Computer literate, networking illiterate

I'm hoping someone can help me figure out a networking issue, because everyone not versed in "Mac" has not been able to help me.
I have a 17" iMac that we bought when my youngest daughter was born almost 4 years ago. At some point during a storm our ethernet was fried and we could no longer connect to the internet hardwired. We purchased an Airport Express which we have had no problems with.
The issue now: we bought a new PC computer for the kids which we wanted to network with our Mac to share the internet with. I tried setting it up using the Airport, which the PC would connect with but not share the internet with. After talking at length with our ISP tech support, she suggested needing a router in order to assign separate IP addresses to the two computers. We purchased a Linksys E2000 Wireless Router but are unable to get it to work with the Airport. It keeps telling us "the internet cable is unplugged" when it is not. The modem is plugged into the internet port of the router.
As my subject mentioned, I am computer literate with both Mac & PC (my Dad worked in the computer business from the get go) however I am unfamiliar with all this networking stuff. (I personally never needed to network anything until now.) Any insight would be appreciated.

Based on what I see your ISP saying about its service, you have a wireless microwave antenna system mounted on your home that has a cable connected to the Motorola Surfboard modem. Normally that connection supplies service to one computer through an ethernet cable running from the modem to the computer.
When the storm fried the ethernet port on your iMac you added the AirPort Express to create a wireless connection. You now wish to add a PC wirelessly to the network. It appears from your comments that you have been trying to share the iMac's wireless internet connection with the PC, also wirelessly. Am I correct in understanding that?
If that is what you are doing that is not the approach to take with the equipment that you have.
1. The Motorola Surfboard modem should be configured to negotiate your internet connection with your ISP.
2. The modem should be configured to share that internet connection by DHCP over the ethernet cable with the AirPort Express.
3. The AirPort Express is a wireless router that can serve up to 10 wireless devices; Macs, PCs, iPhones, iPads, Xbox, etc. It should be configured to provide wireless connections over DHCP to wireless devices.
4. The Mac and the PC should be configured individually to connect wirelessly directly to the AirPort Express by DHCP. (They should not be configured to connect to one another wirelessly. If you have activated Internet Sharing on the iMac in Sys Prefs/Sharing, you should deactivate that.)
5. Any wireless security that you use on the wireless network needs to be configured to meet the more restrictive requirements of the Windows OS. The Mac OS should not have any issues connecting to a wireless network configured in this manner.

Under Network Preferences, select the WiFi
click on "Advanced..." button
Select the network you want to delete from the list and click on "-"
Click "Ok"
Click "Apply"
Well done ;-)
You may also want to delete the wireless key from Keychain.
Open Keychain, seach for the old wifi network name, slect it and click delete

HT5654 Help. A failed update to ITunes has stopped me gaining access to ITunes. "Error7 (Windows error 1114)". " R6034 C runtime library loaded incorrectly". What can i do? I'm not computer literate!

Today i received a prompt from Apple to download the latest ITunes update. I did so and received a message that the update had failed. Now i cannot gain access to ITunes on my computer or play any of my music files associated with ITunes. I just keep getting the following 2 messages:-
Itunes not installed correctly. Please reinstall ITunes. Error 7 (Windows error 1114).
Runtime Error. Program:c:\Program Files\ITunes\ITunes.exe. R6034 Application made attempt to load C runtime library incorrectly. Contact application's support team.
I have many tunes in my ITunes library & playlists which i do not want to lose. I am not computer literate and am afraid if i simply download the latest version of ITunes from the web, it may result in erasing those tunes.
Can anybody help me out please ?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Printer won't print from one computer in network

We have a family network and for some reason on of the computers no longer can print. The printer is a photosmart c7280 all-in-one. I uninstalled the printer and driver and then downloaded a new driver and installed it to the computer. The computer's network recognized the printer but nothing that is sent to the printer prints and i just get an error message but no reason why. The printer is physically connected to a x-p computer and the computer in question is running Vista. However, that shouldn't be a problem because this computer used to be able to print. I just don't know what to check to make sure nothing has been turned on or turned off on the computer so that the printer doesn't recognize this printer any longer.
Before i downloaded the new driver, i deleted the old one and now I have just discovered that after i reinstalled the driver, there is not printer listed in the windows device manager. The printer does show up in my network area tho and in the printer folder. i have no idea what's going on.

Is the XP computer connected to the C7280 via USB?
How is the C7280 connected to the home network?
How is the Vista computer connected to the home network? Can you open the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address?

You don't require Leopard.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.

If this is the case then no one can download the app. I considered that perhaps because it's still in Beta that it was removed due to some other type of software issue. Firefox will not appear in the Market for most phones with incompatible hardware. You can check if your phone is supported here:

Even on some supported devices, a bug in the Market software prevents Firefox from showing up. This may be related to the fairly recent Android Market app update. If you go to Settings/Applications/Market and choose "Uninstall" you can uninstall the update, and then search for and install Firefox from the marketplace.

Is there any way for me to reverse tether my ipad in order to yse my computer's network connection via usb?

Sorry but no, there is no way to use your computer's network connection via USB. If you cannot set up a WiFi network, either via a WiFi access point or through your computer, and cannot use 3G, there's no way I can think of that you will be able to get your iPad onto the Internet.
You can, of course, sync apps, media, documents, mail messages, address book contacts, etc. from your computer to your iPad via the USB cable.

There are no Mac drivers for the HP Officejet K60 printer. Therefore it is not compatible with the Mac operating systems. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. yesterday google told me this message "...computer or network may be sending automated queries...." now I Installed OSX Lion, deleted Firefox, reinstalled it, but now I get this message again. By now Google's Chrome and Safari work fine and no message appears in google. What can I do? I'd like to use Firefox...

It's unlikely that your Mac has malware that is causing this. It's possible that a Windows computer on your local network is infected with something. It's also possible that, if you're using a wireless network with no password that you have a "squatter" (a nearby neighbor) using your network, whose computer is infected. Lock down the network with WPA2 encryption using a good, strong password. If that's not it, note that the IP addresses used by most home networks are allocated from a pool of addresses, and may change at any time. So it's possible that someone who was infected with malware drew the attention of Google's algorithms, and then the IP addresses were reallocated and now you're using that IP address. You can try rebooting your cable or DSL modem, as that can give you a new IP address, if it's given a different one from the pool.
