Computer Restarts when burning

Help. Running most recent version of Itunes, Liteon burner (2 months old) when burning new disks the computer goes through a restart when it completes. Need some insite on this problem.
  Windows XP

rower,
Your computer is blue screening. This is frequently caused by problems with driver conflicts or a computer virus. Make sure you've scanned your computer for viruses and spyware.
If that doesn't help, let's capture a minidump of the crash and send it to the Apple engineers to analyze.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
And then send it to the apple moderator. Tell her Toonz sent you. It doesn't hurt to put the URL to this discussion thread, so that whoever gets it has some context.

  • Computer restarts when I click on iTunes.

When i try and open iTunes - double click on the icon a blue error screen quickly flashes up on the screen, turns black and the computer restarts.
ANy ideas how i can fix this?
    Thanks

Okay. Here's the relevant updates page at Dell for your Dimension 3000.
    Dimension 3000 (XP)
Make sure both your BIOS and your Chipset are up to date. Actually, while, you're there, check to see if you're behind on any updates for other componentry you have on your particular configuration of Dimension 3000.
Once you're satisfied you're up to date, reboot the PC and then try launching Itunes again.
If you still get the blue screen crash, we'll set your PC up to capture minidumps of the crash, and send a minidump through to the Apple Engineers for a look.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. Generate the crash, find the minidump file, and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread

  • Computer restarting when running javac.exe

    Hi...i am new to Java.
I have a problem, when I compile my java file using javac myfilename.java then suddenly my computer restarting itself...
This happens many times on my computer...Is there anybody know the reason?
    Thanks

This is an odd problem. Apart from viruses, the usual reason for an unexpected restart is some kind of driver problem, since in XP this often triggers an automatic restart instead of a blue screen (what a creative approach to ridding the world of the BSOD ;-)
It doesn't seem likely to be a graphics problem, since it occurs with non GUI apps, but just so you know, ATI cards are particularly prone to trouble.
Install any pending service packs, and update your SDK to 1.4.1_02 if you haven't done so already. Change your graphics drivers to the newest available set.
That should knock the problem on the head, hopefully.

  • Computer Restarts When Trying to Update

I just recently got a 60G iPod, and installed iTunes on my boyfriend's computer while I was fixing mine. After my computer was up and running, I installed iTunes on it and planned to use my iPod as a hard drive and transfer the music over to my computer. When I installed the software on my computer, it recognizes my computer as the home computer, and my boyfriend's computer won't recognize it anymore. Now, every time I try and update my iPod on my computer, or try and select "manually manage songs and playlists," my computer automatically restarts. My boyfriend has XP and I have Windows 2000. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, and I've already uninstalled iTunes on my computer and reinstalled it. No change.

  • Computer restarts when transfering music

Whenever I try to tranfer large amounts of music to my iPod (photo, 30 gig) my computer restarts. It's a new problem that started when I reinstalled my hard drive. Any advice?

    Thanks Trevor,
I have tried every USB port I have, I also went and downloaded the new drivers as you suggested. Neither helped.
On three of the USB ports the minute I plug in the Ipod it shuts off the computer and restarts. The computer does give alot of clicking noises (not beeps) from the back of the computer. I'm wondering if it has something to do with my power supply, since the Ipod gets power to charge and such though the computer, do you think that could be a problem.
My next thing is I will try it on another computer, but that will have to be later today.

  • Computer restarts when cicking on volume control calibrat

    Hi
When in volume control panel of my Audigy 2ZS. The channel test works fine. Then, when I try to calibrate the computer restarts. Any clues, as the machine also restarts now and then. I assume both events are linked?

It should read Clicking, although Kicking might be the answer!

  • Computer restarts when iPod plugged in

When I plug in my iPod to update it, windows/my computer restarts itself, turning off momentarily and then having to restart windows. When it does, iTunes opens and everything works fine, but I'm just wondering WHY this is happening and if there's a way to fix it??

are you getting any sort of blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • Elements 9 Projects plays fine on computer however when burned to a DVD it drops the last part

    Hello,
this is my first post and first Question ever on Adobe site. I hope thatt someone can help. I have used Elemenys 3.0 for a number of
years. I have now upgraded to Elements 9. I am having an odd problem with a project that I am working on. Everything seems to be OK on the EDIT
and on  the DVD PREVIEW mode ; However when burned to a DVD, I am loosing the last part of the project, and the laat  scene button does not take me to the correct scene, It takes me to the one just BRFORE it. When the burning process is done, it shows that it all went well. No error messages. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what is causing this?

    hi photonutguy,
Since your question is about burning your video to a DVD disc, it is actually an Adobe Premiere Elements question. This forum is specifically about Photoshop Elements and is frequented by people who use Adobe Photoshop Elements for their photos.
there is a separate forum for Adobe Premiere elements where you will find the people knowledgeable in the video process for burning that DVD with menus at
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements
So  I recommend that you post your question at that Premiere Elements forum .

