Computer restarting when trying to burn a cd

Everytime I try to burn a playlist from my itunes..its starts burning process and then after 30 seconds, my computer resets

hiya!
are you getting a blue screen with that? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting? ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES?
this reference has examples of the sorts of things i mean:
Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're just getting a "flash" of a blue screen, try using these settings to see if we can make it stick around for long enough to see what it's saying:
1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • Computer crashes when trying to burn a cd in itunes

I have read many threads on this error 4280 but mine seems a little different. Every time I try and burn a cd from songs in my library something bad happens. I have had my computer crash several times. One time it crashed and then went into a scandisc mode. Once it crashed and then when my computer restarted everything that was supposed to load at startup had errors and wouldn't load. Yesterday, I tried to burn a cd again. This time I used only music that I had ripped from my own cd's through itunes. I have authorized my computer yet it said it wouldn't burn any of them because none of the songs were authorized? They are my songs, from my cd's! A few weeks ago I tried the same thing and it wouldn't burn the tracks because it said 2 of the tracks weren't authorized. Again, they were all ripped from my cd collection, not downloaded. I decided to restart my computer and try again. Same problem but this time it selected 2 different songs as the ones that weren't authorized. I am having serious issues with itunes crashing my computer. Anyone else have problems like this? I am using itunes 7.6?
    Thanks,

  • Computer Restarts When Trying to Update

I just recently got a 60G iPod, and installed iTunes on my boyfriend's computer while I was fixing mine. After my computer was up and running, I installed iTunes on it and planned to use my iPod as a hard drive and transfer the music over to my computer. When I installed the software on my computer, it recognizes my computer as the home computer, and my boyfriend's computer won't recognize it anymore. Now, every time I try and update my iPod on my computer, or try and select "manually manage songs and playlists," my computer automatically restarts. My boyfriend has XP and I have Windows 2000. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, and I've already uninstalled iTunes on my computer and reinstalled it. No change.

  • Computer restarts when trying to install SL on disk partition

    Hi.
I just repartitioned my Macintosh HD using disk utility.  I've created a new 120GB partition "Macintosh HD 2.
I've been having problems installing Snow Leopard on the new partition (using the SN install disk.)
It seems to be installing for about 20 minutes then the computer restarts.
It gets to the gray screen and starts beeping angrily at me.
At that point my only recourse is to restart the computer, eject the install disk and try again.
I'd been hoping to use the new partition to try out FCPX and Lion before I upgrade my main hard disk.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks so much in advance

    Hi db2
That off the shelf MS-DOS / FAT-32 drive needs to re-partitioned GUID Partition Table / Mac OS Extended (Journaled) before you can install OS X and Startup your Intel iMac from it.
    1. Boot from your original install or retail SL DVD and open Disk Utility.
    2. Highlight the new HD in the list of drives and select the Partition tab.
    3. Under Volume Scheme select 1 Partition and click on the Options... button.
    4. Select GUID Partition Table in the drop down window and click OK.
    5. Set the Format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and click the Apply button.
    6. Once thats done, then you can do a clean SL Install, Restore from TM , your old HD or  Bootable Clone.

  • Why does my computer restart when trying to print? OSX 10.8.3 epson 2200

I seem to have a problem on my macpro 3,1 3ghz, osx10.8.3 computer when i try to print. When clicking print in any program, it will automatically restart my computer. I've tried resetting the printer settings in system preferences, and when clicking plus to add the printer, it will restart again. The printer is an epson 2200.
I've downloaded the huge printers driver files again, and still nothing. Also tried to fix permissions and that didnt help.
Everything was working fine printing before osx 10.8.3.
    Any help would be great.

On the phone today with Senior Apple Tech guys for ovber an hour. I have a case number. They said they hope to have something by Saturday.
I will keep this forum posted if and when I get anything.
In the meantime USB is working just fine.
BTW, spoke with 2 Epson techs and they both said basically talk to Apple, and as far as they knew Apple wasn't supporting Fireire any longer.
It is true that the new machines do not have FW ports. Never the less, the printers were all fine on 10.8.2 and FW so obviously there was a slipup somewhere.
I have had Macs since day one. I consult quite a few photographers and architects on their computers.
In the last several years there have been very few problems, and none that I recall that brought down the whole system.
The old days, yes, but this really startled me. To say nothing of the promised print job I was starting!
Keep the faith that Apple will fix this, and quickly!

