Computer nor Itunes recognizes Ipod
While my Ipod was updating the usb was pulled out of the computer. My computer nor Itunes recognizes the Ipod Video (30gb) and my Ipod won't turn on either even when the hold button is off. If anyone knows how to deal with this thing. Please help (I have to go on a trip for Christmas Vacation).

i connect the ipod to the usb cord,,,fine fine,,,windows makes a beep noise like it knows that i connected something...except the beep noise is a double instead of the classic single "dong" sound. the ipod does not make any change,,,like the "do not disconnect" message does not show up, just the regular menu.

Why won't it recognize?
iCloud is free, iTunes match is $25 a year.
I had the same problem and when I went to Settings I had 0 songs, even though they were obviously still there since I only had 15GB free on my 64GB device.
I decided to do a complete reset/restore of my 4th gen iPod Touch, Bad move! I've been messing with it for hours, and it simply won't restore--it keeps hanging on a black screen with an Apple logo and a progress bar at about 10%, sometimes it goes completely blank and tries again, with the same result. (I've posted my question/plea for help here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19735862 )
I'm ready to bang my head against the wall! I can put the device in recovery mode, connect to iTunes on my computer, and get it back to the setup screen, but when I go through the process again and try to do an iCloud backup I get the same reset/restore loop.
I could start from scratch, but I really, really, really don't want to go through all of my hundreds of apps, reinstall them one by one, etc. etc. etc.
I thought that once I started using iCloud, I didn't need to sync with iTunes anymore--guess I was wrong. -
i can know longer see my IPOD connected to my computer. My IPOD is functioning fine... even can play on my docking system. Trying to add more songs.
try a different usb port, or try the wall charger, change ipod usb wire, turn ipod on to see if the low battery screen pops up by holding onto the switch above the ipod. try that stuff

Windows recognizes USB device but neither it nor iTunes recognize iPod
I just got a iPod shuffle this morning and tried to install it. When I first installed the software and restarted, I plugged in the shuffle, iTunes opened, and the iPod appeared on the iTunes menu. Immediately thereafter, however, a message popped up on my screen informing that Windows had recognized new hardware, installed it, but needed to restart. I restarted. Since then I have not been able to get iTunes to recognize the iPod shuffle. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the iPod software and iTunes several times, and followed all the tutorials I could on the website. Now I am actually afraid I have messed something up by deleting the uninstall file for iTunes somehow... so I can't seem to uninstall or reinstall anymore.
Anyway, regardless, I wouldn't care about uninstalling iTunes again if it would just recognize the shuffle.
I should also add that when the iPod is plugged in, the iPod blinks with the Amber light (signifying disk mode??) and Windows still recognizes a USB device... If I go to device management it even called it an "Apple iPod Device" but I can't seem to get any other recognition of it.
Dell Windows 2000Did you ever get an answer?
My Shuffle is flashing Amber/Green (Disk Mode).
I tried removing then reinstalling iTunes and the iPod
updater. I start the updater then plug in the Shuffle.
Windows recognizes the Apple iPod USB Device. Then
everything freezes. The updater freezes. If I use
task manager to kill the process, I still can't eject
the USB device from Windows. If I try to shut down,
the computer hangs. I have to hard reboot the system.
This is a catch-22. How do you use the updater if the
computer doesn't really recognize the Shuffle? By the
way the same thing happens if I try to use the updater
from my laptop.

HT1386 neither my computer nor itunes recognizes my iphone?
Just purchased a new iphone 5. When i connect to my laptop or desktop, the only prompt that appears is to "slect the program to launch for this action" and it gives me the options of......microsoft office word, photoshop, microsoft office document imaging, windows live photo gallery.... and a few others. But nothing even closely resembling an actual iphone. As a result, when I click on itunes, my iphone does not appear at the devices tab or anywhere else. Any advice? Do I have to download three or four hundred software packages (probably have to pay for them all) to make this thing work?
Sounds like youre using a windows computer, are you running the latest version of iTunes? if not, download the latest (which is free) and that might fix the issue.

Neither my computer nor iTunes recognize my new nano. I've tried the troubleshooting suggestions on this site. I've reinstalled iTunes many times. Every now and then I could reset the nano and iTunes would state it needs to "prepare to restore" it. I've even left it connected overnight hoping the process will complete. Nothing worked. However, I tried connecting it to my friend's computer, and both the computer and iTunes recognize the nano. I tried it again at home, but neither my computer nor iTunes recognize it. Please help!
I'm having this issue as well. I updgrade my CPU to one with Windows 8. At soon as I connect my iPod Classic, it connect momentarily & then immediately eject it.

