has been replaced (by Mactivate).
After almost 3 months I can say that the computer had no issues since the repair: no screen issues, no noisy running vents.
I must say I am happy with repair made by Mactivate (actually one of few repair services authorized and recommended by Apple). They arranged the pick up with their own currier with no charge, great communication and most of all - they did everything to resolve this quiet unusual issue with my display.
I really and honestly can recommend Mactivate to anyone in Ireland.

  • I recently uninstalled itunes to fix other computer issues. I was told I was able to reinstall and through my apple account could retrieve all my music.. I just don't know how. Can someone please help me? Thanks

I recently uninstalled itunes to work on other computer issues. I was told I would be able to reinstall itunes, and through my apple account retrieve all of my music. I just don't know how to do that. Can someone please help me? Thanks!

okay, I figured it out. But for anyone else with this same issue. Open up your itunes. On the panel, on the left hand side, click downloads. It won't show your old stuff, but on the botttom right hand side, there will be a button you can left click that reads "download previously purchased" and everything shows. You just select all and confirm download. YAY! Glad  I got my music back :-) Hope this helps

  • PE7 - stop video from running after rendering text titles

    Hi gang,
When I add manual "sub-titles"  aka text titles to my videos, it works best when I render them as I'm going along with the ENTER key.    That's fine but the video then wants to KEEP start playing from the start and that's driving me bananas.  Can I turn this off?
Sorry, if this has been mentioned before.

    Hi Hunt,
Indeed, I would never want the video to playback automatically after rendering.
In PE7, it was exactly where you mentioned.
BTW - rearranging menus is part of the neverending game, that drives us all constant upgraders completey bonkers!!!  Just like how AVI export dissappeared and reappeared into SHARE in PE 7.   What a nomad! hehe
    cheerio!

  • Persistant troubles, before and after reinstall and formatting

Hi, I have a 2ghz Macbook Pro with 1gb of Ram.
Up until recently it was running the most recent version of 10.4, but one day recently a number of files were corrupted (not sure how many or how) leading to frequent startup troubles. I would start up and icons on the desktop would take longer to load, and some of them would be pixelated garbage instead of the normal icon. As well, several times it would log me out shortly after getting to the desktop and require me to log in again, after which things went 'normally', although several processes took longer than usual to run.
At first I booted up from a CD I tried running disk first aid to repair the disk and permissions. The disk checked out, but when I tried to repair permissions it gave me the error that disk first aid had lost contact, and that I should quit it and try again. This happened several times.
I attempted to upgrade to 10.5, having gotten the disk recently but not having installed yet. Halfway through the installation, a large amount of errors popped up and it was unable to finish the installation (I didn't write all the text down, I will try to record some later). Of course, after this there were more problems starting up as it only had about half of the system.
I dug out my old 10.4 disks, archived the 'new' system and restarted. I backed up important info onto my iPod and decided to do a reformat and reinstall starting with 10.4. After the format I also ran disk first aid, which found one permission to repair.
After this I restarted but got blue screens. Restarting in safe mode did not fix this. I restarted in single user mode based on an apple support article and ran a few commands (chmod and the like) and restarted. At the moment it still stalls on blue screens for a bit past the initial loading, but gets to the 'configure osx' presentation. However, once I try to select my keyboard layout as US, it hangs. I can change around the volume, screen lighting and move the mouse, but the application is no longer responsive.
Later tonight I will be attempting to reinstall 10.5 again, but at the moment any kind of further suggestions or input would be appreciated, in case it fails again. The disk I am installing from self-checks out by the way, so it doesn't seem to be that.

The HD is what I'm worried about, I can check the seating of the ram. I also ran Apple's hardware test earlier and everything checked out. Tonight I did a seven pass HD erase and reinstalled 10.4, then upgraded to 10.5. After the initial reinstall there were startup troubles, but it seems after the upgrade it is running smoothly for the moment.

  • What causes little green & purple pixels in iPhoto 6 photos?

I have a Power mac G5 and do extensive photo editing within iPhoto6. I have just over 10,000 photos in my iPhoto library (70% imported from hard photos via a scanner and 30% imported directly from my digital cameras). Recently, I noticed the thumbnail photos within iPhoto will show on about 25% of each photo a "swarm" of green and purple pixles. This does not happen every time I am in iPhoto6 - probably about 1/3 of the time. It is clearly an issue that presents itself exclusively on my photos in iPhoto6. It is not a problem with the monitor. A quick internet search generated info that this might be caused by problems in my computer memory or in the video memory card. I am a novice, so this is beyond me. Any idea what might be causing this, is it serious, and how do I correct it?
    Thanks,
    HDP

    HDP
Does this occur anywhere else except iPhoto? If yo view the files with Preview, for Instance? Is it just on the thumbnails in the iPhoto Window or the photos viewed at full size? Or vice versa?

