    Here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    or
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
It is normal and expcted for a computer to see the iPod as a camera since that is how you get photo off the iPod.

  • Just started. iphoto will not recognize iphone as a camera

frustrated here. All of a sudden, IPhoto will not recognize my iPhone as a camera and therefore will not upload photos taken on the phone. No settings have been changed. Not sure what to do here.

Got any photos in your camera roll that were emailed to you or saved through safari? If so, try deleting them or emailing them to yourself & then deleting them from your camera roll. See if iphoto will then see your phone.

  • Computer recognizes iphone, but will not allow transfer of songs or video

I have itunes latest version on my two computers.  I upgrade my iphone 4 to IOS5.  My iphone works fine on one computer.  The computer recognizes the iphone and allows the transfer of music and video.  On the second computer, the iphone is recognized, but will not transfer music or videos.  I get the big stop sign when trying to move music or video onto the phone.  The phone is enabled on bot h computers.  Help!!  Advice?

"that's the way things work with an iPhone".....This is why I HATE this approach!! Why did they on purpose make life hard for the user? I need to do some clean-up on the tags of my music, I do not want to transfer anything from/to another computer, why do I have to use workaround, non-official solutions ?? According to the Apple support site, you can manually manage music on several computers, except NOT for the iPhone

  • Computer wont recognize iphone as a camera or device

    Any suggestions for this?

    shaunie07,
First, does the iPhone have a charge on the battery, as discussed in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305742
What other USB devices are currently connected to the computer, if any?
Have you tried shutting down the computer, and leaving it powered off for at least 30 seconds, then restart it and try connecting the iPhone?
Try reseting the iPhone by holding down the sleep/wake and home buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignore the "Slide to Power off" screen?
Both of the previous steps could be done simultaneously. Shut down the computer, reset the iPhone, and then turn the computer back on.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Usb recognizes iphone as digital camera

    I hvae Windows xp pro.
My notebook recognizes the iphone as a digital camera whenever I put it on the usb cradle. It just started with no particular reason.
Any idea to fix this will be greatly appreciated.

Is the iPhone showing up as a USB mass storage device? (in other words, if you open up "My Computer" does the iPhone show up there as a drive?). If so then it's not that XP is seeing your phone as a camera. It is that it is seeing your phone as a generic device that happens to have pictures on it. Likewise, if you have music on there in MP3 format and if it is showing up as a USB mass storage device then Windows Media Player will be listed as another application on the autorun menu.

  • Windows recognizes iPhone as digital camera

my iPhone doesn't show up in iTunes at all and when i look up devices, it only shows up as a digital still camera. i tried reinstalling itunes and that didn't work.

A few things to look at.
    1. open add/remove programs from the control panel and make sure apple mobile device is installed.
1A. If not uninstall apple software update, itunes, and quicktime. Then reinstall itunes.
    2. with the iphone connected, open computer management, look under services and make sure apple mobile device support is started.
2A. if you try to start it and it stops with a message that some services stop because there is not a task to perform, then you have software loaded on your computer that is blocking that service. This link from the apple support website might help out. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
    3. If previous fails and windows only wants to load the camera driver for the iphone then open device manager right click on the iphone that shows up under imaging devices and uninstall.
3A. disconnect the iphone and reconnect. When windows detects new hardware, do not let it automatically install the driver. try to force windows to load the driver from c:\windows\system32\drivestore\usbaapl_*
    Hope this helps out.

Do you by any chance have any sort of Logitech webcam on your computer? Because if you do, then you need to update the drivers of the webcam. Here are some Apple articles on the problem:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1502
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1768
Here's the Dell support page on it:

I had the same problem with a Logitech OrbiCam on my Acer 5601AWLMi, and the only way I could fix it was by totally uninstalling the OrbiCam software and drivers in Add/Remove Programs, so if nothing works, perhaps that's an option.

Computer recognizes my iPhone as a camera but it doesn't appear in iTunes.  Help. I've restart Apple Mobile already.  Still didn't help.

Well, you do not indicate what computer OS you're using, so I'll give you a link to both. Use the one that applies.

  • Itunes recognizes iphones as cameras.  How to I get back to opening the phone with itunes?

My computer will not recognize my iphone as an iphone. It recognizes it as a camera.  itunes also does not recognize the iphone.  How do I redirect the comptuer to opent the phone with itunes?

I'm having the same problem.  The weird thing is I got my wife's iphone working after some messing around with drivers, but still can't fix my phone.
I followed the guide http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/ but nothing worked.

  • My computer think my iphone is a camera - seemingly unsolvable

Just can't seem to get to the bottom of this one.
Every time I dock our iPhone, my PC running XP recognizes it at a camera and asks what software that it should use. I have troubleshot the problem with http://docs .info.apple.com/artical.html?artnum=302538, but even with all start ups (but qtask and iTunesHelper) disabled and all services (but Apple Mobile Device Support and the hidden Microsoft services) disable, I still get the same odd behavior.
With no other options offered, what can I do (short of just throwing my iPhone through the window)?

If you really don't want your XP computer to see your phone as a camera, try this:
    1) Connect your iPhone and dismiss any "Camera" boxes that pop up.
    2) Double-click "My Computer".
    3) Right-click the "Apple iPhone" device and select "Properties"
    4) Click the "Events" tab.
    5) Select the "Camera connected" event in the drop-down list.
    6) Click the "Take no action" button.
    7) Click "OK"
That should prevent the pop-up box from showing when you connect the iPhone, but should not interfere with the connection to iTunes.
    8) Save these notes so you can reverse this action in the future if you change your mind.
