[u]> After receiving thank you for downloading itunes
7.0 message, for some reason my computer is not
recognizing the download and I am in a loop of
downloading and thankyou for downloading
messages
does a dialog box come up asking if you want to run
or save the installer file? or do you just get the
thank you, with no sign that that the download has
even started?
I get the same problem. I click on the button to download the new itunes and a box comes up that asks to run or save this program. I click run and then another box comes up that says this program has no known publisher. It then asks me if i want to run the program or not run it. I click run and another box comes up that says it is not a win32.exe application. I click ok and the screen on the itunes website says "Thank you for downloading"
what do i do to make this run????

So I just got a nano today, and I will need it tomorrow. I have two computers networked, and here's the goofy thing. On the computer with low-speed USB ports, it recognizes it on the computer and in iTunes. On my computer, the one I used with my mini, it doesn't recognize it at all. It just charges, but I can still navigate on my nano. Any ideas? I've tried reinstalling iTunes several times and tried resetting it, as well as tried to do the iPod updater, but it just doesn't recognize it.

I'm by no means a Windows expert, but I think that file is something to do with Hewlitt Packard Easy Internet Access, and the fact that it's missing, and thinks it's on a networked drive, might mean that it was not installed when the machne was set up. If you have a ÇD from HP that came with the computer, you might put it in the drive and see if the installer can be directed to it to find the file.
But you may want to go to an HP help forum because it's almost definitely an HP problem, rather than iTunes specific. (I googled the error and found it happening with dozens of different programs, but all on HP compters).

  • Can I download a free exercise video to my computer (not from Itunes)and then  to my ipod nano, and then show it on my tv, and if so how?

Can I download a free exercie video (not from Itunes) to my computer, then to my ipod nano, and then show it on my tv?

If you have a compatible video file, you can add it to your iTunes library by dragging it to the iTunes window, or by using the command
iTunes menu bar -> File -> Add to Library...
If the video is in a format that iTunes can play, it should be imported and appear as a new item in the iTunes Movies library.
It may not be playable on the nano directly, because of its format.  For example, if it's "HD," the resolution is too high for a nano's screen.  If it plays in iTunes, but not on the nano, you can use the command to covert it. Select the item in a list and then
iTunes menu bar -> File -> Create New Version -> Create iPod or iPhone Version
That version should play on an iPod nano.  NOTE:  Some videos downloaded from the iTunes Store cannot be converted to a lower resolution format, because they have DRM (copy protection).

  • Computer not recognizing phone but iTunes does

I know there have been several issues with Windows 7 not recognizing iPhones. iTunes does recognize my phone but when I try to sync it my computer does not recognize it. I went to the Device Manager which does show the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. It says I have the most current driver installed but yet when I go to My Computer it does not show my phone as being connected. Please let me know what I am doing wrong!!!!

Why do you want to see it in "My Computer"?
Have you taken pics with the iphone that you are trying to import?

  • Itunes & Computer not recognizing Ipod

Since we purchased them in December, my wife and I both have both been using our iPod 2nd generation Nanos(2 GB)with our laptop. Suddenly today her iPod is is no longer being recognized by ITunes and the computer.
Her iPod doesnt show up in "My Computer" or the Device Manager. Since it doesnt show up in ITunes at all, I can't force a sync. My iPod is still recognized, so it is not a problem with the USB cable or the USB port.
How can I get ITunes and our computer to recognize her Ipod again-? Is there any other way besides resetting it-?
    Thanks~~

    Try looking into these articles:
iPod doesn’t show up in My Computer or in iTunes
iPod not recognized and Windows Device Mnager is empty
Also, it's possible that this is being caused by drive letter confusion. If the above articles don't seem to help, you might want to try assigning your iPod a different drive letter, following the steps here:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive
Then, after you've done that, disconnect your iPod, and reconnect your wife's iPod to the computer, and see if it is recognized.

  • Computer not recognizing that my ipod is pluged in!!

I have recently reformatted my comeputer and got some new music put on my itunes and when i tried to plug in my ipod it just doesnt do anything...like the little screen on the ipod that usually sais "do not disconnect" doesnt come up...the computer doesnt even accnowladge that anything is pluged in...i tried downloading the newest ipod softwhare and that didnt work...i tried putting in the origional disk that came with it and that didnt do anything...also when i plug my ipod into the computer it drains the battery instead of charging it...suggestions??

I don't know if this might work for you guys but this is what got my problem solved. If you experience the following, the Ipod was working but suddenly it stops working (i.e. the ipod screen is totally blank no icons like battery low or whatever) and when you connect it to the computer the little sign that means do not disconnect does not appear (the pc does not recognized that the ipod is connected) then maybe this might solve your problem. Do not connect the Ipod to the computer for about 24 hours. Do not try to charge it or anything just leave it by itself let the battery drained then try it the next day and hopefully the icon of battery is low will appear then you can charge it by connecting to the pc.
This is what happened to me by accident i guess, i had given up and had realized that i had just spend two hundred dollars on something that didn't work but today i tried to turned it on and the battery is low icon appeared so i connected to the PC and now it works.
    Good Luck.

