Computer/Macbook can't detect Iphone

I've been trying to connect my iphone to my macbook but it just would'nt be detected. I have tried different cables and computers but my iphone is still undetectable. It pretty clear that its my phone that has an issue rather than my computer. Also, i was using a rather loose usb cable and it frequently detaches itself from the phone with slight movement. When it happens, ill receive some error message for unplugging incorrectly, is that a possible cause for this and what will be the solution for that?

but still my iPhone can't be detected by my computer
the problem is, my Windows can't detect the iPhone.
there's always a pop-up ballon that says "USB Device Not Recognized"
and my iPhone shows a picture that i have to connect USB to iTunes.
i tried to restart the iPhone too, but i still can't use my iPhone.
    I'm very depressed right now.
Were are you able to *Verify iPhone Driver/Service Installation*, as mentioned in the article I linked above?
Try restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service, as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567.
Also, what security software is running on the PC? If you haven't already, try to update, reconfigure, or uninstall it while testing. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125 provides additional tips that will help rule out security software issues.

  • Itune can't detect iphone 6 plus on wifi sync

    iTunes 12.0.1.26
Macbook Pro Retina, 13 inch, late 2013, OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
    iPhone 6 plus 64 GB, iOS 8.1.1
    iPad 2 64 GB, iOS 8.1.1
Both Wifi and Bluetooth turned on.
When iTunes launched, iPad2 is detected within 10 sec, whereas iPhone 6+ is not detected.
I can still detect iPhone for personal hotspot and handoff.
Of note, the continuity feature on Macbook Pro is not consistent - message does show up but not phone calls.
I tried restarting both devices, deactivating and activating the handoff features etc.
It never worked for me. When I bought iPhone it was already running iOS 8.1. Upgraded to 8.1.1 only few days ago.
    Kind regards.

  • Macbook can not detect any keyboards or mouses

My macbook can't detect any keyboards or mouses on the USB-port. USB-sticks or disks are no problem.
A week ago there was no problem connecting everything. So today I used a USB-hub to connect my devices and mybe this was the problem.
After connecting, the mac can't decect any keyboards or mouses also without using the hub.
    I tried:
    restart
    battery removal
    PRAM reset
    SMC reset
    But always no result.
    So what can help?
    Tanks.

I believe it has to do with my Airport Utility on my MacBook (since the problem occers since I upgraded to the latest version). Is there any way to reinstall this App?
EDIT: Sorry, I believe I need to read this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2644274&tstart=0

  • MacBook can't detect WiFi

    Dear forum members,
I know that this problem is discussed in several other threads and also on other fora. However, the WiFi-problems vary in such a way that I cannot completely relate to them.
    The problem:
My macbook cannot detect our own WiFi network. It can detect other WiFi networks.
The strange thing is: we have one Windows laptop, 2 Iphones and 1 Ipad which all 'see' and connect to our WiFi network.
    Some specifications:
    - In a desperate attempt to fix the problem I have erased the HD and did a fresh installation of Lion OS. The same problems still occurs. (please no discussion on whether a fresh install is necessary on Mac's)
    - The laptop has been connecting to the same WiFi for almost a year without any problems.
    - Nothing apparent has happened in our home network that I can think of.
    - It concerns a macbook from 2008 with a fresh Lion OS installed on it.
    - The WiFi network is WPA2 protected.
    - The laptop is able to connect to our router by using a normal cable.
I am Dutch, so my apologies in advance for any grammar or spelling mistakes.
Edit: sometimes the WiFi is visible but when I try to connect, a time out error occurs.
    Michel

I don't have any solution but you may get a better response on the wireless community.

  • Got a new computer, and can't sync iPhone anymore.

There is music currently saved on my phone that I had in a previous version of iTunes. I transferred all of the music and re-downloaded iTunes when I got a new computer. However, the new version of iTunes doesn't recognize the songs that were already on my iPhone. I can't add new music because I am out of memory, but I can't use iTunes to delete the old music because it doesn't recognize the audio files. Is there a way to delete those files (aside from deleting each individual song maunally)?

You need to transfer the iTunes library from your old computer to your new one.    It sounds like you only moved the individual songs, not the library itself

  • Computer crashed can't backup iphone, HELP

OK, before people start posting on how could you do that and you always need to this or that's not apple's fault..I know, I know.
My computer crashed all together, didn't bother replacing the hard drive because it was time for a new one. It took some time to pick out the one I wanted and a few days prior to bringing my new laptop home, my iphone went swimming in a glass of water. The iphone was fried and I lost everything on it. My issue and question is now that I have a crashed hard drive which data can not be accessed and a soaked crashed iphone, is there a way to retreive my backups? I did routinely backup/sync my iphone on itunes, I never used a third party program for backup just itunes. I had heard that apple will do a one time download of my stored data back onto itunes on my new laptop which I can then authorize and sync to my new iphone???? Please help, I had over three years of pictures, sms, notes, songs, videos, and contacts..(honestly music/video isn't as much of a concern as the rest). Thanks for you help.

