Computer reboots when i launch iTunes

Almost every time i run iTunes (70-80%) my computer imediately reboots, just like presing the reset button.
Aparently something causes a Windows Stop Error witch reboots the system to protect it.
After the reboot a get a Microsoft Crash Analisys window asking me if i want to report this problem. In the details window i get the following error info:
BCCode : 10000050 BCP1 : BB9EA29E BCP2 : 00000000 BCP3 : 80580A1C
BCP4 : 00000002 OSVer : 512600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1
I have this problem for some time now, even when i was using iTunes 4. With iTunes 5 and 6 the problem just persisted... I even uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it from scratch, but the problem remains.
I can't figure out what exactly causes the Windows Stop Error. It's quite frustrating since i can't update my iPod because of this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd hate to reinstall the whole system especially since i'm not sure it will solve the problem...

No, sorry to say. I had no ideas. Well - OK, one idea - bring up Task Manager > Processes before you start iTunes and see if anything shows up there. But that seems futile, given the PC boots.

  • I want to force iTunes to organize my mp3/mp4 files as I want and show that when I launch iTunes

I find file management in iTunes to be very unApple like. Periodically I import mp3 or mp4 files that show up under music when I launch iTunes. I would like to name and order them by date and put them in a folder, album, or some collection item to facilitate finding and using them later. Copy and paste does not work,
drag and drop does not work. If I go to where the items are stored as music files I can achieve a named collection of these files ordered as I wish. That, however, does not manifest itself back in iTunes.
One of two things appears to be the case. Either I cannot manage iTunes as it thinks it owns everything or I simply cannot uses the apple file management paradigm in use for the past two decades on an Apple computer running iTunes. Perhaps both of these are true. Another possibility is to install a different program over which I have control and disable iTunes from ever touching one of my imported files.
It is possible that Apple intentionally obfuscated file management with iTunes to simplify their commercial management of the iTunes store, and while that is a possibility, understanding it is enigmatic.
Another quandary is the concept of album. Under "New", playlists are mentioned, but not albums or folders. Yet both may show up mysteriously. There must be a ghost in my computer.
Help and psychoanalysis will be appreciated.

Since there are no obvious answers to this dilemma, I have changed my thinking on the subject. It is a title like giving up on teaching a pig to sing. Since I can organize all my mp3 files anyway I choose and furthermore can name them anything I choose I have done so and stored them under a named folder in the Music folder. I can play them with Quick Time and never have to go through iTunes at all.
    Case closed.

If your computer doesn't see the phone when you plug it in, you may have to take it to an Apple Store.

  • I transferred itunes library from old PC to new PC. The content all shows when I launch iTunes on the new PC now. The previous content does not show in iTunes but folder still looks like it is on hard drive on new PC. Suggestions on how to properly merge?

Before you connect any device to a new library go to the Devices tab of the the preferences panel via Edit > Preferences (Windows) or iTunes > Preferences (Mac) and ensure the box next to Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically is ticked. You can now safely connect the device to your computer without the danger of media being automatically deleted or overwritten.
To get all your content off your connect your iPad to your new computer.
Then use a 3rd party piece of software to transfer your content
I have found Senuti useful but there are others listed in the article I linked to in a previous post.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
That will let you transfer your non purchased content
For Purchased content log in to iTunes on the new computer
In Itunes Store click on Purchased under the Quick Links section on the right.
Download any music by clicking on the cloud button

  • When i launch itunes my music library appears and then disappears

Please help solve this problem. After installing the latest version of iTunes, when I launch iTunes the music in my library pops up and after a second disappears. I've tried reinstalling iTunes and still have the same problem.

" When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs."
    Correct.
" How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  "
Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.

  • Edit what first opens up when you launch iTunes?

When I launch iTunes, the album covers come up first. I want to change that to something else? What could I change it to and how?

With iTunes closed try moving the following file to your desktop:
    C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml
Try again. You will probably need to update some of your preferences such as which sections of the library are displayed, media folder path, Keep... & Copy... options unless these are all set to the defaults.

When I launch iTunes on the PC, iTunes will not connect to Airplay speakers. Only after a new start of iTunes a connection is established.