  • Computer freezes when trying to burn cds with itunes

I don't know if this would help other people with issues related to burning cds with itunes but here it goes:
My computer running Windows XP SP2 and itunes 7.6.1.9 suddently stopped burning cds via itunes about a couple of versions ago. Burning would start correctly, however the operation never completed successfully, in fact, the computer would completly freeze before getting too far. The computer had to be hard booted, meaning I had to hold the power button to kill it. The only solution that I've come up with that effectively corrects this problem is as follows:
    Close itunes
Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
Look for IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service and open it (double-click it):
If not started, start it by clicking the Start button
    Select Startup Type as Automatic
Go to Recovery tab and set first, second and subsequent failures to Restart the Service
Click Apply and then Ok to close window
Look for iPod Service and open it:
If not started, start it by clicking the Start button
    Select Startup Type as Automatic
Click Apply and then Ok to close window
Restart itunes, try burning a cd from a playlist in itunes. There is no guarantee that this will solve your issue, but it is worth a shot, it has worked for me so far.

  • When trying to burn files to a DVD (DVD RDL from Memorex) an error message appears saying: Impossible to burn the disk because communication failed between disk player and computer (error code 0x80020022)

When trying to burn files (1,7 GB) to a Memorex DVD, an error messge says: Impossible to burn the disk because communication between disk player and computer failed (error code #  0x80020022).
Is the Memorex incompatible with my i-Mac or what could it be ?
    My i-Mac is a 21", Core 2 Duo with 3.06 GHz. RAM is 8Go 1067MHz DDR3.
    Thanks.

That message is usually caused by poor media. i.e. poor coating quality.
Mermorex is generally regarded by most users here as poor quality media. So is TDK. Most of us prefer Verbatim, Fuji, Maxell or Taiyu Yuden DVD-R.
Also burn at only 2x or 4x burn speed.

  • Error when trying to burn DVD

    Hi
I get this error (repeatedly) when trying to burn DVD recently.
    Error code 0x80020022
Burning disc failed because communication to the disc drive failed.
It's self explanatory I know, but what am I supposed to do about it? Is it a problem with my hardware?. I can't see the icon for my disc drive in Disc Utility to check it.
I've shut down and restarted, tried different DVDs, they're all DVD-R although I did try at first with a DVD +RW and hope this hasn't caused some damage.
    Hope someone can help thanks.
I'm having loads of problems creating iDVDs as well. But I think I need to resolve issues one at a time....
    Helen

Hi Helen - here are some general purpose iDVD tips that may address some of your unspecified troubles. In terms of communication troubles, could your hard drive be going to sleep, or screensaver kick in and interrupt the process?
    General tips:
Do something small first; get some experience before you need to do a big project.
Lots of memory helps; and you'll need 10-15 gigs of space on the hard drive for scratch space.
Buy good quality disks - I've seen recommendations for Maxell, Sony, TDK and a few others based on testing. I primarily use the first two and usually don't have trouble.
    Give yourself lots of time.
Turn off your screen savers and energy savers; don't let your hard drive go to sleep.
Get your computer healthy and ready for some heavy lifting. (video work could be the hardest job your computer can do) MacJanitor and Apple's DiskUtility's Repair Permissions is my routine.
Most of the time iDVD is working, it is encoding (compressing) your video to fit on the DVD. Create an image .img file (patchburn for iDVD 4 and older) and use Toast or Disk Utility to burn it to disk. Burn slow (1 or 2x) and let it cool down.
I keep my projects under 60 minutes (for highest resolution).
Try testers; you can use DVD-RW
I import into iDVD rather than export from iMovie (fewer errors).
    No other apps open.
Let it encode and burn while you go to bed; it can take awhile, esp. on older Macs. Don't quit iDVD even when the DVD is burned, until you've played the DVD in a regular player (it's much easier to burn another disk and check to see if the problem was a bad disk, than to go back through all that encoding again by quitting iDVD).

  • Error message 4000 when trying to burn a cd in itunes

I am having problems burning a cd in itunes. I am getting the error message the attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred  (4000). Can someone tell me how I can fix this problem.  Please note that I have looked up other ways to solve problem and have tried them and none of them seem to work.  Such as in program files I clicked on repair and not uninstall to see if there was any possible corrupt itunes files to be fixed.  I changed the burn speed and that did not work. The only thing I did not do was a total uninstall of itunes. I need to know should I do that and if so what site will I need to go on to re-install itunes  and will I have to pay for it? My computer which is Windows XP already had itunes on it when I bought it so I do not want to pay for itunes. So can someone please give me some guidance regarding this matter. And please note that I was able to burn cd's in itunes before and then it just stopped working. And I have tested my computer with the windows media player and I was able to burn music from my music library so I know my problem is with itunes.
    Thanks!

