Computer not Recognizing Flash Player

All was working well on my computer until last Friday night. I tried to watch a video on Hulu, and the site told me that I needed to download the Flash Player, which I thought was already on my computer (just the night before I was able to watch videos on Hulu with no issues, meaning the Flash Player was properly installed). Anyhow, I did, in fact, download the latest version of the Flash Player, but I still get the same message (download the Flash Player) whenever I go to any site that requires it. Adobe Flash is NOT showing in my list of installed programs even though I downloaded if. That said, when I go to the area in my computer to remove programs, it IS showing as being there for removal. I have removed it and reinstalled it several times, still with no luck.  I therefore cannot watch any videos. Is anyone having this same problem, and, if so, have you found a solution? Thanks. BB

  • Installed Adobe Flash Plug-in Player many time,Safari5.1 not Recognizing Flash Player

I have asked and requested for help for my last  Safari 5.1 Problem and I did get some help but the person didn't finish helping me or didn't answer my questions the second time around, I am hoping that I get a complete and full help and answers to my other Problems that I am still having with Safari 5.1 on my Snowleopard.
My Continuing Problem that I am having is; when I had updated my Snowleopard to Safari 5.1 I was having a Flashplayer Plug-in problem so I updated to the new current Adobe Flash Player, after doing the update, My safari 5.1 isn't recognizing the Flash Player Plug-in whenever I go to a web site that uses or has a embeded Flash Plug-in in it Safari doesn't reconize the installed Flash Player Plug-in and doesn't play the embeded Plug-in on the web site, I have installed the Flash Player several times I even installed the Shockwave Plug-in Player that too hasn't helped Safari 5.1 to recognize the Flash Player Plug-in.
After installing the Flash Player Plug-in Safari 5.1 How come Safari isn't Recognizing my Flash Player?
Does anyone have any suggestions that can help me solve this Problem and get Safar backi to start recognizing the Flash Player Plug-in again?
If anyone can help me and has a solution to my Problem and I have more questions will that person please get back to me? The other person didn't get back to me when I had more questions from my last Problem and my last problem still isn't solved.

Tisha, I too get quite bent out of shape when not a single soul in this forum gives me the courtesy of a reply.  It's especially bothersome to me since I know that many literally "live" in this forum only to answer questions and rake up thousands of "points" to show off.  And yet, when a really tough question comes, no answers are to be found.
Although I don't have the solution you're looking for, I would like to chime in with my own Safari 5.1 experience in hopes it can help you better decide on what to do (which may be to downgrade to an earlier version of Safari or use Google Chrome instead).
You are using Safari 5.1 under Snow Leopard while I am using Safari 5.1 under Lion.  You have a problem whereby the Flash plugin doesn't load at all, whereas the problem I have is that the Flash plugin loads but is basically unusable.
When using Safari 5.1 and the latest version Flash plugin under Lion, my web pages partly lock-up or freeze after I display Flash video content.  Specifically, I cannot scroll up or down by using gestures on my Apple mouse.  And after using gestures to scroll up or down if I then resize the browser window, suddenly the place that I scrolled to (and couldn't see originally) appears.  I have to quit Safari 5.1 and relaunch it to get it working again.  But if I encounter another Flash object, the same partial lockup occurs again.  I am using Click-to-Flash to allow me to continue using Safari, but every now and then I forget that this problem will occur and I click to view a Flash video and it locks up again.
I have installed the latest version of Flash player, but to no avail.  It's a very serious problem that did not happen in Safari 5.0 under OS X Snow Leopard.
Furthermore, if I switch to Google's CHROME or another browser under OS X Lion, I do not have this problem at all.
What this means is, even if you are able to get the Flash plugin to load in Safari 5.1, will your web pages lock up as they do in my case?  In any case, I believe it shows that Mr. Job's hatred of Flash in general has led Safari engineers utterly ignore how the new Safari 5.1 plays with Flash.  It's a travesty and an absolute crying shame.  I say this as someone who is not necessarily a fan of Flash.  But until Flash is completely dead on the web, Apple should support it on their desktop computers under any flavor of OS X.  To avoid doing that is nothing more than a slap in the face to all owners of Mac desktop or notebook computers.  And having owned a Mac since the 128k in 1984, I don't say these words lightheartedly either.

  • Firefox not recognizing flash player 10.1.82.76 update

Hi, I have a problem installing the latest flash player update on my firefox browser. I got the the installer page (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/) and I install everything and follow all of the instructions, and flash player installs successfully, but it says it installed version 10.1.53.64. I've tried uninstalling the previous version with the instructions on this page (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html) several times, but it still shows the flash player version on the site, which means it wasn't uninstalled. I've also tried using the stand alone installer after disabling the adobe getplus plugin in firefox, but it still shows flash player version 10.1.53.64 as my current version in firefox plugins. However, I installed the flash player 10.1.82.76 update on to Internet Explorer 8 without any problems, it's just Firefox that I'm having trouble with. Thanks for the Help.

I play Farmville on my laptop and yesterday that I unpacked my new iMac, I was not able because it does not have Flash Player.
I tried to download it, but it would not let me.  Is iMac not compatible with Flash Player?

Adobe Flash Player version 11.1.102.55 works great on all my Intel iMac's.

  • Firefox will not allow Flash player to work. How do I enable Flash to work in Firefox? Thank you.

    Question
Firefox will not allow Flash player to work. Every site that uses Flash player gives me a message saying that I need to update to the latest version of Flash player, but I have done so, and I keep getting the same message. How do I enable Flash to work in Firefox? Thank you.