Thank you for the suggestion, but the 'clean' install of iTunes (which I did twice) didn't do the trick.
    Anybody else have a clue?
I spoke with Apple Care, who was also stumped. They think it might be a hardware issue (but were probably just giving up on working with me because it was free service/I haven't paid the $50). Still seems awfully coincidental that my Airport (1st Gen - about 4 years old) would stop being able to stream music through iTunes simultaneously with the iTunes update...

  • Users automatically remount my shared playlist when I launch iTunes?

I share my music here at work and I think it's fun to see how many people are listening, because I share a different playlist every day. Lately however, I've been noticing that as soon as I launch iTunes, even if I check immediately, there are always 2 users logged on to my shared music right away. I'm pretty sure it's automated because I can quit and restart iTunes multiple times and there are always 2 users connected.
Does anyone know what might be causing this? My theory is that someone found a third-party app that automatically remounts my shared music on their iTunes whenever I launch my iTunes. Other than that, could it be some kind of monitoring that the IS department at my work is doing? This one has really got me baffled. Thanks for your help.

No, because when you launch iTunes, you can see available shared playlists, but it doesn't automatically connect to them. You have to click on a shared playlist to connect to it, (there are usually 8-16 of them to choose from here) and then there is a little eject symbol next to it once you have connected. There is no way to automatically connect to them when you launch iTunes. Anybody else?

  • When I launch ITunes nothing is happening

Hello! In the last days this thing has started happening: When I launch Itunes, nothing is happening. I click several times, nothing is happening, but somehow, suddenly, after 10, maybe 15 minutes, it opens up. I have no clue why this is happening. I receive no error messages, it simply will not open.
I use Windows Vista, ITuns 8.01... Hope someone can help me out on this one!

If there is an option to "license this software", and it takes you to a sign-in page with username and password (not a serial number) - then just go ahead and sign in.
If it insists on a serial number you need to uninstall the trial. Then try to download again.

  • HT1386 I synced my Macbook with Iphone4s, but cannot access music when I launch itunes on iphone. I don't even see my library on iphone. The usage option in settings shows that there is music copied on iPhone. I just can't access it. Could anyphone please

I am a new iTunes user. I have synced my iphone 4s to macbook using iTunes, but I cannot access music in iPhone. I cannot access library when I launch iTunes on my iPhone. When I go to settings->usage->music, I see that there is enough music in the phone to suggest that music has been synced with iTunes. I just don't know how to access it. Could someone pleas help?

If you want to drag and drop then you would have to select Manually Manage Music.
    Otherwise, just sync your music.

I am trying to "authorize" my new computer so that I can download my previous purchases from the cloud.  It says to open iTunes and go to the STORE menu and select AUTHORIZE MY COMPUTER, but when I open iTunes there is no STORE menu.  Can anyone help?

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

Are you getting any sort of blue screen when the PC restarts? If so, what numerical and textual codes are you getting for it?
    (For example: STOP 0x00000023 FAT_FILE_SYSTEM)
If the blue screen also mentions a specific file, let us know what the file is called. (Precise spelling please. Include filename extensions like .sys or .dll ... for example, "atiduag.dll".)

  • My iMac crashes when i launch iTunes

    Hi,
Since yesterday night, my iMac 27" under Mountain Lion crashes everytime i launch iTunes on my session. The icon bounces a few times as it always does, and then nothing. I can't do anything more on my iMac, even the ALT+Apple+ESC isn't working, then the computer freezes.
It was working perfectly the day before, I didn't use it since and now i have this issue.
I've downloaded iTunes 11, but it's still the same... And the fact is that iTunes is working fine on another session, it crashes only on mine. Once crashed, I have to hard reboot my iMac to make it work again.
Do you have an idea of where the problem can come from, and how to solve it please?
    Thank you,
    KeteMeteK

    Thank you for your answer,
I have some (bad) news about my system : Now I have the same troubles when I try to open my Downloads folder, my Documents folder, my Finder, or to access my HDD...
I have no clue what's going on, can't be a virus because I'm running OSX? Could my HDD be damaged?
    Thanks...