  • Computer restarts when trying to install SL on disk partition

    Hi.
I just repartitioned my Macintosh HD using disk utility.  I've created a new 120GB partition "Macintosh HD 2.
I've been having problems installing Snow Leopard on the new partition (using the SN install disk.)
It seems to be installing for about 20 minutes then the computer restarts.
It gets to the gray screen and starts beeping angrily at me.
At that point my only recourse is to restart the computer, eject the install disk and try again.
I'd been hoping to use the new partition to try out FCPX and Lion before I upgrade my main hard disk.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks so much in advance

    Hi db2
That off the shelf MS-DOS / FAT-32 drive needs to re-partitioned GUID Partition Table / Mac OS Extended (Journaled) before you can install OS X and Startup your Intel iMac from it.
    1. Boot from your original install or retail SL DVD and open Disk Utility.
    2. Highlight the new HD in the list of drives and select the Partition tab.
    3. Under Volume Scheme select 1 Partition and click on the Options... button.
    4. Select GUID Partition Table in the drop down window and click OK.
    5. Set the Format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and click the Apply button.
    6. Once thats done, then you can do a clean SL Install, Restore from TM , your old HD or  Bootable Clone.

  • Computer restarts when connecting ipod - please help!

Hey, I've recently bought a usb 2.0 card so i can connect my ipod via usb 2.0 as it will be faster than usb 1.1.
There is a slight problem however, almost every time i connect my ipod via the usb cable to this new usb 2.0 port, the computer restarts.
On the odd few occasions the computer hasn't restarted, my ipod has not been recognised in itunes or my computer.
I have tried connecting other things such as my phone and my old mp3 player to the new usb card and they work fine.
Is this a problem with my ipod or just the usb card?
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks alot.

I've had this problem and given the advice to others and it has worked for some. This isn't mentioned in any other advice that I can see but it is a simple check that you should do, not very technical either!
With your iPod plugged in to the computer, first go through the 5R's and other help topics to check the basics (new cable, different computer, different USB port etc.)
If no luck, check to see if your iPod exists in Device Manager as follows: right-click on My Computer, then click on Manage, then Device Manager, then expand the section called Disk Drives on the right hand side and see if the iPod is shown there, if it is, go on to the next stage.
In the same Computer Management box, click on Disk Management on the left hand side, after a few seconds a new box opens on the right and should show all of the disks on your computer including the iPod. Then right-click on the iPod information and it will give you an option to Change the drive letter or path....click on that and then select Change; select a new drive letter which is not already assigned to any other disc (I picked Z down the bottom), save that then exit and see if it works. Good luck!

  • Computer restarting when trying to burn a cd

Everytime I try to burn a playlist from my itunes..its starts burning process and then after 30 seconds, my computer resets

    hiya!
are you getting a blue screen with that? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting? ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES?
this reference has examples of the sorts of things i mean:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're just getting a "flash" of a blue screen, try using these settings to see if we can make it stick around for long enough to see what it's saying:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • Why does my computer restart when trying to print? OSX 10.8.3 epson 2200

I seem to have a problem on my macpro 3,1 3ghz, osx10.8.3 computer when i try to print. When clicking print in any program, it will automatically restart my computer. I've tried resetting the printer settings in system preferences, and when clicking plus to add the printer, it will restart again. The printer is an epson 2200.
I've downloaded the huge printers driver files again, and still nothing. Also tried to fix permissions and that didnt help.
Everything was working fine printing before osx 10.8.3.
    Any help would be great.

On the phone today with Senior Apple Tech guys for ovber an hour. I have a case number. They said they hope to have something by Saturday.
I will keep this forum posted if and when I get anything.
In the meantime USB is working just fine.
BTW, spoke with 2 Epson techs and they both said basically talk to Apple, and as far as they knew Apple wasn't supporting Fireire any longer.
It is true that the new machines do not have FW ports. Never the less, the printers were all fine on 10.8.2 and FW so obviously there was a slipup somewhere.
I have had Macs since day one. I consult quite a few photographers and architects on their computers.
In the last several years there have been very few problems, and none that I recall that brought down the whole system.
The old days, yes, but this really startled me. To say nothing of the promised print job I was starting!
Keep the faith that Apple will fix this, and quickly!

  • Computer restarts when ipod is connected urgent help needed

alright this is weird, I've had my ipod for ages and suddenly I go to plug it in and the computer slows down really really really slow and eventually just turns it self off, restarts and then sits in a black screen. if I leave the ipod plugged into the computer and restart it again it just goes straight back to the black screen, but both my ipod and computer work fine when there not connected. i have the latest version of itunes which seemed to help the first time i tried it actually started to update the ipod but then guess what the computer has another heart attack. urgent help needed please!!!

if I leave the ipod plugged into the computer and restart it again it just goes straight back to the black screen
Given this, I'd put it down to a flaky power supply in the computer. Might want to try using another computer or replacing the PSU.

  • Computer restarts when I make it come out of standby

Hi everyone. I just installed arch linux a few days ago and everything is working fine except for this problem. I cannot figure it out at all. Basically I suspend the computer using pm-suspend and the computer goes to sleep. When I press the keyboard or I press the power button the computer just restarts. I've installed windows and linux on this computer previously and I have never had this problem. The computer would just resume from standby normally.

Thanks. I am using awesome wm and here is my uname.
    Linux timmy 2.6.35-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Sep 21 11:00:23 UTC 2010 i686 Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU D510 @ 1.66GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
I don't have a video card; it just uses the built-in one and the video driver version is xf86-video-intel 2.12.0-1.