You can hold down the Shift key and double click the Firefox desktop icon to start Firefox in [[Safe mode]].

  • Why does not Adobe flash player for iPad ,This is a very big problem

Why does not Adobe flash player for iPad ,This is a very big problem ,I do not know why Apple is so Popular

but Adobe is, in fact, continuing to update Flash for Android.
Only essential bug and security fixes. No new feature updates have been released for 2 years.
Of course we have those who wish fervently that the lack of Flash supprt will damage Apple severely and obsess about it all the time.
I thought they'd realised it was a lost cause ages ago... they mostly seem to have disappeared from this forum, at least...

This is a user to user forum, and Apple does not follow these discussions. But here is what Apple says about not having Flashplayer on iDevices:

  • Why do iPhones/iPad not support Flash Player/Java and what are my alternatives for browsing sites using these plug-ins?

Why do iPhones/iPad not support Flash Player/Java and what are my alternatives for browsing sites using these plug-ins?

There are also iSwifter, Photon, Skyfire, etc., some only support Flash some support Java and Flash.
Adobe never made a version of Flash for iOS and closed their mobile flash division a couple of years ago. You can get Flash on other personal devices but you will be using a 2 year old version that has not been patched for security vulnerabilities.
When the original iPhone was released Mr. Jobs said it would never run Java as it was old technology and a security risk. Nothing has changed since.

  • Why does the iPad not support flash player? I would like to watch programming from att uverse but cannot because of this restriction

Why does the iPad not support flash player? I would like to watch programming from att uverse but cannot because of this restriction

Because NOTHING that is iOS supports Flash. Never has never will.
The only possible option is to try the Skyfire browser from the App store. It is an internet browser that converts flash to HTML 5 so that you can attempt to view it on iOS devices.
I have never tried it so I can tell you if it is any good, but it has gotten decent reviews.

  • Ipad does not use flash player.  What are my options?

What are my options since ipad does not use flash player?

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash. Adobe is not providing Flash for Apple iOS devices, and they no longer provide Flash for any other cellular phones. Flash is officially gone.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
A sample of Apps that can display some Flash content:
      1. Puffin
      2. SkyFire
      3. Photon Flash
      4. Browse2Go
      5. Swifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • Captivate 5.5 player won't open. Not recognizing Flash

I created a movie in Captivate 5.5, published it and tried clicking on the player file to open and review it. I got this  message.
I have Flash 11 installed on my computer.
    My files look like this.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi there,
You can select the program as Internet Explorer or any browser if you have installed Flash player already. (.swf can be opened in a browser if flash player is installed)
Projectname.htm file is also calling the projectname.swf file, so the .htm file will also work for you.
If you need a stand alone flash player, then you can install Flash player projector from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    Thanks.

  • I have a Mid 2009 Macbook Pro 13 with no restore disk; it has OS 10.8.4 I believe there is something wrong with the OS due to I can not install flash player to view Youtube videos and the when we plug in a Bose headset the sound out will work sometimes

I bough a used Macbook Pro mid 2009 that came with OS 10.8.9 it didn't have a backup restore disk with S/N W8******66D
When trying to view some youtube videos; a window would pop up saying "it needs adobe flash player is required for video play back get the latest flash player" but after downloading the file and during installation would have errors and will not installed.....tried to reboot and install again.....but still the same.
The othe thing I had noticed is when using a good Bose headset with mic the sound output would noticed the headset and then switch from headset to Internal speekers and headset.....thinking that there might be something wrong with the plug in port of the computer or the headset.....the headset works with no issues on my iPad so there must be something wrong with the computer.....tried to move the plugin around the port but no change....while the headset is plug in can hear a short clicking noise and the sound would get lost and back again......but with nothing plugin to the port there is no issue with the sound or mic.
Thanks for your feed back......it looks like I have two different issues one is a software issue and the outher is a hardware issue
    <Edited By Host>

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

  • Firefox is not recognising flash player...I must use IE...why is this?

firefox says I must install flash player ...I have the most current flash player...it works fine when using IE.
I have the most current version of firefox.....it gives me the update plug in message. when i try and do that it just takes me to some page that tries to sell me stuff. It is also blocking something called console video that I can not find on my hard drive.

windows fear tactics are designed for people like me who don't speak computer. Just like most users, I don't want to know how it works...I just want it to work.

  • IE 9 and 10 will not launch flash player

This is in regards to my desktop.  About three weeks ago I started having issues with the Flash Player not working when called upon by a website as an add-on to IE 10. So I called Microsoft Support and they did all manner of system restore and now the computer is all hosed up.  One of the things they did do was uninstall IE 10 and reinstall IE 9.  While IE 9 was more stable, IE 9 will not launch the Flash Player either when prompted by a web site.   Flash Player WILL launch if I use Chrome or Firefox. The solution that everyone throws my way is not to use IE, but that doesn't fix the issue of getting IE 9 to luanch the flash player when called upon by a web site. Microsoft seems bamboozled by this and their tech support overseas has no idea how to fix this short of a clean install and startiong over from scratch - which seems like the most likely scenario.  My desk top is running Windows 7 - build 1.  IE Explorer is version 9.0.17.  The machine is a 64 bit Intel Core i7 CPU with 870 at 2.93 Ghz.  AV is ESET, udated, runs everyday.  I have tried putting sites on the on the pop-up blocker allow list and have shut Microft's pop-up block oiff completly with no behavioral change form the computer. I have also disable all of the add-ons and re-enable them, with no change. The most recent version of Flash Player is the one I installed this morning from the adobe web site.