I had this issue to when trying to burn discs recently. I went into the CD creation settings in iTunes and I "unchecked" the option to "Include CD Text" and after I did that, the disc I had been trying to burn several times with error, actually burned without fail. Give that a try and see what happens.

  • Keep getting Disc Burner or software not found when trying to burn a CD

I am not able to burn a playlist to a CD and get an error at the top of Itunes window "Disc Burner or Software Not Found". I have been able to burn CDs in the past with this same computer but had some issues with songs in itunes. Support had me uninstall Itunes and reinstall. I have also uninstalled the device in the device manager and re-installed it. I really don't know what to try except to ask for help here. I would appreciate any direction I can get. I have a Dell desktop XPS running on Windows 8.

    Hi daurel,
Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you receive the error "Disc Burner or Software Not Found" when trying to burn CDs. You mention that you've already tried removing and reinstalling iTunes, and other drivers, and these are good steps.
If the situation continues, be sure to try the tips in this article:

  • I tunes: when trying to burn a playlist I keep getting the message: the attempt to burn a disc failed. The disc could not be read from or written to. I am using version 12

I tunes: I am using version 12 of I tunes. Ever since downloading it I get the message when trying to burn a playlist it says, The attempt to burn a disc failed. The disc could not be read from or written to.
I uninstalled V-12 and then reinstalled it. This enabled me to burn a disc again but after a couple of tries I received the same error message again. Has Apple put out a fix to this problem that anyone is aware of?
    Thanks.

    Hi rossfrombluffton,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The resource below provides some general things to consider when burning a disc with iTunes.  I would also try burning a music CD and a data disc from a different application in the Windows OS and trying a different brand CD just to confirm the issue is not with the optical drive.
Can't burn a CD in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-ae/HT203173
Find out what to do if you can't burn an audio CD using iTunes for Windows. Sometimes an audio disc may not burn as expected. Here are some things to check.
    Update iTunes
Download and install the latest version of iTunes for Windows.Check for unauthorized songs
iTunes will stop burning a disc if you purchased one or more of the songs in a playlist from the iTunes Store and the songs aren't authorized to play on your computer. This message should appear: "Some of the files can not be burned to an audio CD. Do you still want to burn the remainder of this playlist? For more information on why some files can not be burned, click below."
To find out which songs aren't authorized, play each song in the playlist. Songs that play are authorized. Songs that don't play aren't authorized. You'll be asked to authorize any unauthorized songs.Make sure your playlist will fit on a single CD
If there are too many songs in a playlist to fit on a single CD, iTunes should ask if you want to burn multiple discs or cancel the burn. This message should appear: "The songs in this playlist will not fit on one Audio CD. Do you want to create multiple Audio CDs with this playlist split across them? This will require more than one blank CD to complete."
If you click the Audio CDs button, the burn will continue and you'll be asked to insert blank CDs until the playlist is completely burned. If you click cancel, the burn will be canceled.
To make the playlist shorter so that it will fit on a single CD, select a song to remove from the playlist and choose Edit > Clear. Repeat this step until the duration of the playlist is between 60 and 80 minutes. The duration appears at the top of the playlist window. Most CD-R discs can hold 60 to 80 minutes of music.
Check how many times you've burned the playlist
An unchanged playlist that contains songs purchased from the iTunes Store can be burned no more than seven times.Additional steps and submitting feedback

  • How do I fix the 4900 error I get when trying to burn a cd in itunes?

how do I fix the 4900 error I get when trying to burn a cd in itunes?

We are having the same issue.
    Windows 7 x64
    Microsoft Office 2013 (Word)
    Adobe Reader XI (11.0.0)
Whenever someone tries to embed a PDF file into a Word document, the following error occurs:
The program used to create this object is AcroExch. That program is either not installed on your computer or it is not responding. To edit this object, install AcroExch or ensure that any dialog boxes in AcroExch are closed.
I have looked at alot of articles online that say to 'Disable' Protected Mode.  This does not resolve the issue.  This option is not set by default in our environment.
Do we have any confirmation or information from Adobe on this issue?

I created a DVD in idvd and now when trying to burn to DVD using external burner, I get the error message
"not enough disk space to encode the remaining assets". I am using a brand new blank DVD.
I have read the help info on computer but hasnt proved helpful.
    Any suggestions?

iDVD requires a fair amount of disk space to carry out the encoding process; depending on your project, you may need to have over 25 GB free space on your startup hard drive.  How much free space do you have?
