Computer performance Base score

Hi Support,
What is the minimum & Maximum Base score for computer performance.
My computer is showing 3.3 base score.
Please let me know whether the above score is Good or what is the best score for the computer performance.
Regards
Pradeep.R

Not sure about "totally" but I am sure you'd find a lot of people to agree with you.
Afaik the WEI gui was removed in 8.1 but it seems that, in 8.1 at least, you can still use winsat from the command line to see the score. See

  • What is the "Base Score" of Satellite P200-140

Can anyone please tell me what is the Base Score (WEI) for the P200-140?

    Hi
Do you mean the Vista Base Score???
As far as I know the Base Score index supports an index from 1 to 6 (6 best)
This index provides a info about the computer performance and how fast the unit is.
The problem is that the P100 series was delivered with different hardware specifications and therefore the base score can be different.
Every hardware part like GPU, CPU, RAM, HDD affects the base score results

    Fixing a Mavericks Installation Problem
How to manage a failed OS X Mavericks installation | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews.
    Try these in order:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Actual time recording (computer performance problem?)

    I'm a beginner.
I'm recording the output file in every second, but the time of output file is different from the actual time.
I'm wondering if this is due to the computer performance (450MHz, 128MB) or if vi program can be implemented. I attached the file I use. The problem comes up when I use a vi with 50 channel outputs, but doesn't come up if I reduce the channels to around 20.
    Thank you.

It sounds like you are certainly running into timing issues. I see that in your VI, you use AI Sample Channel to acquire data from a single channel everytime the loop iterates. This is not the best means to go about doing such. The reason being that each time the VI is called, it has to setup the operation, then perform the read, and then clear the operation. What you should be doing is setting up the operationg outside the loop, perform only reads in the while loop, and then clear the task after you are complete. LabVIEW gets shipped with several examples that behave just this way, you should look in the example finder for these.
Additionallly, if you read the help on AI Sample Channel.vi, it states it does a single, untimed measurement of a channel. Since
you posted with the title "actual time recording", I feel that timing might be of importance to you.
You never did mention what version of LabVIEW you have, or the hardware and drivers you are using, so I am leaving this post rather general. If you have some more questions after reading through this post and looking through some of the examples, post back to this discussion with more information, and I will try and help you out further.
    Sincerely,
    Jared A.

  • How to trigger the next service based on the last service (Performance Base Plan)

    Hi Experts,
If im using the Performance Base Maintenance Plan. and set the service is every 5000km. if i send my vehicle for sevice at 6000km. how the system can trigger the next service on 11000km instead of 10000km.
    Thanks
    Regards

5000 KM once is the planned one. If you are sending at 6000 KM or 6500 KM, this is unplanned one. System will not consider the unplanned orders. So its not possible to have at 11000 KM automatically.
Either you have to create new Maintenance plan starts with 6000 KM with the cycle of 5000 KM & deactivate the old plan.

  • When reading an encoder the computer performance suffers with program duration.

Im working with a PCTIO-10 counter/timer card with Atmel AM9513A microcontrollers and a LAB-PC-1200AI Card. The Computer Im using is an older Compaq proliant 600 MHZ server running NT and Labview 5.1
The objective of our application is to create a VI that controls a photometric lab. We swing a boom with a photocell attached to the end through a light source and collect intensity measurements along the way. We use the 1200AI card to activate a solenoid that controls direction of the boom and the TIO card is used to count encoder pulses and monitor boom location. The application then collects intensity measurements at specified boom angles. This is where we start to have problems The application works, as it should, monitoring boom location and collecting data at the correct angles: 10 deg, 20 deg, 30 deg, etc I wrote the application to execute in a do while loop constantly reading the TIO card and generating a boom angle. I then poke the results into a shift register. As soon as I read the correct angles from the shift register I collect the photocell data. The problem comes in after the program executes for a few minutes. The machine performance degrades as execution time elapses until ultimately the machine starts to miss pulses. Let me clarify this statement: the card/machine seem to keep track of all pulses emitted by the encoder BUT the machine cant get back to read the cards register before it misses the required angles. E.g. I want to collect data at 50 deg boom angle. The register is counting the pulses but the computer reads the register in a loop as: 46, 46, 46, 46, 47, 47, 47, 48, 48, 51, 51, 52, 52, etc The machine is counting the encoder pulses but the software cant seem to get back to the register in time to pick up on the correct angles. This problem is amplified as program execution time elapses until the machine starts to miss a series of numbers and also has trouble with monitor redraws/updates. The Windows NT task manager shows no memory leaking. Ive also tried to add small wait durations in the program to allow Windows time to multitask and do maintenance. It didnt help. I then scraped the original program and wrote a new one that starts and stops the counters when not needed for short periods. I also reset the registers at the top and bottom of the boom stroke in an effort to free up the processor and/or memory, but the problem persists. Im either writing a poor program or I need a way to dedicate to processor to this task. Any input will be appreciated.