If you could retrieve the backup files from the hard drive you say failed, you might be able to retrieve those items by restoring from it.  Without the backup that is on your dead hard drive, there is NO WAY to magically get this stuff back.  THE BACKUP ONLY EXISTS on that hard drive. NOT in the cloud.  If you don't have access to the physical backup files created the last time you synced and backed up with iTunes, then there is no way to get it back.

  • Macbook can't detect external display via DVI cable

I just bought Samsung PX2370 monitor and attempt to connect it with my Macbook Aluminum (late 2008). I have mini display port to DVI adapter and DVI cable. When I hook up my Mac, nothing comes up. The screen on macbook goes blue briefly and then back to normal, but nothing has been detected. I've manually set the source of signal to DVI, and tried to use Detect Display but nothing happens. Even I try to detect the monitor by using Windows 7 (via bootcamp), the display remains idle.
I had tested the monitor using DSLR although by HDMI, it work.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey hparekh and welcome to the forum -
It looks like you have the correct hardware. You should check your connections... make sure your using the Mini DisplayPort and not the Ethernet port (common mistake) and all of the connections are plugged completely. Make all of your connections with your MacBook on and then turn your Dell on. You might need to go through your Dell's setup to make sure that it's recognizing a DVI input rather then HDMI.
Might be a bad DVI cable or a defective monitor or maybe a bad Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. Are they all new products?

There is the interesting new thing called "the internet". Instead of wandering around aimlessly in this limitless expanse of data, I use a search engine to help me sift through the mass of information and find very useful stuff. My current favorite search engine is Google. When I type in "firewire 400 vs 800" into it's "search" window and hit "return", I get all sorts of useful information. Listed below is just one hit in the list of relevant material.

  • IPhone hangs while syncing, iPhoto can't detect iPhone

    Hello,
I am a first time poster (be gentle
My iPhone has worked perfectly since August. Last week i plug in to sync. It appears in the sidebar of iTunes. I press sync. Starts with "backing up iPhone" dialogue then progress bar in iTunes stops. Same time iphone lets out a tone. Spinning wheel starts on screen of iPhone. Another tone. The freezes.
If I disconnect from USB cable, the screen goes blank, then Apple symbol comes up. After a few minutes I am back to normal operation.
    Additional info:
This also occurs if I just plug into a USB cable connected to another Mac to charge battery (rather than sync).
Also, I have iPhoto set as default app for pics and movies on iPhone. iPhoto does not recognize the iPhone when I plug it in via USB.
    I would be keen to:
    a) know if anybody else is having this problem.
    b) get any suggestions as to what might be going on inside my iPhone to make it behave like this.
    c) get any suggestions as to what steps I should take to fix this.
Any help much appreciated in advance,

    AMAZING !!!!!
Thank you Wjosten. Thank you, thank you.
I have been to a Genius Bar with this....their suggestion, full reformat, reset, start again.
Never had such a quick response that works, and something so simple. Truly amazing and you are a real life saver.
Can you give details on why exactly photos downloaded from Safari would create this effect?
Mine are all gone now and I will avoid that practice until I know more
Again, many thanks. Very much appreciated!

  • MacBook can't detect AirPort Express

I have a MacBook 2.4 Ghz which is about 6 months old. I have a Netgear Super G wireless Modem router which I have been experiencing some problems with (does not always connect to MacBook or my older PC). So I bought an Airport Express which I have plugged into an older, more reliable Netgear wired modem router. I want to use the AirPort Express as a wireless transmitter for the wired router. However no matter how I seem to set it up, my mac can't connect to the AirPort Express and the light on it blinks Orange. I know that the router is Ok because I have plugged it straight into my Mac and it works fine.
I tried to do the same with my Wireless Modem/Router and the Airport Express light turned green and it appeared in the airport utility application. However when I turned the wireless transmitter on the router off I was unable to connect to the AirPort Express again.
I have tried to set it up in several different ways (as a bridge or as a new network etc...) and soft/hard/factory resets but nothing seems to work. So I took the AirPort Express back to the shop and exchanged it as faulty only to find that the replacement is exactly the same.
Am I missing something here? Should the AirPort Express connect to the Mac straight out of the box without connection to the internet? Or does it need an internet connection before it is visible in the AirPort Utility? Can it act as a wireless transmitter when connected to a wired modem router by ethernet? If so, how do I set that up?