  • Why is my computer not recognizing my phone as a device?

My computer is not recognizing that my phone is plugged in... It will charge it, but it won't download my pictures or show that it is even connected on my devices. I have updated all my itunes stuff and restarted my computed. What do I do?

Sometimes, your Apple ID is actually "username" instead of "[email protected]" Try putting the username of your email instead of the actual address, and see if that works?

  • New computer not recognizing iPod

My laptop hard-drive crashed, but I had all my iTunes on an external hard drive. My iPod (30GB, noncolor, flywheel) had been synching with the ailing laptop and was not working right (showing the folder/exclamation point sign; when I hard reset it now I just get the Apple symbol and clicking sounds), so I'm assuming my iPod problems are just a reflection of an aborted synch attempt with the dying compueter.
So now I've successfully reset iTunes on my work desktop PC with Windows XP via the external hard drive. I downloaded the latest iPod version onto the new computer but it is not "recognizing" my iPod...it says to plug in my iPod when it is already plugged in. The plugged in iPod seems to alternate between "Do Not Disconnect" and "OK to Disconnect" (with a giant checkmark) messages. Regardless, the iTunes page is not "recognizing" the iPod...
Once I do figure out how to get my iPod "recognized", should I choose to RESTORE or UPDATE it? I don't have playlists or ratings to worry about, just ~3500 preciously selected songs I enjoy shuffling at random.
    Thanks!

I cannot "See" the iPod. I have tried it on different computers that worked before with my iPod. On a laptop computer, there is some humming and clicking as if it is about to be recognized, but my iPod never shows up on the iTunes list (under Library, playlists, etc). When I go to "My Computer", there is nothing listed under the appropriate E drive (USB port). On a desktop computer, the iPod actually changes to the "Do Not Disconnect" sign and again there is the expected humming and clicking that suggests it is going to be "recognized", but it never comes up on the iTunes list. Under My Computer, there is a transient picture of something like a hard-drive with a big red questionmark, as if the computer is in the process of "recognizing" something at the USB port, but this fades and then there is intermittently this "removable storage" listed under drive F. As if it is only transiently being "recognized". When I manage to right click on the transient icon under My Computer, I get the list pulled down and left click on "Format..." but nothing happens. Then the iPod screen changes from "Do Not DIsconnect" (which again was an improvement from the other computer where there was no sign the iPod was even attempting to engage with the computer) to the giant checkmark and "OK to Disconnect" sign OR goes back to the "File Folder/! icon". Tried several times....
    What do you think?

  • Computer not recognizing ipod touch 1 generation

My Mac is not recognizing my 1st gen iPod Touch. I just updated to Snow Lepard, finally... Now it will not recognize the iPod. Checked for updates and downloaded those for 30 minutes, not any better. Any ideas?

Let me see if I can remember...
Hold down the Home button and then hold down the power button to power it down.
Hold down the Home button while connecting the iPod to the computer via the USB cord.
It should start up and show the iTunes icon and a picture of a USB plug on the screen. Release the Home button. At this stage iTunes opened up and said that it detected an iPod in the process of restoring. Click Restore (or Continue, or whatever it was). I was told I needed a software update, so I accepted that. It took about six minutes to download on my cable internet access. When the new software was installed iTunes tried to restore the iPod, but it was taking forever. After several minutes (five?) I got an error. I clicked OK and, leaving the iPod connected, restarted the computer.
When the computer restarted iTunes started automatically and detected the iPod. I clicked Restore again, and this time the restoration was successful. When it was done, it began synching the iPod (another long process, since I keep over 3,000 tracks on it).
I'm going from memory, so you may want to search for specific instructions on restoring an iPod Touch; but I'm pretty sure that was the sequence of events.
    Good luck!

  • "usb device not recognized"-itunes ok

My pod is connected to my pc with an usb cord. I keep getting the message that the device is not recognized by windows when I put my ipod into my docking station, but when I open itunes, my ipod is there and I'm having no problems transferring music. I don't understand how windows says it doesn't recognize the device, but itunes does. Also, I cannot get my ipod to recharge off my computer thru the usb connection. I've tried all the usb ports on my computer. My ipod will charge off an outlet.

You can get the iOS version by going to Settings, General, About on the iPad.  But iTunes 10.3.1 I think should be fine for any version iOS you are likely to have currently.
Are you plugging in the iPad with the cable that came with the iPad?  Or using some other cable?  Were you able to sync before with this specific iPad and this specific computer?  Are you plugging in to a USB hub or directly into the computer?  Have you rebooted Vista?  (I'm assuming you're using Vista based on what you profile says.)  Not sleep, but Restart or Shut Down from the Windows (Start) menu.

  • Computer not recognizing my itouch

When I try to sync my itouch with itunes an error message shows up saying "USB Device not recognized. The device has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it" Then it says to click on the message for help but all it does is show that there is an unrecognized device in one of the ports. My itouch is very old, refurbished and when I've been downloading podcasts, they've played back too slow, am wondering if it's just on it's way out...any thoughts?