It's difficult to pinpoint without any code posted. However, a sluggishness that increases with run time can be a symptom of a program that keeps resizing and/or copying fairly big arrays. Can you post some of the code?
Also, there may be a different approach that will let you hardware-capture excess data, then extract the subset of interest in a post-processing step. This way you can be sure not to miss any points.
The idea would be to perform a buffered analog acquisition of your photocell(s), using the encoder pulses as an external scan clock. There are shipping examples that show how to do such things, and I think the Lab-PC-1200AI should support them.
You could set up an acquisition buffer a bit bigger than the # of encoder pul
ses in your boom's range of travel. After collecting one scan for each encoder position, you can then extract data at or around the positions of particular interest. Just note that the data at index i corresponds to your previous method's position i+1.

  • Is there a way to improve computer performance during TM backup?

I have a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM running 10.5.7 and every time Time Machine starts a backup (about once an hour) my computer becomes unresponsive. I can't type, copy, paste, switch applications without a huge hang up. For example, it took me a total of 7 minutes to get to this thread because Time Machine started a backup and I was stuck in the Finder trying to switch to Safari. Once Safari finally showed up, I got a beach ball.
When TM isn't running, my computer is restored to a responsive state.
I love using Time Machine, because it's a great way to backup everything. Short of turning it off, is there anything else I can do to prevent my computer from going in to lockdown once an hour?
I'm backing up wirelessly to a MyBook USB drive btw.

Just an update to those who may stumble across this thread.
This issue has not been solved. In fact, I could say it's gotten much much worse. It seems that I can't type, copy/paste or perform even the most basic of tasks while a backup is in progress.
I've downloaded the Time Machine Backup Widget, and it shows a few oddities that may/may not be significant. On one particular day the log shows a request for 1.3GB and then for the next backup (1 hour later) a request for another 2GB in size. Each of the hourly backups seemed to be of similar size requests for that day. What's unusual is that for that particular day, I wasn't really working on anything of significant size at all. I'm a web developer, so I may modify a 1MB file throughout the day, for several hours, but I'm no where near generating modifications that would equate to 8GB a day. My first thought was that Time Machine might be swapping out a weekly/monthly backup at that time - but then the same requests seem to be coming the following three days. Does it take Time Machine that long to perform a weekly backup?
At Time Machine's current rate, my hard drive is filling up pretty fast. To the tune of 8GB a day. The logs seem to also indicate that Time Machine is only copying 2.1MB a day. Again, that falls in line with what I would expect with my activity, but the hard drive seems to be dedicating the "requested" rather than the (smaller) copied amount indicated in the log files.
Backup frequency also seems to be higher than normal on some days. Today, for example, Time Machine has been backing up about once every 20 minutes or so. Right now, I'm on a backup, at various times my typing has been affected and according to the backup status it has been backing up 2.4MB of 2.5MB for the past 22 minutes. It just barely finishes and then it starts right back up again.
I've kept Activity monitor running for the past couple of weeks and as suspected, my CPU reaches maximum capacity and my disk activity goes through the roof during a backup. My external wireless mouse and anything connected to my computer seems to become unresponsive. The trackpad and keyboard go next. Then - typically - I see the beach ball and I know I'm up for an unscheduled computer break. This is most annoying when I'm trying to type an email and a backup kicks in just before I have a chance to click send. One time it took me 10 minutes for my click to be recognized and an email could be queued to send. It took another 3 full minutes for the email to actually go out.
For me, backups are essential. I have resisted turning this feature off, simply because I spent so much money to get it all to work (upgraded OS, purchased a new router and a new backup HD).
I hope Apple releases more control over the backup features and the backup frequency. I'd love to see an option to have backups happen only when CPU cycles are at idle for a few minutes, which would indicate that the user isn't on the computer. Or perhaps give users the ability to set a less aggressive backup schedule, perhaps every four hours or so, rather than the aggressive hourly backups I'm stuck with now.
Time Machine's current status: "finishing backup." has been it's status for at least 10 minutes, that combined with the outlandish 45 minute time it took to copy 2.5MB of data means I have just 5 minutes before my next backup is scheduled to start. There has to be a better way.

  • Is anyone else's computer performing worse after upgrading to Mavericks?

