Computer restarts after every 20 secs

Product name: HP compaq dx 2390 microtower
OS: Windows XP
Error:Computer restarts in infinite loop

Hi:
Check the motherboard for swollen or leaking capacitors.
Pull all the memory modules and test each one in the primary memory slot one at a time and see if any of them are causing the boot loop.

  • N900 restarts after every 4 sec

    Hi,
Till few days back I have been happy user of N900. But...
I recharged N900 (like many times earlier) thru USB (with cable given with Nokia) when battery was near to flat (no low power was given yet). But when connected,  I saw, charging was not started, I re-inserted USB-plug.
From that point N900 is not starting, but acts:
    1. if USB power connected (eather charger or USB-data)
     - LIght backround "Nokia" will appear for 5 sec
(2sec also on right up corner mark of USB-commection)
     - 3 orange pulses (dark screeen with "Nokia"
     - waits for 1 sec (black scree)
     - Start from 1st them (cycle forever)
    2. If Charger not connected
     - Power pushed few sec (till white pulse full)
     - short Vibration
     - White "Nokia"-screen for 5sec
     - Off again
As mob does not start at all, I cannot recover datas from phone (phone book / psws....)
Is this a S/W problem or H/W issue? Warrenty stil on (from US), but can take to service only in FI or IN (where N900 not yet exists)

it may actually be a battery issue.
do you have another battery to try out?
    take the battery out
hold the power button for about 5-10 seconds, then put the battery back in.
now plug into the wall travel charger and see if it starts charging.
if it does and the led flashes slowly orange, then it should be charging.  let it charge for about 10 mintues and then unplug it and try to start the device again.
if it doesnt start charging, try to get a hold of another bl-5j battery first.  i have a feeling that something is wrong with your battery first.

  • Computer restarted after Mac OSX ...

I've been surfing the net for a solution to this for two days, and so far nothing has worked. I'll abbreviate this 'nightmare' as best I can ...
I have a Mac G5 running 10.5x. Been running fine since I bought it some years back. Last week it just froze. Fans kicked on - the whole shabang. I was able to view the hard drive using my laptop and save my important files to an external hard drive. I attempted an Archive and Install, but the computer froze at 23% complete. I was able to get it started again after multiple attempts only to freeze again (and again, and again). I decided to forgo the Archive and Install and just wipe the slate clean with a fresh install. After the new install, the machine runs ... well kinda' whenever it pleases then it freezes. Initially I was getting the black kernel panic box. Now it just freezes up and I have to do a hard restart which gives me the dreaded "The computer was restarted after Mac OSX quit unexpectedly" when it reboots. Then it runs for a while, freezes, restart, run, freeze. You get the picture.
The forums that I've visited suggested many things, and here's what I've done so far:
    Verified and repaired my disk
    Repaired permissions
Ran a program called "Remember" because many of these issues seem to be related to RAM. (Remember reported all RAM to be okay)
    Disabled screensavers
    Disabled sleep
    Disconnected all peripherals
Ran software update so all software is current
I had an Apple Genius look at it yesterday, and he told me everything's fine. He opened and closed apps, surfed the net, a total of five or ten minutes. The machine worked like a champ. It never froze. Of course I bring it home and just today it's frozen three times. No pattern that I have noticed, and I've been documenting all of my actions.
From what I've read, this is USUALLY a software issue. I have not installed any software since the reinstall. All that's on the machine is what was included on the install DVD. The RAM that I'm using is the original factory installed RAM (2-2 gig chips).
My IT friend told me to cut my losses because the machine is toast. I'm having trouble believing that.
Anyone out there have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance -

Do not use the leopard disk, use the gray disk (Disk 1) you got from the original box. It will erase the entire hard drive and install factory settings. After you install from the gray disk, let it run for a little until you install the leopard retail disk.

  • Server stucks at Applying Computer Settings after every reboot

    Hello!
On one of our sites containing around 15 servers, whenever a terminal server is rebooted, it gets stuck on Applying Computer Settings for around 15 minutes. If it is un-joined from the domain then no issue. Moreover, once it is done with this delay, no time
delay is observed in user login. But after every reboot, 15 - 20 mins delay is always observed. Domain is the same at other sites and no issue is being observed else where.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server forum.
In addition, for a test please try to modify the behavior of HTTP.SYS to depend on another service being started first. To do this, perform the following steps:
    1. Open Registry Editor
    2. Navigate to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP and create the following Multi-string value:
    DependOnService
    3.  Double click the new DependOnService entry
    4. Type CRYPTSVC in the Value Data field and click OK.
    5. Reboot the server
NOTE: Please ensure that you make a backup of the registry / affected keys before making any changes to your system.

  • Computer restarts after syncing 80gb ipod classic

Every time I sync my ipod classic,(80gb)the computer restarts itself. How do I stop this? I'm using windows XP home edition. Any advise will be greatly appreciated

Are you getting any sort of blue screen when the PC reboots? If so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x\[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
If the blue screen mentions a specific file (for example, “ati3duag.dll”), let us know what that is called too. (Exact spelling, please.)
Here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
If you're not seeing a blue screen (or if you’re just seeing a flash of a blue screen before the PC reboots), we can use the following technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
With those settings in place, does a blue screen appear before the PC reboots?