I want to use the AirPort Express as a wireless transmitter for the wired router.
Mine is set up that way and works fine.
Should the AirPort Express connect to the Mac straight out of the box
Not for what you want to do....
1.) Plug the Express into a wall socket and connect an Ethernet cable from your MacBook to the Express.
2.) Open System Preferences -> Network and set a Ethernet Only connection (turn off all connections except Ethernet.
3.) At this point the Express will show up in the Airport Utility. (If it does not show up, use the reset button to return to factory defaults)
4.) Open Airport -> Wireless and set up a simple (Open, no security) wifi network.
5.) Apply and restart the Express
6.) Open Internet and set up DHCP addressing for the Express.
7.) Apply and restart the Express.
8.) On the same page - at the bottom - set the Connection Sharing to OFF (Bridge Mode).
9.) Apply and restart the Express.
10.) Unplug the Express from the wall, and turn off the wired router. Move the Ethernet cable from the MacBook to the wired router. Restart the router and then restart the Express.
11.) WAIT - go have a cup of coffee. Sometimes my Express takes two or three minutes to obtain an IP address and go from orange to green.
12.) Open the Macbook, go to System Preference -> Network. Create and Airport Only location (turn off Ethernet, Bluetooth, etc - all other connections)
13.) Connect to the wifi network created by the Express. Again, wait. The Macbook has to first connect to the Express and then the wired router has to recognize the request for an IP address and assign one. (Second cup of coffee maybe.)
14.) At this point, you can open Airport Utility and change the wifi network to a secure hidden network or any wireless configuration that you prefer.
PS Took me a long time and many attempts to figure this all out but my complex little home LAN works just fine now.

  • ITunes 12 can't detect iPhone 5 device

I've been connecting to the iPhone fine for days but ever since the iTunes 12 cam out my Mac can't find my iPhone. It may not be able to find any other similar devices but all I have is an iPhone, no iPad or iPod or anything. The keyboard and mouse through another USB port work fine.
Yes I've tried turning both the MAC and the iPhone off and on again separately a couple of times. It's not asking me to verify "whether I trust it".
The only temporary fixes I've found involve reverting to iTunes 11. However, all the guides for this strongly recommend backing up first. I don't have a MAC formatted hard drive to back up to and so this would take a couple of days to do as I'd need to obtain one. No fix at the moment and it's just stopping me from doing any development because XCode also relies on iTunes for finding devices.
    OSX 10.9.5
    iPhone 5 MD298B/A
    iOS 8.1 (12B411)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26
    Thanks in advance
    Ben

    If you are using Mac:
01- Quit iTunes 12 and unplug your iPhone.
    02- Download iTunes 11 at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1774
    03- Download Pacifist http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/6812/pacifist
    04- Hold down ( Command + Shift + G ) and a screen will pop-up.
    05- Key in this ( ~/Music/iTunes/ )
06- Find a folder called ( iTunes Media ) and move this folder into your Desktop. Do not delete this. This is your music library.
    07- Launch your Pacifist app.
08- Open your downloaded iTunes 11 but don't install.
When you opened your downloaded iTunes 11 you should be able to see 2 files,
        ( Read before you install iTunes.app ) file and ( Install iTunes.pkg ) file.
09- Drag the ( Install iTunes.pkg ) file to Pacifist.
10- Now you need to uninstall your iTunes 12 by using sudo code.
Go to open your Terminal app.
               Type this: sudo killall iTunesHelper
Hit Enter/Return and ( if you have password it will ask you to key your password )
Type this: sudo rm -r /Applications/iTunes.app
                     Hit Enter/Return
11- Now go back to your Pacifist screen.
Select this ( Contents of Install iTunes.pkg ) and then click ( Install ) on top of the Pacifist menu bar.
12- You should see a message pop up and asking you if you want to install with Admin's privilege? Click ( Yes ).
Another screen will ask you if you want to replace the files.... Select ( Yes ) to replace all the files.
    13- Hold down ( Command + Shift + G ) and a screen will pop-up.
              Key in this ( ~/Music/iTunes )
                   Delete this file ( iTunes library.itl )
Now move back your folder ( iTunes Media ) that you moved to your desktop.
14- Close all the screens now.
15- Open your iTunes 11. It should be at your Applications.
16- Plug in your iPhone and your iPhone should be appearing on your iTunes 11.
    17- If yes, do a back-up.
After finished back-up now check your iTunes for updates and you can go ahead to update your iTunes to iTunes 12 and
everything should work like normal again.
Please let me know if this help!