  • CS4: Video moves down after rendering work area

My video is fine before rendering work area, but as soon as it's rendered, it moves down. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Here are some screeenshots.

  • Problems before and after Uninstall and re-install CS4

I went ahead and uninstalled and re-installed CS4 because of freeze ups and other difficulties. Program After Effects is now crashing - see attachment. There is also a problem with an importer plugin (I think) may be related. I can't tell. I have not tried any other projects. I did however, disconnect the Matrox MX02 Mini, but still had problems. The MX02 is now re-connected.
I wonder if installing CS4 on top of CS3 is an issue? I remember having a similar problem goiing from CS2 to CS3. I had to downloader a cleaning utility from Adobe (I think) to remove every bit of CS2 and then run CCleaner.
It's my own fault - trying to upgrade software and hardware at the same time. It's hard to isolate. For now, I'l just have to do with Premiere since it is working. But, I'd sure like to know what's going on.

Did you re-install all other Adobe products as well? If not, then that may be the problem. Uninstalling/ reinstalling only one of them messes with MediaCore and certain otehr functions. The quick fix is to download the manuala (!) update packages for After Effects, Premiere Pro/Encore and Adobe Media Encoder from the support pages and run them. This usually bends things in place. If not, then you will probably have to uninstall again, this time including every Adobe app, use the CS4 Clean Script and reinstall.

  • I just did an upgrade to the latest version (3.6.15) and after installation and restart of the computer I can"t get Firefox to work. Not sure if this a Firefox problem or something in Windows XP. Can any one help?

Received notice of a new version of Firefox and clicked to receive it. It downloaded and I did the install. After restarting the computer I could not get Firefox to open. Tried to reinstall again and had the same results.

What a waste of space to paste the code.
Why not ask in the iLife > iPhoto forum where your question belongs.

  • Video dimming/flickering after rendering or encoding

    Hello and thanks in advance,
I am trying to export a project in Premiere Pro CS5 and everytime I do (or render it in After Effects), the video flickers or dims momentarily when titles appear or when I have an overlaying .png image or video animation. I've tried playing with the export settings but nothing positive so far. Any suggestions?

    Here's some more details:
I'm viewing the export in the preview panel in After Effects or I will encode a portion of the project as a sample and then view it after...both with the same result.
I'm running CS5 with Windows 7, My source footage is .mov from a Canon Rebel T2i shot at 1280x720 with a frame rate of 59.94. I also have a couple of .png images in the project. The problem happens only during export and rendering, not during normal playback in the editing workspace.

  • HT3964 my computer displays only a blue light on the screen after booting (and rebooting)! How can I fix this?

There is a blue light on the screen of my mac book pro and the computer will not display anything! Does anyone have any advice/recommendations!?

For Safari you could try clearing its cache and history via Settings > Safari.
For Safari and your other apps you could close them all completely and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Date of video recording missing after "Log and Transfer"?

Hello, I am importing AVCHD video from Sony HDR-SR10. The clip item properties have not imported the dates when the video was recorded. It just has a date of Last Modified.
Is it hidden anywhere or can I add it to the file/clip?

    Hi
OR - there is a Paper and Clip solution - Tedious but working.
(At least with old SD-video from miniDV tape Cameras)
    A Double import/Capture is needed
    a. via FireWire - the full quality video (without meta data)
    b. analog out from Camera (set to show Date & Time) - to an A/D box and import
    this
(alt way Camera to a VHS/VCR then back to or via Camera to Mac)
Now put High quality sequence on track 1 and analog copy on track 2
crop analog copy on track 2 to show Date & Time Only.

  • Recover videos from iphone after cut and paste from windows explorer?

From windows explorer Iphone Internal Storage, I used cut to transfer 2 big videos from iphone to windows, but the videos are corrupted now in windows, and no videos in iphone! There is any way to recover them? thanks...

When you came across this case, you should be careful to recover Video on iPhone.
    1. Fish your iPhone out of the water as quickly as possible.
    2. Dry it off with a towel or something similar. If it is still on, turn it off immediately. Note: running power through wet electronics can damage them beyond repair.
    3. Remove the battery, SIM card etc off the phone. If possible, remove the rear glass panel too. Apple uses two special 5-point Pentalobe screws to secure the back.
    4. Grab a bowl and fill it with uncooked rice or you can also put your iPhone 5 in with a bunch of silica packets.
    5. Bury the iPhone in a bowl of rice and cover it up.
    6. Last step is: wait day or two.
The google+ teach you how to recover video from iPhone: https://plus.google.com/106752978783334975190/posts/RL9EhQcLgEx
After this, you may chech your iPhone, if it is damaged, you should recover lost file from iPhone, it may be recover, if you are lucky.