Shuffle not recongnized by computer nor itunes. I have a brand new edition of itunes.
Hello obks1984
Check out the article below to troubleshoot issues with your iPod shuffle not showing up in iTunes. Also make sure that you have the cable plugged in completely to your iPod Shuffle and not just slightly pushed in.

Neither my computer nor iTunes sees my phone...phone froze on the download screen when iTunes attempted to update. I can't restart or turn off phone. Any ideas anybody?
You could use a third party app on your computer, that uses the iPhone as just an external disk.
There are several like iExplorer, Diskaid, Phonedisk, etc. -
Computer won't recognize iPod in iTunes or Finder
So I'm going batty trying to figure this out. I recently purchased a fifth generation 30GB refurbished iPod through Apple. I think it's one of the earlier models. I am running on OSX 10.2.8 with iTunes 6.0.5 (because that's the latest version my OSX will allow me to run).
When I connected it to my computer and allowed it to charge, it appeared in my iTunes and everything worked fine. I used it for about a week after with no problems.
When I plugged it back into my computer in order to charge it and update it with some new songs I had downloaded, my computer wouldn't recognize it. The menu screen on the iPod flashes the "Do Not Disconnect" icon, but it doesn't appear in either iTunes or in the Finder.
I have tried the 5 R's like it said on the troubleshooting support page, but it hasn't done anything.
So what's the deal?? It was working, and now it's not. What gives??
Powerbook G4 Titanium Mac OS X (10.2.x) 550 MHz Power PC 256 MB RAMYou can try to put it on Recovery mode then restore it..
Press or Hold the power and home keys 10 seconds.
Screen goes black, now release the power button
Make sure you do not release the Home key until
your iTunes says "We have detected an itouch
in recovery mode."
After this its simple all you
got to do is a simple restore using your iTunes -
Itunes and computer does not recognize Ipod USB connection
First off, I know this has been discussed over and over, but I am not getting any difinative answers so, I will start a new post. I have a Ipod mini and have had it for some time without any problems. Recently I added new music to Itunes and wanted to transfer it to my Ipod, but when I connect the USB cable it does will light up the screen to let me know that it has been connected, but it will not update the ipod and itunes will not recognize it and only a few times has it even charged the battery. I have tried to update itunes, update ipod (which didn't do any good since it is not being recognized), restored my ipod with play/menu, tried different usb outlets, and today I am going to get my sister's cable and try it. What am I doing wrong?!?!?!? I am going crazy about this. Thanks for any other suggestions.
Finally, I got it to work again. This is what I did. I doubt this is what changed anything but I reset all of my settings back to factory settings on the Ipod as far as backlight, shuffle, ect. I don't think this is what helped, but who knows with these things. Then I plugged it into the computer and it did show that it was charging (usually it did not even recognize enough to charge). Then I tried a different USB cable from my sister's Ipod and the first thing it did was ask to update Ipod and I did (I had to to plug it in to the wall to complete update) then I plugged it back in my computer and it finally worked! My husband thought I was an idiot because I was cheering every time it recognized something until I was basically jumping up and down when everything was updated. For now everything is back to normal so I love my Ipod again. Although my sister will get my old USB cable back seeing that she dropped her Ipod in water and hers does not work at all. Which reminds me to start another post about that. Thanks for all the support.

ITunes can't connect with iTunes Store & Computer doesn't recognize iPod
When I put my iPod in the USB-port, it is recognized by my desktop for a short time as "Lucas's iPod", then, after like 20 seconds it turns to removable drive en than it just dissappears out of My Computer, so iTunes says it can't sync it because it can't find the drive (= the iPod). I searched for solutions, tried the 5 R's several times, nothing works and I'm desparate. I tried to Authorize my Computer in the Store menu in iTunes, by clicking Store > Authorize Computer > Fill in Apple ID and password. I did that, but when I clicked Give Authorization, it says (In Dutch, I tried to translate it as well as I can): iTunes cannot connect with the iTunes Store. The networkconnection has been refused. Check if the networksettings are right and if the networkconnection is active. Then, try again.
I don't know what is meant with my "wrong networkconnection". My internet works beautifully, I can use everything, but only iTunes won't work. Why is the networkconnection being refused? I'm getting crazy because I have my Ipod for almost 2 months and I didn't take it out of my house or even use it one time! Please, please, please help me!
