Computer restarts when transfering music

Whenever I try to tranfer large amounts of music to my iPod (photo, 30 gig) my computer restarts. It's a new problem that started when I reinstalled my hard drive. Any advice?

Thanks Trevor,
I have tried every USB port I have, I also went and downloaded the new drivers as you suggested. Neither helped.
On three of the USB ports the minute I plug in the Ipod it shuts off the computer and restarts. The computer does give alot of clicking noises (not beeps) from the back of the computer. I'm wondering if it has something to do with my power supply, since the Ipod gets power to charge and such though the computer, do you think that could be a problem.
My next thing is I will try it on another computer, but that will have to be later today.

When transferring music fom one computer to another via cloud i soon get the message i tunes library cannot be saved you do not have enough access priverlages for this operation      how can this be avoided

Double check to see that your "itunes music
library.itl" (or "iTunes Library.itl") file or the
folder it resides in (the ‘iTunes’ folder) is not
    read-only.
Using Windows Explorer, right-click on the file (or
    folder) name, go to Properties.
If it is read-only, then close iTunes, change it, and
    reopen iTunes.

  • Loosing track info when transferring music

I've suddenly started loosing track info when transferring music.
I can take a cd, copy it to My Collection (M4A, Mobile Optimised) and all the info is displayed ok. When I transfer it to my phone (N70) the track data is lost and all music is dumped into the Unknown Artist folder, yet it still shows ok in the phone folder on Music Manager on the PC. Bizarrely, previous tracks that have the correct Artist/Album etc on the phone do not show correctly in the phone folder in Music Manager.
Any clues as to what's going on? I've used Nokia Manager many times before without this problem.

    Hi,
Please read the help topics of Music Manager which may help to resolve your issues (Hope So )
To rip a CD to your phone
Connect your phone to the PC.
    Open Nokia Music Manager.
Click Options > Settings... and in the Conversion tab, select the desired conversion format and bit rate. The conversion format to be used depends on the phone model you are using. Not all phone models support the M4A conversion format. If you are uncertain about which format is supported by your phone model, it is recommended that you select the AAC format.
Still in Settings, go to the phone tab, and click Browse... to select whether you want to rip the CD to the phone's memory or to a memory card if inserted. The folder can be located in the phone memory, hard disk or a memory card depending on the phone model you are using.
Click OK to close the Settings dialog.
Insert a CD into the CD or DVD drive of your PC.
Go to the CD view and click Options > Get CD Information if available to retrieve information about the CD from the music recognition service (hosted and owned by Gracenote). Using the service requires an Internet connection. If your phone model does not support the music recognition service, you can edit the CD information manually. For more information, see Editing track information.
Highlight one or more tracks you want to rip to your phone.
    Click Copy to phone.
Nokia Music Manager converts the tracks according to the settings you defined above in Step 3 and copies the tracks to your phone.
    Tip:
In addition to ripping tracks from a CD to your phone, you can copy the same tracks to the My Collection view. To do this, click Options > Settings... and in the General tab, select the When copying tracks to phone, also copy them to My Collection option.
You can set the CD view to open automatically whenever you insert a CD into the CD or DVD drive of the PC. To do this, click Options > Settings... and in the General tab, select the Automatically open disc view when a CD or DVD is inserted to CD/DVD drive option.
If your PC is running Windows XP or Windows Vista, you can open Nokia Music Manager from the Windows AutoPlay dialog when you insert an audio CD into the CD or DVD drive of your PC.

  • IPod restarts when syncing music

My iPod restarts when its in the middle of syncing music. Sometimes it just restarts and other times it says the required folder cannot be found. Can anyone help me?

Plug your iPod into your computer and once iTunes open go to the iPod preference plane on the source list. There is the option to restore your iPod. Restoring means to erase your iPod completely and reinstall a new software on it. So if you have any files in your iPod that you don't have on your computer, back them up before you do the restoring. Otherwise, proceed with the restore (You need internet connection to do the restore). You should be fine after restoring it.

  • Just got a new computer-problems with transferring music to iPod

I just got a new MacBook Pro and am having some weird problem when I try to transfer my music to my iPod. I transferred all of my music from my old Powerbook G4 to my new computer. When I hook up my iPod to my new computer to update it, it gives me a message for some of my songs (most of which were already on my iPod) saying that it "cannot transfer these songs because I am not authorized to play them on this computer", and it removed them from my iPod. Most of these songs are ones that I actually purchased from the iTunes music store, ironically. Is there a way to get my new computer to recognize these songs so that I can put them back on my iPod?