My laptop's battery life has decreased by at least a fourth and my computer now takes forever to load anything whether it's just loading a webpage or trying to open a program such as Pages or iTunes.  Everything is just so much slower.  My laptop also starts heating up faster and is loader than it has ever been after making the switch.  OSX Lion was much better in my opinion.  I have tried reparing permissions in disk utililty and that made my laptop perform better for about 30 minutes and then it went back to running like crap.
Please if anyone else has had this problem and has fixed it, please let me know a solution, I've been using a Dell now because my MacBook Pro isn't performing well enough.
    Thanks!

Check Activity Monitor and sort by %CPU to see if any processes are hogging memory.
If mds and mdshelper are hard at work, that's Spotlight indexing, and after a few hours things should speed-up.
    Also try Safari->Reset Safari

  • Computer performance

Well- I've loved my computer for years, but recently it has been running slow and I constantly get the spinning death rainbow regardless of what programs I'm running- Firefox, Photoshop or Microsoft Word for Macs. I'm open to suggestions. I've downloaded the most recent versions of common things- flashplayer, shockwave, quicktime. Suggestions would be great- thanks!

    Welcome!
Macs and the Mac OS benefit from some routine maintenance that is easily accomplish by the end user. The best resource for ways to improve performance through maintenance is here:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/faqs.html
Focus on the article titles that mention maintenance, and the article in insufficient hard drive free space and memory.
There are several variants of the eMac; if you post more details about it (processor speed; RAM installed; free space on hard drive, etc.) people may be able to offer you specific solutions here. The best way to let us know what variant you have is to do About this Mac > More Info.. and, when you see a screen with "Hardware Overview" at the top. copy/paste that info here EXCEPT for your serial number. The second line, "Machine Model" will nail down which of the two major variants you have, and the rest will finish the identification of your specific model.
Suggestion: add the model info you find to your equipment line in your profile and you won't have to repeat this for future posts here.

  • Any Tips on Maximizing Computer Performance?

Windows has defrag and disk cleanup for all of their unresolved problems, but does Mac have an equivalent program to give the computer an extra push? I'm perfectly fine with my performance right now, but who would complain about getting a bit extra out of it? I'm running on my Intel-Based MacBook on OSX10.4.11

Yes, a System Recovery will definitely increase system performance.  You should do a backup of your personal data before beginning.  I do a system recovery at least once per year.  I like the feel of a computer with no glitches.

  • Virtual computing performance

    Hi,
My department is running some own coded solutions, based in C sharp and MySQL, runing on a Windows XP computer. We will have budget for a high spec server and we thought in a Mac Pro, having all the current solutions running on a Windows virtual computer. The big concern is the performance, because it would difficult to explain having a ultra fast computer and worst performance than with the old machine. Any advice?
    Thank you very much.

You were using XP, that can't have had much strain on any hardware you were using.
Apple does not support native support on the newest nMP Late 2013 of anything pre-8.1/8.0.
People run Mavericks natively under Mavericks - depends on how many cores you have, how many are to be allocated but a 6-core nMP would not break a sweat.
3D and games are never good candidates for VMs. But web server type tasks?

  • Multiple JVM instances and host computer performance

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has any facts or sources about how running multiple JVM instances impacts the performance of the hosting computer ?
For example, say you have a long running server process that creates a JVM, how is the performance of the computer impacted if there are five of those processes running, versus ten versus ...
This is a very "it depends" question, but I would like to get an idea of the baseline performance impact that comes with running a JVM, and if there is anyone here that has experience running multiple JVMs I'd appreciate any feedback, whether it's "don't do it, ever" or "no problem!"
    Thanks

My only experience with multiple VMs is when I have several Java GUI apps (eclipse, jedit, dbvisualizer) plus tomcat and maybe an ant running on XP.
I don't think that the existence of multiple VMs is in and of itself a problems, but JVMs do tend to be fairly memory hungry, so if you don't have a lot of RAM, you may find yourself crawling along as swapping heats up.
I think that later versions of the Windows VM have started to take advantage of sharing certain core libraries, or pieces of them, so that you don't have as big an incremental memory footprint for additional VMs. I don't know which versions or how much this actually reduces the foot print of second and subsequent VMs though.

  • Migration of performance history (score)

    Hi,
Scenario: Company 1# now has performance appraisals in own system, they are about to get rid of this, and the appraisals are to be implemented and drifted in and by company 2#. Company 1# now stores this information in "own" infotypes, which not only includes the scores but also attachments/documents. As I see it there should be no problem migrating only the performance score, into IT7409 in company 2# (for as many years back as wanted, this is to keep history), but how do they migrate the attachments/documents, where should it be stored?
Do any of you have suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.
    EK

    Hi,
A solution I implemented at a customer for this was to create a migration template. It was just a VA (template) with FAPP to store the overall result and with attachments enabled.
Via a custom report we then created historical documents for each employee. Relatively fast and easy.