  • Configuring computer restarts after software update deployment deadlines

I am currently testing in my environment and running pilot deployments at different sites and the way I am doing it is I create deadlines for my test workstations at each site on the Friday following Patch Tuesday at 6PM along with a restart. The problem
with this though is that if a user takes their laptop home with them, or a workstation is powered down during the deadline, then the next time a workstation comes back online the system will get the notice to restart.
I know I can suppress restarts, but that will lower the compliance rate and I really do not want to use maintenance windows for workstations, because I want to reserve maintenance windows for servers only.
How do you SCCM MVPs and other SCCM gurus go about doing something like this?
    Thanks

I suppress all reboots for patches .  I have a DCM rule that detects if a machine is in a pending reboot status.  I build a collection of machines with that pending reboot status DCM rule.  The package refreshes at 2:45AM each day.
I have a recurring package deployed to the "pending reboot" collection that runs at 3:00AM every day with WOL.  The package checks to see if the machine is still in pending reboot state.  The package checks to  see if the time is
between 3:00AM and 3:30AM.  If the machine still needs a reboot and it is between 3:00AM and 3:30AM, then the package notifies the user that the machine needs a reboot with a 30 minute countdown.  The user can cancel during the countdown. If the
user doesn't cancel the machine reboots at the end of the timer.
If the program is run outside of 3:00AM - 3:30AM, the user is notified that a reboot is necessary, but it does't require a reboot.
This works pretty good.  The user gets nagged by Software Updates that a reboot is required, so they can reboot on their own (and that clears the computer from the reboot collection when the DCM rule refreshes.)  If they ignore the reboot, then
machines that are WOLable or on 24x7 reboot at 3:00AM.  Machines like laptops, the user just gets nagged to death about rebooting, but avoids the real problem of a laptop getting turned on just before a presentation and the user getting forced to reboot
in front of a crowd of hundreds.  I feel like you should never ever reboot an end users computer without giving them a chance to say no.  The downside is that most other software deployments will fail when a machine is in a pending reboot state -
so you want to get out of that situation as soon as possible.
There are a lot of reasons why maintenance windows are impractical.  They are pretty good for servers and other computers that are on 24x7, but are not too good for computers that sleep, and are almost useless for laptops.

  • Requires immediate Restart after every booting

Hmm....this just started happening this evening. I came home, logged on to my computer and it booted up just fine. Within 30 seconds, the screen went grey and a window appeared that said I must restart my computer.
I restarted it and it did the same thing again. Did it twice more and it told me to restart twice more. Any ideas what is going on? Thanks.

    Hi Jeff,
Unfortunately you are suffering Kernel Panics. These can be due to hardware or software issues but cheap RAM, dodgy USB drivers and devices, and corrupt OS are common causes.
I'd advise removing all 3rd Party RAM and all USB devices (except the Mouse and Keyboard) and the have a read of this article (Thanks to Dr Smoke).
Be sure to back-up your data as soon as possible. Later steps involve erasing the hard drive. If you need tips on how to do this let us know.
A systematic approach solves most of these issues so please do let us know how you get on.
    Good Luck

  • My computer restarts after waking from sleep windows 8.1

Recently, my computer has been having problems with waking up from sleep mode. Every time i wake my pc from sleep, it would turn on for a moment, then turn off, and turn on again. I'm not sure what the issue is but I wasn't able to find any mini-dump files

May someone help me with figuring out why this is happening?

    Hi,
Your first screenshot sums a lot of your problem up. A lot of your devices via USB 3.0 (0x1e31) aren't being put into selective suspend because your Logitech headset is canceling the idle IRP request. If your system is generating crash dumps, this kind of scenario
would probably throw an 0x9F bug check with 0x3 for the first parameter.
Overall, probably buggy/out of date Logitech drivers. Update them ASAP.
While you're at it, be sure your USB 3.0 drivers as well as other USB devices are up to date as well regarding their drivers.

    Patrick

  • Computer restarts after exiting Java applications

After restarting Windows says, system has recovered from a serious error. This happens only afterwards exiting Java, so it can't be anything else...Help me please with this...

Its not my code that causes it.
If I run my code or any other code, it seems any code
with swing involved will bring me down.
Oh I thought you were programming something, which generally is the intent of this site, not product support. You might ask the vendors about those products.
As an additional bit of information problems in swing/awt apps are often caused by video boards, drivers, fonts or some combination. So if you are running something unusual in that area it could do it.
You might also want to look at what services or task bar apps are running. Stopping some of those might help.

  • Computer reboots after every burn.

Everytime I burn a cd with iTunes the computer shuts off and reboots. It burns the cd just fine.

hmmm. this is a bit of an unusual context to be getting a BADPOOLHEADER.
lets try enlisting some additional technical help. we'll capture a minidump of the crash and send it to someone who can interpret minidumps.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
collect the minidump, and send it to this email address
in the email, include the URL to this thread so that the person who gets the email has some context, but also give as much information about the context of the crashing as you can.

  • I purchased an album on iTunes. During the download, my computer restarted after a virus scan. When I got back on iTunes to retrieve the download, some of the songs were missing. So, now I have all but two songs on an album that I have already payed for.

Any suggestions? Other than just buying the last few songs, which I'd like to avoid. The whole getting charged twice for the same item is not ideal.

If you reset device to "Out of box" state by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by user) and tried without memory card in place I suggest you return device to where you purchased it from!
I do use E72 running v091.003 and don't experience such issues!