  • Computer Restarts When Trying to Update

I just recently got a 60G iPod, and installed iTunes on my boyfriend's computer while I was fixing mine. After my computer was up and running, I installed iTunes on it and planned to use my iPod as a hard drive and transfer the music over to my computer. When I installed the software on my computer, it recognizes my computer as the home computer, and my boyfriend's computer won't recognize it anymore. Now, every time I try and update my iPod on my computer, or try and select "manually manage songs and playlists," my computer automatically restarts. My boyfriend has XP and I have Windows 2000. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, and I've already uninstalled iTunes on my computer and reinstalled it. No change.

  • Forced to Restart when transfering files

    Hi,
I have been trying to transfer files through my network (apple to pc, windows XP). My screen goes grey and a text box is displayed telling me that i must restart my computer (multiple languages, french, japanese etc) with the power button logo in the background. This first happened using AIM as the file transfer method. I then tried using the SMB protocol through the network tab in the GO menu. Same thing. I used different files in every try (all >100mb). However, when transfering smaller files <1mb there is no problem.
I have only experienced the restart screen a handful of times in the 5 years i have been running the powerbook and 3 have happened in the last week. The have recently changed the RAM (2 256mb sticks to 2 512 sticks). Any help would be appreciated.

    Steve,
I ran tech pro 4 hardware test (10 loops) only on the ram and experienced a kernal panic. After this happened i restarted my computer and immediately suffered another kernal panic once the desktop had loaded and immediately again after another restart. I have since swapped out my older ram and it passed the tech pro 4 test.
I am now unsure how to proceed. I upgraded to 2 sticks of Patriot 512MB PC133U 144 pin compared to 2 sticks of samsung (stock, same speed) 256 MB. Is it likely the sticks themselves or the increased amount. What do you, or other members of the forum, recommend?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Computer restarts when I click on iTunes.

When i try and open iTunes - double click on the icon a blue error screen quickly flashes up on the screen, turns black and the computer restarts.
ANy ideas how i can fix this?
    Thanks

Okay. Here's the relevant updates page at Dell for your Dimension 3000.
    Dimension 3000 (XP)
Make sure both your BIOS and your Chipset are up to date. Actually, while, you're there, check to see if you're behind on any updates for other componentry you have on your particular configuration of Dimension 3000.
Once you're satisfied you're up to date, reboot the PC and then try launching Itunes again.
If you still get the blue screen crash, we'll set your PC up to capture minidumps of the crash, and send a minidump through to the Apple Engineers for a look.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
Generate the crash, find the minidump file, and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • Computer restarting when running javac.exe

    Hi...i am new to Java.
I have a problem, when I compile my java file using javac myfilename.java then suddenly my computer restarting itself...
This happens many times on my computer...Is there anybody know the reason?
    Thanks

This is an odd problem. Apart from viruses, the usual reason for an unexpected restart is some kind of driver problem, since in XP this often triggers an automatic restart instead of a blue screen (what a creative approach to ridding the world of the BSOD ;-)
It doesn't seem likely to be a graphics problem, since it occurs with non GUI apps, but just so you know, ATI cards are particularly prone to trouble.
Install any pending service packs, and update your SDK to 1.4.1_02 if you haven't done so already. Change your graphics drivers to the newest available set.
That should knock the problem on the head, hopefully.

  • Computer Restarts when burning

Help. Running most recent version of Itunes, Liteon burner (2 months old) when burning new disks the computer goes through a restart when it completes. Need some insite on this problem.
      Windows XP

    rower,
Your computer is blue screening. This is frequently caused by problems with driver conflicts or a computer virus. Make sure you've scanned your computer for viruses and spyware.
If that doesn't help, let's capture a minidump of the crash and send it to the Apple engineers to analyze.
And then send it to the apple moderator. Tell her Toonz sent you. It doesn't hurt to put the URL to this discussion thread, so that whoever gets it has some context.

  • Annoying messages when transfering music

Hello, I have a 512 MB first gen Shuffle. Soon getting an 8GB Nano for Xmas, YAY! Anyway, I have the latest version of iTunes and am running it on Vista Premium. When I plug my Shuffle in iTunes opens and I can put music on my Shuffle. When transfering, Vista pops up a message saying that I should scan my Shuffle with ScanDisk because it detects a problem. I hit "OK" and it says that the volume cannot be found. Then after that, I get an AutoPlay message asking what I want to do with "Shuffle" which I have it named as. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance!

I hit yes and it finally scanned. That ones gone, now just the AutoPlay message. Any ideas?
